Bostedt, Glen D.

MADISON - Glen D. Bostedt, age 52, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004. Glen was born on Aug. 15, 1951, the son of Genevieve and Clyde Bostedt. He was raised in Abrams, Wis., and graduated from Oconto Falls High School. Glen continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was proud to be a part of the UW Marching Band. He married Meg Galloway on July 12, 1986, in Neenah. They have two sons, Schuyler Olin, age 15, and Colin Mackenzie, age 13. Glen will be remembered for providing a loving and stable home for his family. Whitewater boating, sailing, hockey, officiating, home improvement, cooking and music were his passions. He spent countless hours training and mentoring young hockey officials, scheduling referees for the Dane County Hockey Officials Association, and serving on the board of the Dane County Youth Hockey Council. Glen could always be counted on to drop whatever he was doing to help one of his many friends or anyone in need. He was a man of many talents, willing to tackle any challenge. Glen is survived by his wife and sons; his mother; his brother, the Rev. David (Jo) Bostedt of California; and his sister, Cheryl (Jim) Helmke of Lena. He is further survived by his in-laws, John and Peg Galloway of Neenah; sister-in-law, Karrie Galloway of Utah; brothers-in-law, Scott (Mary O.) Galloway of Seattle, Tim (Siv Lindgren) Galloway, Ted Galloway, and Pat (Amy) Galloway, all of Neenah; and many nieces and nephews. Friends from the area and around the country, who shared his life and passions, are too numerous to mention, but were held very dear. Glen's father preceded him in death. A memorial to celebrate Glen's life will be held on Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN MEMORIAL UNION IN TRIPP COMMONS. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 12 noon. The family wishes to thank Glen's doctors at Dean Care, the staff of the Neurological ICU at St. Marys Hospital, and the UW Organ Procurement Team for their professional yet tender care. Those who wish may contribute to a memorial education fund for his sons at Summit Credit Union, Madison, or make a donation in Glen's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Boyd, Kevin Clark

MADISON - Kevin Clark Boyd, age 20, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004. Kevin was born on May 20, 1983, the son of Stan Hansen and Debbie Boyd. He was currently a senior in high school at Sun Prairie. After classes he worked as a janitor at the Northside School in Sun Prairie. He is survived by his mother, Debbie Boyd of Sun Prairie; his father, Stanley (Jackie) Hansen of Waterloo; two brothers, Ryan Boyd of Sun Prairie, and Aaron Hansen of Waterloo; a sister, Michelle Hansen of Waterloo; his paternal grandparents, Marguerite and Eugene Hansen of Lakeland, Fla.; and several uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Viola Boyd. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at 11 a.m. at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Kevin was a very helpful, loving, dedicated son who will be deeply missed by his loving family. Crose, Duane E.

MADISON - Duane E. Crose, age 76, of Madison, died on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004. He was born in Madison on Aug. 28, 1927, the son of Ellsworth and Dorothy (Richter) Crose. Duane graduated from East High School, and maintained lifelong friendships with many members of the class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Duane married the former Mariann Thomas on Nov. 3, 1951, at Zion Lutheran Church in Columbus, Wis. He worked for National Guardian Life for 42 years, as a Director of Field Services and Agency Vice President, retiring in 1989. Duane is survived by his wife, Mariann of Madison; two sons, Gregory Crose, and Thomas (Michele) Crose, both of Madison; three daughters, Beth (Larry) Fleming of Madison, Amy Mitchell of Morrisonville, and Diane (Butch) Dorn of Madison; six grandchildren, Cory Crose, Jesica, Chad and Ryan Crose, and Brandon and Jenna Mitchell; a sister, Marilyn Minter of McFarland; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Jack. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, with the Rev. John Swanson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, 2004. Dille, Mabel Marie

MADISON - Mabel Marie (Barron) Dille, age 87, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004. She was preceded in death in 1997, by her beloved husband, Harold. Mabel was born Feb. 26, 1917, in Hawkins, Wis., to John and Margaret (Wiesmann) Barron. She was married to Harold Kenneth Dille on June 27, 1938. Mabel was employed by Oscar Mayer & Company until her retirement in 1978. She was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Monona. Mabel is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline (William) Ketchum of Madison; a son, Michael (Sherran) Dille of Madison; a son, William (Susan) Dille of McFarland; four grandchildren, Geoffrey (Laura) Dille of Madison, Liesle (Michael) Markevitch of Wausau, John (Kristine) Harms of Madison, and Kristen (Jason) Kraemer of Monona; and three great-granddaughters, Mallory, Abigal, and Ellise. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive. Gerber, Justine A.

VERONA - Justine Ann Gerber, age 94, fell peacefully asleep in God's arms on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Four Winds Manor, Verona. She was born on May 20, 1909, in New York City. Her mother died when she was two years old. Her father, unable to care for her, placed her in the orphanage. In 1915, she was sent on the Orphan Train to Iowa. She was adopted by a family who later moved to Minnesota. It was there she met and married Harold Gerber on Oct. 12, 1927, and resided in the Verona/ Mount Horeb area. She was left alone at an early age to raise her six children. She was determined to keep her family together and made sure that each of them received a good religious and academic education. In 1948, she moved her family to Middleton, and worked for Oakwood Village. She took a correspondence course in nursing and became the first registered practical nurse there. After retiring from Oakwood, she did private nursing. She enjoyed playing her organ and crocheting afghans for her family. She was a member of Middleton Senior Center, St. Luke's Church and Merry Mission. The family remembers her as a person who especially loved children and enjoyed the simple things in life. She always had a positive attitude and taught us by her own example how to appreciate and make the best of what we have, to try our very best, and to be honest and fair. She is survived by five children, Robert Gerber of Blue Mounds, Patricia (Rufus) Legler of Verona, Betty Domine of Waukesha, Charles Gerber of Middleton, and Linda (Charlie) Pater of Coloma, Mich.; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Peter Gerber; and two grandsons, Jeffery Gerber and Bruce Legler. Funeral services will be held at ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, with the Rev. Stephen Ganzkow-Wold presiding. Burial will be in St. Luke's cemetery, Middleton. MINERAL POINT - Joseph L. "Joe" Grimm, age 90, of Mineral Point, died on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at his home. A Mass Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Burial will be held in St. Mary's cemetery. Hauge, Maxine Alice (Goodweiler)

MADISON - Maxine Alice (Goodweiler) Hauge, age 77, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Meriter Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on June 3, 1926, in Avoca, the daughter of Raymond and Alice (Simrad) Greene. In 1943, she was united in marriage to Billy Goodweiler, who preceded her in death in 1987. Maxine then later married Alfred "Bud" Hauge, who also preceded her in death in 2000. She was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church, and president of the XYZ Club. She was a member of the Eagles Club. In her younger years, Maxine enjoyed square dancing. Maxine enjoyed playing cards, baking, and sewing, especially making quilts. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was a big part of their lives. She is survived by her three children, Denny Goodweiler of Stoughton, Donald (Natalya) Goodweiler of Middleton, and Kathryn (John) Linden of Madison; 11 grandchildren, Tui, James, Cassandra, Donald Jr., Troy, Tricia, Kita, Justin, Kaelynn, Krista and Kirt; four great-grandchildren, Chloe, Collin, Adam and Caleb; a sister, Ellen (Elgin) Porter of DeForest; three brothers, Vilas (Adaire) Greene of Onalaska, Bob Greene of Madison, and Ivan Greene of Merrimac; and is also survived by other relatives and friends. Maxine was preceded in death by her two husbands, Billy and Alfred; her parents; a son, Dean; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie; and four brothers, Arnold, Clarie, Merlin and Billy Greene. Funeral services will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, on Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at 11 a.m. with Pastor George Bauman officiating. Herling, Dorothy

WAUNAKEE - Dorothy Herling, age 83, died on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center. She was born on July 11, 1920, in Madison, the daughter of Ober and Amanda (Herritz) Pederson. Dorothy graduated from Madison East High School. She married Robert "Bob" Herling on Aug. 26, 1940, in Madison, he preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1997. Along with her husband, Dorothy enjoyed the outdoors. She also loved hunting, fishing, reading and playing euchre. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. During World War II, Dorothy worked as a lab technician for Scanlan Labs. She will be greatly missed by her family including her children; Steve (Geri) Herling of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Diane (Greg) Evert of Waunakee, Debbie (Don) Niesen of Iron River, Wis., and Craig (Karen) Herling of Sun Prairie; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; and her sister, Ruth Busse. Private funeral services will be held. Homburg, Henry W. "Hank"

COTTAGE GROVE - Henry W. "Hank" Homburg, age 87, died at his residence on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004. He was born on Feb. 28, 1916, in Cottage Grove, the son of Albert and Lydia (Freudenberg) Homburg. He married the former Alma Seling on March 18, 1939, in Cottage Grove. Hank was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and was a past president of the church as well as serving as a director for the Hope Lutheran Cottage Grove cemetery for many years. He retired from the Cottage Grove Co-op after many years, he was the treasurer for the Cottage Grove Fire Department for 28 years, and he was a Cottage Grove town board supervisor for 12 years. Hank farmed in the town of Cottage Grove for most of his life. Survivors include his wife, Alma of Cottage Grove; two sons, Robert (Margaret) Homburg and Ronald (Vicki) Homburg, all of Cottage Grove; and two daughters, Jean (Richard) Lande of Cottage Grove, and Carol (Bill) McGibbon of Ann Arbor, Mich. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Baumann of Madison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Irene and Myrtle; and a brother, Melvin. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3702 County Highway AB. The Rev. Chris Lee-Thompson will officiate. Ingersoll, Arlene H.

BELMONT - Arlene H. Ingersoll, age 72, of Belmont, died on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Don and Marilyn HospiceCare Center, Madison. Arlene was born on Dec. 5, 1931, in Belmont, the daughter of William and Helen (Bockhop) Mester. She was united in marriage on May 28, 1949, at Peace Lutheran Church, Belmont to Gordon Ingersoll Jr. She and Gordon farmed in the Belmont area after their marriage until 1970. She then worked for Knebel's Processing Plant in Belmont from 1969 until 2000. She and Gordon enjoyed many summers in Chetek, Wis., camping and fishing. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Belmont. She is survived by her husband, Gordon Ingersoll Jr. of Belmont; two daughters, Vickie (Jon) Schellpfeffer of Verona, and Marsha (James) Spakowicz of Oshkosh; five grandchildren, Marc (Becky) Schellpfeffer, Amy (Justin) Niemetscheck, Nic (Maria Bigwood) Schellpfeffer, Sandy (Kevin Kohfeldt) Spakowicz and Daniel Spakowicz; a great-grandson, Tyler Schellpfeffer; and a brother, Hubert "Hubie" (Joyce) Mester of Belmont. She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Gordon and Ada Ingersoll; sister-in-law, Sherry Reuter Ingersoll; and nephew and godson, Wayne Mester. Kriigel, Helen L.

NORWALK, WIS. - Helen L. Kriigel, age 85, of Norwalk passed away on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born on Sept. 27, 1918, to Harvey and Edna (Klimpton) Mc Elhose. In 1939, she was united in marriage to Paul B. Newlun, and from 1963 to 1975, they lived in Waunakee, where Helen worked at Central Wisconsin Center. Helen was a farm wife and homemaker most of her life. She farmed with Paul in LaFarge and Ontario, Wis., until his death in 1983. In 1985, Helen was united in marriage to Raymond I. Kriigel. Helen was a devoted faithful member of the Bethany Lutheran Church at Sandhill. She had a great love of family and friends and loved her flowers and garden. She is survived by her husband, Raymond I. Kriigel; two sons, Robert (Lori) Newlun of Windsor, and Dennis (Nancy) Kriigel of Courtland, Va.; a daughter, Peggy (Ira) Bainbridge of Brookfield; seven grandchildren, Robby Newlun, Donna (Mike) Blythe, Dawn Kriigel, Deborah Siever, David Bainbridge, Kim Preston and Kurt Bainbridge; two great-grandchildren, Griffin and Jessica Newlun of Ontario; three brothers, Floyd (Betty) Mc Elhose of LaFarge, Leon (Bess) Mc Elhose of Ontario, and Larry (Doris) Kriigel of Florence, Ariz.; two sisters, Sarah Mc Elhose of Ontario, and Doris Faulkner of Monticello, Ga.; and is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Newlun; her parents, Edna and Harvey; brothers and sisters, Harold Mc Elhose, who was killed in action in Italy during World War II, Clarence Mc Elhose, Ray Matheny, Opal Mc Elhose and Genevieve Hanratty. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at 11 a.m. at BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH, Sandhill, near Cashton. Pastor Jason Stanton will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the TORKELSON FUNERAL HOME in Cashton. Levzow, Maurice Ralph

RIO - Maurice Ralph Levzow, age 84, of Wyocena township, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Meriter Hospital in Madison. Maurice was born on Dec. 26, 1919, in Marquette County, the son of Joseph Chris and Clara (Greenwald) Levzow. He served his country in the U.S. Army from Nov. 18, 1941 through Oct. 15, 1945, during the African Campaign. He was united in marriage to Marcella Lawrence on Feb. 21, 1948, at the Portage Presbyterian Church. They celebrated 55 years of marriage. Maurice was a dairy farmer, beginning his career on March 1, 1948, milking nine cows and today his son, Ralph and family milk 170 head on the family farm. Maurice and his son had a wonderful partnership. He was a life member of the Portage V.F.W. and was also a life member and active in the Rocky Run Riders Snowmobile Club of Wyocena. Maurice was a past 4-H leader. He received the Columbia County Land Conservation Award and the Columbia County Farm Family of the Year Award. The Levzow's hosted the Columbia County Dairy Breakfast on their farm. Maurice believed strongly in farm co-operatives, serving as an AMPI delegate for many years. He enjoyed his daily stops at the Wyocena Townmart, visiting with friends and having a cup of coffee. Maurice is survived by his children, Joyce (Dennis) Jansen of Pardeeville, and Ralph (Becky) Levzow of Rio; three grandchildren, Jean (Mark) Sutfin of Pardeeville, Amanda and Kenneth Maurice Levzow of Rio; brother and sister, Donald (Betty) of Portage, and Elsie Radant of Portage; sisters-in-law, Florence Levzow of Portage and Beatrice Schultz of Mauston; nieces; nephews; other near relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcella, on May 2, 2003; son, Kenneth; sisters, Iva, Gladys and Leta; brothers, Harvey and Oliver; brothers-in-law, Lee Sanborn, Donald Hall and Romain Lawrence; and sister-in-law, Darlene Baerwald. Funeral services for Maurice R. Levzow will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the SMITH FUNERAL HOME in Pardeeville. Pastor C. Keith Epps will officiate. The Portage V.F.W. will conduct full military rites. Burial will follow in the Wyocena cemetery. Mackie, Ruth Oldenburg

MADISON/ VENTURA, CALIF. - Ruth Oldenburg Mackie, age 90, of Madison, and Ventura, Calif., passed away at home in Ventura onTuesday, Feb. 10, 2004. Ruth was born in Madison on Feb. 21, 1913. She was the youngest of five children, Albert, Carl, Edith and Olive, born to Carl and Emma Oldenburg. She grew up in Madison and graduated from Central High School in 1930, with the highest honor of Valedictorian of her class. She also attended the University of Wisconsin. Ruth married David Earl Mackie Sr. in 1937, and they had one son, David. Ruth's intelligence, skills, and competitive spirit served her well in her chosen career as an executive and corporate secretary and office manager. She joined the Celon Company of Madison in 1939, and organized and maintained its demanding national business activities of record keeping, interstate business, and bookkeeping into a smoothly functioning system both in Madison and New York City. Her reputation for performance, business judgment, and loyalty received the highest commendations through the years. Like many women of her era, Ruth enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She created fabulous works of crochet art and knitted countless booties, bonnets and jackets for her loved one's babies. She was an accomplished bridge player who loved the thrill of a good competitive card game with her friends and family. She also had a passion for music and was a remarkable keyboard musician. Ruth played the piano, organ and accordion. Both classically trained and born with a natural talent to play by ear, Ruth could play any tune that was in her head, and there were thousands of them. After more than 60 years of professional life, Ruth retired in Madison where she was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church. She moved to California in 1996 to enjoy the ocean, the warm sun, the sunsets, visits from her mid-western family, and the people she would meet in her later years. "Fufie, " as she was called by her loving family, leaves behind a legacy of strength, determination, and adventure in her family and friends. She is survived by her son and his wife, David and Toni Mackie of Ventura; her great-nephew, Steven Rasmussen, his wife, Lynn; her great-great nieces, Stephanie and Dana; her very special niece, Judy Pollock and her husband, Kenny and their family; her niece, Earleen Rasmussen; her niece, Gwen Frey and her husband, Rex and their family; her niece, Jane Rasmussen and her family; her nephew, Dr. David Smedal, his wife, Janice and their family; her niece, Nancy Smedal; her great niece, Bobbie Taylor and her husband, Don and their family; her granddaughters, Lisa, Christie, Jeneffer and Angelica; her grandsons, Chris and Mark; five great-grandchildren; and her very special extended family members, Teri and Neal Brader of Springfield, Mo., Mel and Marilyn Magnet of Whittier, Calif., and Joanne and Paul Morris of Ventura, Calif. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at 2 p.m. at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive.
