DeWayne Schweinler

SGM. U.S. Army Ret., DeWayne Schweinler, age 78 of Mauston, Wisconsin went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2002 in his home surrounded by his loved ones after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial funeral services will be held Monday, October 21, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at the Wilton Faith Congregational Church, 502 Enderby Street in Wilton, Wisconsin with Reverend Carl Rogers officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. According to his wishes, DeWayne has been cremated.

DeWayne was born July 26, 1924 in Neillsville, Wisconsin the son of Dr. Fredrick and Lillian (Creviere) Schweinler. DeWayne loved his country and spent 26 years in the U.S. Army, serving during World War 2 and overseas in Germany. Among his duties he assisted in the holocaust cleanup. He retired from the Army National Guard as Sergeant Major in 1984. Many knew DeWayne as a greeter in the Mauston K-Mart after his retirement. He touched many lives. In 1948 he married Alice (Pat) Zerbel in Neillsville, spending 54 years together. He loved his wife more than anything in this world and she is the reason that he fought the battle against his disease for as long as he did. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be truly missed. “We Love You PaPa!”

DeWayne is survived by his loving wife, Alice (Pat); sons, Gary (Kim) of Mauston and Mark (Helen) of Waukesha, Wisconsin; daughters, Patty (Donn) Wiest of Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Debbie (Robert) Anderson of Wilton, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also many nieces, nephews and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Kwong, Dr. Kim, and Dr. Larry Boehme of Gundersen Clinic – LaCrosse and also Hospice Touch of Tomah, Wisconsin for all there help and support.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Faith Congregational Church of Wilton or to the Hospice Touch of Tomah, Wisconsin.

Margaret Townley

Margaret Townley, age 97 of Mauston, Wisconsin died Sunday, October 13, 2002 at the Hess Memorial Hospital of Mauston.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 18, 2002 at 11:30 A.M. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Reverend Richard Bonney officiating. Burial will be at the Lyndon Station Village cemetery .

Margaret was born December 11, 1904 in Oconto, Wisconsin the daughter of Francis and Wilhelmina (Yanke) Delorme. In June of 1940 she married Elvin Townley in Wadena, Minnesota . He preceded her in death in June of 1998. Margaret moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Mauston in 1983. She stayed active with the local senior citizens groups and A.A.R.P.

Margaret is survived by her son, Jay of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin; granddaughter, Elizabeth (William) Schumann; grandchildren, Kayla, Melissa and Taylor and a sister, Georgiana Delorme. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Jack, Ben and Tex ; a sister, Beryle and daughter in law, Violet Townley.

Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home on Friday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service at 11:30 A.M.

Wlodzimierz "Walter" Lagowski

Walter Lagowski, age 62 of rural Mauston, Wisconsin died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at the Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 6, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Father Ronald Zinkle, S.J. officiating. Walter will be cremated following the traditional services.

Walter was born February 17, 1940 in Poland the son of Marian and Genowefa (Bajek) Lagowski. He had served in the Polish Military and worked as an automobile machinist.

Walter is survived by daughters, Margaret Bingier of Clarendon Hills, Illinois and Lidia Reilly of Glendale Heights, Illinois; brothers, Jerry (Zofia) Lagowski of Bensonville, Illinois, Victor (Elizabeth) Lagowski of Des Plaines, Illinois; step brother, Mark (Marianna) Lagowski of Poland; sister, Anna (Joseph) Babka of Poland; stepsister, Elizabeth (Andrew) Molenda of Poland and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home on Sunday from 12 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 P.M.

Keith "Bo" Hattle

Keith Hattle, age 79 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin died Monday, September 30, 2002 at the Fairview Nursing Home in Mauston, Wisconsin .

Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Deacon Ken Foster officiating. Keith’s wishes were to be cremated and his cremains will be interred at Walnut Hill cemetery in Baraboo, Wisconsin .

Keith was born December 29, 1922 in Baraboo, Wisconsin the son of Robert and Catherine (Johnson) Hattle. He had been a plumber for many years in the Dells and Lyndon Station area, was a member of the Kilbourn Volunteer Fire Department for 13 years, he enjoyed hunting very much and especially loved gardening, producing his favorite peppers and tomatoes.

Keith is survived by a son, Robert of Wisconsin Dells; daughters, Linda (Doug) Scott and Peggy Coon both of Lake Delton and Sherie (Don) Eldredge of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a sister, Audrey (Tony) D’Acquisto of California; 6 grandchildren; nieces Kim Heidtke and Marcia Voigt and special friends Don and Chris Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald “Dutch” Hattle.

Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home on Saturday from 12 Noon until the time of service at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Clarence Hall, Jr.

Clarence Joseph Hall, Jr., age 76 formerly of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin died Friday, September 27, 2002 at the Fairview Nursing Home of Mauston, Wisconsin.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lyndon Station with Father Ronald Zinkle, S.J. officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Maurice C. Havey Post 5970 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin.

Clarence was born August 26, 1926 in Mauston, Wisconsin the son of Clarence and Rose (Krivitz) Hall. He lived and worked on the family farm in Lyndon Station until 1948 when he joined the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed his four years in the military traveling all over the United States and Europe. On January 10, 1964 he married Rosemary Drabek. They owned and operated a tavern, Pug’s 955 Club in Milwaukee until moving to Lyndon Station in 1976. They enjoyed country living and running a small farming operation until their retirement in 1996.

Clarence is survived by a daughter, Sheree (Alan) Zimprich and grandchildren, Zachary, Taylor Rose and Brady all of Waunakee, Wisconsin; brothers, John (Rita) Hall and James (Judy) Hall both of Lyndon Station; brothers and sisters in law, Diana Richter of Muskego, Wisconsin, Stanley (Kitty) Drabek and Allen Drabek both of Antigo, Wisconsin, Dale (Lynda) Drabek of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, Phyllis (Duane) Doucette of Shiocton, Wisconsin, Kathleen (Terry) Kelly of Evans, Colorado, William (Pat) Drabek of Longview, Washington and Vicki Monnot of New London, Wisconsin. He will be greatly missed by many other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemary in 2000 and a brother in law, George Richter in 1999.

Visitation will be held at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home of Lyndon Station on Wednesday, October 2, 2002 from 8:30 A.M. until 10:15 A.M. and then process to the church for services at 10:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lyndon Station.

Phyllis Schneider

Phyllis Schneider, age 64 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin died Monday, August 12, 2002 at the Hess Memorial Hospital of Mauston, Wisconsin.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 17, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lyndon Station with Father Ronald Zinkle, S.J. officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery.

Phyllis was born December 31, 1937 in Illinois the daughter of Leo and Genevieve (Meyers) Weires. In October of 1963 she married Leo Schneider in Rockford, Illinois. For many years she worked as a cook at Sandy’s Restaurant in Lyndon Station until retiring 2 years ago. She lived on a farm and loved the animals, especially the cats. She also enjoyed cooking and taking care of her flowers and gardens and most of all loved to laugh and joke. She had been a member of the Kildare Township board and served on the ambulance committee and was a devoted member of her church.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Leo; a son, Leo (Andrea) Jr. of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; and brothers, Kenneth (Judy) Weires of Pecotonica, Illinois and Leo (Mary) Weires of Winnebago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Michael.

Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home of Lyndon Station on Friday from 5 to 8 P.M.

Richard Klett

Richard T. Klett, age 54 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at University of Wisconsin Hospital, in Madison, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 23, at 10:30 A.M. at Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Father Thomas Monaghan officiating. Cremation will take place at Castle Rock Cremation Service in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin on a future date.

Richard was born April 15, 1949 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin the son of Robert and Betty Pfeifer. He grew up in Lyndon Station, and on June 14, 1969, he married Cheryl K. Burns of Reedsburg. Shortly thereafter the couple moved to Chicago, where they lived for 20 years and were blessed with a daughter; Tiffany Ann. The family returned to Lyndon Station in 1991. Richard worked at Ho-Chunk Casino as a security officer/EMT. He became an active member of the local community by serving as a volunteer fireman/EMT for the town of Lyndon. He was also elected as Chairperson for the Kildare Township.

Richard is survived by his wife Cheryl Klett, his daughter Tiffany Klett, and his brother Edward Pfeifer, all of whom are from Lyndon Station.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Robert and Betty Pfeifer.

Visitation will be held at Conway-Picha Funeral Home on Friday August 21, from 5 to 8 P.M. and on Saturday August 22, from 9:00 until the time of service at 10:30 A.M.

Florence Walsh

Florence A. Walsh, age 95 of Wisconsin Dells, and Lyndon Station, Wisconsin died Saturday, August 23, 2003 at her home with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, with Father Ronald Zinkle, S.J. officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in Kildare Township, Wisconsin .

Florence was born September 5, 1907 in Hancock, Wisconsin the daughter of John E. and Louise (Selsing) Wetmore. She married Philip A. (Paddy) Walsh in Milwaukee on September 17, 1932 . They moved to the Walsh family farm in Lyndon Station in 1934 where they lived together until his death in 1980. Florence moved to Wisconsin Dells in 1992. Florence attended Bellin Memorial School of Nursing in Green Bay, Wisconsin and began her nursing career at Wood Veteran Hospital in Milwaukee . She worked at Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston, Wisconsin, and Reedsburg Hospital in Reedsburg, Wisconsin . She also worked at Continental Manor in Wisconsin Dells until her retirement in 1975.

Florence is survived by her children: Ann Nate of Wisconsin Dells; Mary (Bernie) Klein of Janesville, Wisconsin; James Walsh of Lyndon Station; Elizabeth (Howie) Stauss of Brookfield, Wisconsin; Francis (Gayle) Walsh of Lyndon Station; Patrick (Barbara) Walsh of Wisconsin Dells; Agnes (Thomas) Robertson of Stoughton, Wisconsin; and Joan (John) Dixon of Wisconsin Dells. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband Philip, her sons; John and Michael, her parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and 2 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, on Monday, August 25 from 5 to 7:30 P.M. with rosary just before 7:00 P.M. and on Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church from 9:00 until the time of service at 10:30 A.M.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Home Health Hospice of Portage, Wisconsin; or the Haiti mission, care of Saint Joseph Catholic Church of Baraboo, Wisconsin ; or the charity of your choice.

Alvin Mrotek

Alvin Mrotek, age 90 of Lake Delton, Wisconsin died Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at the Sauk County Health Care Center of Reedsburg, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 29, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Reverend Steven A. Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Dexterville cemetery.

Alvin was born February 19, 1913 in Kewaunee, Wisconsin the son of Peter and Otelia (Pelisek) Mrotek. In 1939 he married Sophie Lonetree in Valparaiso, Indiana. During World War 2 he worked for Harley Davidson and later worked for American Motors until his retirement.

Alvin is survived by 2 sons, Errol (Pearl) Mrotek of Tomah, Wisconsin and Waldo “Buck” Martin; a brother, Clayton Mrotek of Brown Deer, Wisconsin; a niece, Rebecca Greendeer of Tomah; a nephew, Joseph Lonetree of Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sophie; and a sister, Claire.

Visitation will be held at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin on Friday, August 29, 2003 from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 1 P.M.

Helen Wagner

Helen Whitedog Wanjink Sajei ga “Good Bird” Wagner, age 68 of Necedah, Wisconsin died Thursday, August 28, 2003 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 30, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Reverend Jeffrey Fairchild officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

Helen was born November 29, 1934 at the Hunter's Bridge Village near Galesville, Wisconsin the daughter of Julius and Ida (Littlesoldier) Whitedog. In 1971 she married Joseph Wagner in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She had been employed as a floor checker at the HoChunk Bingo Hall.

Helen is survived by her husband, Joe; sons, Brian, Juan, Chris, Gordon and Casey; a daughter, Colleen; a sister, Geraldine Deere; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Marilyn; a sister, Lucille Blackcoon and a brother, Calvin WhiteEagle.

Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home on Friday, August 29, 2003 from 4 to 8 P.M.
