Walz, Anna Marie "Sis"

GLEN HAVEN - Anna Marie "Sis" Walz, age 81, of Glen Haven, died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center in Fennimore. She was born Dec. 23, 1926, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Andrew O. and Marie (Forest) Novak. Anna Marie attended St. Mary's Academy School in Prairie du Chien. She was united in marriage to Gerald J. Walz on Oct. 5, 1946, at St. John's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. After their marriage, they lived in rural Glen Haven where they farmed until 1990. Anna Marie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glen Haven, its Altar Society and was the bookkeeper for the church for many years. She also sold Shaklee products. Anna Marie enjoyed quilting, knitting, needle work, cooking, gardening, playing solitaire, donating blood and attending her grandchildren's activities. She was also interested in her family's genealogy. She is survived by eight children, SuzAnne Taylor of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Barbara (Lee) Ekblad of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Richard (Jane) Walz of Onalaska, Paul Walz of Centennial, Colo., Larry (Joanne) Walz of St. Cloud, Fla., Tim (Tracy) Walz of Glen Haven, Mary Walz of Prairie du Sac and Michael (Colleen) Walz of Onalaska; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Bea Novak of Prairie du Chien; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald on April 30, 1993; a grandson, Samuel Walz; and her brother, Andrew E. Novak. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 10 a.m. at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Glen Haven with Father Bart Timmerman officiating and Bill Manthe assisting. Burial will be in Gockel cemetery, Glen Haven. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the MARTIN FUNERAL HOME in Bloomington. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. Thursday morning at the church until time of services.

Booth, George A.

CUBA CITY - George A. Booth, 92, of Cuba City, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa. George was born on May 4, 1916 in Gratiot, Wis., son of Lester and Pearl (Geyer) Booth. He married Lila Knutson on June 12, 1940. They farmed all their lives in Elk Grove Township before moving to Cuba City in 1976. George is survived by two sons, Allen (Judy) Booth of Brookfield and Stan (Janelle) Booth of Verona; six grandchildren, Amy (David) Gaeth, Jason (Jennifer), Jonathan, Scott, Brad and Tina; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Alex; a sister, Ruth Andrews of Cuba City; and a brother, Donald (Lois) Booth of Cuba City. George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lila; a sister, Marion; and a brother- in-law, Paul Andrews. Services will be on Friday, July 11, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Cuba City, with Pastor Debbie Primm officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant cemetery, Cuba City. Friends may call on Thursday, July 10, 2008, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the HAUDENSHIELD FUNERAL HOME in Cuba City, and on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. MADISON - John R. Braue, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at 10 a.m. with Father Roger Nilles officiating. A visitation will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Dauck, Mertin J.

CROSS PLAINS TOWNSHIP - Mertin J. Dauck, at the age of 92, came to the end of his long, full and love-filled life on Sunday, June 29, 2008. He was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Vermont Township, Wis. to Henry F. and Mary A. (Bordson) Dauck. He married the love of his life, the former Irene Alice Anderson on Aug. 2, 1941, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison. Irene passed away Jan. 25, 2004. In 1934, he joined the CC camp, the Civilian Conservation Camp. He worked building Fort Lewis military base in Tacoma, Wash. Upon returning to Wisconsin, he worked at Badger Ordnance and thereafter had a long career with Findorff as a finishing carpenter. He retired in 1982. He enjoyed his family, wood working, restoring old cars and fishing for the elusive musky "up" north. He was a life long member of Vermont Lutheran Church, and a member of the Wisconsin Capital Model T Ford Club. He is survived by his children, Gloria (Phil) Hodgson of Pardeeville, Mary Nelson of Black Earth, Terry (Kathy) Dauck of Brooklyn and Jean (Thomas) Mitchell of Waunakee; son-in-law, Charles E. Nelson Jr. of Juneau, Ala.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Kittleson of Madison. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Steven; and his wife, Irene. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at the VERMONT LUTHERAN CHURCH. A gathering of family and friends will be from 10 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. on Saturday at the VERMONT LUTHERAN CHURCH. Inurnment will be at the Vermont Lutheran cemetery at a later time. Gates, Gerald R., Sr.

BARABOO - Gerald R. Gates Sr., age 62, of Baraboo, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, in his home. Survivors include his son, Gerald Gates Jr. of Maryville, Tenn.; a grandson, Jimmy Gates; his sister, Judy McCabe of Reedsburg; two brothers, Richard Gates of Loganville and Jack (Carla Cornell) Gates of Reedsburg; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Gates of Reedsburg and Patricia (Dan) Kosak of Rock Springs; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James and Gregory. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at the HOOF FUNERAL HOME in Reedsburg with Pastor David Glesne officiating. Interment with military rites will be in the Oak Lawn cemetery in LaValle. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Khazae, Travis S. "Gizzo"

WAUNAKEE - Travis S. "Gizzo" Khazae, age 27, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2008, at his home in Waunakee. Travis was born on Dec. 9, 1980, in Buffalo, N.Y. to Hamid Reza and Charlene (Van Dusen) Khazae. Travis graduated in 1999 from Waunakee High School and went on to graduate from Madison Area Technical College's fire science program in May 2003. Following graduation, Travis worked in residential construction and in most recent years owned a contracting business in Waunakee. Travis is survived by his devoted parents; sister, Jane (Billy) Hayes and their sons Cameron, Seth and Nolan; brother, Keith; sister, Liberty; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Travis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sakineh Solgie and Azizallah Khazae of Iran; and Wilma Van Dusen of Waunakee and Charles Van Dusen of Las Vegas, Nev. Travis will be remembered for his loyal friendship, his generous nature, his love of sports and his wonderful sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at 11 a.m. at CROSSROADS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 5901 Hogan Road in Waunakee. Pastor Sharon Cook will preside. Kramer, Virginia Elizabeth

COBB - Virginia Elizabeth Kramer, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Monday morning, July 7, 2008, at Bloomfield Manor, Dodgeville, Wis. "Grammie Ginny" as she was affectionately called by her family had resided at Bloomfield Manor for the past four years after the death of her husband, Wilson. Virginia was a life long member of the United Methodist Church, Eastern Star (Harmony Chapter and later Dodgeville) and received her 60-year pin in 1998. She was also a life long member of the Livingston Rebecka Lodge and a charter member of the Sunnydell Homemakers. It later years she enjoyed the Stitch and Chat Club that met on Tuesday at the Tower Junction. Ginny was born Feb. 11, 1917, to George and Linda (Althaus) on the family farm in Wingville Township, Montfort, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents; as well as her husband of 65 years, Wilson; her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Clifton Leix; and her brother, Howard Preston. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Sheila (Russel) Nelson of Livingston, Wis.; four grandchildren, Tori (Jon) Erickson of Iowa City, Iowa, Jeffrey (Donna) Nelson of Cobb, Tami (Waylan) Owens of San Antonio, Texas and Kallie Kramer of Oregon, Wis.; sister-in-law, Adele Peterson of Pensacola, Fla.; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition, four great-grandchildren survive, Austin, Emme and Ella Grace Owens of San Antonio, Texas and Taylor Nelson of Verona, Wis. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at MONTFORT METHODIST CHURCH with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Service to begin at 11 a.m. will include the Eastern Star Memorial Service following a dinner at the church. Sherman, John C.

SUN PRAIRIE - John C. Sherman, age 83, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008. He was born at home on Feb. 16, 1925, in Fort Atkinson, Wis. to the late Walter and Florence (Cloute) Sherman. He was united in marriage to Bernice Yohn on Feb. 26, 1949, in Columbus, Wis. He was very proud to serve his country in World War II from 1945 - 1948. He was stationed at the Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, N.M. John worked at Oscar Meyer until retiring in 1979. He was a member of Bristol Lutheran Church serving on the Church Council and the Dartball Team. John is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Bernice; his son, Robert Sherman; daughter, Donna (Larry) Weisensel; two grandsons, Nicholas and Chad Weisensel all of Sun Prairie; sister, Marie Jones of Columbus; two brothers, Henry Sherman of Beaver Dam and Kenneth (Holly) Sherman of Madison. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Peterson; brother and sister-in-law, George and Dorothy Yohn; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2008, at BRISTOL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 6835 Hwy N, Sun Prairie, with the Rev. Jonathan P. Baker officiating. Walker, Gerald "Jerry"

WISCONSIN DELLS - Gerald "Jerry" Walker, age 73, of Wisconsin Dells, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, in the comfort of his own home with his family by his side. Jerry was born July 30, 1934, in Fox Lake, the son of Orville and Florence (Evans) Walker. In June 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in March 1975. He retired as a tech sergeant and was an aircraft electrical mechanic. Retirement didn't last long and he worked in Arizona on water drilling equipment. He also enjoyed woodworking and fixing things. Jerry is survived by his son, Koichiro "Ko" (Tana) Walker of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; grandsons, Yoshi and Jiro; a dear friend, Dorothy Fitzgerald of Baraboo; sisters, Beverly Prothero of Merrimac, Betty (Robert) Giebel of Wisconsin Dells, Shirley (Phillip) Wedekind and Charlene (William) Turner both of Baraboo, Mary Albedyll of Poynette, and Patricia Kemp of Reedsburg; and brothers, Bruce (Pam) Walker of Prairie du Sac, Gale (Bonnie) Walker of Reedsburg, and Chester (Rebecca) Walker of Lakeview, Ark. MIDDLETON - Carol Wilkinson, 73, of Middleton, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, died Friday morning July 4, 2008, at Harbor House Assisted Living facility in Middleton. Funeral services were held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2008, at TAYLOR, VOLLERT AND JENNINGS FUNERAL HOME in Wisconsin Rapids. A private family burial was held at Forest Hill cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids. MADISON - Diana Lynn Adler, age 56, of New Lisbon formerly of Madison, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2008, in Mauston. She was born on Feb. 27, 1952 in Madison, the daughter of Gordon and Dorothy (Cardy) Adler. She graduated from La Follette High School. Diana owned and operated J and J Janitorial in Schaumburg, Ill. She enjoyed playing cribbage, scrap booking, cooking, traveling, and being near the ocean. Diana is survived by her son, Jason (Mary Martinez) Thadani of Calif.; grandchildren, Gabby Toman, Tyler Thadani, Alina Martinez, Bob (Nancy) Adler, and Jeff Adler; nieces and nephews, Michelle, Shane, Erik, and Matthew Adler; and boyfriend, Dave Rakow. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary; son, Raju Thadani. Anderson, Michael Scott

MERRIMAC - Michael Scott Anderson, age 45, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 6, 2008, at his home. He was born in Madison on Nov. 2, 1962, the son of Jerome "Jerry" and Edie (Ogren) Anderson. He was united in marriage to Lori Kistler on June 11, 1988. Mike's favorite pastimes were boating on Lake Wisconsin, his love of trains, and spending time with his family. He was always there for others and will be missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Lori of Merrimac; two daughters, Emily (friend, Chase Paar) and Amanda (friend, Jeremy Kruchten), both of Merrimac; his mother, Edie Anderson of Madison; sister, Suzy (Randy) Krantz and their children, Allyssa, Nicolette and Noah of Waunakee; father-in-law and mother-in- law, Don and Joanne Kistler of Florida; brother-in-law, Craig (Debbie) Kistler and their daughter, Sarah of California; sister-in-law, Lynn Salberg and her son, Brad of Florida; and numerous other relatives and friends. Baal, Eugene "Gene"

MADISON - Eugene "Gene" Baal, age 77, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2008. He was born on Sept. 16, 1930, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Ellen (Clark) Baal. Gene married Clara Louise Smerud on Jan. 5, 1957, in Dubuque, Iowa. He worked for CEN-PE-CO, as a state manager, sales person, and truck driver for more than 30 years. Gene enjoyed golfing, visiting, and socializing with friends and family. Gene is survived by his children, Dennis and Allan Baal of Madison, Keith (Sara) Baal of Cambridge, and Diane Baal of Monona; a grandchild, Zach Baal of Monona; and a brother, James (Mary Lou) Baal of Sherrill, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; parents; and two brothers, Robert and Clarence "Bud" Jr. Services will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, with Father John Meinholz presiding. Busch, Elwin A., Sr.

OREGON - Elwin A. "Al" Busch Sr., age 83, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at home. Al was born on Jan. 22, 1925, in Belmont, the son of Arthur and Alma (Stubbendick) Busch. Al graduated from Evansville High School, and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II as a navigator. He married Rena L. Bennett on Oct. 26, 1946. Al began an electrical apprenticeship and became a journeyman electrician, eventually owning his own electrical contracting business. He later served for many years as the executive vice president for the Wisconsin Chapter of National Electrical Contractors Association, (NECA). Al was a member of the Zor Shrine for more than 30 years. He loved to fly, became a pilot, and owned his own plane. Al is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rena Busch; four children, Cheryl Rupard, Dawn (Don) Wood, Linda Apple, and Elwin A. Jr. "Buddy" (Jane); eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Darlene Sasso; and son-in-law, Ken Apple. A memorial service will be held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008, with the Rev. Jason Hill presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Cody, Ralph L.

CHICAGO, ILL./HIGHLAND - Ralph L. Cody, age 88 of Chicago, formerly of Highland, Wisconsin, died on Friday July 11, 2008. Ralph was born on June 10, 1920 in Dodgeville to James and Margaret Elizabeth (Steppler) Cody. He was a graduate of the Highland High School and served in the Marines during World War II. He married Luella Dolphin of Cassville, on Nov. 17, 1951. The couple lived in the Chicago area their entire married life where Ralph worked as a tool and die maker. He enjoyed vacations in northern Wisconsin. Ralph also earned his private pilot's license and attended the EAA air shows at Rockford and Oshkosh. Ralph is survived by a sister, Margaret Piper of Gaffney, S.C.; a brother, Joe (Ellie) Cody of Madison; one nephew, James Ruppe; three nieces Carolyn Ruppe (Ray) Stewart; Kathy (Mike) Callies and LuAnn (Chris) Kelley; four great-nephews, Jason (Liubou) Kelley; Adam Kelley; Derek Kelley and Kevin (Kelly) Callies; one great-niece, Nicole (Brian) Auxier; and one great-great-nephew, Logan Auxier. He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella on Oct. 9, 1987; his parents; a sister, Mary Kathleen Kolenda; two brothers-in-law, Stanley Kolenda and Philip Piper; and a niece, Susan Kolenda. MADISON/CHEYENNE, WYO. - Nicki Croissant passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2008, in Cheyenne, Wyo. She was born in Madison, on July 8, 1952, to Wilma and Clarence Croissant of Oxford, WI. Nicki is survived by her parents; children, Melissa and Rick Olson, Christina, Greg Jr. and Jacob Dorr; brothers, Preston (Bea Barreau), Mike, Paul (Lisa) and Matt (Bev Hinrichs) Croissant; 16 grandchildren; and other relatives.
