Rose A. Frazer

Rose A. Frazer, 94, Plover, died Friday, April 30, 2010, at Maple Ridge of Plover. Services will be at 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. Rev. James Trempe will officiate. Visitation will be from 9: 30 a.m. to the time of services Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Michigan. Shuda Funeral Service, Stevens Point and Plover, are assisting the family.

Rose was born March 8, 1916 in Calumet, MI the daughter of John and Annie (Likovich) Musich. She married Hubert Frazer February 20, 1936 in Calumet, MI. The couple settled in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She was active in the church choir and alter society. In 1983 she moved to Wisconsin to be near her children. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Stevens Point senior center. Rose liked arts and crafts, music, crocheting and being a seamstress

She is survived by two daughters: Rose Marie La Chapelle, Mukwanago, WI Theresa "Jane" (Jerome) Koshollek, Waupaca Two sons: Hubert (Joan) Frazer, Plover Ronald (Pauline) Frazer, Ontonagon, MI 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren 3 sisters: Liz Agatha Bertha preceded in death by her husband Hubert on August 11, 1983 one sister 6 brothers grand daughter Vicky Frazer 2 grand sons Shawn and Casey Koshollek

Donald Zaversnik

Donald F. Zaversnik, age 75 of 2817 Mary St, died Friday April 30, 2010 at Care Partners under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 10: 30AM on Friday May 7, 2009 at St Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Alan Burkhardt will officiate. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9AM until the time of services. The Shuda Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.

Donald was born on March 27, l935 in Milwaukee, the son of the late Joseph & Katherine (Krueger) Zaversnik. He worked at St Michael's Hospital until getting a custodial job at St Joseph's Church in 1978. He also worked at Courtesy Motors until retirement in 1999, due to ill health.

Don loved ice fishing, hunting, movies, gardening and bowling. He enjoyed talking on the phone with his granddaughters, taking them to the park and having a good time with them. His three little girls are now teenagers. He loved his dog Windsor, all he had to do was look at him and he would come to him. His best days were the holidays, when family would come home.

He married Mary Ann Frydach on Oct. 15, l966 at St Stanislaus Catholic Church. She survives along with one son Sgt. Joseph Zaversnik of Copperas Cove, TX and one daughter Tammy Zaversnik of LaCrosse. Three granddaughters Rachelle--Marah & Thereza. Five sisters--Catherine Stevens & June Batty of Milwaukee--Rita Cavanough of New Jersey--Rosemary Creighton of Madison & Donna Maker of Chicago--two brothers Harold (Margie) and James, both of Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

Gaylord Fletcher

Gaylord B. Fletcher, age 77 of Hwy J in Buena Vista passed away Sunday May 2, 2010 at his home. Funeral services for Gaylord will be at 2: 30 PM Friday May 7, 2010 at the Plover - Shuda Family Funeral Home & Crematory. Dwaine Habrat will officiate. Visitation will be from 1: 30 PM to the time of services at the Plover Funeral Home. Burial will be at Liberty Corners cemetery.

Gaylord was born June 20, 1932 in Buena Vista the son of Ward and Coral (Clark) Fletcher. He attended local schools and later began his career as a dairy farmer retiring from cash crop farming in 2000 but continued to help on the farm. He married Charlotte Barden on July 10, 1954 in Buena Vista. Gaylord was a member of the N.R.A., various snowmobile clubs, Farm Bureau, and the Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers Assn. He enjoyed hunting, casino trips, traveling, Green Bay Packer football, watching the grandchildren's sporting events and in earlier years he also liked bowling, golfing, fishing, and snowmobiling.

Gaylord is survived by his wife Charlotte, their two children: Roland "Rocky" (Brenda) Fletcher, Plover; Sherri (Kenneth) Moscinski, Stevens Point. Two grandchildren: Kendra Moscinski and Dylan Fletcher. One brother: Millard Fletcher, Plover and one sister Rosalyn Barden, Plover. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.

Honora T. Yonash

Honora T. Yonash, age 79 of Iola, died Monday May 3, 2010 at Crystal River Nursing & Rehabilitation in Waupaca. She had resided there since January of 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday May 6, 2010 at St Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point. The Rev. George Thayilkuzhithottu will officiate. Burial will be in St Stephen's cemetery. Friends may call at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point from 9AM until 10: 30AM on Thursday. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the March of Dimes.

Honora was born on June 7, 1930 in Stevens Point, the daughter of the late Thomas & Stella (Parry) McLoughlin. She graduated from St Joseph's Academy and St Francis College of Nursing in LaCrosse. She worked as an obstetrics nurse in San Bernadino, CA. St Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point, Ft Atkinson, the Veterans Home in King and the Manawa Nursing Home before retiring in 1992. She loved to sew, knit and spending time with her grandchildren.

She married Thomas Yonash on June 24, l954 at St Stephen's Catholic Church in Stevens Point. He died on March 30, l994. She is survived by four sons--Timothy (Lori) of Stevens Point--Teagan (Connie) of Burlington--Tyrone of Iola and Trevor of Scandanavia--Two daughters Shauna (Richard) Radunzel of Janesville and Sharyl (Jeff) Peterson of Iola--21 grandchildren and one great-grandson--one sister Bridget Nice of Burlington--two daughter-in-laws Donna Yonash of Green Bay & Mindy Yonash of Bettendorf, IA. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sheila & Sharon--three sons Tedman--Tobin & Terrance and one sister Muhire McLaughlin

Robert Brilowski

Robert S. Brilowski, age 86, a lifelong member in the Stevens Point area, passed away at St Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, WI on Wednesday May 5, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 10: 30AM on Monday at St Stanislaus Catholic Church. The Rev George Thayilkuzhithottu will officiate. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8PM on Sunday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point and from 9: 30 AM until the services on Monday at the church. The Elks Lodge #641 of which he was member will have a ritual at 6: 30PM on Sunday. A general rosary will be prayed at 7PM. A memorial will be established in his name at a later date.

Robert was born on April 21, l924 in Stevens Point, the son of the late Joseph & Josephine (Jurgella) Brilowski.

Having grown up on a farm, and with the love of the land and the outdoors in his heart, he choose a career as a farmer. He married Eleanor Betro on April 7, 1945 at St. Mary of Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher. He and his wife Eleanor farmed briefly in Milladore, WI. and then purchased his dairy and crop farm in Stevens Point where he worked until his retirement. He was also employed for many years at the Copps Company.

Another passion of his was local politics. Robert served the Town of Hull as its supervisor from April 1969 until his death. He particularly enjoyed riding around with the road crew to make sure that the roads in his township were in tip top shape. He was also very proud to have been on the Portage County Board for 16 years. As a local politician he acquired and maintained many friendships.

Robert was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He enjoyed his beautiful yard filled with trees shrubs and flowers, and he was an ardent sports fan, hunter and fisherman. He was very proud of having been a fine baseball player as a young man.

Robert is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eleanor on April 8, 1988, his parents and infant sons and daughters.

He is survived by his three children--Judy (Tom) Jones of Brooklyn Park, MN Patrick (Barb) Brilowski and David (Rose) Brilowski, both of Stevens Point--10 grandchildren--14 great-grandchildren --one sister Isabel (Daniel) Kedrowski and six brothers Chester (Lorraine) , Joseph (Mary) , Leonard (Justine) , Myron (Janet) & Norbert (Rita) all of Stevens Point and Donald (Christine) of Florida--one sister-in-law Isabel (Betro) Herek of the Town of Stockton and many relatives and friends.

Bless the memories of Robert in your heart. He'll greet us with a hug and a smile again someday.

Patricia E. Schlinsky

Patricia E. Schlinsky, age 80, of 3208 Michigan Ave. Stevens Point died peacefully at her home on Saturday May 8, 2010.

Patricia was born September 17, 1929 in Duluth, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Charles and Eleanor (Carroll) Helmer. Patricia enjoyed many hobbies such as leather craft, collecting dolls and building dollhouses. She also loved raising and caring for many pets over the years.

Before retirement Patricia was employed for many years as a nurse working at the Portage County Health Care Center and at St. Joseph’s infirmary.

On January 31, 1948 Patricia was married to Howard Schlinsky in Milwaukee. She was married to Howard for over 50 years until his passing in 2003. Patricia is survived by one son Tim, of Stevens Point and two brothers William (Rita) Helmer and Joseph (Victoria) Helmer both of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, one son Charles and one brother Charles.

Private Family services were held with burial in the Hancock cemetery. The Shuda Funeral Chapel assisted the family.

Gerald M. Brillowski

Gerald M. Brillowski, age 76, of 5624 Hwy 66, died Sunday May 9, 2010 at St Michael's Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday at St Stanislaus Catholic Church. The Rev. George Thayilkuzhithottu will officiate. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8PM on Wednesday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel and from 10AM until the services on Thursday at the church. A Prayer Vigil will be said at 7PM on Wednesday at the Funeral Chapel.

Gerald was born on August 18, 1933 in Stevens Point, the son of the late Frank & Cecelia (Domaczak) Brillowski. He graduated from P.J.Jacobs High School. He entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 3, l955 and was discharged on Jan. 31, l958 from Ft Sheridan as a SP/2C. While in service he worked for a five star general as his secretary.

After service he attended the Chicago College of Commerce and was a Court Reporter in Chicago until moving to Baraboo in 1961. He was a State Circuit Court Reporter throughout Wisconsin working for various Judge's, his last judge being Judge Golmar. He retired in 1989.

After retirement he then opened his own court reporting business out of Madison, Brillowski Professional Reporting Services.He was associated with many dignitaries and noted people due to his profession. He also operated the "Light Christian Book Store" with his wife, He was a member of the Baraboo Theather Guild starring in South Pacific, Gypsy, and Take Me Along. He also sang with the Baraboo Barbershoppers. Gerald was also an avid photographer and also became a registered Justice of the Peace, Taking pleasure in marrying many couples. He had the pleasure of working for golf tournaments at Whistling Straits in Kohler. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and growing flowers.

He married Germaine Lewandowski in 1953. They later divorced. He is survived by two sons--Gerald M. of Dallas, TX and Gerard M. of Chicago--one grandson John of California. Three sisters Evelyn Ebel of Rosholt-- Alice Kiewit of Brookfield and Gladys Mazarka of Stevens Point. One brother Adolph of Plover. Many nieces & nephews. Special friend Marian Scheider. He was preceded in death by three brothers--Emil, Edmond and Victor. and two special pets "Boo" and "Goodpuppy"

Verlyn P. Graff

Verlyn P. Graff age 90, of Bancroft, passed away Monday May 10, 2010 at the Crystal River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Waupaca. No public services will be held.

Verlyn was born July 15, 1919 in Milwaukee, the son of Adolph and Adell Graff. He graduated from Washington High School and began working at Harley Davidson. Verlyn entered the United States Army Air Force on April 25, 1942 in Milwaukee. During his term of service he earned the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 2 silver and 2 bronze battle stars. Four overseas service bars. One service stripe and good conduct medal. He was honorably discharged from Ft. Sheridan, IL on September 12, 1945. He returned to Milwaukee and married Ruth Michel October 5, 1946. The couple settled in Milwaukee where he held various employment until retirement in 1976 from Wisconsin Telephone Company. The couple moved to the area after his retirement settling in Bancroft in 1986. He was an old car enthusiast.

Verlyn is survived by his wife Ruth and their son Gerry Graff, Kellner. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Barbara.

Plover - Shuda Family Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family.

Betty "Jane" Lappen

Jane Lappen age 87, died Sunday May 9, 2010 at Harmony Assisted Living in Stevens Point while under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.

Jane was born on August 8, l922 in West Salem, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Spurgeon "Spud" and Florence (Joseph) Stair, Jane married James lappen in Janesville in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1992. A Janesville resident for many years, Jane and her husband Jim moved to Stevens Point in 1986.

Jane was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Golden Trinitys.

Survivors include one daughter Carol Ostby of Stevens Point and one son Robert (Andrea) Stair of Janesville, 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Per Jane's request a private celebration of her life will be held at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place in Oak Hill cemetery, Janesville.

The family would like to thank the staff at Harmony of Stevens Point and Ministry Home Care Hospice for the loving care they provided.

David Engebretson

David H. Engebretson, 63, of Oshkosh, died May 11th at the Vallhaven Care Center in Neenah having spent the last 6 months living as fully as possible while brain cancer slowly took his life.

Dave was born April 24, 1947 in Stevens Point to the late Darold and Lillian (Kadzielawski) Engebretson. He grew up in Stevens Point, graduated from P. J. Jacobs H.S. and attended UW Stevens Point where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.

Dave worked in sales and marketing much of his life. He also spent many years as a stockbroker, First with Piper Jaffray in Appleton, then Dain Bosworth and also Dean Witter in Minneapolis. He was then was offered the opportunity to enter the engineering field with the Doig Corporation of Cedarburg where he received valuable schooling and experience. It was an opportunity for which he was forever grateful. In 1992 he was recruited by General Electric where he finished out his career.

But the real passion in Dave’s life was his fly-fishing. Dave’s fly fishing career began when he tied his first fly at the age of five. As his love of the sport grew over the years he traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada looking for that perfect trout stream. He became an environmentalist who strongly believed in “Catch and Release” and the preservation and restoration of trout streams. Early in his career he was an instructor and representative for the Fenwick fly rod company. In addition to becoming a master at fly tying, he also built fly rods. He served as the lead casting instructor for the Trout Unlimited Frank Hornberg Chapter’s annual class for 14 years, since its inception. Dave was a member of this Chapter, which serves his home area including the Portage, Wood and Adams counties of central Wisconsin. The area also includes his favorite home water, the Tomorrow River, the area’s top blue ribbon trout stream.

Dave brought a level of professionalism to this fundraiser, which would have been very difficult to provide otherwise. He is one of the finest fly casters and overall fly fishers the area has seen. Fellow fly casters always marveled at his effortless style and flawless execution, which lifted the practice to the level of art. His abilities, combined with his engaging instructing manner, made him a truly outstanding teacher to many, many students.

He leaves behind his son Chris (Jen) and their children Jack and Cydney (Boston) , and his son Nick (Mnpls) . He is survived by four siblings Alan (Marge) Stevens Point, Gail, Madison, Marcia (Jane) , Hayward and Mark, Sun Prairie. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, many wonderful life-long friends, his sig ep brothers, and many more friends he has added to his life along the way, including his companion, Helen Reiter of Van Dyne.

Visitation will be held at Shuda Funeral Chapel, Stevens Point on Friday May 21 from 4 to 7 PM, and again Saturday from 9 – 10 AM. There will be a prayer service held at Shuda’s on Saturday the 22nd at 10 AM.

Dave was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh. The family is deeply grateful to all the loving caregivers at Vallhaven Care Center and Hospice/ThedaCare at Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dave’s favorite charity – a camp that provides wonderful opportunities to developmentally disabled children – Camp Winnebago, 1978 Camp Winnebago Rd., Caledonia, MN 55921 (www.campwinnebago.org) .

Evelyn B. Sharafinski

Evelyn B. Sharafinski, age 90, of 2433 Peck St died at her home on Thursday May 13, 2010 of congestive heart failure. She was under the care of her family and Ministry Home Care Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 10: 30AM on Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. The Rev. George Thayilkuzhithottu will officiate. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9: 30AM until the services on Monday. The Shuda Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Ministry Home Care Hospice.

Evelyn was born on Jan. 29, l920 in Buena Vista, the daughter of the late Martin & Bertha (Gosh) Suski. She attended St Mary of Mt Carmel Elementary School. She married Tony Sharafinski on June 28, l941 at St Mary's. They lived in Milwaukee for five years, before returning to Stevens Point. She was a homemaker until the 1970"s when she started working in the Deli at Copps Grocery. She retired at the age of 84. She was an avid bingo player & loved music and dancing, particularly Polka Music She was also an outstanding cook.

She is survived by four daughters--Patricia Ford of Lake Havasu City, AZ--Karen Miceli of Sacramento, CA--Mary (Mark) Prioletta of New Berlin & Lynn (Tom) Sankey of Waunakee--Four sons Robert (Linda) and Kenneth of Stevens Point--Gordon of San Francisco, CA and Gary (Cruz) of Readfield--8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Six sisters Betty (David) Helbach & Marge (Carl) Docka both of Amherst--Sylvia (Joe) Kump--Alice Klim & Marie Sopa all of Milwaukee and Florence Lewandowski of Stevens Point and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Tony, one daughter Janice, her step-father Florian Sopa--three brothers Leonard & Bill Suski and Florian Sopa Jr. and 5 step-brothers.
