Middlekauff, John S.

MADISON/ SCHAUMBURG, ILL. - John S. Middlekauff, age 60, passed away at home with Hospice and family on Friday, July 18, 2008, following a courageous battle with cancer. His body will be donated to science as he wished. John was born on June 15, 1948, in Eau Claire, the son of John and Ruth Middlekauff. He graduated from West High School, Madison Area Technical College and moved to Milwaukee, where he graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering. He relocated to Schaumburg, Ill. He retired from Lucent Technology. While working allowed him and his wife to travel the world. He had a passion for NASCAR racing, building remote control helicopters, target shooting and many hobbies. He is survived by his high school sweetheart of 44 years, Tara Piazza; and three sons, Mark of Arizona, Jason and Ryan of Schaumburg, Ill.; a grandchild, Colin of Port Washington; sister, Jan Lynn of Milwaukee; parents, Ruth and John of Florida; aunts, uncles; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison, on Saturday, July 26, 2008. Greeting of the family will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service with a luncheon to follow. He will be missed, but he will never be forgotten; he has left us with a memory of a life that gave to all of us, so much humor, wisdom and joy. He was a loving husband and father.
We will miss you, Dad and Grampa you were the best. We love you. You are my sole mate for life, your wife.

Purcell, James W.

DARLINGTON/ WATERTOWN - James W. Purcell, age 50, of Watertown and formerly of Darlington, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 21, 2008, at his home of an apparent heart attack. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at HOLY ROSARY CATHOLIC CHURCH with Father Randy Budnar officiating. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008, at STEIL CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 206 E. Harriet St., Darlington, where a Scripture Service will be held at 4 p.m.

REWEY - Robert W. Quinlan, age 63, of Rewey, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008, at his home. Arrangements are pending at the Gorgen-McGinley and Ayers Funeral Home in Dodgeville.

Rice, Rachel Agnes (Joyce)

SEXTONVILLE - Rachel Agnes (Joyce) Rice, age 93, of Sextonville, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008, at Pine Valley Healthcare Center. Rachel was born Aug. 9, 1914, the fourth child of John and Mary (Thompson) Joyce of Richland Center. She graduated from Sextonville High School in 1932, thereafter earning a teaching degree at Richland County Normal. She moved to Madison, where she later married Gerald William Rice on July 3, 1938, at St. James Rectory. Rachel worked her entire life as the loving and caring matriarch of her family. She and her husband, Gerald, were most proud of their family which consisted of 13 children, 11 of which survive them. The survivors include, Diane (Fritz) Anderson of Madison, Donna (Howard) Holz of Pewaukee, Maureen (Tom) Mooney Pewaukee, Mary (Steve) Dana of Johnson Creek, William (Becky McDermott) Rice of McFarland, Tom (Beverly Propp) Rice of Belleville, Mike (Sharlene Spurley) Rice of Madison, Patrick (Carol Gamer) Rice of Fountain City, Jerry (Jan Thomas) Rice of McFarland, Dan (Sandy Moe) Rice of Loyd, John (Rita Cook) Rice of Cottage Grove, and Helen Marie (Fargen) Rice, widow of Richard; 27 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; her husband of 53 years, Gerald; loving son, Richard; and treasured infant daughter, Teresa. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, in Richland Center. Father Andre Panek will officiate with burial to follow in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, July 24, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL with a parish rosary to be held at 4 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. The Pratt Funeral Service is assisting the family with their arrangements. The family would like to express their deep appreciation of all the caring and giving staff at the Pine Valley Healthcare Center for all they did to provide not only for our Mom, but also our family as we dealt with this difficult time. We would also like to express our gratitude to Dr. Robin Butrick and Dr. Steve Thomas for their years of counsel and personal level of care for Mom.
You and Dad will be forever missed, always appreciated, and forever loved. Love your Family!

Sadowske, Edward John

WESTFORD TOWNSHIP - Edward John Sadowske, age 63, joined his Heavenly Father on Monday, July 21, 2008, at his home in Westford Township, Dodge County, after a nine year battle with cancer that escalated on March 7, 2008, with anaplastic thyroid carcinoma. Ed was born on Sept. 18, 1944, to Leonard H. and Pearl I. (Wagner) Sadowske. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1962 and lived and farmed his entire life on the family farm on Poplar Ridge Road. On Aug. 21, 1982, he was united in marriage with Dawn Indermuehle at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Beaver Dam, and they were blessed to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary last year. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing euchre and cribbage. He loved to be outdoors, so farming was his number one activity besides hiking and canoeing. Ed was so happy when his daughter, Becky decided to go hunting with him and also when she took-up bowling. He was always on the move and nothing ever fazed him. Ed is survived by his wife, Dawn Sadowske of Beaver Dam; his daughter, Rebecca (Chad) Hanke of Reedsburg; a lovingly anticipated grandson; his parents, Leonard and Lorraine Sadowske of Beaver Dam; his sisters and brother, Margaret (Floyd) Kitelinger of Hixton, Gladys (Rodger) Mattson of Beaver Dam, and Thomas (Pam) Sadowske of Waupun; three sisters-in-law, Diane (George) Foreyt of Bloomington, Donna (William) Knickmeyer of Prairie du Sac, and Darlene (Mark) Schaefer of Hudson; a brother-in-law, Dale (Linda Acker) Indermuehle of Middleton; a nephew, 10 nieces, and their families; as well as other relatives and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his mother, in 1978; his mother-in-law, Dolores Indermuehle, in 2004; his father-in-law, Roland Indermuehle, in 2007; a nephew, Ryan Knickmeyer, in 2005; a cousin, John Sadowske, in 2006; his maternal grandparents, George and Marie Wagner; his paternal grandparents, John and Appolonia Sadowske; and Dawn's two grandmothers, who Ed knew and loved. Visitation for Ed will be at the MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, Beaver Dam, on Thursday, July 24, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. where a parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL CHURCH, 511 S. Spring St., in Beaver Dam, on Friday, July 25, 2008, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Friday, beginning at 11 a.m. Father Jose Gonzalez will officiate. Burial will be at St. Peter's cemetery in the Beaver Dam Township, Dodge County.
When Ed became sick, we found out just how many great friends and family we have that helped in any way they could - to them, thank you very much. A special thanks to Ken Neuman and Danny Hupf for doing the milking and continuing to do the chores even after the milking herd was sold.

VERONA - Jacklyn Mary Schuetz, age 64, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008. Family and friends may call on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Sharpee, Robert J.

MILWAUKEE - Robert J. Sharpee, age 87, found peace surrounded by the love of his family Monday, July 21, 2008. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Ann Sharpee; was the loving father of Susan Guerrero, Kristine Lengling, and Timothy (Julie) Sharpee; the cherished grandpa of Joel, Kate, and Zachary Guerrero, Amy Damman, Megan Lengling, and Abigail and Jackson Sharpee; great-grandpa of Anthony, Caitlin, Natalie, Brandon, Lily-Rose and Michia; and beloved brother of Olive Leikvold and Arthur (Elaine) Sharpee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Sena Sharpee; and his siblings, Perry and Edwin Sharpee, Ella Peterson, Irene Coffee, and Neenah Ryan. Bob will be remembered by other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, July 25, 2008, at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 15250 W. Sommer, Evelyn

MINERAL POINT - Evelyn Sommer, age 77, of Mineral Point, and formerly of the Milwaukee, Platteville and Cuba City areas, died on Monday, July 21, 2008, at her home in Mineral Point. She was born June 16, 1931, in Milwaukee to Otto and Emma (Schwonke) Sommer. Evelyn was an underwriter in the insurance industry. She was a kind and caring person who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by two sisters, Emma B. Schallhorn of Oconomowoc, and Dolores I. Poulos of Grafton; a brother, Robert Sommer of Platteville; and nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ralph and Ronald; and two brothers-in-law, Chris and Emil. There will be no visitation; private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park cemetery in New Berlin. The Haudenshield Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Cuba City is in charge of arrangements.

Weber, Emma C.

MADISON - Emma C. Weber, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2008, at Meriter Hospital. She was born on June 9, 1920, in Pierceville, the daughter of John and Josephine (Heisler) Frodl. Following high school, Emma graduated from Madison Business College with a degree in accounting. On April 15, 1941, she married Walter F. Weber at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church in Sun Prairie. While raising her children, she worked part-time as an accountant for a local dental office. In 1966, she began full-time employment with the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) where she was responsible for the accurate accounting of the State of Wisconsin Title I/ Chapter I program. She remained with DPI until her retirement in 1982 after serving the State as a supervising accountant for 16 years. In 1990, Emma was recognized by the State of Wisconsin and by the United States Department of Education for her commendable service, dedication and significant contribution to the State of Wisconsin Title I/ Chapter I program. Emma was a generous, strong and hardworking person. She lived her life by and raised her children with a strong work and moral ethic. She loved the state of Wisconsin and particularly enjoyed car rides through the Wisconsin farmlands. She also had a special love for birds and flowers, and enjoyed her yard with its beautiful begonias and roses. She was an avid card player and loved a good game of canasta. Emma is survived by her three children, Walter J. (Kris Fischer) of Middleton, Anne (Richard) Skowlund of Sheboygan, and Susan (Craig) Caldwell of Lodi; grandchildren, Walter P. (Donna) Weber, Chris Weber, Jody (Steve) Louis, Greg (Bobbi) Weber, Julia (Nathan) Franzene and Michael (Jennifer) Skowlund; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Kyle, Erin and Drew; two sisters, Anna Frodl of Sun Prairie, and Lorraine Nelson of Tempe, Ariz.; and nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter F. Weber; sister, Mary Benisch; and daughter-in-law, Betty (Tina) Weber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2008, 11 a.m., at ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1134 St. James Court, Madison. Monsignor Thomas Baxter will officiate. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic cemetery in Sun Prairie. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. James Grade School.

Whitnall, Jeanne D.

WATERTOWN/ BEAVER DAM - Jeanne D. Whitnall, age 89, of Watertown and formerly of Beaver Dam, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at home. She was born May 2, 1919, in Delavan, the daughter of Harold and Hazel (Truesdell) Dalton. Jeanne was a teacher and pioneer in the field of special education, having worked in Beaver Dam, Waupun and Door County. Survivors include a son, William (Barbara) Whitnall of Racine; a daughter, Barbara (Kenneth) Lennox of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; two grandsons; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband on Dec. 21, 2000. Funeral services will be held at CHRIST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Watertown at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2008, with the Rev. Lee Meissner officiating. Friends may call at CHRIST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH on Thursday after 9:30 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam. Memorials may be given to Green Valley Enterprises, 1223 Madison St., Beaver Dam. Pederson Funeral Home, Watertown is serving the family.
