Marie Moede
Marie Moede, 89, formerly of Algoma, died Monday, May 12, 2003, at Parkview Manor Nursing Center. Marie was born June 23, 1913, in the town of Pierce, to the late Louis and Mary (Jerabek) Bathke. She married Ervin Moede on Sept. 4, 1934, in the town of Pierce. She farmed, along with her husband, in the Casco area until his death. He preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1991.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Myrna and Harold Sisel, Green Bay; two grandchildren, Shawn Frush, Indiana; Shad Sisel, Green Bay; two great-grandchildren, Madeline Sisel, Maralee Frush; three sisters, Alvina Rodrian, Green Bay; Viola (Carl) Lawrenz, Algoma; Ruth Blahnik, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Elvira Heider, Luxemburg; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one son, Mahlon; two brothers-in-law, Reinhold Rodrian and David Blahnik; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernard and Mildred Moede, Henry Moede, Clarence and Amanda Moede, Fred and Emily Moede, Viola and Alvin Jahn, Orville Heider.

There was no visitation. A private funeral was held Saturday, May 17. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home. Wiesner and Massart Funeral Home, Casco, handled the arrangements.

Thomas Ackerman
Thomas Ackerman, 64, Wausau, lost his battle with mesothelioma at home with his family by his side on Sunday, May 11, 2003.

He was born on Jan. 28, 1939, in Sturgeon Bay, son of the late Leo and Calista (Baxter) Ackerman. On Oct. 21, 1977, he married Sylvia Abrahamson in Wausau. She survives.

Following service in the U.S. Navy, Tom matriculated at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Subsequently, he began a career with Wausau Insurance Companies and attained an MBA from Cardinal Stritch College, Milwaukee. He retired from Wausau Insurance in 1995 while serving as regional claims manager in Charlotte, N.C. Tom also retired from Bituminous Insurance of Charlotte in 2001, where he served as claims manager.

Besides his wife, Sylvia Ackerman, Wausau, survivors include sons, Michael Ackerman, Atlanta, Ga.; and Dr. Carl (Melinda) Williams, Madison; sisters, Mary Jo (Mark) Seidl, Algoma; and Jean Schriever, Whitewater; brothers, Dr. Robert (Barbara) Ackerman, Henderson, Nev.; and Terry (Linda) Ackerman, Middleton.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Wausau Community Chapel. Rev. Lou Rosetti officiated. Family greeted friends following the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Marshfield Clinic Oncology Research Department in memory of Tom Ackerman.

Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home assisted the family. Albert Brusda
Albert Brusda, age 77, of West Kewaunee, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at his home. He was born Jan. 15, 1926, at West Kewaunee, to the late Albert and Pauline (Doperalski) Brusda. Albert served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. After his service he worked as an electrician in Baltimore, Md., until retiring and moving back to Kewaunee on the home farm.

Survivors include several cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Andrew.

Friends called after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at St. Therese Parish/St. Hedwig Site at East Krok. Funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m., with Fr. Terry LaCombe officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee, assisted the family with arrangements.

Lucy J. Jonet
Lucy J. Jonet, 74, Tonet, died early Sunday morning, May 11, 2003, at a Green Bay hospital. She was born Aug. 9, 1928, in Namur, to the late Louis and Adele (Macaux) Delfosse.On Aug. 13, 1945, Lucy and Peter Q. Jonet were married at St. Mary's of the Snow Church, Namur. He preceded her in death Jan. 4, 1993.Together they owned and operated Pete Jonet's Bar in Tonet for 42 years, retiring in September of 2000.Lucy enjoyed making quilts, pillows and rag rugs to make Christmas special for her family. She enjoyed playing cards, her friends at the Homemakers Club, and time spent with her family.

Survivors include her five children, James (Gail) Jonet, Thomas (Sue) Jonet, all of Luxemburg; Terrie Flessert, Sheboygan; Jean (Brent) Alberts, Oconto Falls; Joan (Jerry) Diederich, Luxemburg; 11 grandchildren, James Jr. (Reenie) Jonet, Tammy (Dusty) Hoffmann, Scott Jonet (Chris Moser), Connie (Terry) Heraly, Diane Flessert, Kristie (Bob) Voechting, Kevin (Kristi) Flessert, Heather (Tom) Wusterbarth, Ben Alberts (Kate Munger), Amanda Alberts, Ryan Diederich; 15 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Cody and Abby Nowak, Samantha, Catarina and Jayde Heraly, BreyAnna and Dalton Flessert, Harlan and Issac Voechting, Kailee and Mariah Flessert, Tori, Sierra and Preston Wusterbarth; one brother and sister-in-law, Wilfred (Lorraine) Delfosse, Green Bay; six sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Betty (Alois) Seidl, Algoma; Clara Balza, Sturgeon Bay; Martha Annoye, Luxemburg; Barbara Jandrin, Casco; Marie Rollin, Green Bay; Ceil (Cy) LeCaptain, Forestville; many nieces and nephews. Lucy was preceded in death by one grandson, Jay Jonet; one great-grandson, Kyle Flessert; one sister-in-law and five brothers-in-law, Elmer Balza, Harry Annoye, Lauraine (Lionel) Ruben, Francis Jandrin, Lee Rollin.

Friends called at McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 13. Visitation continued between 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Joseph Church, Champion.

Prayer service was at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, led by Rev. Milton Suess. Funeral was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the church, with Rev. Dean Dombroski officiating. Burial was in St. Martin cemetery, Tonet.

A special thank you is extended to the staff of St. Vincent Hospital, seventh floor CCU, for care given to Lucy.

Allen Albrecht
Allen Albrecht, 71, of Gulfport, Miss., passed away at the Tulane Medical Center, New Orleans, La., on Tuesday, April 22, 2003. He was a resident of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport since September of 2002. Mr. Albrecht was born in Algoma on Jan. 1, 1932, to the late William and Cora (Umberham) Albrecht.

He graduated from Algoma High School and he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in Green Bay in February of 1951, serving his country for almost 20 years.

His military assignments included the NAVRESCSTA in Washington, D.C., where he represented the Navy as Color Guard for Admiral William Halsey and former U.S. Secretary of State John Foster Dulles. Significant military awards included the Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy Occupation Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal (4th Award). He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Kewaunee Key Lodge No. 174, and a member of the Scottish Rite.

Mr. Albrecht resided in the Pass Christian, Miss., area after his retirement, where he worked for various private civilian defense contractors.

He is survived by one daughter, Amber Naugle of Lake Worth, Fla.; three sons, Blair (Dianne) of Saucier, Miss.; Paul (Debbie) and Kevin of Pass Christian, Miss.; a sister, Shirley (Jack) Munson of Charlottesville, Va.; two brothers, Bill (Veryl) Albrecht of Marquette, Mich.; and Jeff (Mary) of Silver Lake, Wis.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family called at the Armed Forces Retirement Home Chapel in Gulfport, where a funeral service followed on Friday, April 25. Burial, with full military honors, was in the Biloxi National cemetery, Biloxi, Miss.

Magdalen M. Bellin
Magdalen M. Bellin, 82, Algoma, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003.

She was born Sept. 27, 1920, in the town of Lincoln to the late Julian and Catherine (Jandrin) Fenendael. She married Emery Bellin in 1939 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Lincoln. He preceded her in death in 1970. Magdalen farmed, along with her husband, in the town of Lincoln, before moving to Algoma. She was a member of St. Mary Altar Society, was active at East Shore Industries and did volunteer reading at St. Mary School.

Magdalen is survived by her children, Darlene Harmann, Sturgeon Bay; Lyle (Mary) Bellin, St. Charles, Ill.; Julie (Rick) Vandermause, Slinger; Carolyn Bellin and husband, Duane Brandt, Milwaukee; eight grandchildren, Stacy (Rob) Stutz, John (Amy) Harmann, Kevin Harmann, Helene Bellin and fiance Ross Feldkirchner, Peter (Kelly) Bellin, Erik (Wendy) Vander-mause, Craig Vandermause, Brent Vandermause; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Margaret Stutz, Ethan Vandermause; four sisters, Agnes LeDocq, Genieve Monfils, Catherine Monfils, Helen Annoye.

She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Wayne Harmann, and one brother, Marvin Fenendael.

Friends called from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at Wiesner and Massart Funeral Home, Algoma, and again Thursday, from 10-11 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, Algoma. Prayer service was held Wednesday at 7 p.m. The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at the church, with Fr. Bill Kuhr officiating. Burial was in St. Hubert cemetery, Rosiere.

Warren R. Johnsen
Warren R. Johnsen, 68, Algoma, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at his home after a short illness.

He was born to Jonas and Esther Johnsen in Chicago, Ill., on Dec. 17, 1934. He married Joyce O'Donnell March 31, 1990, in Arlington Heights, Ill. The couple moved to Algoma in 1997 due to Warren's love for hunting and fishing. Warren is survived by his wife, Joyce; five children and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local American Cancer Society chapter.

Funeral services for Warren were held Wednesday, May 7, at the Marsh Funeral Home, Gurnee, Ill, (847) 336-0127. Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, assisted the family with local arrangements.

Vivian M. Johnson
Vivian M. Johnson, 76, Green Bay, passed away Monday, May 5, 2003, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center. She was born May 24, 1926, in rural Luxemburg. She was the daughter of the late Eli and Jenny (Thayse) Fenendael and stepdaughter of Engelbert Rank. On July 18, 1945, she married Harvey Johnson of Duvall, and he preceded her in death in 1980.

Together they owned and operated Moonlight Haven Dairy Farm, north of Luxemburg, for over 30 years. During much of that time, she also taught in one- and two-room schools. Vivian enjoyed music, traveling, reading and playing Scrabble. She and Harvey learned to swim and downhill ski in their 40s, and enjoyed these activities with their children for many years.

Vivian is survived by six children, Deanna (Gary) Jonet, De Pere; Marilyn (Ken) Secor, Casco; Mary (Fred) Wilson, Memphis, Tenn.; Melinda Johnson, Bloomington, Ind.; Kurt (Alycia) Johnson, Greenleaf; Beth Johnson, New Franken; six grandchildren, Sherry Jonet, Allouez; Nathan Secor, Casco; Jon Secor, Madison; Gabe Wilson, Memphis, Tenn.; Hannah and Isaak Johnson, Greenleaf; six brothers- and sisters-in-law, Frances Fenendael, Margaret Johnson, both of Luxemburg; Homer (Elaine) Johnson, Green Bay; Blanche (Donald) Christoff, Abrams; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Goldie Fenendael, Clifford Fenendael; one brother-in-law, Harold Johnson; and one sister-in-law, Catherine Fenendael.

Visitation is at MALCORE Funeral Home, Green Bay, from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 8. Parish wake service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Willebrord Church, Green Bay, from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the time of the funeral. The funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Ken DeGroot, O. Praem, officiating. Burial will be in St. Amand's cemetery, Walhain.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Brown County Mental Health Center and Dr. Mark Gardon and the staff at Aurora BayCare Medical Center for their gentle and compassionate care.

Clare C. Richter
Clare C. Richter, 84, Luxemburg, died Sunday morning, May 4, 2003, in Green Bay.
She was born on Aug. 12, 1918, in Theresa, Wis., to the late Leonard and Florence (Haessly) Richter. Clare was a housekeeper for Rev. William Hemauer for over 50 years. He preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1997. Her enjoyments included gardening and spending time with her cats.

Clare is survived by very close friends, Marie Miller, Chilton; Mary Kay Seidl, Joan and Bill Seidl, all of Luxemburg; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Anthony.

Friends called at St. Mary's Church, Luxemburg, between 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 7. The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the church, with Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Burial was in St. Theresa cemetery, Theresa. McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, assisted the family.

A special thank you is extended to Unity Hospice and the Staff of Harbor House, especially Jean Howard, for care given to Clare.
