Duane L. Prindle age 63 of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, October 1, 2010 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital following a battle with cancer. He was born October 12, 1946 in Independence, IA, the son of Ernest and Hazel (Arnold) Prindle. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam War. He married Judith Burco and she later preceded him in death on April 13, 1987. He then married Mary Peloch on May 25, 1995. He owned and operated Lakeside Welding in Hazelton, IA. He later moved to Prairie du Chien and became the General Superintendent for Gen-Cor Bituma in McGregor, IA. Most recently he worked as an over the road truck driver. He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Church and the Prairie du Chien Rod and Gun Club. He is survived by his wife Mary of Prairie du Chien, sons; Michael (Shelley) of Hays, KS, Douglas (Laura) of O’Fallon, IL and Bradley (Jennifer) of Malcolm, NE, step daughters; Guenna (Andy) Corlett of Garnavillo, IA, Angela (Don Brantner) Wall of Pepin, WI and Jennifer Wall of West Salem, WI, 8 grandchildren and 6 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 11:30 AM at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Rev. James Weighner officiating, with burial in the Calvary cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Military rites will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from 9:30 AM until the time of services. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.

Lorraine Antoinette (Trudell) McWilliams

Lorraine A. McWilliams age 96 of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. She was born January 24, 1914 in Iron Mountain, MI, the daughter of Alfred and Albana (LaFountaine) Trudell. She married Robert McWilliams on December 29, 1946. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1975. She is survived by her sons; Thomas (Lynn) of Merrimac, WI, Mark and Todd (DeAnn) both of Prairie du Chien, her daughter Robbie Kilinski of Roswell, GA, her brother Joe (Ruth) Trudell of Appleton, WI, her sisters; Joyce Walsh of Appleton and Genevieve (Jack) Neppar of Iron Mountain, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sisters; Cloe Murray, Edith Trudell, Dorothy Messner and Verna Teasdale.
A private family funeral service will be held graveside at the Calvary cemetery in Prairie du Chien, WI with Rev. James Weighner officiating. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.

Caroline M. (Duha) Walz

Caroline M. Walz age 85 of Steuben passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. She was born February 14, 1925 in Eastman, WI the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Heisz) Duha. She was a graduate of Seneca High School. She married John Walz on February 22, 1943. They farmed in the Steuben area. She worked at Roach’s Grocery in Eastman and later for the Beaumont Nursing Home in Prairie du Chien. Caroline worked in security for 3M Company for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and traveling. She is survived by her sons; John (Margaret) of Columbus, WI, Robert (Sue) of Wauzeka, WI, Allen (Donna) of LaCrosse, WI, her daughters; Jeanne (Roy) Zimmerman of St. Paul, MN, Mary (Vincent) Manning of Eastman, Peggy (Dan) Sprosty of Steuben, Janice (Calvin) Kramer of Wauzeka, and Kay (Mark) Bird of Hillsborough, OR, daughter in law Becky Martin of Wauzeka, brothers; Lloyd (Donna) Duha of Eastman and Eldon (Sue) Duha of Galesville, WI, sisters; Isabelle Wall of Prairie du Chien and Edith (Jack) Morovits of Wauzeka, 82 grandchildren, 215 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sons; Gerald and Nicholas and an infant son Phillip, an infant daughter Charlotte, brothers; Francis, Arnold and Virgil, a sister Betty DuCharme, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A Requiem Mass will be Friday, October 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien with Father Anthony Leonardo officiating. Interment will be in the St. Wenceslaus cemetery in Eastman. Friends may call on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Friends may also call one hour prior to services on Friday, October 1, 2010.

Blazek, Edward "Ed"

PORTAGE/ POYNETTE - Edward "Ed" Blazek, age 67, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at University Hospital in Madison. Ed was born on Nov. 20, 1940, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Theodore "Red" and Mary (Klobucar) St. John. He married Elizabeth M. Smith on Aug. 11, 1961, in Chicago, and worked for more than 20 years at Cascade Mountain Ski Hill. Ed is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of the Township of Caledonia; mother, Mary St. John of Chicago, Ill.; children, Eddie Jr. (Teresa) Blazek of DesArc, Ark., Ann (Tom Heaps) Angell of Pardeeville, Pamela (Jim Jameson) Walter of Poynette, and Jeff (Jenny Dornacker) Blazek of Portage; grandchildren, Joey, Cody, and Willie Blazek, Beth and Ashley Angell, and Jacob Walter; great-grandson, Brayden Alves; brothers, Steve (Dorothy) Blazek of Indiana, John Blazek of Oak Forrest, Ill., Eugene St. John of Lansing, Ill., and Tony (Diane Semonson) Blazek of Rio; sisters, Franny Jones of Ohio, Loretta St. John of Alabama, Bonnie (Roger) Croft of Indiana, and Diane (Mike) Schnabel of Chicago; mother-in-law, Elsie Stakley of Portage; and many nieces, nephews, other near relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008, at ST. THOMAS CATHOLIC CHURCH in Poynette, with Father Raymond Dischler presiding. Burial will follow at Hillside cemetery in Poynette. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2008, at the PFLANZ MANTEY MENDRALA FUNERAL HOME in Poynette, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church, on Friday. The family wishes to thank their relatives and friends for their kind thoughts and gestures.

Caire, Mary B.

MADISON - Mary B. Caire, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 20, 2008, at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born Oct. 18, 1915, in Gurdon, Ark., to Alfred and Jesse (Lunon) Thomas. Mary came to Madison in 1935 with her mother and siblings. She worked for many years doing domestic work for many Madison families and ended her employment life as a clerk with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Mary was very active in the Madison community for most of her life. Mary was a longtime member of St. Paul AME Church joining with her family the day after arriving in Madison; she was a founding member of S.S. Morris Community AME Church; past president of the Wisconsin Assn. Of Colored Women's Club for two terms; founding member of the Madison Branch of the NAACP and Friendship Chapter No. 2, Order of the Eastern Star. Mary was also very active in the South Madison neighborhood. She was a long time board member of the South Madison Neighborhood Center and was a member of the committee who rebuilt the building of the present day South Madison Boys and Girls Club. Mary was also a founding committee member of the City of Madison Neighborhood Associations and the first president of the Brams Addition Neighborhood Association (BANA); Church Women United. She was a past worthy maitron and one of six charter members of Friendship Chapter No. 2, Order of the Easter Star, State of WI, Prince Hall Affiliation. In addition, Mary was also a past grand custodian of the Unity Grand Chapter, Order of the Easter Star, State of WI, Prince Hall Affiliation. Mary always felt that education, a strong work ethic and community activism were byproducts of good citizenship and instilled those values into her family and others by example. Mary was united in marriage to Edgar P. Caire in 1936. From that union came four daughters, Dolores (Maurice Sr.) Gavin, Corrine Caire, Marie J. Thomas and Gretchen Caire; eight grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; and her daughter, Corinne. The family wishes to give a special thank you to sons-in-law, Maurice Gavin Sr. and Samuel Thomas; the staff of Capitol Lakes Health Center; Meriter Hospital Doctors and staff of the 6th and 11th floors; HospiceCare Inc.; Physicians Plus staff, Dr. Thomas Casper; Gail Gaustad, N.P.; Dr. Bradley Manning and his nurse Lori; Chaplain Guta Cvetkovic, Capitol Lakes Pastoral Care; Pastor Bob Groth, Chaplain, HospiceCare Inc. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, with a visitation starting at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Hill cemetery.

Dean, Lafredrick Michael Newell "Mickey"

MADISON - Lafredrick Michael Newell "Mickey" Dean departed this life on Monday, July 21, 2008, at the age of 33 years old. He was born on June 21, 1975, in Chicago, Ill., to Marie R. Flemings. Lafredrick graduated from Madison East High School in June 1994. He leaves to mourn his beloved mother, Marie R. Flemings; son, Corey Dean; sister, Yoshi-Cheon (Benard) Dean; two brothers, Anthony (Tricia) Dean and Terrence Austin; eight aunties, Laura Johnson, Shelley Dean and Pearlie Dean, all of Madison, Alberta Dean and Sharon Richardson, both of Chicago, Ill., Shirley Porter of Minnesota, Mariah Stughill and Johnnie Ingram, both of Jefferson City, Mo.; seven uncles, Marrie Dean, Cheyenne Dean, George Dean, Victor Dean, Patrick Dean and Roy Deeds, all of Madison, and Christopher Dean of Higgensville, Mo.; a cousin, Alene Rucker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008, with Pastor Harold Rayford presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Meyer, Ann

MADISON - Ann Meyer, age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Ann was born on Dec. 9, 1914, in Bernard, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Margaret Fah. On Feb. 12, 1936, Ann married Cletus Meyer at St. Raphael's Cathedral in Madison. Ann took pleasure in raising her two daughters, Barbara and Dianne. She also enjoyed gardening and was known for having beautiful roses. Ann was also a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Ann is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Richard) Wiest of Verona, and Dianne (Gary) Eschman of Santa Fe, N.M.; dear friends and neighbors, Kathy, Carl and Ashley Maglio of Verona; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cletus; and brothers, Joe Fah of San Francisco, and Frank Fah of Cascade, Iowa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2008, 10:30 a.m., at HOLY REDEEMER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 120 W. Johnson St., Madison. Monsignor Kevin Holmes will officiate the Mass. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Catholic cemetery. The family extends a special thank you to Willow Point Assistant Living in Verona and HospiceCare for all the excellent care given to their mother, Ann.
