Stanley Ryczewicz

Stanley Ryczewicz, age 86 of Briggsville, Wisconsin died peacefully Sunday, January 11, 2004 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Briggsville with Father John Hedrick celebrating. Military rites will be provided by the Carl E. Grabman American Legion Post 329 of Briggsville. Cremation will follow the traditional services.

Stanley was born January 25, 19 17 in LaSalle, Illinois the son of Bruno and Mary Ryczewicz. In December of 1945 he married Norberta Malin. He started working for Federal Die Casting in Chicago in the 1930’s and a short time later enlisted in the U.S. Army and served overseas in the Pacific Theater, receiving 5 battle stars and was honorably discharged. He returned to Federal Die Casting, worked his way up the ranks and retired in 1978 as Vice President of Production. Following retirement he moved to the north shore of Mason Lake near Briggsville where he has lived since. Stanley loved gardening, fishing, hunting and Mason Lake .

Stanley is survived by his wife, Norberta; sons, Michael of Oxford, Wisconsin and Stanley (Elin) of Bartlett, Illinois; daughter, Barbara (Edward) Deuter of Alabama; brother, Raymond of Los Angeles, California; sister, Mary Nowik of Chicago; and grandchildren, Ciera, Caitlain, Crystil, Charles, Stephanie and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Adolph and Joseph.

Visitation will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Briggsville on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

James Jandik

James Jandik, age 74 of King, Wisconsin died Thursday, December 18, 2003 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, Wisconsin .

Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 1:30 P.M. at King Veterans Home.

Jim was born August 18, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois the son of James and Katherine (Strausser) Jandik. He was married to Sharon Lippincott. She preceded Jim in death on December 30, 2002 . For many years Jim played the concertina in the 4 member Gruby Stasiu Band in the Chicago area and regularly performed on the radio station WGN Music Hour. In 1970 Jim and Sharon moved from Chicago to Juneau County .

Jim is survived by a daughter, Judy (Harold) Oakes of Necedah, Wisconsin ; sisters, Emma (Edward) Sipla and Viola (William) Keating of Chicago, Carol Jean (Al) Pape of Elmwood Park, Illinois, Joyce (Ronald) Ruppert of Berwyn, Illinois and Lillian (Jim) Gaba of Frankfort, Illinois; 2 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon; and sisters, Anne Pudelek and Katherine Pudelek.

Visitation will be held at King Veterans Home on Saturday from 1 P.M. until 1:30 P.M.

Ronald Buchko

Ronald Buchko, age 58 of rural Oxford, Wisconsin died Monday, November 3, 2003 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Ronald was born November 4, 1944 in Ironwood, Michigan the son of Joseph and Marion (Peterson) Buchko and he grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1974, attained the rank of sergeant and was honorably discharged. In February of 1988 he married Angie Young in Montello, Wisconsin. For many years Ron worked as a printer.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Angie; a son, Michael of Austin, Texas; daughters, Bernadette, Kimberly and Crystal all of Austin, Texas; a stepson, Daniel (Michelle) Spoerl of Theinsville, Wisconsin; stepdaughters, Danelle Spoerl of Oxford and Stephanie (Ted) Hikada of Waukesha, Wisconsin; brothers, Joseph (Rebecca) Buchko of Michigan and Jerry Buchko of California; sisters, Barbara (Joe) Geller, Joanie Wrege and Claudia (Clyde) Taivalmaa, all of Michigan; and two grandchildren, Cameron Stevens and Shayden Buchko. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Floyd Lochner

Dr. Floyd Lochner, age 91 of Oxford, Wisconsin died Thursday, October 23, 2003 at his residence.

Memorial funeral services will be held Sunday, November 2, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Washburn McReavy Chapel, 5000 West 50th Street at Highway 100 in Edina, Minnesota in Edina, Minnesota with Otto Lochner and David Harris co-officiating.

Born of pioneer stock who settled the great American plains States, Floyd O. Lochner was born on 8 May 1912 in Oklahoma, and grew up in a tightly knit home. He obtained a BS degree in 1937, and an MEd degree in 1961 from the University of Oklahoma, and an EdD degree in 1969 from the Ambassador College, and whilst at college was national interscholastic one mile champion in 1932, national intercollegiate two mile champion in 1937, holder of the American and world record in 2 mile steeple chase, 1936 and 1937, National AAU 3, 000 metre champion, 1937, and American Track and Field Team Japanese exhibition, 1937. During his college years he also married and has two children. A term of office both as Assistant State Director of the Works Project Administration, State of Oklahoma, 1939-42, and as Trainer of military recruits, 1942-46, provided a rich, pragmatic background on which a long career in fostering optimum training conditions for children and youth was built. Expressions of this interest included his Masters and Doctorate degrees, and subsequent direct service and personal involvement with developing children in a private school system, Imperial Schools. Vision and imaginative leadership expanded this modern system based on family-home-church unity in enhancing the child’s development, to three campuses in California, Texas, and Bricketwood, Hertfordshire, UK, respectively. Serving as Family Consultant, School Superintendent and College Professor, a generation of young people stand as evidence for the efficacy of the best in educational opportunity of the era, 1954-69, and as Founder of Youth Opportunities United, International, Scotland, South Africa, Australia, Canada and the USA, the combination of rigorous discipline, active sports programming and adventuring in the wilds of adjacent lake and river country, he made sure youths were introduced to a wholesome way of life sharply contrasted to the drug and counterculture movements of their peers, 1960’s. He also undertook lecture tours and wrote “Human Potential Magazine”, and widely honoured by National Honorary Society of Secondary Schools 1968, he is listed in “Who’s Who Among Child Development Professionals”, 1977, and “Community Leaders & Noteworthy Americans”, 1978, and he is still sought out and available to the sons and daughters whose lives he touched as they strive to implement his teachings in the growth and development of their own children. He produced his achievements with few physical resources but a great faith in the Creator who spells out true principles for bringing young people to abundant living through the Christian Way . Dr Lochner is a member of the Association of Childhood Education International, National Association for Better Broadcasting, American Association of University Professors, American Camping Association, National Recreation and Parks Association, and Alpha Alpha Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi.

Floyd was born May 8, 1912 in Chandler, Oklahoma the son of Fred and Ada (Coppage) Lochner. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Floyd was married to Vernice Ruby White and she preceded him in death in 1975. They had two children, Floyd Jr. of Gilbert, South Carolina and a daughter, Peggy (Harris) LaRue of Ft. Collins, Colorado. He later married Kimberly Kalamaha and they moved to Oxford in 1986. Here he stayed busy in metals recovery and tending a large garden. Floyd loved being out of doors, camping and hunting.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Kimberly; son, Floyd Jr. and daughter, Peggy; sisters, Lura Mabel Powell of Enid, Oklahoma, Laura Freeman of Tyler, Texas, Ada Maye (Marion) Goff of Redding, California and Ida Faye Siegmann of Enid, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vernice; brothers, Bernice, Vernon, John Carl and Ora and a sister, Mary Eliza.

Hermann Gnuechtel

Hermann Gnuechtel, age 85 of Oxford, Wisconsin died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 19, 2003 at 5:00 P.M. at the Oxford Funeral Home in Oxford with Reverend Donald Wedel officiating. Following the traditional services Hermann will be cremated.

Born in Germany, July 13, 1918, the son of Guido and Wally Gnuchtel, he grew up in what later became East Germany . He served in the German Army for nine years during WW II, and later was held as a prisoner of war in England, where he met and married his wife, Sylvia. Their oldest son, Fred, was born in England, and then they ventured to Canada via ship and settled in Ontario, where he became a flour miller and went on to parent four more children, Herman, Christianna, Michael, and Ruth.

He was then led to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, where he purchased a small gas station and convenience store on the shores of Lake Huron . He not only owned and operated this business, but also drove school bus for the local DeTour Village area school district, built homes in his spare time, as well as managed a roadside park along Highway 134, just outside of DeTour Village .

He and his wife, Sylvia, retired and moved to Oxford, Wisconsin in l996, where he enjoyed many hours working on his favorite pastime cutting firewood. He also had a deep love for reading and studied conservative politics and economics, which was evidenced by his vast library of books including some of his own publications.

His long life and many life experiences molded a devoted father that was loved very dearly by all his children. He worked hard for his family and always put the needs of his family before his own. Through his example of hard work, he instilled in his children a strong work ethic and many valuable life lessons. He was an energetic and passionate man. He had a cantankerous and exuberant personality which provided many lively discussions with his children and grandchildren!

During his final years he cared for his ailing wife with heartfelt tenderness and patience, that even his children weren’t always aware of.

Hermann is survived by his wife, Sylvia; sons, Fred (Helen) of Austin, Texas, Herman (Donna) of Hampshire, Illinois and Mike (Phyllis) of Kerrville, Texas; daughters, Chris (Steve) Hanson of Appleton, Wisconsin and Ruth (Steve Forrester) Gnuechtel of Batavia, Illinois; sisters, Ruth and Christianna both of Germany; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at Oxford Funeral Home on Friday from 4 P.M. until the time of service at 5 P.M.

Neal Houslet

Neal Houslet, age 77 of Oxford, Wisconsin died Friday, September 12, 2003 at the Divine Savior Hospital of Portage, Wisconsin.

Memorial funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oxford Presbyterian Church in Oxford with Pastor Julie Waterdu officiating. Neal’s cremains will be interred at the Oxford Village cemetery.

Neal was born February 14, 1926 in Oxford, Wisconsin the son of Cornelius and Mildred (Cummings) Houslet and of the only known Houslet family in the United States. In August of 1944 he married Kathryn Gay. Together their life was an adventure in business and pleasure. At an early age Neal raised Standard bred race horses and later developed a premier, registered Hereford herd of cattle that earned many state fair championships. With an eye for real estate they went on to develop the Horseshoe Springs subdivision, Wolf Lake subdivision, Glacier Lake condominiums, Glacier Glen, and Gilligans Island subdivision all in the Oxford area. He also marketed authentic log homes of which there are many in this area. Neal cherished time spent deer hunting with family and friends and he was also an accomplished wood carver. After retirement Neal, with his wife, wintered in Tucson, Arizona since 1992 and traveled extensively around the country.

Neal is survived by his wife, Kathryn; sons, Leonard (Susan), Mark (Sigrid) and Tim (Sue) all of Oxford; a daughter, Gay (Tom) Bauwens of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Helen Ross of Palestine, Ohio, ten grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maxine Rich and Beth Roney and a half sister, Marie Johnson.

Visitation will be held at the Oxford Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 from 5 to 8 P.M. and on Wednesday at the Oxford Presbyterian Church from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Donald Thome

Donald Thome, age 72 of rural Endeavor, Wisconsin died Sunday, September 7, 2003 at his residence.

Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oxford Funeral Home in Oxford, Wisconsin with Reverend Steven A. Miller officiating. Donald’s cremains will be interred at the Douglas cemetery.

Donald was born December 1, 1930 in rural Adams County, Wisconsin the son of George “Ted” and Lillian (Groskreutz) Thome. He attended rural schools between Oxford and Endeavor and has farmed in this area all of his life. He had been a dairy farmer and raised beef and produce. He had been married to Barbara Eastman and Joan Wiecki. Don was a loving father and grandfather and enjoyed being around family and friends. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing.

Don is survived by his mother, Lillian Thome; sons, Ronald of Portage, Wisconsin and James (Pamela) and Jon (Patricia) both of Oxford; daughters, Roxanne Kindred (Friend, Larry Bartelt) of Endeavor and Teri (Steven) Whaley of Packwaukee, Wisconsin; brother, Carrol Thome of Endeavor; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Wilma Jahn and a grandson, Michael Thome.

Visitation will be held at the Oxford Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

Maxine Rendo

Maxine Rendo, age 68 of Oxford, Wisconsin died Friday, August 15, 2003 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. at the Chapel On The Hill, N2440 Ara Glenn Drive, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin with Pastor Bob Bardin celebrating. Memorial funeral services will also be held on Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oxford Funeral Home, 306 Franklin Avenue, Oxford, Wisconsin with Father Daniel Kelly celebrating.

Maxine was born August 18, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Robert and Gertrude (Huber) Hughes. She shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with her loving husband, Robert. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Her smile and laughter lit up a room. Our beautiful Maxine will live on in our hearts.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Sandra Vazquez of McHenry, Illinois, Robert Jr. (Tina) of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Antoinette Rendo of Schaumburg, Illinois, Denise (Jesse) Basile of Genoa City, Wisconsin and Michell (Jason) Renguso of McHenry, Illinois, and; grandchildren, Valerie, Victoria and Stephen Vazquez, Tristan Rendo, Kelly Hurley and Michelle Benzer; and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bud Hughes and a nephew, Bobby Hughes.

In lieu of flowers it is strongly urged that memorials of remembrance be given to the Ovarian Cancer Fund or to Home Health United Hospice Care, 520 South Boulevard, Baraboo, WI, 53913 .

James Miller

James Miller, age 66 of Oxford, Wisconsin died Sunday, July 6, 2003 as the result of an automobile accident.

Memorial funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oxford Funeral Home in Oxford with Pastor Julie Waterdu officiating. According to his wishes Jim will be cremated.

Jim was born September 19, 1936 in Marshfield, Wisconsin the son of James and Frances (Scherr) Miller and attended schools in Marshfield. He married Dianna Hebein. Jim has been a professional semi truck driver for the past 40 years and has compiled many accident free miles behind the wheel. For the past 30 years he has driven for Peterson Produce of Oxford. His truck driving CB handle was “Short Fuse”. Jim was a member of the U.S. Marine Corp and a longtime member of the Packwaukee and Oxford Lions Clubs.

Jim is survived by sons, Harry Miller of Montello, Wisconsin and Michael Miller of Packwaukee, Wisconsin; daughters, Tami Morrison of Mankato, Minnesota, Lisa (Mark) Whaley and Susan (Kim) Miller both of Packwaukee; brothers, Pete (Donna) Miller of Gages Lake, Illinois, Dave (Mary Jane) Weber of Babcock, Wisconsin and Don Miller of King, Wisconsin; a sister, Judy (Ronald) Lyon of Greensboro, North Carolina; and grandchildren, James and Robyn Whaley, Thomas, Steven and Amelia Miller, Kyle McKibben and Kerensa Morrison. He was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Harry J. Weber who raised Jim; wife, Dianna; sons, Robert and James, Jr.; and sisters, Harriet Weber Hubal and Marlene Miller Dairty.

Visitation will be held at Oxford Funeral Home on Friday from 9 until the time of service at 11 A.M.

Doris Gardinier

Doris Gardinier, age 76 of Oxford, Wisconsin died Thursday, May 22, 2003 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin with Reverend Michael Loescher officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park in Kenosha.

Doris was born February 27, 1927 in Somers, Wisconsin the daughter of Samuel and Dora (Helding) Gardinier and grew up in Somers. In 1955 she married Robert Gardinier in Pickens, South Carolina. For many years she lived with her family in Kenosha before retiring to Oxford. Her favorite pastimes were bowling, golf, gardening, playing cards, needlework and being with her family.

Doris is survived by her husband Robert; sons; Mark (Sandee) and Jerry of Kenosha and Larry of Versailles, Kentucky; daughters, Janet (Charles) Calhoun of Sturtevant, Wisconsin and Lori (Randall) Kersten of Oxford, Wisconsin and Linda Gardinier of Kenosha; brothers, James (Marie) Gardinier of California and Calvin Gardinier of East Troy, Wisconsin; sisters, Ruth Hansche of Stoddard, Wisconsin and Helen Thomas of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edwin and Russell; infant brother David and a sister Margery Hubbard.

Visitation will be held at the Oxford Funeral Home of Oxford, Wisconsin on Friday, May 23, 2003 from 5 to 7 P.M. and on Saturday at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenosha from 11 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Home Health United Hospice of Portage, Wisconsin or the Budda Box Cancer Fighting Organization of Marquette County.

Chester Klein

Chester Klein, age 75 formerly of Oxford, Wisconsin died Thursday, May 22, 2003 at the West Allis Memorial Hospital in West Allis, Wisconsin.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Burial will be at Holy Cross cemetery in Milwaukee.

Chester was born July 4, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the son of Joseph and Catherine (Kielpinski) Klein and grew up in Milwaukee. He served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy and later was drafted into the U.S. Army.

Chester is survived by his sister, Louise (Edwin) Bialobrzeski of Milwaukee and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thadeus.

Visitation will be held at Saint Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Milwaukee on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 from 9:30 until the time of service at 11:00 A.M.
