Daniel T. Cichosz

Daniel T. Cichosz, age 53 of 424 W. McDonald St, Stevens Point, passed away Wednesday May 12, 2010 at home with his loving wife and son at his side after a courageous 3 1/2 month battle with cancer. A memorial service for Daniel will be held at 7: 00 PM Monday May 17, 2010 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. Dwaine Habrat will officiate. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 5: 00 PM to the time of services at the funeral chapel. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established.

Daniel was born July 31, 1956 in Stevens Point, the son of Bernard "Barney" and Eleanor (Suchon) Cichosz. Dan attended local schools and graduated form SPASH in 1974. During and after high school Dan worked with his father for 29 years building homes and lawn care. Dan also worked at Delmonte for 15 years until his son and best friend Eric were able to start the business of their dreams. Dan was a man of many talents ranging from home building to wild bait harvesting. He especially enjoyed being in the outdoors. Trapping, hunting, fishing, and bait harvesting (catching minnows) was Dan's life.

Dan was a loving husband , father, and son who always put his family first. You never saw Dan without his hunting hat. Dan married the love of his life, Laura Lubinski on April 19, 1986 in Stevens Point. Their love and devotion to each other continued up to the second of his passing.

Dan is survived by his wife Laura and their son Eric. His mother Eleanor Cichosz, Stevens Point. Two sister-in-laws: Mary Boris and Jane (Dave) Zwicki, both of Plover. Brother-in-law; Paul (MaryAnn) Lubinski, father-in-law David Lubinski, both of Stevens Point. Nieces and nephews: Kati (Casey) Ellis; Mike (Amy) Boris; Steward Zywicki; Jenny Zwicki; Adam Lubinski and Matt Lubinski. Great nieces and nephews: Riley Ellis; Sydney Boris and Porter Boris, along with his faithful companion, Rocky. He was preceded in death by his father, brother-in-law Daniel Boris and step mother-in-law Rose Lubinski.

Bill Tufte

Bill "Red" L. Tufte, 79, 2550 Madison Ave., Plover, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at his home.

Funeral services for Bill will be held at 11: 00 AM Monday May 24, 2010 at the Plover - Shuda Funeral Home. Tamara Singer will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 -8 PM and again Monday from 10: 00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Full military honors will be performed for graveside services at the Plover cemetery.

Bill was born on July 14, 1930 in Stevens Point, the son of Louis and Inez (Grover) Tufte. He attended local schools, graduating in 1948 from P. J. Jacobs High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on August 23, 1949 in Chicago. He earned the Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged on November 28, 1952 in Virginia. In 1953 he worked at Preway for a short time before being hired as a laborer at the Portage County Highway Department. He worked for the County for 36 ½ years, retiring in 1990.

Bill married Lois Lasecke on April 23, 1955 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on November 16, 2009.

He enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors, including being an avid trapper, waterskiing and ski jumping in his earlier years, cross country skiing up to this last winter, spending time in the woods "up North" on the Spirit River and on "the farm" on the West Side. Bill had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling stories, of which he shared from time to time in the Stevens Point Journal.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at a later date. Bill is survived by his daughter Kim (Keith) Cain, Midland, Texas and his son Paul (Nancy) Tufte, Plover; six grandchildren Jeremiah, Jason, Kristina, Kelsey, Mitchell, and Casey; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie Weir, Plover and Judy Carew, Watertown. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois, and brothers-in-law Leroy Weir and Gary Carew.

Richard L. Bloedorn

Richard L. Bloedorn, age 65 of 1435 Larry's Drive in the Town of Hull passed away May 21, 2010 at his home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care, after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer.

A memorial service for Richard will be held at 6: 30 PM on Monday May 24, 2010 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. Rev. Steven Olson will officiate. Friends and family will gather to share memories on Monday from 4: 00 PM until the time of services at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Aspirus Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Richard was born July 18, 1944 in Green Bay the son of Arthur and Arlis (Nighorn) Bloedorn. He attended Green Bay schools and graduated from Green Bay Preble High School, he then attended UW-Madison. He worked for the family business starting as a young teen as a commercial and residential electrician. He married Barb Nesbitt in 1972, with whom he had Paul and Laura. They later divorced. He moved to the Stevens Point area and began his own electrical business, Bloedorn Electrical which he operated it until he retired due to his illness. He married Debra Stommel Wolff on May 12, 1990. His pride and joy was his wife, children, and granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife Debra; his two sons Paul (fiance' Erika Schmidt) Bloedorn, Apple Valley, MN; Matt Wolff (special friend Alissa Almanza) , Stevens Point; two daughters: Laura (Lance) Neirby, Millburn, NJ; Rebecca (Brenden) Whitfield, Green Bay. Three granddaughters: Aubrey and Brinley Whitfield and Maddison Almanza. His in-laws: Eugene and Pat Stommel; special niece Sara (Luis) Ortiz. His brothers and sisters: Ellis Bloedorn, Arbor Vitae; Robert (Jane) Bloedorn, North St. Paul, MN; Jan (Jim) Laszewski, Appleton; Eldon Bloedorn, Woodcrest, CA; Diane (Paul) Marchol, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Donna Lee and brother Arthur Jr.

He will be greatly be missed by those who knew he always had a story to tell and a smile to share.

Bernice Kjer

Bernice L. Kjer age 90 of 3380 Bridlewood Drive in Plover passed away Sunday evening May 23, 2010 at Crystal Fountain Whispering Pines CBRF in Plover.

A mass of Christian Burial for Bernice will be held at 10: 30 AM Thursday May 27, 2010 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. Rev. James Trempe will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4 - 8 PM at the Plover/Shuda Funeral Home in Plover, and again Thursday from 9: 30 AM to the time of services at the church. A Bible Vigil will be prayed at 7: 00 PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at St Mary's cemetery in Custer. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in her name.

Bernice was born July 8, 1919 in the Town of Stockton, the daughter of Felix and Rose (Armatoski) Klosinski. She graduated from Emerson High School in 1936 and attended Teachers State College for two years. She married Norman "Dick" Kjer October 11, 1941, and the couple owned and operated a farm as they raised their family. Later after the children graduated Bernice worked as a teacher in the area, and later worked at Herrshners until retirement.

Bernice is survived by her four children: Barbara (James) Grzywacz, Eagle River; Patricia (Thomas) Somers, Amherst Jct.; Jane (Robert) Rosicky, WI Rapids; Jerry (Lee Ann) Kjer, Ottumuwa, IA. 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. One sister Ramona Platta, Custer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2004, daughter Bonnie (Gerald) Sommers; son Billy Kjer; two brothers and one sister.

Walter Normington

Walter J. Normington, age 66 of 1313 Chase St, Stevens Point, died Thursday May 27, 2010 at St Joseph Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Saturday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. Friends may call at the chapel from 10AM until the services.

Walter was born on Nov. 8, l943 in Stevens Point, the son of the late Walter & Marie (Stengle) Normington. He graduated from Pacelli & UWSP. He was a teacher for Blackwell Job Corps Center & worked in the family laundry business.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie--two sons Daniel of Stevens Point and Roy of Milwaukee. Two brothers Charles of Palm Spings, CA & Michael of Desert Hot Springs, CA

Lillian C. Tepp

Lillian (Sadogierski) Tepp passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, June 1st at St. Michaels Hospital in Stevens Point after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Lillian was born in Stevens Point on November 23, 1934, daughter of the late John and Sophie (Guzell) Sadogierski. She attended PJ Jacobs High School until 1952, and married Patrick Tepp in Stevens Point on October 27, 1956.

Lillian was a dedicated, loving parent and meticulous homemaker. She and Pat hosted many family gatherings and card parties, and will be remembered for her sense of humor and enjoyment of life. While she enjoyed deer hunting, she was passionate about fishing. She especially loved to trout fish in the spring, usually out-fishing everyone else on the lake.

Lillian was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Hank and Bernard Sadogierski and sister Rosie Singer, all of Stevens Point. She is survived by her beloved husband Pat Tepp, sons Matthew (Sheryle) and Marc Tepp, granddaughter Alexandra Tepp, brother Joseph (Lois) Sadogierski, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9am to 10am on Monday, June 7th at St. Stephens Church, followed by services at 10am.

Edward "Gunner" Walkush

Edward "Gunner" Walkush, age 65 of 7771 Erin Rd, Rosholt died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday May 30, 2010. As per his wishes, there will be no public sevices. The Shuda Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.

Mary Fredach

Mary Fredach, 96, of Minnetonka, Minn., and Wittenberg, died Sunday, June 6, 2010, in Wayzata, Minn. Mary was born July 23, 1913, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Joseph and Apolonia (Czotek) Dziedzic. She attended Town of Alban School. She married Ben Fredach on June 23, 1934, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt. Ben died July 31, 1972. Mary is survived by one son, Joe Fredach of Fox Point; and two daughters, Juanita Werra of Plano, Texas, and Joyce Fredach of Minnetonka; three grandchildren, John (Kerry) Werra and Karen Werra, both of Plano, and Gary Werra of Milwaukee; two great-granddaughters, Peyton and Kendall Werra, both of Plano; a sister, Alvina Wysocki, Rosholt; and a brother, George Dziedzic, Rosholt. She was preceded in death by one sister, Clara Kulas; and three brothers, Edward, Adolph and Carl Dziedzic. Mary will be buried next to her husband at St. Adalbert cemetery in a private ceremony. The Shuda Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.

Robert "Dutch" Clark

Robert "Dutch" Clark age 83 of 2609 Dixon St. in Stevens Point passed away Monday June 7, 2010 at St. Michaels Hospital.

Visitation for Dutch will be held Thursday June 10, 2010 at the Shuda Funeral from 9: 30 - 10: 45 AM with full military honors with burial at 11: 00 AM at St. Joseph cemetery. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established for the Friends of #2713.

Dutch was born June 20, 1926 in Stevens Point the son of Allen and Carrie (Johnson) Clark. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1944. During his high school years, Dutch was an all around athlete, playing football, basketball, hockey, and baseball. He entered the United States Marine Corp on December 14, 1944. He served as a corporal and participated in the occupation of China from 1945 - 1947. He was honorably discharged on April 27, 1947. He returned to the area and began working for the Soo Line Railroad, he retired as a locomotive engineer in 1986. He married Joyce Drake in 1953 in Dubuque, IA. The couple settled in Stevens Point and she passed away February 14, 1989. He married Dorothy Drake on Jan. 5, 1991 in Clearwater, FL. Dutch was an avid sports fan and enjoyed supporting all the local high school and college teams, along with Post #6 baseball. He also liked to camp with his family. Dutch was a 60 year member of American Legion Post #6.

Dutch is survived by his wife Dorothy; his three children: Kevin Clark, Ft. Collins, CO; Chris Clark, Stevens Point; Lea Ann Larson, Stevens Point. Three grandchildren: Chelsae, Matthew, Michael. Four step children: Colleen (Harry) Wilke, Anchorage, AK; Carol (Fred) Hebert, Stevens Point; Donald (Paula) Drake, Mosinee; Amy (Steve) Newton, DePere. Eleven step-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. His two sisters: Carol (Bill) Kollock, Florence, AZ and Doris (Al) Ostrowski, Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Joyce; and their five infant children.

Franklin W. Wachowiak

Franklin W. Wachowiak, age 58 of 1300 Briggs Ct. Stevens Point passed away June 9, 2010 at St. Michaels Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack. Per his wishes no public services are planned.

Survivors include his three sisters, Susan (Richard) Derezinski, Elizabeth (Douglas) Zuege and Cynthia Wachowiak; and one brother, Mark (Terri) Wachowiak.

Franklin W. Wachowiak

Franklin W. Wachowiak, age 58 of 1300 Briggs Ct. Stevens Point passed away June 9, 2010 at St. Michaels Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack. Per his wishes no public services are planned.

Survivors include his three sisters, Susan (Richard) Derezinski, Elizabeth (Douglas) Zuege and Cynthia Wachowiak; and one brother, Mark (Terri) Wachowiak.

Eleanor D. Richter

Eleanor D. Richter age 82 formerly of Hwy 00 in Rosholt passed away Monday morning June 21, 2010 with her family at her side, at St. Michaels Hospital. She has resided at the Stevens Point Care Center the past three years.

A mass of christian burial funeral service for Eleanor will be held on Thursday June 24, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Maciek Okonski officiating. Burial will be at the parish cemetery. Friends and family will gather to share memories on Wednesday evening from 4: 00 - 8: 00 PM at the Shuda Funeral Chapel and again Thursday before the mass at 9: 00 AM - 9: 45 AM at the church. A general rosary will be prayed at 7: 00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral chapel. Eleanor was born March 7, 1928 in Fancher, as one of the 16 children to Frank and Rose (Kenowski) Rzentkowski. After her schooling she worked in Milwaukee for a year, before marrying Harry Richter on October 18, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The couple settled in Rosholt where they owned and operated a farm while raising their children. Once all the children were of age, Eleanor worked at River Pines until her retirement. Her pride and joy was her family and she loved to cook for all of them.

Eleanor is survived by her children: One daughter Judy (Dan) Rychter, Stevens Point. Five sons: Jim (Lisa) Richter; Eugene (Bonnie) Richter; Terry (Barb) Richter, all of Rosholt. Carl (Patty) Richter, Custer; Brian (Alice) Richter, Stevens Point. Two sisters: Bertha Spinalla and Florence Wagner both of Milwaukee. Three brothers: Ronald (Ann) Rzentkowski and Rudy Rzentkowski, both of Milwaukee. Hubert (Josie) Rzentkowski, Rosholt. 18 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry in 1977, 10 brothers and sisters, and one granddaughter.

Tillie S. Lepak

Tillie S. Lepak, age 97, entered eternal life on Sunday June 20, 2010 at North Crest.

Funeral services will be held at 10: 30AM on Wednesday at St Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Lyle Schulte will officiate. Burial will be in St Adalbert cemetery in Alban. Friends may call at the Shuda Funeral Chapel from 4-8PM on Tuesday. The St Stanislaus Rosary Society, which she was a 50 plus year member will combine with the general rosary at 7PM. Visitation will be at the church from 9: 30AM until the services on Wednesday.

Tillie was born on Sept. 10, l912 in the Town of Sharon, the daughter of the late John & Agatha (Bronk) Stencel. She attended local schools. Tillie married Edwin Lepak on May 20, l935 at St Adalbert Catholic Church. They farmed until moving to Stevens Point in 1943. Tillie retired from St Michael's Hospital, having worked in housekeeping for many years. Edwin died on April 3, l999.

She enjoyed Quilting, baking, canning, playing the harmonica and visiting with family, especially her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She was deeply religious with a strong faith and had a remarkable sense of humor. She touched many lives.

Tillie is survived by 5 sons--Reginald (Mary Ann) of Stevens Point--Maynard (Virginia) of Rosholt--Ralph (Phyllis) St Pt--Thomas (Carol) Menomenee Falls & Gary (Teri) of Plover--Three daughters--Claudia (Norman) Bejna, Germantown--Sister Bernadine Lepak SSJ-TOSF and Linda (Larry) Woyak, both of Stevens Point--16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 son Myron--5 sisters & 3 Brothers

Dorothy L. Wasieleski

Dorothy L. Wasieleski of Plover lost her battle with cancer Monday evening June 21, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. A mass of christian burial for Dorothy will be at 10: 30 AM Thursday June 24, 2010 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. Rev. James Trempe will officiate. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 9: 00 AM - 10: 15 AM on Thursday at the church. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established. Plover - Shuda Funeral Services are assisting the family.

Dorothy was the daughter of the late Jacob Podolski and Francis (Mallek) Podolski. She was born on June 23, 1928, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. After her mother’s death in 1931, she lived with her father and step-grandmother in the Mill Creek area. She married Wallace Wasieleski on September 17, 1949, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Mill Creek. Following their marriage they moved to Milwaukee to raise their family. However, Dorothy and Wallace missed living in the country and decided to move back to the Stevens Point area to begin their farming career in Mill Creek. In 1964, they purchased Wallace's Family Homestead (est. 1917) , where Dorothy handled all of the finances for their farming operation, and continued to do so for more than 46 years thereafter. Dorothy enjoyed listening and dancing to music; polka was her dance of choice. She also played an influential role in teaching her children to polka. Additionally, Dorothy enjoyed sewing, and sewed many Easter dresses and bonnets for her daughters. Dorothy loved to cook for her family, and prepared countless meals for family and friends. She made the best soup in town. Dorothy treasured the time spent with her husband and family, spending much of it traveling together in their motor home while she was in her early 60's. She enjoyed going Up North and fishing for bluegills. Family was the most important aspect in her life and she valued every minute with them.

Dorothy was preceded in death by one sister, Grace Podolski; two brothers, Roman and Leonard Podolski; and one grandson, Brandon Cieslewicz, who was killed in an automobile accident in 2002. Survivors include her husband, Wallace; six children, David (Lynn) , Gary, Joyce (Tony Karpinski) , Arnie (Bev) , Shari (Quinn Cieslewicz) , and Cori (Randy Studinski) ; seven granddaughters, Kristi, Alicia, Tara, Jenny, Desiree, Breanna, and Brittany; seven grandsons, Jason, Brad, Jeremy, Dan, Bob, Justin, and Eric; and eleven great-grandchildren.
