Edmund J. Borski

Edmund J. Borski, age 90 passed away peacefully on January 24, 2011 at St. Michaels Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Borski will be held at 11: 30 AM on Thursday January 27, 2011 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel - Stevens Point. Deacon Don Borski will officiate. Visitation will be from 9: 30 AM until the time of services at the Shuda Funeral Chapel.

Edmund was born on August 19, 1920, in Stevens Point the son of August and Frances (Konopacki) Borski.

Edmund joined the US Army August 22, 1942 and served during WWII in Northern France. He was honorably discharged January 11, 1946. Edmund began his career at Consolidated Papers in the Whiting Division on March 19, 1946 he retired August 31, 1982. He married Sylvia Omernick on May 17, 1947 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. He was a life member of P.L.A.V. Post #185 (Polish Legion American Veterans) . Edmund enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, fishing in his pond and visiting neighbors and family.

Survivors include his son Gerald (Barbara) Borski, Stevens Point. One grandson, Todd (Penny) Borski and great-grandchildren Kalaiya and Emily. One sister: Lorraine Zinda; and three brothers: Jerome, James (Anita) , and Richard Borski all of Stevens Point. Sister-in-law Jean Borski and many nieces and nephews. Edmund is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sylvia in 1997. One brother Robert Borski, and two sisters: Ramona Miller and Carol Lars. Edmund's family wishes to thank the staff of Stevens Point Care Center and Ministry hospice for the care he received.

Pearl Przeworski

Pearl Przeworski age 99 passed away at Maple Ridge in Plover on January 25, 2011. The family is being assisted by Shuda Funeral Services & Crematory of Plover & Stevens Point.

Lawrence E. Brill

Lawrence E. Brill age 95 formerly of 2801 Simonis St. passed away Tuesday January 25, 2011 at St. Michaels Hospital. Mr. Brill currently resided at Oakridge Senior Living in Stevens Point. A mass of Christian burial for Lawrence will be at 11: 00 AM on Friday January 28, 2011 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Rev. George Thayilkuzhithottu will officiate. Burial will be at the Guardian Angel cemetery. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from 9: 30 AM until the time of services at the church on Friday. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Lawrence was born July 13, 1915 in Stevens Point, the son of George and Rose (Richter) Brill. He graduated from Emerson High School. Lawrence married Florence Bogaczyk on October 14, 1940 at St. Peter Catholic Church. The couple owned and operated Brill’s Gift and Luggage for over 40 years before passing the business to their son Mike. Florence passed away in April of 1985. Lawrence married Maxine Wisniewski in June of 1986. He was a lifelong sportsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and golf. He was a member of the Stevens Point Elks Club and The Knights of Columbus #1170.

Lawrence is survived by his wife Maxine and his children: Dr. James (Mary) Brill, Madison; Michael (Carol) Brill, Stevens Point; David (partner Mike Martin) Brill, Milwaukee; Mark (Janis) Brill, Madison; Peter (Mary) Brill, Milwaukee. Six step-children: Jean Howard, CA; Dr. John (Mary) Wisneski, LaCrosse; Mary Stark, CA; Patti Seidl, CO; Jill Lawson, Neenah; Sara (Joseph) Peters, Appleton. 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Florence, their daughter Mary Fortune, three brothers: Eugene (Butch) , Eddie, Phil; and his sister Isabelle Nugent.

Fred A. Frost

Fred A. Frost age 68, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday January 26, 2011 at Bella Gardens in Plover. Fred fought a courageous 4 year battle with cancer.

A celebration of life service for Fred will be at 2: 00 PM on Sunday January 30, 2011 at Plover – Shuda Funeral Home. Dwaine Habrat will officiate. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from noon to the time of services at the Plover Funeral Home on Sunday.

Fred was born October 17, 1942 in Springfield, OH the son of Fred Sr. and Audrey (Potter) Frost. After schooling he did construction in both Florida and Cuba. He then owned and operated his own trucking company until his retirement. Fred married Mary Ann Kubian on July 2, 1973 in Illinois. He loved to fish and enjoyed nature. He took his grandchildren; Kayla, Molly & Noah on nature walks, he taught them things they would not have ever been privy to otherwise. He saw the world and practically knew how to get anywhere without a map. Fred was a survivor! He could “make do” with whatever he had. He was a caring person to everyone!

Fred is survived by his wife Mary Ann; four daughters: Andrea Stevens, KY; Donna Louise Shea, FL; Christina Marie (Scott) Pearson, Stevens Point; Nancy Ann (Scott) Van Jacobs, Schaumburg, IL. One son Rocky Frost, Springfield, OH. Three brothers: George, Terry, Tommy Frost, all of Springfield, OH. One sister: Martha (Wayne) Adams, Springfield, OH. Three grandchildren: Kayla Ann and Marie Pearson, Noah Thomas Van Jacobs. Fred is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Steven and two sisters: Sharon and Carol.

Nicholas (Chucks) Angelo Andrews

Nicholas (Chucks) Angelo Andrews, of 2600 Porter Road in Plover passed away January 27, 2011 at St. Michaels Hospital.

Nick was born on October 25, 1923 to Dorothy Hilma (Gregory) and Barney Andrews. He married Ernestine Kluck in 1944. they later divorced.

Nick served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1941-1944 on the USS Colorado (F Division-fire control) . He lived in Stevens Point, Milwaukee, and Winneconne throughout his years working as a semi truck driver for Darling Trucking, along with other trucking companies. Nick loved to garden and read. He also enjoyed wildlife, music and his pet dogs.

Survivors include his two daughters, Sharon Turner (Andrew Riske) , Stevens Point, and Candace Adams, San Bernardino, CA, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Nick is also survived by his stepson John Sosinski, and his family, Amherst. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife Ernestine Andrews, parents, one brother Robert Phillips, and one grandson, Kip Allen.

There will be a private family gathering loving memory of Chucks.

Elizabeth M. Gagas

Elizabeth "Betty" Gagas age 83 formerly of 2740 County Road J in the the Town of Sharon was called home to eternal life with Jesus Tuesday morning February 1, 2011 at St. Michaels Hospital, with her loving family at her side. She had been under the loving care of the angels at the Stevens Point Care Center for the past three years.

A mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Gagas will be held at 10: 30 AM on Saturday February 5, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. Rev. Marcin Mankowski will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 PM on Friday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel - Stevens Point, and again on Saturday from 9: 30 AM to the time of services at the church. A general rosary will be prayed at 7: 00 PM Friday night at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in her name. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Parish cemetery.

Elizabeth was born March 17, 1927 in Marathon County, the daughter of Stanley and Teckla (Kuklinski) Wanta. She grew up in Bevent and attended St. Ladislaus School. She worked at Marathon Battery before her marriage to Leo S. Gagas on November 17, 1945 at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Bevent. After their marriage, the couple settled on the family farm in the town of Sharon. They dairy farmed until their retirement in 1974. She then worked at the Hot Fish Shop and the Rice Clinic. Leo and Elizabeth were active in the Portage County Foster Care Program, and shared their home with many children over the 20 years they were foster parents. Her Catholic faith was very important to her and she attended church regularly and prayed the rosary daily. Elizabeth was a Golden Member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society after being a 50 year plus member. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and had a passion for embroidery and homemade quilts. In her final years she cherished visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elizabeth was a Loving Mother and she is survived by her children: Barbara (Stanley) Wiza, Oshkosh; Dennis (Theresa) Gagas, Stevens Point; Cecilia (Michael) Sobczak, Stevens Point; Lawrence "Larry" (Elaine) Gagas, Rosholt. Nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. One sister, Phyllis (Jerry) Landowski, Rosholt. Two briothers: Frank Wanta and Stanley (Jean) Wanta, both of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo in 2009, her step-father Felix, 3 brothers: Phillip, Wallace, Ambrose, and one great grandson, Jonah Lee Ostrowski.

Tiffany Ann Hintz

Tiffany Ann Hintz (Smith) age 38 of Rosholt went peacefully to heaven on February 1, 2011. She is joining her baby girl Ashley in the heavenly stars along with many other family members.

Funeral services for Tiffany will be at 11: 00 AM on Friday February 11, 2011 at Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point. Rev. Marcin Mankowski will officiate. Burial will be at the St. Mary cemetery in Torun. Visitation will be from 9: 00 AM on Friday until the time of services at the funeral chapel. A general rosary will be prayed at 10: 00 AM. Shuda Funeral Services of Stevens Point & Plover are assisting the family. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established for her children.

Tiffany was born January 26, 1973 in Brookfield. The daughter of Kevin and Linda (Maslowski) Smith. She grew up in South Milwaukee and graduated from High School in 1991. She earned her associates degree for Administrative Assistant from M.A.T.C. She moved to Custer for a short time in 2005 before returning to Milwaukee, and moved to Rosholt in 2009. She was an avid knitter and loved to read.

Tiffany is survived by her children: DJ (David) and Lindsay Hintz. Her parents Kevin and Linda Smith of Rosholt. Her best friend and sister Nicole. She will be sadly missed by many family members and friends.

Lucille Wienke

Lucille A.. Wienke, 73, 1100 Sunset Blvd., Stevens Point, died Friday February 4, 2011, at St. Michaels Hospital. No public services will be held. Shuda Funeral Services & Crematory of Plover and Stevens Point assisted the family with arrangements. Mrs. Wienke was born November 27, 1927, in Illinois., the daughter of the late Thomas and Grace (Plato) Fiedor. She was married to Charles Wienke on Dec. 8, 1952, he passed away in 2001.

Ambrose Kenowski

Ambrose J. Kenowski age 90 formerly of Plover passed away Friday February 11, 2011 at the Crystal River Nursing Center in Waupaca.

A mass of Christian burial for Ambrose will be at 10: 30 AM Wednesday February 16, 2011 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. Fr. Greg Bohren will officiate. Friends and family will gather from 4: 00 - 8: 00 PM on Tuesday at the Shuda - Plover Funeral Home in Plover. A general rosary will be prayed at 7: 00 PM that evening at the funeral home. Visitation will also take place on Wednesday from 9: 30 AM - 10: 15 AM at the church. Burial will be at the St. Bronislava Parish cemetery.

Ambrose was born December 15, 1920 to Felix and Martha (Werowinski) Kenowski in Amherst. He grew up in Arnott and worked on the family farm and before moving to Chicago as a young man, he also worked at H.O. Wolding Trucking. He married Virginia Boursier October 2, 1943 in Arnott. After marriage, the couple lived in Chicago for five years before moving to the Plover area. Ambrose worked at Pre-Way for 33 years before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, deer hunting, all of the outdoors, and specially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ambrose is survived by his six children: James (Judy) Kenowski, Scandinavia; Suzanne Slowinski, Plover; Katherine (Dave Firkus) Meshak, Custer; Lucy Retzke, Amherst; Angela (Edward) Kraklow, Stevens Point; Andy (Tracy Bretl) Kenowski, Plover. 14 grandchildren and 26 great - grandchildren. Two brothers: Ray Kenowski, Amherst and Henry (Adeline) Kenowski, Plover. One sister: Bernice Laskowski, Torun. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Virginia in 1980, two sisters and two brothers.

Florene P. Sanders

Florene P. Sanders age 97 of Stevens Point passed away Friday afternoon February 11, 2011 at the Portage County Health Care Center, where she has resided since 2006.

Funeral services for Florene will be at 10: 00 AM on Tuesday February 15, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Jerzy Rabacz will officiate. Visitation will be from 9: 00 AM until the time of services at the church on Tuesday. Shuda Funeral Service & Crematory of Stevens Point and Plover is assisting the family.

Florene was born October 27, 1913 in Stevens Point, the daughter of John and Pauline (Sharkowski) Hoerter. She attended St. Joseph grade school and Emerson High School. She was employed at Campbells Department Store in Stevens Point for several years. Florene married John Grasamkee in 1940 in Stevens Point, he passed away in 1954. She married Joseph Sanders in 1958 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a long time member of St. Joseph Church and the St. Ann's Alter Society.

Florene is survived by her niece: Evie (Joe) Pieczynski, Plover. Four nephews: Frederick (Joan) Hoerter, Plover; Thomas (Neva) Hoerter, Stevens Point; Robert (Kay) Hoerter, Urbandale, IA; Rhody (Judy) Hoerter, Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph in 2001, her brother, George and her sister and brother-in-law: Irene (George) Grubba.

Florene's family would like to thank you to the staff at Portage County Health Care Center for their love and kindness given to Florene. They truly made it her home!

Kim A. Gross

Kim A. Gross, age 56, of Mosinee passed away Friday Feb. 11, 2011 at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A memorial service in celebration of life for Kim will be held at 2: 00 PM on May 21, 2011 at the Lion's Park in Knowlton. Shuda Funeral Service & Crematory of Stevens Point and Plover is assisting the family.

Kim was born October 20, 1954 in Decorah, IA the son of Walter and Geneva (Crain) Gross. He graduated from North Fayette High School in West Union, IA in 1972. He married Sue Ann Tillman on October 5, 1979 in Stateline, NV. The couple lived in IA for ten years before moving to Mosinee. Kim was a meat cutter until 2001. He then served as a manager assisting his wife in running the family business of Lakeview Log Cabin Resort. He was a member of the North American Fishing Club and The Trappers Association.

Kim is survived by his wife Sue Ann, their daughter: Holly (Mike Thompson) Gross; their sons: Forrest (Stephanie) Gross and Alan (Jessica Luduc) Gross. Seven grandchildren: Aria, Forrest, Owen, Anna, McKenna, Shauna, and Dalton. His mother Geneva Gross. Two brother-in-laws Steven and Scott Tillman. He was preceded in death by his father Walter; his father and mother-in law Jay and Olga Tillman; his brother Kendall; his brother-in-law Stuart Tillman; his sister-in-law Nancy Tillman and his nephew Cody Tillman.

Kim was a determined rock hound and a true outdoors man. He was skilled, knowledgeable, driven, and goal orientated. He was successful in all he knew he loved to do. He spent most of his retirement enriching the lives of his grandchildren who warmed his heart to the end.

Jerry Chojnacki

Jerome "Jerry" Chojnacki age 74 of Custer passed away Saturday February 12, 2011 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.

A mass of Christian burial for Jerry will be at 10: 30 AM on Thursday February 17, 2011 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Very Rev. John Potaczek will officiate. Burial will be at the Guardian Angel cemetery. Visitation will be from 4: 00 - 8: 00 PM on Wednesday at the Plover - Shuda Funeral Home in Plover. A general Rosary will be prayed at 6: 30 Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Thursday visitation will be from 9: 30 AM - 10: 15 AM at St. Stephens Church. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Jerry was born October 7, 1936 in the Town of Stockton, the son of Stanley and Lillian (Firkus) Chojnacki. He grew up in the Stevens Point area and attended local schools. He began his career at the Waupaca Foundry and retired after 35 years. Jerry was an avid classic car enthusiast, a skilled winemaker and joke teller. He loved family functions, and was a loving father.

He is survived by his three sons: Thomas and Chris, both of Amherst and Rick of Stevens Point. His granddaughter Raquel and his special friend Eileen Glodowski. Four brothers: Stanley (Theresa) , Stockton; Leonard (Betty) , Amherst Jct.; Florian (Shirley) , Custer; Louis (Lorraine), Wisconsin Rapids. Five sisters: Margie Glodowski, Amherst; Theresa (Ernest) Daniczyk, Plover; Patricia (Michael) Nord, Stevens Point; Mary Rycman, Plover; Rosalie Chojnacki, Plover. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael, two brothers: Francis and Hank.

Harold P. Taylor

Harold P. Taylor, 62, of Plover, WI, died Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Ministry Saint Michael's Hospital, after a lengthy battle with Chronic Obstructive Puliminary Disease (COPD) .

A celebration of life service for Harold will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Plover - Shuda Funeral Home in Plover. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at the Plover Funeral Home. Harold was born December 15, 1948 in Cordele, GA, the son of Jerry and Ruby (Bullington) Taylor. After attending college Harold entered the United States Army on October 12, 1970 in Vienna, GA. He earned a Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged on August 8, 1972.

After serving his country Harold returned to Cordele and began working at the family construction business. He later became a long haul trucker and moved to Wisconsin in 1993 after visiting the area many times. He owned and operated his own trucking company until retiring in 2005. Harold enjoyed motorcycle riding, hunting, target shooting, fishing, woodworking, and was a collector of antiques. Harold loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his children: Rachel King, Woodbury, GA; Brandon Taylor, Plover; Jennifer Passineau, Chicago; Dillon Passineau, Plainfield; Janessa Passineau, Plainfield. One granddaughter Taylor Rae King. His sister Gwen Taylor-Young, Cordele, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gerald.
