Mrs. Gloria Mae Haines
Mrs. Gloria Mae Haines, 75, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2003, at her home. She was born August 31, 1927, in Jamestown, N.Y., to the late Vern and Lena (Hoogstra) Anderson. On July 9, 1948, she married Art Haines in the family home in Salamanca, N.Y., by Art's father, Rev. Perry Haines. She was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, The Brown County Medical Society Auxiliary and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Mom was everyone's friend and Dad's best friend. She was an avid Packer backer along with Brett Favre's "Mom away from home." She always put everyone else before herself and was a most kind and generous person. In their early married life, Dad says he would not be here today if it were not for her tenacity in getting him into and through medical school. Mom worked long hours as a dental assistant and subsequently assistant chief operator for Michigan Bell. The Dean of Ann Arbor Medical School knew her on a first-name basis by the time Dad started his studies.

Mom had a dear love for music and was active in band and choir in her early years. Mom and Dad truly enjoyed jazz music together and made many terrific friends and great memories over the years.

Later in their marriage, Mom became very active in the Brown County Medical Auxiliary. She also was involved in the Trinity Lutheran Church Evangelical Committee with lay ministry, visiting shut-ins and the elderly.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Art Haines; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marci and Dale Lorge, Minnesota, Kathy and Dave Terre, Texas; three grandchildren, Maelee and Maya Lorge, Cory Terre; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Polly Anderson, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Lorena Haines; nieces and nephews, including a very special nephew and special nieces, Ray, Mary and Sally.

Gloria was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Perry Jr., Robert and Malcom Haines.

Friends may call at Trinity Lutheran Church, 330 S. Broadway, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Michael Baucom officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name. We thank the paramedic and first responders for their professionalism and medical expertise. The area is very fortunate to have these competent people and their specialized training available at a moment's notice. We really appreciated their prompt response. We also want to thank the wonderful people at Blaney Funeral Home for their help and kindness. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the Haines family.
