Cheryl A. Delo

Cheryl A. Delo, age 45, Kewaunee, formerly of Loyal, died at St. Luke's Hospital, Milwaukee, on Monday, March 31, 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 4, at the Loyal United Methodist Church.

Rev. Wendell Williams and Rev. Bob Warmouth will officiate and burial will follow in the Loyal cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bob Houts, Paul Delo, Mike Delo, Justin Delo, Mike Carey and Robert Wesle. Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home, in Loyal, on Thursday, April 3, from 6-9 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Cheryl Ann Delo was born on Jan. 4, 1958, in Marshfield, the daughter of Merlin and Nancy (Colby) Delo.

She was raised in the town of Beaver and educated in the Loyal Public Schools, graduating from Loyal High School in 1976.

Cheryl then attended UW-Whitewater for five years, where she received her teaching certificate in special education.

She taught in the Spencer School District for four years and then moved to Kewaunee where she has taught for the past 12 years.

She resided in Kewaunee at the time of her death. Cheryl was a member of Community Congregational Church and had many interests, but especially enjoyed traveling and reading.

She will be sadly missed by her parents, Merlin and Nancy Delo of Loyal; one sister, Audrey (Randy) Reading of Mequon; four brothers, Randy Delo, Bradenton, Fla.; Clay (Margie) Delo, Scott (Christina) Delo and Shannon Delo, all of Loyal; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Rick, and one sister, Susan, in infancy.

Mrs. Mansel (Norma) Slack

Mrs. Mansel (Norma) Slack, age 84, of Green Bay and De Pere, formerly of Kewaunee, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at De Pere.

She was born Norma Leah Wilkinson, May 17, 1918, at Mt. Hope, to the late Lewis and Hannah (Peterson) Wilkinson.

Norma graduated from Mt. Hope High School in 1936 and Platteville State Teachers College in 1939 with a three-year upper grade teachers certificate.

She taught in Juneau for three and a half years and later taught eighth grade English at Marquette Middle School in Kewaunee for 14 years until retiring in June 1980.

She married Mansel Slack Dec. 29, 1942, at Baton Rouge, La., and lived in Kewaunee from January 1946 to November 1972 where Mansel was an industrial arts teacher at Kewaunee High School for many years.

The couple lived in Green Bay and De Pere since 1972.

Norma was a longtime member of Community Congre-gational Church in Kewaunee and past Sunday School superintendent.

She also belonged to many organizations including the Eastern Star, bridge clubs and Jolly Couples.

Outside of teaching, time was spent raising her family and enjoying a mother's role.

Her children and grandchildren meant everything to her.

Survivors include her husband, Mansel Slack; two sons and daughters-in-law, Al and Gloria Slack, Green Bay; Terry and Julie Slack, Ke-waunee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debby and Jeff Glackin, Middletown, N.J.; Sue and Bill Mahlock, West Chester, Ohio; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and one brother, George Wilkinson.

She was preceded in death by twin infant daughters, Mary and Marie; three brothers, Orville Wilkinson, Kent Wilkinson and Lloyd Wilkinson; and two sisters, Marie Cliff and Ada Updike.

Friends called after 4 p.m. Friday, March 28, at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee, and after 10 a.m. Saturday until time of services at Community Congregational Church, Kewaunee.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the church, with the Rev. Robert Warmouth officiating and with burial in Riverview cemetery, Kewaunee.

Memorials may be sent to Community Congregational Church, 502 Center Street, Kewaunee, WI 54216.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the Renaissance Assisted Living and Unity Hospice for their compassionate care.

Samuel Martin Wenz
Samuel Martin Wenz, 89, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2003, at a nursing home in Naperville, Ill.

He was born in Algoma on Aug. 10, 1913.

He and his wife, Edna (deceased 1989), lived with their daughter, Donna, in Aurora, Ill., since 1972.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Algoma and St. John's Lutheran Church in Rankin.

He was the co-founder of Algoma Lumber Company and had various farms in Kewaunee and Door counties over the years.

He was a longtime leader and supporter of Recovery, Inc., a support group that focuses on helping people with mental illnesses.

Survivors include four daughters, Donna (William) Wenthen, Orange Beach, Ala.; Carol (LaVerne) Yero, Omaha, Neb.; Betty Sawdo, Scottville, Mich.; and June (Michael) Delwiche, Sturgeon Bay.

Also, two sons, David Wenz, Shawano; and Richard (Jean) Wenz, Green Bay.

There are 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends called at the Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home, 1617 Flora Ave., Algoma, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2.

Services followed at 11 a.m. with Rev. Howard Batt officiating.

He will be buried next to his beloved wife, Edna, at Evergreen cemetery in Algoma.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Arthritis Foundation in memory of Sam and Edna.

Dr. Robert G. Wochos

Dr. Robert G. Wochos, 82, De Pere, died Sunday, March 23, 2003.

He was born June 8, 1920, in Green Bay, to Dr. and Mrs. Frank J. Wochos.

Dr. Wochos (Bob) grew up in Kewaunee, where he graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1938.

He received his BA and MD degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1942 and 1944, respectively.

Following medical school, he performed his internship at the John Sealy Hospital at the University of Texas in Galveston.

Dr. Wochos served in the U.S. Army Air Force (Medical Corps) in Germany from 1945 through 1947.

He then returned to Madison for his residency in surgery from 1947 through 1951.

Dr. Wochos practiced surgery in San Luis Obispo, Calif., from 1951 through 1954 and in Green Bay from 1954 until his retirement in 1985.

In Green Bay, he was a founder of the Beaumont Clinic and served as President of the Brown County Medical Society and Chief of the medical staff at St. Vincent Hospital.

Dr. Wochos was a member of the Wisconsin State Medical Society, American Medical Association, Wisconsin State Surgical Society, American College of Surgeons and was certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Wochos married Judith Scott in Madison in 1949, who survives him together with his children and their spouses, Lisa Wochos and Stuart Rich, Lummi Island, Wash.; Scott and Cindy Wochos, Green Bay; and Sally and Richard Dewey, Green Bay; as well as nine grandchildren.

One son, Robert, predeceased him; as did his sister, Frances W. Kelley of Green Bay.

Dr. Wochos took time away from his practice and family to serve two tours of duty on the hospital ship, Medical Project Hope, in Columbia in 1967 and Brazil in 1973.

He and Judy traveled widely, giving him many opportunities to pursue his interest in photography.

Bob also spent many happy hours with his family, boating in the Door County area.

Dr. Wochos is remembered warmly by his many friends and colleagues, as well as hundreds of patients who still recall his empathy, wisdom and kindness.

Visitation was held at the Schauer & Schumacher Funeral Home, Green Bay, on Thursday, March 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. and at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 28, at Union Congregational Church, Green Bay, until the time of the funeral service.

The service was performed by Dr. Charles Mize at 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial was at Woodlawn cemetery in Allouez.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to St. Vincent or Bellin Hospitals or a charity of their choice.

Dr. Wochos' family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Renaissance in De Pere and the medical staff at Green Bay Oncology.

Fred Dart

Fred Dart, 99, of Luxemburg, died early Wednesday morning, February 21, 2001, at St. Vincent Hospital with his family at his side.

Fred was born July 23, 1901 to the late Charles and Kate (Jadin) Dart.

He married Mabel Rogers on September 5, 1922 at St. Martin Church in Tonet.

Together they farmed on the Dart homestead from 1927 until their retirement.

She preceded him in death on February 3, 1991.

As a young man, Fred worked at road construction prior to taking over the farm.

He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He also enjoyed rides out in the country.

Survivors include his daughter Rita Delveaux of Green Bay; one son and daughter-in-law Irvin and Betty Dart of Luxemburg; six grandchildren: Dale and Mary Dart, Ken and Cathy Dart, Carol and Roger Wielgus, Elaine Marin, Mary Ann and Paul Huguet, Ronald and Jeanne Delveaux; sixteen great-grandchildren: Keith and April Dart, Kim and Paul Baye, Kyle, Christopher, Michael, Joanne, Julie and Jennifer Dart, Jodi Marin, Joe and Christina Marin, Jeff and Nancy Huguet, Craig and Jeannine Huguet, Tamara, Jared, Cody, and Kailee Delveaux; six great-great-grandchildren: twins Neah and Kalah Baye, Maddie Baye, Hunter Dart, Casandra Marin, and Alyssa Huguet.

He was preceded in death by his wife and one sister Libbie Jandrin.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 24, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Sugar Bush.

The Reverend Dean Dombroski officiated.

Entombment was in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

McMahon Funeral Home of Luxemburg assisted the family.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Wampler, the staff of St. Vincent Hospital, and especially Becky and Jim Auer of Rebecca's Retirement Home for the care given to Fred and his family.

Margaret Mary Olk

Margaret Mary Olk, 51, of Algoma, died February 23, 2001 at St. Vincent's Hospital after a year-long battle with Pancreaatic Cancer.

She was born August 17, 1949 in New London to Charles and June Olk.

Margaret graduated from Hortonville High School and studied at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Stony Brook, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

She held degrees in Social Sciences and Music Education.

After graduation from Stony Brook, she worked and studied in Rochester, Minnesota; then moved to Bethel, Alaska where she took a job with Kuskokwim Community College, flying in a small plane to distant villages on the west coast of Alaska to arrange long-distance-delivery college courses in the villages.

After moving to Fairbanks in 1986, she studied music performance and education and was a charter member of the Alaska Chamber Chorale.

In 1999, she moved to Algoma to teach at the high school level.

Margaret was the choral teacher at Kewaunee High School.

Margaret married Michael Heinle, M.D., in Hortonville in 1972.

She is survived by her husband; her parents; three brothers: Michael (Holly) Olk of Hortonville, Timothy (Dianne) Olk of Medina, and James (Barbara) Olk of Shiocton; three sisters: Patricia Neuman of Hortonville, Joan (Jeffrey) Griesbach of Hortonville, and Bethany Olk of Appleton; her mother- and father-in-law Dorothy and Theodore Heinle of Fond du Lac; two brothers-in-law: James (Carol) Heinle of Port Washington and David (Carol) Heinle of Hawley, Minnesota; one sister-in-law Mary (Joseph) Gerlach of Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, God-child, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends from all over the world.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Algoma on Monday, February 26, with Father Bill Kuhr officiating. Burial was at the Union cemetery, Hortonville. Schinderle Funeral Home of Algoma assisted the family.

Richard Blahnik

Richard Blahnik, 82, of 1308 Lincoln St., Kewaunee, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Linden Manor, Kewaunee.

He was born December 1, 1918 in the Town of Carlton to Frank and Mary Plohar Blahnik.

Richard served his country overseas faithfully and proudly during World War II.

After the war he helped operate the family farm in the Town of Carlton before retiring.

He is survived by one brother, Alvin Blahnik, at Kewaunee Health Care Center; one niece and her husband, Lana and Mark Bredael of Cooperstown; one nephew, David Lazansky of Fond du Lac; and cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, sister-in-law Evelyn Blahnik, and nephew Roger Lazansky.

Funeral services were held at Buchanan Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Pratt officiating.

Burial was in Riverview cemetery with full military rites.

Richard's family wishes to thank the staff at Linden Manor for their wonderful care of Richard.

Now the labourer's task is over;
