Helen L. Gollonik

Helen L. Gollonik, age 84, of 2424 Simonis St died Oct. 12, 2006 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10: 30AM on Wednesday at St Stanislaus Catholic Church. The Rev. Al Jakubowski will officiate. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8PM on Tuesday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel and from 9: 30 AM until the time of services at the church on Wednesday. The St Stanislaus Rosary Society of which Helen was a member will combine with the general rosary at 7PM on Tuesday. A memorial to the Lincoln Center has been established in her name.

Helen was born on Sept. 17, l922 in Torun the daughter of the late John & Prakseda (Wierzba) Lemke. She attended Torun grade school, graduating from there. She moved to Chicago at the age of 16 and worked at various positions, and also worked in Florida.

She came back to Wisconsin in l945 and married Frank Gollonik on Oct. 22, l947 in Stevens Point. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary and were married for 58 years. She lived at her current address for 59 years Helen worked with her husband, Frank at Badger Paint Store in Stevens Point. She also worked at Del Monte in Plover.

Thru the years she was an avid Pinochle Card player and enjoyed her group at the Armory, she was a member of St. Stanislaus Rosary Society for 50 yrs. She was very active with sewing, reading, gardening and painting. She loved to dance polka’s, waltzes and listen to Lawrence Welk. During her last years, she found new friends at the Lincoln Center.

She is survived by one son Ronald of Madison, one daughter Suezanne (Douglas) Firkus of Petaluma, CA—2 grandsons –Nicholas & Michael Firkus—a niece Trish Mrozak of St Pt—one brother Henry Lemke of Plover, --4 sisters Agnes Maurer, Florida—Jennie Klabon, St Pt—Ann Lemke, Milwaukee & Regina Lemke, Chicago & several nieces & nephews.

Helen was a very affectionate, generous women with smiles and kisses for everyone. And she was a women of great strength, enduring her years of illness. She was appreciative of special people in her life, Bev, Rosemarie, Jessica, Denise & Hank.

Charles A. Sikorski

Charles A. Sikorski, 77 of 3190 Cty Rd I in the Town of Sharon passed away Wednesday October 11, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family.

Services for Mr. Sikorski will be held Saturday at 11: 00 AM at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. Pastor Gretchen Anderson will officiate. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 10: 00 AM to the time of services at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel cemetery.

Charles was born Oct. 27, 1928 in Polonia the son of John and Frances (Wieland) Sikorski Sr. He moved with his family as a child to Rosholt where he attended St Adalbert Catholic School. He began working at the family farm and also worked for 45 years for Sikorski Masonry. He married the former Patricia Krieser on Dec. 27, 1958 in Milwaukee. The couple settled at the Cty I homestead after marriage. They operated the farm together with their children. Mrs. Sikorski passed away in 1994. He loved to be with his grandchildren and never missed a grandparents day at the schools they attended. He took great pride in his masonry work he did in the area including the work he did at St Peters Catholic Church. He also enjoyed listening to polkas every Sunday and his tractors on the farm.

He is survived by his children; Lynda Sikorski (Brian Krogwold), Amherst Jct; Michael Sikorski, Rosholt; Teri (Tim) Steffen, Clam Lake; Patty Sikorski, Rosholt; Cathy (Jim) Ferguson, Mount View, AK; Charlie (Jean) Sikorski, Rosholt; Step-daughter: Laurie (Kent) Feldman, Phoenix, AZ. Grandchildren; Jennifer Kopchinski, Adam (Stephanie) Kopchinski, Sasha Sikorski, Alexis Sikorski, Dawn Everson, John (Nicole) Everson, David Everson, Jonathon Sikorski, Matthew Rekoske, Kim Sikorski - Bates (Michael) , Bryan Sikorski, Scott Pful-Sikorski, Holly Green, Cindy Sikorski, Ronald Sikorski. Step Grandchildren: Jamie & Jody Fisher. Great Grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Kody, Savannah, Hunter Charles, Layton, Aurora, Natasha, Dana, Dustin, Unborn. One brother, John (Margeret) Sikorski Jr; Two sisters: Genevieve (John) Ostrowski, and Celia Fredoch. His special friend, Alice Kawleski. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia, four brothers and three sisters.

Carol I. Huettig

Carol I. Huettig, age 56, of 8712 North Collins Lake Lane, Rosholt passed away Monday October 9th at Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice in Wausau.

A memorial service will be held at 2PM on Saturday October 28th at the Shuda Funeral Chapel-Stevens Point. Friends may gather to share memories from 1PM until the time of services at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Carol Huettig Memorial Scholarship c/o the UWSP Foundation, University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, Stevens Point, WI. 54481.

Carol was born June 16, 1950 in Chicago, the daughter of the late William and Marguerite (Nelson) Huettig. She graduated from Big Foot High School in Walworth, WI then received her undergraduate degree from Carthage College. She went on to receive her Masters Degree from Illinois State University and her Doctorate from Texas Woman’s University. Carol taught at Carthage College, the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, the Dallas Public School District and the Texas Woman’s University. Carol was an extraordinary teacher who earned many awards. She was also a motivational speaker. Dr Huettig ‘s exceptional contributions to the field of adapted physical education have been recognized and applauded around the world. Because of her the lives of many children with disabilities have been enriched. Carol was an avid reader and golfer.

Survivors include one sister: Beth Ann Huettig of Milwaukee, one brother Charles (Mary) Huettig of Fontana and their son William, her companion of 20 years Jean Pyfer of Rosholt and her beloved dog Mikey.

Daniel P. Ziebell

Daniel Phelps Ziebell, age 63, Plover, died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at St. Michael’s Hospital, Stevens Point, after a valiant battle with prostate cancer.

He was born Dec. 17, 1942, in Wausau to Gretchen (Phelps) Ziebell and the late Carl Ziebell. Daniel served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War in the mid-1960s and was honorably discharged.

Daniel was a talented fisherman and hunter, and also loved scuba diving and had his U.S. Diver’s certificate. He enjoyed computers and had much knowledge of computer technology.

He is survived by his mother, Gretchen Ziebell of Madison; brother, Jeffrey (Rosalyn) of Hastings, England; sister, Gretchen (Judge Robert DeChambeau) Hayward of Madison; his fiance, Valli Anderson of Plover; and loyal friend, Jonathan A. Baker, also of Plover. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Ziebell in February 2005. He will be deeply missed by his family and close friends.

Funeral Services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at Shuda - Plover Family Funeral Home, Dwaine Habrat will officiate. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 5 p.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

William Walther

William Walther, 84, formerly of 1450 Water St., Stevens Point, died Oct. 6, 2006, at St. Michael's Hospital. He had been a resident of the Portage County Health Care Center since February.

Services for Mr. Walther will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Alan Schaffmeyer will officiate. Friends and family will gather at the church Tuesday from 10 a.m. to the time of services to celebrate Mr. Walther's life. Shuda Family Funeral Service is assisting the family. Memorials in Mr. Walthers name have been established for Trinity Lutheran Church and Milwaukee Children's Hospital.

Mr. Walther was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Freeport, N.Y. (Long Island) , the son of John and Wilhelmina (Dunlop) Walther. He attended schools in Freeport. He worked at Grumman Air Craft on Long Island before moving to the area in 1950. He married the former Carol Dethloff at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, in Marshfield, on May 6, 1950. The couple settled in Stevens Point after the wedding.

He worked at the Portage County Highway Department prior to joining the Copps Corporation in 1953. He retired after 30 years in 1983. Mr. Walther moved to Florida after retirement to be near his sister. While there he became a avid fisherman. He returned to Stevens Point in 1992. After his return to the area, he worked the desk at the Stevens Point, YMCA. Mr. Walther served as superintendent of Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday School as well as teaching classes for the Sunday School. He served as a member of the Stephen Ministry of Trinity Church. He was an avid baseball fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers having grown up in New York. Upon moving to Wisconsin he also became a football fan, of the Green Bay Packers. He loved to talk sports with his son and grandsons, and attended many Packer, Brewers and old Milwaukee Braves games. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, photography and studying the Bible.

He is survived by his son Hans (Suzanne) Walther of Stevens Point; his ex-wife, Carol Walther, Stevens Point; his sister Helen (Tom) Bryant of Ormond Beach, Fla. ; his brother Harry (Charlotte) Walther of Wantagh, N.Y.; two grandsons, Austin and Evan; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Benjamin; four brothers and two sisters.

Regina L. Klosinski

Regina L. Klosinski, 71 of 817 Whiting Ave. died October 4, 2006 with her daughter at her side. She had been a resident of the Portage County Health Care Center the past 12 years and in ill health the past week.
Services for Regina will be held on Saturday October 7, 2006 at 10: 00 AM at St James Catholic Church in Amherst. Rev. Robert Pedretti will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 4 - 8 PM Friday at the Shuda- Plover Family Funeral Home and also from 9: 00 - 9: 45 AM on Saturday at the church.
Regina was born Dec. 21, 1934 in Madison the daughter of Walter and Lucy (Herman) Wiza. She attended schools locally and graduated from P.J.Jacobs High School in 1953. She married Myron Klosinski October 16, 1954 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church in Fancher. The couple settled in Custer. She was a homemaker and stayed at home to raise her family. She enjoyed babysitting, cooking, and gardening.
She is survived by her five children; Maynard (Judy) Klosinski, Amherst; Rose Smith, Renton, WA; Ann (Randy Parks) Klosinski, Plover; Judy (Jeff) Kurtz, Bonney Lake, WA; Mary (Brody) Antipa, Bonney Lake, WA. One sister Cecilia Searl, Mosinee. Ten Grandchildren; Beth, Ben, Zack, Jamie, Lindsey, Jordan, Jeremy, Janelle, Connor, and Isabelle. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Myron in 2003, one sister and one brother.

James E. Cisewski

James E. “J.C.” Cisewski 66, of 140 Black Forest Circle, Plover, died Saturday night, Sept. 30, 2006 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. He gave strength to his family with his courageous battle with cancer . . . he never gave up and he never gave in.

“The world holds so many priceless things – the falling rain, a rose in bloom, the wind that sings, an oyster’s pearl, the mustard seed. If we can cherish just one precious gift, our lives will be rich indeed.”

J.C.’s family cherished him as a precious gift God so kindly granted them. He was his wife’s best friend, his son’s immortal champion and his daughter’s hero. The strength J.C. was able to give unto others, he inherited from the strength, love and support he was given from his parents, whom he so dearly cherished.

J.C. was born June 10, 1940, in Stevens Point, to Eugene and Theresa (Stroik) Cisewski. He attended St. Stanislaus grade school, and was part of the first graduating class from Pacelli in 1958 where he was on the National Honor Society. He went on to attend classes at Devry Institute of Technology in Chicago and then the University of Wisconsin-Madison. J.C. was married to Karen Krueger on September 7, 1963 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point, WI. He worked for Pitney Bowes before taking employment with Herrschners in 1972, where he worked up to the time of his death as Vice President of Operations. He also previously served as 13th Ward Alderman of Stevens Point, President of the local Jaycee’s and as a member on the St. Joseph’s Parish Council.

J.C. enjoyed golfing, gardening/yardwork, the good people at Herrschners, seeing Pope John Paul in person at the Vatican and spending time with his grandchildren. J.C.’s favorite saying to his grandchildren: “Is you is, or is you ain’t.” Last words spoken to J.C. by his grandson Keagan, “I is what I is.” J.C. smiled.

J.C. is survived by his wife, Karen; parents Eugene and Theresa Cisewski of Stevens Point; son, Sean (Victoria) Cisewski of Stevens Point; daughter Kelly (Scott) Benjamin of Greenwood, IN; Grandchildren Rochelle, Ashley and Sabra of Stevens Point and Kane, Kota and Keagan of Greenwood, IN; Brother Ken (Bonnie) Cisewski of North Port, FL; Sister Lynette (Gene) Breault of St. Paul, MN; Sister Nadine (Tom) Slowinski of Twin Lakes, WI; and Sister Debra (Charles) Stanke of Eau Claire, WI.

Visitation and a celebration of his life will be held from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday October 4, 2006 at the Shuda-Plover Family Funeral Home. A Bible Vigil will be prayed at 6: 30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held the following morning at 10: 00 a.m. at St. Bronislava Catholic Church with Rev. James Trempe officiating. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Children’s Miracle Network [4525 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84117; memorial donation forms available at www.childrensmiraclenetwork.org – Please fill out any notification of donation to Karen Cisewski, 140 Black Forest Cir., Plover, WI 54467].

Florence I. Patoka

"I tried so hard."

Florence Irene Patoka, 76, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at St. Michael's Hospital.

Friends may gather at the Shuda Funeral Chapel-Stevens Point from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, to share memories. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. The Rev. George Thayilkuzhithottu will officiate. Private burial will take place at Saint Mary's cemetery, Custer.

Florence was born Nov. 27, 1929, in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late Paul Herman and Theresa (Dryfka) Waytonowitz. She married Richard Patoka in 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fancher. Richard died Dec. 30, 1983. Florence was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Patoka, Seymour, and Marjorie (John) Rusch, Amherst; two sons, Eugene (Marilyn) , Arlington, Texas, and Jerome, Custer; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Florence has two surviving siblings, Margaret Herman, Waukesha, and Paul Herman, South Carolina. Her children extend their sincere gratitude to Care Partner's Assisted Living and to the A-Team of 5-East St. Michael's Hospital who cared so lovingly for their mother and to Pastoral Services for their support and prayers. Special thanks to their Aunt Genevieve Shulfer for her genuine love and giving spirit. Our deepest thanks.

Bernice J. Bigalke

Bernice J. Bigalke, age 89 of 824 First Street died Saturday September 23 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1: 30PM on Wednesday at Saint Peter Catholic Church. Rev Kevin Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in Guardian Angel cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12: 30 until the time of service at the St. Faustina Room at the church. The Shuda Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.

Bernice was born July 7, 1917 in Ellis, the daughter of the late Theodore and Susan (Gillmeister) Bigalke. In 1921 the family moved to Stevens Point where she attended school and graduated from Emerson High School. Bernice worked for several years at the Point Cafe.

Survivors include two sisters: Evelyn (Herbert) Latus and Lorraine (Robert) Pelishek, numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Milton H. Gabor

Milton H. Gabor, 71, of 2150 Buckingham Drive, Plover, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at the Portage County Health Care Center. He had been a resident there for the past two weeks and in ill health for the past year.

Friends and family will gather to share memories from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at the Shuda-Plover Family Funeral Home in Plover.

He was born Aug. 7, 1935, in Bevent, the son of Joseph and Martha (Grulkowski) Gabor. He attended local schools and served his country in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge. Milton worked at Badger Meter in Brookfield for 44 years until retirement. He was married to Maxine Wierzba and the couple have lived in Plover the past 10 years.

Milton is survived by his wife, Maxine; his stepson, Richard Wagner; three brothers, Edwin (Mary) Gabor, Daniel (Gertrude) Gabor and Wally (Mary) Gabor; and one sister, Evelyn (Chester) Chilla. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Francis "Frank" R. Justice

Francis "Frank" R. Justice, 85 of Rosholt passed away September 16, 2006 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice.

Services for Mr Justice will be held at 11: 00 AM Thursday Sept. 21, 2006 at Faith Lutheran Church in Rosholt. Rev. John Poffinbarger will officiate. Burial will be in the Concordia cemetery. Family will greet and share memories with friends after the service on Thursday at the church. The Shuda Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.

Mr Justice was born Dec. 9, 1920 in Chicago, the son of Henry and Maria (Graves) Justice. He owned and operated his own heating and air conditioning contracting business in Winneconne for 50 years before retirement. He served his country in the United States Army and received a honorable discharge in Nov. of 1945. He married the former Anna Bode on Jan 31, 1947, she preceded him in death.

He is survived by his five children: Frances (Dennis) Draeger, Rosholt; Ann (David) Frerks, Cheney, WA; Marie Justice, New London; Keren (Bradley) Hale, Rancho Cucamonga, CA; James Richard Justice, Rosholt. Eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Ernestine M. Andrews

Ernestine M Andrews, 82 of 3201 Jefferson St. Stevens Point died unexpectedly September 15, 2006 at St. Michaels Hospital.

Services for Ms. Andrews will be held Tuesday at 11: 00 AM at the Shuda Plover Family Funeral Home. Rev. Alan Burkhardt will officiate. Friends and Family will gather to share memories from 10: 00 AM Tuesday until the time of services. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Ms. Andrews was born October 9, 1923 in the Town of Stockton, the daughter of Dominic and Bernadette (Formella) Kluck. She attended local schools and the Spencerian College in Milwaukee. She married Nick Andrews in 1944. The couple later divorced. She worked for Sentry Insurance for a short time and then for the State of Wisconsin in the unemployment division until her retirement in 1985.

She remained very active and worked as a volunteer in the area, including assisting human services with CPU data entry. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, crocheting, old movies, casino trips, friends & family and especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters: Sharon (Andy Riske) Turner, Plover; Candice Adams, San Bernadino, CA. Six grandchildren: Wendy (Rex) Runke, Tammy Turner, Darcy Turner, Kip Allen, Geneva Adams, and Josh Adams. Nine great grandchildren and one sister Lorraine Prodzinski, Stevens Point. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Eugene R. Gmerek

Eugene R. Gmerek, age 85, of Plover died Friday September 8th at Saint Michael's Hospital. Funeal services will be held at 10AM Tuesday September 12th at Saint Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. There will be no visitation prior to services. Rev, Jim Trempe will officiate, burial will be in the parish cemetery. Shuda Funeral Chapel-Stevens Point is assisting the family with arrangements.

Eugene was born December 6, 1920 in Milwaukee, the son of the late Alois and Helen (Ratajewski) Gmerek. He attended local schools. He enlisted in the US Army on August 5, 1942 where he graduated from bomb disposal school then served as a demolition expert in the African and Middle Eastern Theaters during WWII. Among other awards Eugene earned 3 Bronze Campaign Stars He was honorably discharged October 12, 1945. He married Muriel DeWitte April 12, 1947 at Saint Rita’s Catholic Church in West Allis, she died October 22, 2004. Eugene worked as a caterer in Milwaukee until his retirement in 1985. He and his wife moved to Plover in 2002 to live with their daughter. He was a member of the AM VETS.

Survivors include his daughter Patrice Harvey-Plover, 2 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. One son Gregory and one sister preceded him in death.
