Doris Martin

Doris Martin, age 91 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the Meriter Park Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin with Reverend Steven Keller celebrating. Burial will be at Lake Delton Village cemetery.

Doris was born February 2, 1913 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin the daughter of John and Etta (Alder) Fulmer. Her family moved to Missouri and later to Milwaukee. She met and married William Martin in June of 1930 in Chicago and lived most of their married lives in Lake Delton. She worked as a sales clerk at the 5 and dime store in Chicago and later worked for the Storybook Gardens for many years. She will always be remembered for her kind and gentle ways, her beautiful white hair and sweet smile. Her family was very important and she always remembered her grandchildren and great grandchildren on their birthdays and anniversaries. Her very “special chocolate cake” was always a request from all of her “grands”.

Doris is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Rosemarie) Martin of Columbus, Wisconsin and William (Sharon) Martin of Janesville, Wisconsin; daughters, Patricia (Kenneth) Niebuhr of New York, Colleen (Arlyn) Georgeson and Sharon (Richard) Gavinski of Wisconsin Dells; grandchildren, Sheryl (Steven) Bernhard, Liesa (Stephen) Kelley, Jay (Jessica) Niebuhr, Kelly McCann, Connie Martin, Scott Georgeson, Tim (Michelle) Georgeson, Heidi Georgeson, Sandra (Kevin) Kerl, Susan Martin, and Jennifer and Amy Gavinski; step grandchildren, Frank Lucafo, Jean (Oliver) Ressel, Anthony, Linda, Paul, and Joseph Lucafo; great grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew Bernhard, Sarah and Bennet Kelley, Brook and Colin Powers, Alysha, Victoria and Ryan Georgeson, Jessica, Sarah and Emily Georgeson and Andrew Kerl. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Forrest, Warren and Harold Fulmer; sisters in law, Lottie and Betty Fulmer and a grandson, Michael Hans Georgeson.

Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M.

The family would appreciate contributions given to the charity of choice.

Anthony Beinarauskas

Anthony Beinarauskas, age 50 of rural Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Sunday, April 25, 2004 at his residence.

Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1st, 2004 at 11:30 A.M. at the St. Casimir Lithuanian cemetery, 1015th and Kostner Street, Chicago, Illinois.

Anthony was born August 26, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Antanas and Aldona (Uselis) Beinarauskas. He attended Bethlehem Center High School in Fredericktown, Pennsylvania and was a member of the Valentine Chicago Boy’s Club. He was a professional carpenter and mason by trade specializing in finish carpentry and was a member of the carpenters union. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing because he so much loved the outdoors. “Tony” was a loving and generous father, son and brother. His unique sense of humor, sly smile and loving, generous heart will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Anthony is survived by a son, Brian (Sandy) Beinarauskas of North Carolina; a daughter, Jennifer Beinarauskas of Pennsylvania; mother, Aldona (Vito) Pajaujis of Wisconsin Dells; brothers, Joseph (Monica) Beinarauskas of Worth, Illinois and Stanley (Karen) Beinarauskas of Chicago Ridge, Illinois; three sisters, Veronica Sheahan of Orland Hills, Illinois, Linda Pajaujis of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, Tina (Jeff) Henrikson of Gilbert, Illinois, 2 grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

Karl Sickenberger

Karl Sickenberger, age 90 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Sunday, April 25, 2004 at the Wisconsin Dells Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Dennis Schueler and Vicar Jonathan Vierkant co-celebrating. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery in Wisconsin Dells.

Karl was born July 3, 1913 in Des Plaines, Illinois the son of Edward and Emma (Klose) Sickenberger. In July of 1940 he married Margaret Thompson in Stillwater, Minnesota. She preceded him in death in November of 2002. For 65 years they lived in Wisconsin Dells. Karl was active at Trinity Lutheran Church and had worked for the Dells Boat Company for over 25 years mainly as a customer relations/dock person. Later he volunteered many hours at the Dells Health and Rehabilitation Center and stayed busy helping other people. His quick wit, sense of humor and affection for cigars will long be remembered.

Karl will be missed dearly by his sons, Edward (Mary) of Madison, Wisconsin, Dean (Jeaneen) of Emerald, Wisconsin and Martin (Barbara) of Poynette, Wisconsin; a daughter, Karla (Robert) Johnson of Madison; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; sons, Karl and Gary; granddaughter, Shannon Chwala and a brother, Edward.

Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M.

Thomas Kaminski

Thomas Kaminski, age 72 of Lake Delton, Wisconsin died Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at his residence.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells with Father Felix Oehrlein celebrating. Burial will be at the Lake Delton Village cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells.

Thomas was born July 20, 1931 in Lake Delton, Wisconsin, son of the late Frank and Amber (Rickon) Kaminski. Tom was the last of the Kaminski boys who helped shape the future of Lake Delton/Wisconsin Dells for a generation. His brothers Joseph, Franklin, Henry, George and Paul along with their sister, Margaret preceded him in death. Tom is survived by his wife, Loretta (nee Mitchell) Kaminski; daughters, Angeline and Amber both of Lake Delton and Mary Elizabeth of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; a son, Ted of Lake Delton; a sister, Caroline Kaminski of Baraboo, Wisconsin; sister in law, Mrs. Frank (Delphine) Kaminski of Lake Delton; brother in law, Francis Mitchell of Sparta, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A professional chef for nearly 50 years, Tom fed Presidents, Cabinet members, Senators, Governors and many celebrities during his career. Like all of his brothers he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 998th Engineer Construction Battalion and learned his first quantity cooking with them. Later he would work in Alaska while the DEW line was being built. During the summer of 1958 he received certificates for crossing the Arctic Circle.

Married September 12, 1953, Tom and Loretta celebrated their 50th anniversary in grand style. Friends and relatives came to share and celebrate their rare and grand achievement.

Owner of several independent restaurants Tom ended his working career as Executive Chef returning to Chula Vista Resort after an absence of 15 years.

Tom’s civic activities included membership in the Lake Delton Lion’s Club, Lake Delton Businessmen’s Association, the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells and St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Wisconsin Dells.

Always a passionate Cubs, Packers and Wisconsin stock car fan he enjoyed rooting for his favorites. Tom will always be remembered as a grand storyteller who could mesmerize for hours. Strong willed he enjoyed his last wish of spending his final days at with his family in the Lake Delton he loved.

A special thanks go out from his wife and family to the members of Home Health United Hospice Care along with Dr. Harold Conley and Dr. Thomas Stark. The care they gave during his life and the comfort expressed at the end is appreciated.

Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home of Lake Delton on Friday, April 16, 2004 from 4 to 8 P.M. with a vigil service at 8 P.M. and on Saturday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 10:30 A.M.

Thomas Winter

Thomas R. Winter, age 79 from Dell Prairie Township, Adams County, Wisconsin died Thursday, April 8, 2004 in his home with his family at his side.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Adams, Wisconsin with Pastor John Krebs officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Military rites will be provided by the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells.

Thomas was born August 25, 1924 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Lawrence and Elsie (Liedtke) Winter. In 1946 he married Harriet Goellner in Milwaukee. In 1941 Tom joined the U.S. Navy where he served his country as a Radio Control Operator on a Navy PBY airplane. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Besides working as a supervisor for a box factory, Tom also worked for the bank of Wisconsin Dells for 11 years, and has enjoyed retired life for the past 4 years. In his free time Tom enjoyed woodworking and “puttsing” around, with many projects around the house to his credit.

Thomas is survived by his wife Harriet whom he has shared his love with for 58 years of marriage. He is also survived by his sons; James of North Riverside, Illinois; Terry of Elgin, Illinois; David of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; Jeffery (Patricia) of Elgin, Illinois; and Raymond (Tammy) of Packwaukee, Wisconsin. Tom is also survived by his daughter Kathryn (Gary) VanEtten of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter; Laura Beth Williams; his brothers Lawrence, Daniel, Richard, and Robert; and his sister Mary Bodden.

Visitation will be held at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Adams on Monday, April 12 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Eugene Kowalke

Eugene Kowalke, age 62 of Lake Delton, Wisconsin died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at the St. Clare Hospital of Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 29, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baraboo with Father Lawrence Bakke celebrating. Burial will be at Walnut Hill cemetery in Baraboo. Military rites will be accorded at the gravesite.

Eugene was born March 22, 1942 in Baraboo, Wisconsin the son of Clarence and Florence (Koerth) Kowalke. After graduation from Baraboo High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent the next twenty years serving his country overseas in Berlin and over 8 of those years he was stationed in Vietnam receiving numerous decorations and medals including the Purple Heart and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. In June of 1973 he married Beverly Hueston in Chicago, Illinois. Eugene enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening and horseback riding.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Beverly; a son, William (Heather) Kowalke of Baraboo; a daughter, Michelle Kowalke of Phoenix, Arizona; a brother, Dennis (Ruth) Kowalke of Baraboo; sisters, Diane, Sherry and Carol Ann Kowalke all of Baraboo, Victoria (James) Bowen and Penelope Blum both of Lake Delton and Florence (William) Cicero of Palos Park, Illinois; grandchildren, Jacksen and Talon; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home of Lake Delton on Sunday, March 28, 2004 from 4 to 8 P.M. and on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 10:30 A.M.

Janet Steinhoff

Janet Steinhoff, age 68 of Lake Delton, Wisconsin died Friday, March 5, 2004 at Frankston, Australia.

Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 3:00 P.M. at William and Janet’s home at E10219 Xanadu Road in Lake Delton. Telephone 608-254-4578 after March 25, 2004. Church services had been held at St. James the Less in Mt. Eliza, Australia by Vicar Dr. David Powys.

Janet was born October 18, 1935 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Simmons) Copen. She lived for many years in Kenosha, Wisconsin and retired to Lake Delton. On December 18, 1989 she married William Steinhoff in Marathon, Florida.

Janet is survived by her husband, William; sons, Harry (Tammy) Terwall and Eugene (Dawn) Terwall both of Lake Delton; daughters, LeeAnn (Pat) Raferty of Lake Delton and Gloria (John) Rego of LaValle, Wisconsin; sisters, Judy (Dennis) Bartel of Georgia and Gena Copen of Kenosha; stepchildren, Peter, Mike, Robert, John and Kenneth Steinhoff; 25 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Larry Frye and Melvin Terwall and a stepdaughter, Mary Bilger.

Kenneth Griffin

Kenneth Griffin, age 63 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Friday, February 27, 2004 at his residence.

Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 11:30 A.M. at the Big Spring Congregational Church in Big Spring, Wisconsin with Reverend David Bowman celebrating.

Ken was born September 28, 1940 in Danville, Illinois the son of Robert and Margaret (Watts) Griffin . He has lived in the Dells area for the last 20 years.

Ken is survived by his brother, Bob (Betty) Griffin of Wisconsin Dells and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at Big Spring Congregational Church on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service at 11:30 A.M.

Lester Small

Lester Small, age 86 of Lake Delton, Wisconsin died Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at the Sauk County Health Care Center of Reedsburg, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin with Reverend Steven Keller celebrating. Burial will be at the Lake Delton Village cemetery.

Lester was born December 29, 1917 in Lake Delton, Wisconsin the son of Ernest and Ethel (Kingsley) Small. In February of 1939 he married Audrey Standiford in Dubuque, Iowa. Lester farmed most of his life in the Dells area and for several years he worked at the Badger Ordnance. He loved to fish and enjoyed woodworking.

Lester is survived by his wife, Audrey; a son, Gary Small of Oxford, Wisconsin; daughter, Avis (Allen) Steele of Baraboo, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Amy, Noelle, Rich and Tami; great grandchildren, Derek, Travis, Jennifer, Jacob and Denali. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Laura Sonnenberg and Louise Small and a brother, Lawrence.

Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home of Lake Delton on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at 2:00 P.M.
