Rose Roeling

Rose Roeling, age 80 of Mauston, Wisconsin died Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital of LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 16, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mauston with Father Dan Kiedinger officiating. Burial will be at the Lyndon Station Village cemetery.

Rose was born June 15, 1923 in Mauston, Wisconsin the daughter of Peter and Wilhelmena (Kastner) Ruland. For many years she worked at the Bank of Mauston and most recently was the head bookkeeper.

Rose is survived by a son, Patrick (Sue) Roeling of Hammond, Wisconsin; daughters, Penni (John) Lyon of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and Sandi (Mike) Bauer of Hammond; a brother, Peter (Carol) Ruland of Mauston; sisters, Marge Dodge and Betty (Jim) Larson of New Lisbon, Wisconsin and Ann Sitas and Teresa Ypelaar of Mauston; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Roeling; a daughter, Patricia Neustadter; a grandson, Mathew Neustadter; 2 sisters and 1 brother.

Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin on Friday, August 15, 2003 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the rosary recited at 7 P.M. and on Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 10:30 A.M.

Nyla Stork

Nyla Stork, age 77 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin died peacefully Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mauston High School Auditorium in Mauston, Wisconsin with Ray Miller and Daniel Ferris co-officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove cemetery in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

Nyla was born February 3, 1926 in Spring Valley, Wisconsin the daughter of Edward and Hope (Norton) Gregerson. In September of 1944 she married Benjamin Stork in Hudson, Wisconsin. This marriage was blessed with four children. Nyla was a wonderful example of kindness and love which she nurtured to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will long be remembered for having a great faith in God.

Nyla is survived by her husband, Benjamin; sons, David (Patty) of Kingsville, Missouri, Larry of Menominee, Wisconsin and Mike (Deb) of LaValle, Wisconsin; a daughter, Mary (Bob) Guenther of Hardy, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Gaylon Gregerson of River Falls, Wisconsin; and sisters, Eveline Vier of Austin, Texas and Laurel (Bob) Nelson of Clear Lake, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Arlie Gregerson and a sister, Theol Barstad.

Visitation will be held at the Mauston High School Auditorium on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

Gene Nate

Gene A. Nate, age 89 of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, formerly of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with father Ronald J. Zinkle, S.J. officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic cemetery in Kildare Township, Wisconsin.

Eugene was born May 22, 1914 to John Nate and Magalene Thomas Nate in the Township of Kildare. He attended both Crossroads and St. Mary schools. For years, he worked at his parents’ farm in Kildare until he moved to Lyndon Station.

On February 19th, 1944 he married Jane Taylor at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lyndon Station. He was employed at Badger Ordinance until he became a police officer in Lyndon Station, he held that position for six years. He retired from the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office after fifteen years of faithful service.

He enjoyed people, music, horses, card-playing, and a devout member of St. Mary, attending daily mass through his retirement. On July 16, 1998 Gene and Jane moved to Milwaukee to be with their daughter Michelle.

Left to mourn his loss are his wife Jane of Milwaukee, daughter Janet (William) of Belleville, Wisconsin, and his daughter Michelle of Milwaukee, his brother Bernard of Columbus, Wisconsin, two sisters-in-law; Therese Costigan, and Gert Scully of Reedsburg, Wisconsin. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and lots of friends.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, brothers; John, Ted, Francis, Walter, and Donald, sisters; Mary, Agnes, and Helen.

The Vigil will be at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lyndon Station on Wednesday, July 2 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Father Zinkle will celebrate the Mass at 10:30 a.m..

Burial will take place at. Mary Catholic cemetery in Kildare Township, with a luncheon to follow at the church, from St. Mary Altar Sodality.

Frederick Mallory, Jr

Frederick “Frezz” Mallory, Jr. age 30 of Sacramento, California died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Sacramento from a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 16, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at the Native American Church of rural Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Phillip Long officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

Frederick was born March 30, 1973 in Baraboo, Wisconsin the son of Frederick and Isabelle (Littlesoldier) Mallory. He worked in Sacramento as a certified cabling technician and also was attending school for information technology. Frederick lived with a fun loving personality and was an active mediator and philosopher with all of his friends and family.

Frederick is survived by his wife, Kimberly; daughter, Cher Salinas; grandchildren, Aianna Salinas and Capreace Caldwell; parents, Frederick, Sr. and Isabelle Mallory of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; brothers, Ronald, Chester, Randy, Rodney and Steve; sisters, Leigh and Pam; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held at his parents home, 936 8th Street, Reedsburg on Saturday from 3 to 5 P.M. and on Sunday at the Native American Church from 5 P.M. until the time of service on Monday at 1:00 P.M.

Sarah Phillips

Sarah Phillips, age 90 of Mauston, Wisconsin died Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at the Hess Memorial Hospital of Mauston.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church of Mauston with Reverend Bob Kenas officiating. Burial will be at the Mauston City cemetery.

Sarah was born March 12, 1913 in Token Creek, Wisconsin the daughter of Frank and Emily (Allen) Edgerton. In 1937 she married Leonard Phillips and he preceded her in death in 1965. In the early 1960’s they owned and operated a 300 acre Christmas tree farm. Sarah loved crocheting and canning vegetables from the garden and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sarah is survived by a daughter, Joan (Robert) Koscal of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Anthony, Timothy (Patricia), Angela, Christina and Thomas Koscal and Theresa (James) Robinson; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Jesse Edgerton of Kenosha, Wisconsin and August (June) Edgerton of Mauston and a sister, Alice (Clifford) Wesley of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Lina, Harry, Walt, Frank and Bill and an infant sister, Sophie.

Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home of Lyndon Station on Friday, June 13, 2003 from 4 to 8 P.M. and on Saturday at the United Methodist Church of Mauston from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 10:30 A.M.

Ida Carey

Ida Carey, age 77 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, Wisconsin .

Memorial funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2003 at 7:00 P.M. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin . According to Ida’s wishes she will be cremated and interred at Spring Grove cemetery of Wisconsin Dells next to her husband.

Ida was born July 20, 1925 in New Lisbon, Wisconsin the daughter of Fred and Rena ( Newport ) Potter. She was married to Robert Carey and he preceded her in death in 1986.

Ida is survived by sons, Robert (Margo) Carey, Jr. of Crofton, Maryland and William (Jackie) Carey of Lyndon Station; daughters, Charlotte (Gary) Wruck of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Diana (James) Butler of McFarland, Wisconsin, Carol (Donald) Kath of Pardeeville, Wisconsin and Yvonne (David) Kath of Montello, Wisconsin; brothers, Harold (Hilda) Potter of Lyndon Station and Jerry Potter and Robert (Betty) Potter both of Wisconsin Dells; sisters, Bethel (Ron) Johnson of Lyndon Station and Mary (Cliff) Crosby of Sauk City, Wisconsin; a sister in law, Geraldine Potter of Lyndon Station; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Clayton and Francis; sister, Fern Corton and a granddaughter, Barbara Wruck.

Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home of Lyndon Station on Monday from 6 P.M. until the time of service at 7 P.M.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Eleanor Vita for the loving care that she gave to mother and special thanks to the nursing staff for their wonderful care.

Lana Lonetree

“Huc Hinuk” (Bear Woman)

Lana Lynn Lonetree, age 39 of Reedsburg, Wisconsin departed on her journey to paradise on Thursday, April 17, 2003 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, Wisconsin after meeting the challenge of cancer with grace and inspiration.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 21, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at the Native American Church of rural Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Joseph WhiteEagle officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

Lana was born February 16, 1964 in Kenosha, Wisconsin the prized daughter of Edward and Connie (LaMere) Lonetree. After completing 3 years at Tempe High School in Tempe, Arizona, her artistic creativity led her to the Santa Fe Indian Arts School in Santa Fe, New Mexico and later to the Plaza 3 Photography School. Though she attended the Marriott School for Culinary Arts and became a masterful chef, she preferred to dine out. A multi talented artistic and creative young lady, Lana took on a wide spectrum of diverse roles in her brief journey on earth; including working as an au pair in New York City, a curator at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts, a chef, security guard, black jack dealer, beverage server, school bus driver and slot floor person. Her special interests revolved around art, nature and traveling. She enjoyed hiking in the mountains of Arizona and locally in the bluffs of Devils Lake. In 2000 she fulfilled a life long dream of traveling to Europe where she visited Italy and Spain, countries known for their magnificent art and natural beauty; places where Lana was able to apply her photography skills. Besides shopping Lana enjoyed other activities such as sculpting, crafts, skiing, and spending time with her family and her favorite pets “Jack” and “Biscuit”, the family dogs. Lana held a special place in her heart for all animals therefore in lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Sauk County Humane Society.

Lana is survived by her parents, Edward and Connie Lonetree of Reedsburg; brothers, Avery (Pam) Lonetree of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Dana (Theresa) Lonetree of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin and Daryl Lonetree of Reedsburg; special friends, Sandy Welch, Alice Bissonette and George Greendeer. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Edward and Minnie (Decorah) Lonetree and maternal grandparents, Francis and Florence (Littlejohn) LaMere.

Visitation will be held at Conway Picha Funeral Home on Saturday from 4 to 6 P.M. and on Sunday at Native American Church from 3 P.M.

Kathleen (Soerfass) Mundt

Kathleen (Soerfass) Mundt, age 63 of Baraboo, Wisconsin died Saturday, April 12, 2003 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Reverend Joyce Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Lyndon Station Village cemetery .

Kathleen was born October 6, 1939 in Janesville, Wisconsin the daughter of Louis and Elvira (Brasche) Aschenbach and she grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin . She had been married to Ralph Soerfass for 26 years until he preceded her in death in 1987. In 1988 she married Gary Mundt. Kathleen was very close to her grandchildren and was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful cook.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Gary; sons, Gary, Greg, Terry, Dwayne and Brian (Jolene) Soerfass all of Baraboo, Wisconsin; a daughter, Susan Soerfass of Mauston, Wisconsin; a brother, Louis (Rosalie) Aschenbach of Aloha, Oregon; sisters, Marjorie Bell of Wautoma, Wisconsin, Joyce Miller of Long Beach, California, Janet (Richard) Ulekowski of Springdale, Arkansas, Edye Anderson of Downey, California and Melodie (Bob) Hinote of Kanab, Utah and grandchildren, Hannah, Cody and Shelby. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph and brothers, William and Richard.

Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home of Lyndon Station on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 from 3 to 7 P.M. and on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.

Rosanna Brandon, age 77 of Silver Spring, Maryland walked on Monday, March 31, 2003 at her residence with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at the Native American Church in Wisconsin Dells with Wilbert Cleveland officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery in Wisconsin Dells.

Rosanna was born January 4, 1926 in Sparta, Wisconsin the daughter of John and Florence (Hall) WhiteEagle. She attended the Winnebago Mission School in Neillsville, Wisconsin and graduated from 8th grade in 1941. She went on to attend Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas and received her high school diploma in 1945 where she graduated from the Business Program in 1947. She then moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs from 1948 to 1960. She then worked for the Indian Health Services in Rockville, Maryland from 1960 until her retirement in 1987. Rosanna met and married Harold Miles Brandon on June 1st, 1963 and they were blessed with two children, Juanita Fay Tracy and Franklin Miles Brandon. Rose liked to spend time with her family, always encouraging and supporting their education and employment aspirations, have barbecues and watch TMC movies. In her younger years she played the violin and loved to sing.

Rosanna is survived by her husband, Miles; a son, Franklin (Billie) Brandon of Madison, Wisconsin; a daughter, Juanita “Missy” (James) Tracy of Edgewater, Maryland and a sister, Mary W.E. Natani of Madison, Wisconsin. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Crystal Willis, Jamie Tracy, William Tracy, Salina Brandon, Jessie Brandon, Frankie Brandon, Casey Brandon, Christopher WhiteEagle, Mathew WhiteEagle, Nicholas WhiteEagle, Adrienne Riley; a great grandson, Maximillian Marinelli; nephews, Mike WhiteEagle and Levi WhiteEagle and a niece, Ivanna Riley. She will be missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters and 5 brothers.

Visitation will be held at the Native American Church on Thursday from 8:30 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M.
