Schedel, Vernon E.

STOUGHTON/ COTTAGE GROVE - Vernon E. Schedel, age 77, passed away on Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at the Skaalen Home in Stoughton, where he resided. Vernon was born on Feb. 15, 1928, on the family farm in the Town of Cottage Grove. He was a son of the late Adolph and Lydia (Knobeck) Schedel. He attended the Buckeye Grade School and graduated from the Stoughton High School in 1946. He served his country in the Korean war until discharged. Vernon was a lifelong member of the Hope Lutheran Church. He was a mail carrier in the Cottage Grove area for many years and farmed the family farm. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Cottage Grove American Legion and V.F.W. He is survived by three nephews, Arlow (Beverly) Schedel of Stoughton, John Schedel of Buffalo, N.Y., and Jerry Schedel of Portage; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Schedel of McFarland, and Ruth Schedel of Stoughton; three great-nieces, Erica Schedel of Oshkosh, Carrie (Jeremi) Olson of Mauston, and Christine Schedel of Fort Meyers, Fla.; a great-grand-nephew, Andrew; a very special friend, Betty Farr; and cousins. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Gerhard and Irvin Schedel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. at HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3702 County Trunk AB in Madison, with the Rev. Chris Lee Thompson officiating. Burial and military rites will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at church. Spencer, Edward R.

REEDSBURG - Edward R. Spencer, age 68, of Reedsburg, formerly of Cazenovia, died on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Spencer of Reedsburg; children, Arlin (Cindy) Spencer of Cazenovia, Cindy (Gary) Fearing of Lime Ridge, Monica (Dan) Kinsman of Reedsburg, Laurie (Peter) Pelton of Reedsburg, Michelle (Steve Schultz) Spencer of Lime Ridge, and Tammy (Vern) Mittlesteadt of Reedsburg; his special baby, Annie; 15 grandchildren, April, Jamey, Justin, Aaron, Jackie, Ryan, Laura, Sam, Kim, Jenna, Kayla, Billy, Jessica, Mandy and Lindsey; four great-grandchildren and two expected great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Elden (Lorraine) Spencer, Richard (Kathy) Spencer, Mary (August Jr.) Hooker and Avis Spencer, all of Richland Center; his mother-in-law, Louise Peterson of Cazenovia; nieces, nephews, cousins, along with other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward R. Spencer will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at ST. ANTHONY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Cazenovia with Father Andre Panek officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the CAZENOVIA CHAPEL. A rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Stitz, Michael Allen Jr.

CAMBRIDGE - Michael Allen Stitz Jr., age 23, of Cambridge, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, as a result of an auto accident outside of Deerfield. Michael was born in Madison on April 1, 1982, the son of Michael Sr. and Cheryl (Thayer) Stitz. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 2000. He worked as a cook at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. He was a member of Oakland Cambridge Presbyterian Church in Cambridge and a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 41 in his youth. Michael enjoyed spending time with his friends and his hobbies included, freshwater aquariums, mountain biking and cooking. Surviving are father and mother, Michael Sr. and Cheryl Stitz of Cambridge; sister, Michelle "Shelly" Stitz of Cambridge; niece, Angela Ryann Stitz; girlfriend, Amy Alvig of Madison; and grandmother, Anona Thayer of Jefferson. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. at OAKLAND-CAMBRIDGE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, Cambridge, with the Rev. Gretchen Lord Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Ripley cemetery, Town of Oakland. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at NITARDY FUNERAL HOME, Cambridge and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the church until the services. Wagner (Littel), Arnold "Arnie"

MADISON - Arnold "Arnie" Wagner (Littel), age 44, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center following a long and difficult illness. He was born on Dec. 5, 1960, in Madison, the son of Fred and Patricia (McCartney) Wagner. Arnie loved the outdoors, camping and NASCAR racing. He is survived by two sons, Josh (Rebekah) Rivers and Jake Rivers; two grandsons, Devin and Dominic; his loving parents, Fred and Pat (McCartney) Wagner; sisters, Robin (Greg) Richards of Hayden, Colo., Ronda (Jim) Anderson of DeForest, Kathy Ringelstetter of Sun Prairie; and a brother, Fred (Judy Dushack) of Sun Prairie. His very special and loving sister, LuAnne Littel of Sun Prairie, was with Arnie until the end. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews; a special great-nephew, Calvin Geishert; and his very special and caring friend, Naomi Rivers. Arnie was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, John and Jessie (Krueger) Loniello, Otto and Mildred (Schneider) Wagner; an uncle, Arnold McCartney; and nephews, Ricky Ballard and Casey Wagner. A funeral will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at 11 a.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave. The Rev. Norm Peterson will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Weissenborn, Gladys M. (nee Cassens)

DOUSMAN - Gladys M. (nee Cassens) Weissenborn, age 78, of Dousman (Pretty Lake), passed away on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005. She was the beloved mother of Todd (Maribeth) Weissenborn of Watertown, Paul (Vicki) Weissenborn of Oakdale, Calif., Carla (Darrell) Polk of Crystal Lake, Ill.; dear grandmother of Deanna, Andrew, Nicholas, Matthew, Amy Weissenborn and Patrice, Robert, Joshua, Alex, Rebecca Polk; dear great-grandmother of Ian and Averie McVeigh; sister of Russell (Ruth_ Cassens of Northern Wisconsin, David (LuAnne) Cassens of Panama City, Fla., Audrey Gee of South Milwaukee, Mary Ann (Carl) Sericati of West Allis; and other relatives and friends. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; and son, Carl Bruce. Funeral services will held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at ST. BRUNO CATHOLIC CHURCH, Dousman. Condon, Gerald F.

PORT ST. LUCIE FLA./ MADISON - Gerald F. Condon, 74, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at the Hospices of the Treasure Coast. He was born in Manteno, Ill., and has been a resident of Port St. Lucie, Fla., for the last 21 years, coming from Madison. Prior to retirement, Gerald was the founder of Condon Jewelers in Madison and Stuart, Fla. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Gerald was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Elk's Lodge, Ballantre Country Club, Hobe Sound Country Club, Maple Bluff Country Club, Nakoma Golf Club and Sertoma. He was also on the board of directors of The Madison Club, and was a member of the Wisconsin Badger's Alumni Association. He was a past president of the Wisconsin Jewelers Association and also a registered jeweler with the American Gem Society. Gerald's hobbies included, golfing, boating, fishing, gardening, hunting and sports. Survivors include, his wife of 47 years, Madeline (Lynn); daughter, Renee (James) Williams; son, Todd (Dinah) Condon, all of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; grandchildren, Joshua Phillips, Adam Phillips and Melissa Phillips, of Madison; grandchildren, Gerald "LJ" Condon and Todd "Joey" Condon of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; sister, Johan Neubouer, of Merrill; sister, Theresa Miller, of Spring Grove, Ill.; sister Bonnie (Dr. James) Hill, of O'Kanogon Wash.; brother, Robert (Eleanore) Condon, of East Troy; and brother, Edward (Donna) Condon, of McHenry, Ill. Gerald was predeceased by his father and mother, Joseph and Stella Condon of Richmond, Ill.; and a sister, Katherine Adams. A Mass will be held on Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CHURCH, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, with a reception following in Madison. A service will also be held at Holy Family Catholic Church at a later date. Czaplewski, Thomas

MILWAUKEE - Lt. Colonel Thomas Czaplewski, age 60, passed away on Monday, Oct. 24, 2005. Lt. Colonel Czaplewski served with the WIARNG for 30 years. He was the beloved husband of Janice Czaplewski; loving father of John (Dawn) Czaplewski, Cory (Alex) Maass, Danny (Shannon) Maass, Megan Czaplewski, Jana (Scott) Page and Sara Dix; brother of Mike (Gloria) Czaplewski; and nephew of Lawrence (Hilda) Czaplewski. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at the WIARNG ARMORY, 8520 S. Hodgson, Fleur L.

MAZOMANIE - Fleur L. Hodgson, age 69, died unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. She was born in the state of Washington on Feb. 27, 1936, daughter of the late Ralph and Eleanor (Wilson) Hodgson. Fleur had lived in the Mazomanie area for the past 20 years, and had always dreamed of going back to Scotland, of which she talked of often. She is survived by a sister, Eleanor Bookout of Accident, Md.; three nieces, Janice, Julie and Jenifer; stepmother, Lillian Hodgson of Chapel Hill, N.C.; many cousins in the Mazomanie area; and her dog, Taska. According to Fleur's wishes, no services will be held.

Hosking, Mabel G.

FOND DU LAC - Mabel G. Hosking, age 102, died on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005. Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Lorraine Hosking of Madison, and Phyllis (Dick) King of Rochester, Minn.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great- great grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the UECKER-WITT FUNERAL HOME, Fond du Lac, with the Rev. Anthony Farina officiating. Burial will follow at the Rienzi cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Hungerford, Marian B.

MADISON - Marian B. Hungerford, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at Attic Angel Place Health Care Center, where she resided for more than three years. Marian was born on May 28, 1921, in Richland Center, to Alfred W. and Rena (Simpson) Breeden. She enjoyed music immensely and studied piano for 10 years while in grade and high school. Marian also served as organist at the Methodist Church, Richland Center. She was an excellent student and graduated from the Richland Center High School as the Salutatorian of the class of 1938. Marian then attended the University of Wisconsin Extension for two years, following which she moved to Madison, where she attended the Groves Barnhart Secretarial School. Marian then worked for a short period of time at the First National Bank, after which she was employed by Ronald Mattox and Associates, a public accounting firm. She married Claude A. Hungerford, a physical education teacher and coach of wrestling, track and football at Madison East High School, on June 18, 1949, at Pres House, Madison. Marian took great pride and received much enjoyment in caring for her family and her home. While raising her family she worked part-time for many years as a secretary. Marian was an avid reader and loved sewing. Some of her fondest memories were the many years her family vacationed in Hayward. She especially enjoyed muskie fishing with her husband. Marian was a member of the First Baptist Church, Madison. She will be deeply missed by her family. Marian is survived by two children, Dr. Sue A. (Robert Whelan) Hungerford of Winnetka, Ill., and Craig D. (Linda Olson) Hungerford of Madison; two grandchildren, John F. Whelan and Anna L. Whelan, both of Winnetka, Ill.; and a sister, Ruth A. Breeden of Madison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; her parents; and two brothers, Robert and Richard. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, with the Rev. Robert Martins and the Rev. Andrew Davison officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 518 N.
