Adelyne Harding

Adelyne Harding, age 92 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Thursday, November 27, 2003 at her residence.

Memorial funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dells Delton United Methodist Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Steven A. Miller officiating.

Adelyne was born April 30, 1911 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin the daughter of Lawrence and Martha (Franke) Leicht. She was married to Kenneth Harding. Ken preceded her in death in 1993. Adelyne lived in the Dells area for over 50 years and was a member of the Dells Delton United Methodist Church .

Adelyne is survived by a son, Parry of Reedsburg, Wisconsin and grandchildren, Trina and Clayton Harding. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Orville and a sister, Viola.

Visitation will be held at the Dells Delton United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until time of service at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the church.

Denise Miner-Wood

Denise Miner-Wood, age 40 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Thursday, November 20, 2003 at University Hospital of Madison, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 23, 2003 at 12:00 Noon at N1037 Johnson Street of rural Wisconsin Dells with Richard Mann and Reverend Marilyn Merrill officiating. Burial will be at the Indian Baptist Church cemetery .

Denise was born January 18, 1963 in Portage, Wisconsin the daughter of Orlen and Georgia (Miner) Wood.

Denise is survived by her sons, Myles Ermenc of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Lorenzo Miner, Keynan Miner and Malik Brooks all of Arizona; daughters, Sonia and Regina Garcia and LaTasha Ermenc all of Milwaukee; her father, Orlen of Milwaukee; a brother, Nicholas Wood of Milwaukee; sisters, Le Ann Westbrook of Wisconsin Dells and Shelley (Davis) Williams of Arizona and grandchildren, Trayvion and Anastasia. She was preceded in death by her mother; grandparents, Orin Wood and George and Rose Miner and a nephew, Joshua Westbrook.

Visitation will be held at N1037 Johnson Street in Indian Heights of Wisconsin Dells on Sunday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at Noon .

Florence Graack

Florence Graack, age 82 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 20, 2003.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 24, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Craig Wolfgram officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery in Wisconsin Dells.

Florence was born May 27, 1921 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the daughter of Edwin and Laura (Wrezinski) Stroede. She married Henry “Hank” Graack in March of 1954 and he preceded her in death in 1964. Florence was rewarded in life with a big family that in turn gave her a loving, extended family; she enjoyed gardening and flowers and sewing.

Florence is survived by her sons, Lawrence Jr. (Anna) Dickman, Charles Dickman, Dean (Penny) Dickman, and Johnny (Lisa) Graack all of Wisconsin Dells, Richard (Amy) Dickman of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, John (Patty) Dickman of Mauston, Wisconsin, Edwin Dickman of Colorado and Robert (Chris) Graack of Des Plaines, Illinois; daughters, Shirley (Gordon) Podrasky of Portage, Wisconsin, Audrey (Harold) Warren of Marshall, Wisconsin, Linda (John) Coon of Cecil, Wisconsin, Cindy (Lynn) Christensen of Adams, Wisconsin and Terri Graack of Wisconsin Dells; 36 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; a brother, Edwin (Bernadine) Stroede of Wisconsin Dells and a sister, Lorraine Graack of Wyocena, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Harold and Robert and 2 infant daughters.

Visitation will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

Lois Nevar

Lois Nevar, age 67 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Sunday, November 16, 2003 at the Barrington of Wisconsin Dells.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 20, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells with Father Arnold Reuter officiating. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery in Wisconsin Dells.

Lois was born April 28, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Algerd and Vera (Sakus) Herman. In 1965 she married Gus Nevar and he preceded her in death in August of 2002. Lois had been a registered nurse and worked at the Divine Savior Hospital of Portage, Wisconsin for over 30 years. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother and will dearly be missed.

Lois is survived by her sons, Wayne and Edward (Jennifer) both of Wisconsin Dells and Andrew (Stacey) of Rio, Wisconsin; her mother, Vera Stoops of Madison, Wisconsin; a brother, Gerald (Vesna) Herman of Westport, Connecticut; grandchildren, Dylan and Avery; and a nephew, Francis Herman of Westport.

Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church or to Divine Savior Hospital of Portage.

Glenn Lapp

Glenn Lapp, age 98 of Big Spring, Wisconsin died peacefully Saturday, November 15, 2003 at the Barrington of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin .

Memorial funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at the Big Spring Congregational Church with Reverend David Bowman officiating. Glenn’s cremains will be interred at the Big Spring cemetery .

Glenn was born April 20, 1905 in Kilbourn (now Wisconsin Dells), the son of the late John and Malinda (nee Hoffmeister) Lapp. He married Marjory Landt of Wisconsin Dells on October 17, 1935 . She preceded him in death April 29, 1997 .

Glenn grew up on the family farm in Big Spring, New Haven Township, Adams County and attended school there. He worked as a driver for the dairy in Kilbourn and for the electric company that operated the Kilbourn Dam. In the early 1930s he and his brother Harley founded Lapp Brothers Implement and Repair in Big Spring . They did blacksmithing, car and tractor repair, and sold Case tractors. After Harley's death, Glenn continued operating the shop until he was into his 80s. Glenn was also a welder, known for his work with cast iron, and during World War II, he trained welders.

He was a life-long member of Big Spring Congregational Church where he served for many years as a deacon and trustee. Until his early 90s, he served on the church's auditing committee. He was a 50-year Mason, a member of the Wisconsin Dells Masonic Lodge 124. Glenn enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Surviving are a sister, Arleen Cook of Prairie du Chien; a sister-in-law, Lillian Lapp of Redgranite; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and many friends. Preceding him in death were sisters Florence Indermuehle, Helen Hodge and Lois Gray; bothers, Emery, Harley, Earl, Ivan, Edwin and Kenneth and brothers and sisters-in-law, Newton and Bryce Landt, Rena Palmer, Geraldine Rodwell, Janet Holt and Frances Lewis.

Visitation will be held at Big Spring Congregational Church on Tuesday from 1 P.M. until the time of service at 2:00 P.M.

Edna Wiechers

Edna Louise “Ande” (Liessmann) Wiechers, age 80 of rural Portage, Wisconsin died in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 4, 2003 .

Memorial funeral services will be held at the Caledonia Presbyterian Church, N5127 Highway 78, Portage, Wisconsin on Saturday, November 8, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Paula Bremer officiating. According to her wishes Edna was cremated. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Edna’s name to Home Health United, 611 East Wisconsin Avenue, Portage, WI 53901 .

Edna was born September 17, 1923 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin the daughter of Fred and Wilhelmina (Dankert) Liessmann. Upon completion of her high school years in the Dells, she attended University of Wisconsin-Madison and received a bachelor of science and master of science in speech and dramatics. Teaching and drama were her passion. Edna taught English and Speech at Pembine, Reesville, Baraboo, Two Rivers, Wauwatosa and Union Grove. She then earned a master of science in guidance and counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and spent the last 6 years of her teaching career as a counselor at J.I. Case High School in Racine, Wisconsin .

Edna participated in and directed many church choirs and dramatic productions, and was an active member in a variety of organizations. She was a member of AAUW, Milwaukee Choristers, Florentine Opera Company, U.W. Players, Speech Association of America, National Collegiate Players, Wisconsin Education Association and National Education Association. She served on the Continuing Education Board-U.W. Baraboo for several years and was on the Board of Visitors for the Educational Department of the U.W.-Madison.

Edna is survived by her husband, Glenn who she married on June 10, 1972 at the First Presbyterian Church in Racine, Wisconsin ; stepchildren; step grandchildren; a brother, Leroy Liessmann of Arizona ; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.

Ben Olson

Ben Olson, age 75 and a prominent business person of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died unexpectedly Monday, October 27, 2003 while returning home from goose hunting near Wisconsin Dells.

Memorial funeral services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Presbyterian Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Steven Keller officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells. According to Ben’s wishes he will be cremated and interred at Spring Grove cemetery in Wisconsin Dells.

Ben was born October 6, 1928 in Portage, Wisconsin the son of Grover and Jane (Zimmerman) Olson. He graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School and later from Western Michigan University and then went on to join the U.S. Navy where he entered as an ensign and was a helicopter pilot. In June of 1952 he married Shirley Hill from Kalamazoo, Michigan in Wisconsin Dells. Following an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1953, Ben joined his brother Jack in operation of the Olson Boat Company of Wisconsin Dells. He later became manager of the Original Wisconsin Ducks, was an owner and general manager of Fort Dells, Manager of Olson Boat Company and later Director and Chairman of Peoples Telephone Company at Randolph, Wisconsin . Being active in a number of tourism organizations Ben served as president of the Wisconsin Resort Association; was president and founder of the Wisconsin Recreation Industries and was founder-director of the Wisconsin Attraction Association. He was a member of the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells and an active hunter, fisherman and golfer.

In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated given to the United Presbyterian Church.

Ben is survived by his wife, Shirley, sons, Ben (Holly) Olson III and Todd Olson, both of Wisconsin Dells and Paul (Diane) Olson of Breckenridge, Colorado; a daughter, Lisa (Norm) Henderson of Brighton, Utah and grandchildren, Erik Olson, Tess and Paige Canepa-Olson and Katie and Cassie Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack.

Visitation will be held at the United Presbyterian Church on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

Marie Lissy

Marie Lissy, age 78 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Sunday, October 26, 2003 at the Wisconsin Dells Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation from 1 to 4 P.M. on Friday, October 31, 2003 at the Picha Funeral Home of Lake Delton, Wisconsin.

Marie was born August 6, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Rich and Mary (Kerpen) Meister. In September of 1944 she married Raymond Lissy in Chicago. They had lived in the Wonder Lake and Wauconda, Illinois areas before relocating to rural Adams County in 1990. She loved playing the organ however she never took a lesson and played by ear.

Marie is survived by her loving husband, Raymond; sons, Danny (Laurie) of Stanchfield, Minnesota, Richard of Elgin, Illinois and George (Carole) of Schaumburg, Illinois; sisters, Esther Spadja of Mosinee, Wisconsin, Eleanor Churley of Mauston, Wisconsin and Lucille (Howard) Danielson of Merrill, Wisconsin; and grandchildren, Raymond and Mary Eyvonne. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Eddie, Rich and Carl.

Walter Terlecki

Walter Terlecki, age 79 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Sunday, October 26, 2003 at the Don & Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care of Fitchburg, Wisconsin.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells with Father Arnold Reuter officiating. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery in Wisconsin Dells.

Walter was born November 19, 1923 in Poland. He moved to Chicago, Illinois and married Teresa Paradowski. Walter had worked at General Electric and had been a bus driver. In 1988 they moved to Wisconsin Dells and Teresa preceded him in death in December of 2002. He later married Irene Dushna.

Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:30 A.M.

Edwin "Bob" Brock

Edwin “Bob” Brock, age 77 of rural Lake Delton, Wisconsin died Thursday, October 23, 2003 at his residence.

Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation from 1 to 4 P.M. on Sunday, October 26, 2003 at the Picha Funeral Home of Lake Delton, Wisconsin. Military rites will be provided by the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells.

Bob was born July 21, 1926 in Waukegan, Illinois the son of Edwin and Rose ( Garland ) Brock. At the age of 17 he joined the U.S. Army and attained the rank of Sergeant. After his first discharge in 1947 he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and worked aboard a ship in Chicago as a firefighter. After his Coast Guard service he reenlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged again in September of 1953. He had married Elizabeth “Betty” Gregg on April 24, 1948 in Waukegan, Illinois . Bob had been a sewer and water contractor in northern Illinois and was active in the Plumbers Union. In 1971 he and his wife moved to the Dells area and purchased the Pickerel Slough Resort and operated this until the early 1990’s. Bob was an avid sportsman and an active member of the Lake Delton Sportsman Club. Bob will dearly be missed by all. “How will you know what will happen tomorrow? For your life is like the morning fog–it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.” James 4-14.

Bob is survived by his sons, Robert (Jody) of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and Brian of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; a daughter, Belinda (Scott) Brock-Heiser of Lake Delton; grandchildren, Robert, Michelle, Bradley, Erin, Justin, Jason (Michelle), and Brianna Brock, Jamie and Jeffrey and B.J. Miller; great grandchildren, Casen and Sidney Brock, Calvin Gibbs, Kaleb Kurzweil and Chloe Brock. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty and a sister, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lake Delton Sportsman Club.
