Allan Finnegan

Allan Finnegan, age 55 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin formerly of Milwaukee, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Friday, August 10, 2007 at the Wm.S.Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin with his wife by his side.

A eulogy service will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 P.M. until the time of service at 7 P.M.

Al was born March 22, 1952 in Portage, Wisconsin the son of James and Geraldine (Schwab) Finnegan. He devoted most of his life as an over the road truck driver, being one of the best.

Al leaves behind his loving wife, Deb (nee Palkiewicz); mother, Geraldine M. Johnson of Wisconsin Dells; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and a devoted pet dog, Yogi Bear. From Deb, “We miss you Honey. You were my life and my love…and my heart goes with you forever.”

The Conway-Picha Funeral Home and Crematory of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin assisted the family with arrangements.

Joseph Rynkowski

Joseph Rynkowski, age 89 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin died Monday, August 6, 2007 at the Fairview Nursing Home in Mauston, Wisconsin.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lyndon Station with Father Paul G. Czerwonka celebrating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Maurice C. Havey Post 5970 of Lyndon Station.

Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home of Lyndon Station on Friday, August 10, 2007 from 5 to 8 P.M. and on Saturday from 9 to 10:15 A.M.

Joseph was born March 2, 1918 on the family farm in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin the son of Alexander and Mary (Owczarzak) Rynkowski and eventually graduated from Mauston High School in 1938. Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed overseas in Europe where he saw action in Algeria, French Morocco, Sicily, Naples and Rome where he shook hands with the Pope. He received 1 silver star, 2 bronze stars, and a bronze service arrowhead and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. Joe lived in Chicago for many years and worked on the railroad. He retired to the family farm near Lyndon Station where he enjoyed being a gentleman farmer. Joe was an avid gardener and enjoyed photography.

Joe is survived by sisters, Adeline Karas and Marie (John) Sommer both of Chicago, Illinois; sister in law, Marguerite Rynkowski of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; nephews, Bernard, Steve and Raymond Rynkowski, James Karas and Robert Sommer; nieces, Anne Gnat, Carol Statz, Jeanne Medenwaldt, JoAnn Karas, Janice Borgert, Cynthia Ferrin and Linda Ostrowski. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alex and Robert; niece, Rita Rynkowski and a brother in law, Tony Karas.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Maurice C. Havey Post 5970.

Susan Berberich Doyle

Susan M. Berberich-Doyle, age 58 of rural Lyndon Station, Wisconsin lost her long heroic battle with cancer on Sunday, July 22, 2007 at her residence with her family by her side.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date.

Susan was born May 31, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of James and Patricia (Palmer) Doyle. She has lived in the Lyndon area for the past 15 years and was a talented and established artist.

Susan is survived by Wally Berberich, her husband of 39 years; and was the loving mother of sons, Bobby and Danny Berberich and a daughter, Cori Berberich.

Betty Hoffman

Betty Hoffman, age 82 of Mauston, Wisconsin died peacefully Saturday, July 28, 2007 at her residence.

Private memorial funeral services will be held at a later date.

Betty was born January 30, 1925 in Mauston the daughter of Arthur and Gladys (Otto) Baldwin. She attended school in Mauston and graduated from Mauston High School. In June of 1944 she married Harold Hoffman. Together they operated a ceramic shop in Mauston. In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling and camping and her current hobbies were knitting, crocheting, being with her family and watching her favorite shows on television.

Betty is survived by her sons, Terry (Ann) Hoffman of Merrimac, Wisconsin, Dennis (Mary) Hoffman of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Randy (Renee) Hoffman of Mauston; brothers, Art “Bud” (Jean) Baldwin of Mauston and Keith (Helene) Baldwin of Arlington Heights, Illinois; sisters, Norma Loeffler and Gladys (Dick) Hale both of Mauston; 8 grandchildren, Christine, Kelly, Kimberly, Jeff, Emily, Shawn, Brent and Heather; and 10 great grandchildren, Katilyn, Sarah, Brooke, Lily, Blake, Tiara, Dillon, Kade, Kayla and Lauren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and a sister, Arleen.

Arlene Loescher

Arlene Loescher, age 69 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Serenity House in Tomah, Wisconsin. She met her final illness with great faith and courage.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lyndon Station with Father Benjamin Franklin celebrating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home of Lyndon Station on Friday, June 29, 2007 from 4 to 8 P.M. Father Benjamin and members of St. Mary’s Sodality will recite the rosary at 6 P.M. followed by a brief service and on Saturday at the funeral home from 9 to 10:15 A.M.

Arlene was born on August 26, 1937 in Mauston, Wisconsin the daughter of Orval and Evelyn (Dees) Loescher. She was a lifelong resident of the Lyndon Station area. She was a member of St. Mary’s Sodality, Maurice C. Havey V.F.W. Post Auxiliary and the Sevenweir Homemakers Club.

Arlene is survived by her brothers, Robert (Thora) Loescher of Pewaukee, Wisconsin and John (Colleen) Loescher of Windsor, Wisconsin: 3 nephews, 3 nieces and 8 grand-nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made to The Serenity House in Tomah would be greatly appreciated.

Gertrude Scully

Gertrude Scully, age 89 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin died peacefully Monday, June 25, 2007 at the Fairview Nursing Home in Mauston, Wisconsin.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lyndon Station with Father Benjamin Franklin celebrating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home of Lyndon Station on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the rosary recited at 6 P.M. and on Thursday at the funeral home from 9 to 10:15 A.M.

Gertrude was born July 11, 1917 in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin the daughter of Michael and Alice (Dixon) Taylor. She attended St. Mary’s School and one year at the rural Walsh School. In 1934 she graduated from Mauston High School and in 1935 from Juneau County (New Lisbon) Training School. She then taught one year at Walsh School and 4 years at Big Dells School. On September 28, 1940 she was united in marriage to Michael Ambrose Scully at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by Father L.P. Strofer. To this union 3 children were born. Michael, who resides in California; Noreen, a Virginia resident; and Patrick of Palatine, Illinois.

Gert was a very outgoing social person and had many positions of honor. For 14 years she was a teacher at St. Patrick’s School, over 50 years as a Sevenweir Homemaker member and also Homemaker of the year. She was a member as a young girl and also as an adult of St. Mary’s Church Choir. In addition she had been President of St. Mary’s Altar Society, Juneau County Retired Teachers, and Sevenweir Homemakers.

On March 17, 1992 Gert was chosen “Irish Rose” by the Shamrock Club School and was their secretary for 2 years. For quite a few years she was a very active member of the Lyndon Station V.F.W. Auxiliary. Gert served as correspondent for the Juneau County Star Times well over 30 years. She spent 10 years as a member of the Community Action Council on the Board of Directors; Parade Marshall at a yearly July celebration in the Village and was a co-author of a book about Lyndon Station’s 75 years.

As a farmer’s wife she was busy homemaking, gardening, canning, cooking, raising poultry and flowers. She also worked as a hostess at Paul Bunyan’s Restaurant; cooked at The Patio Restaurant; and worked at the Wonder Spot all in the Dells area. She was a devout Catholic and did some substitute teaching at St. Mary’s School.

On August 15, 2002 after living in the Village of Lyndon Station for over 20 years, she went to live in Reedsburg. Her former Kildare farm is presently owned by the Schroeder family.

Gert was lively and vivacious and will be missed by family and her many friends. Surviving are children, Michael Scully; Noreen (James) Krueger and Patrick (Patricia) Scully; grandchildren, Lincoln, Brandon, Courtney, Ryan and Rebecca; great grandsons, Carlton and Luke; sisters, Jane Nate of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Therese Costigan of Reedsburg; and a sister in law, Evelyn Scully Cauley of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Mary Clare McMahon; grandparents; baby brother, Richard William Taylor; aunts; uncles; cousins; a sister in law and 2 brothers in law.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Lyndon Station.

Verna Norton

Verna Norton, age 81 of Mauston, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Beverly Living Center in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 12:30 P.M. at the Lyndon Station V.F.W. Post 5970 in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.

Verna was born August 22, 1925 in Vernon Township, Vernon County, Wisconsin the daughter of Fred and Icel (Mick) Revels. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Churchill in 1945 and they were blessed with 5 children; Kenneth (Linda) Churchill of Lyndon Station, Donald (Carrie) Churchill of Mauston, Allen (Kaye) Churchill of Toomsuba, Mississippi and Susan (Steve) Jackowski of Mauston and preceded in death by Raymond. Her second marriage to Frank Edgerton in 1962 blessed her with another daughter, Lorie (Al Bowen) Harvey of New Lisbon, Wisconsin. In 1977 she married Art Norton, Sr.

Verna loved to dance, sew, and ride motorcycle. In later years she took trips with her special friend, Foster Eastman. Her greatest love was her family, especially her 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Verna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Eber and Ivan; three husbands; and son, Raymond.

Wilma Wilcox

Wilma Wilcox, age 73 of New Lisbon, Wisconsin died Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston, Wisconsin.

Memorial funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Mauston with Pastor John K. Stake officiating. Visitation will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

Wilma was born April 12, 1934 in Hillpoint, Wisconsin the daughter of Carlyle and Alice (Grell) Stewart and grew up in the Bear Valley and Reedsburg, Wisconsin areas. In April of 1952 she married Leo Wilcox in Reedsburg. He preceded her in death in 2003. Wilma was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church; she enjoyed handiwork and crafts; and loved ballroom dancing with her husband. Wilma was affectionately referred to as Mom and Grandma by many that knew and loved her.

Wilma is survived by her sons, Wayne of Racine, Wisconsin, Russell of New Lisbon, Wisconsin, William of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, Marty (Heather Henry) of Mauston and Kevin of Cheyenne, Wyoming; daughters, Nancy (Dennis) Yapp-King of Wisconsin Dells, Kathy (James Meley) Coonce of Mauston, Margaret Anderson of Janesville, Wisconsin and Lennie Anita Wilcox of New Richmond, Wisconsin; brothers, Lawrence Stewart of Oregon, Wisconsin and Robert Leak of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; sister, Dorothy (Gerald) Anderson of Edgerton, Wisconsin; 23 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and infant daughter, Catherine.

Daniel Chambers

Daniel Chambers, age 25 of Madison, Wisconsin died Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at his residence from a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Pastor Bob Turner officiating. Burial will be at the Lyndon Station Village cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Maurice C. Havey V.F.W. Post 5970 of Lyndon Station. Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. and on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

Daniel was born April 2, 1982 in Baraboo, Wisconsin. He grew up in Lyndon Station, Mauston, Wisconsin Rapids and eventually graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 2000. He joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He was the owner operator of a construction and home repair business in Madison. Throughout his life, Daniel was involved in sports, whether participating or watching. He loved hunting and fishing; was a member of Rick’s Olde Gold baseball team of the Madison City League; was a league poker player and a Packer Backer.

Daniel is survived by his mother, Betty (Ihor) Chambers-Bardachiwski of Nekoosa, Wisconsin; father, Glenn (Tonia) Chambers of Portage, Wisconsin; brothers, Jason of Lyndon Station, Dustin (Heather) of Montello, Wisconsin, Logan of Madison, Jesse (Burklin) of Portage, Joshua of Phoenix, Arizona and Ryan (Katie) Rasmussen of West Salem, Wisconsin; a sister, Penny Chambers of Mauston; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Lillian Rogge of Lyndon Station; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Marvin and Gloria Chambers.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made the charity of choice.

Inez Rossi

Inez M. Rossi, age 87 of Mauston, Wisconsin died Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lyndon Station with Father Paul Czerwonka celebrating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive cemetery near Westboro, Wisconsin.

Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. and on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. - 10:15 A.M.

Inez was born August 8, 1920 in Loyal, Wisconsin the daughter of Ole and Anna (Molley) Elstrom. In 1941 she married John Rossi. Together they owned and operated Rossi’s Tap in Westboro for many years and retired to Lyndon Station where she stayed busy with church; was a meal site volunteer; was a member of the Maurice C. Havey Post 5970 Auxiliary of Lyndon Station and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Inez is survived by her daughter, Anne Marie “Sunny” (William) Kalk of Lake Bluff, Illinois; grandchildren, Christina, Mark, Erika, Amanda, Erika and Katie; and sisters, Evelyn Koski and Shirley (Bob) Kollmansburger both of Loyal, Wisconsin, Mildred (Chester) Stephens of Spencer, Wisconsin, Arlene Foker of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Jean Fresoli and Lorraine (Jesse) Contreras both of Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, John Richard; and brothers, Glen “Bud”, Charles, Don and Duane “Dewey” Elstrom.
