Yurowski, Michael J.

SAUK PRAIRIE - Michael J. Yurowski, age 54, left his earthly life of pain and sorrow and entered into eternal life cradled safely in the arms of his heavenly Father on Sunday, July 20, 2008. Michael was born Sunday, Dec. 27, 1953, in Baraboo, the son of John and Marlys (Taylor) Yurowski. He graduated from Sauk Prairie High School in 1972 where he participated in football, basketball and baseball. In earlier years he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and disco dancing. Michael had a love for animals as he always had some type of pet in his home including dogs, birds, rabbits, turtles and reptiles. He had a passion for designing and growing flowers. He enjoyed watching and following the Chicago Bears, Bulls and Cubs, and was a true sports fan. Michael was dedicated to studying God's word and spent many hours studying the Bible and spreading the good news. He would say, "God is awesome." Survivors include his mother, Marlys Yurowski; a daughter, Andrea Yurowski; a grandson, Derek Schumacher; sister and brother-in-law, Joni and Gary Stiemke; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John; and his son, Derrick. The family would like to thank UW Hospital I.C.U. Neuroscience nurses for their care of Michael following brain cancer surgery and HospiceCare Inc. for their wonderful care and support. Funeral services will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City on Thursday, July 24, 2008, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Richard Lehmann officiating. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius cemetery. Friends may call from noon until time of service on Thursday.

Caire, Mary B.

MADISON - Mary B. Caire, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 20, 2008, at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born Oct. 18, 1915, in Gurdon, Ark. to Alfred and Jesse (Lunon) Thomas. Mary came to Madison in 1935 with her mother and siblings. She worked for many years doing domestic work for many Madison families and ended her employment life as a clerk with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Mary was very active in the Madison community for most of her life. Mary was a longtime member of St. Paul AME Church joining with her family the day after arriving in Madison; she was a founding member of S.S. Morris Community AME Church; past president of the Wisconsin Association of Colored Women's Club for two terms; founding member of the Madison branch of the NAACP and Friendship Chapter No. 2, Order of the Eastern Star. Mary was also very active in the South Madison neighborhood. She was a long time board member of the South Madison Neighborhood Center and was a member of the committee who rebuilt the building of the present day South Madison Boys and Girls Club. Mary was also a founding committee member of the City of Madison Neighborhood Associations and the first president of the Brams Addition Neighborhood Association (BANA); Church Women United. Mary always felt that education, a strong work ethic and community activism were byproducts of good citizenship and instilled those values into her family and others by example. Mary was united in marriage to Edgar P. Caire in 1936. From that union came four daughters, Dolores (Maurice Sr.) Gavin, Corrine Caire, Marie J. Thomas and Gretchen Caire; eight grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; and her daughter, Corinne. The family wishes to give a special thank you to sons-in-law Maurice Gavin Sr. and Samuel Thomas; the staff of Capitol Lakes Health Center; Meriter Hospital doctors and staff of the 6th and 11th floors; HospiceCare, Inc.; Physicians Plus staff, Dr. Thomas Casper; Gail Gaustad, N.P.; Dr. Bradley Manning and his nurse Lori; Chaplain Guta Cvetkovic, Capitol Lakes Pastoral Care; Pastor Bob Groth, Chaplain, HospiceCare, Inc. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, with a visitation starting at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Hill cemetery.

Drown, Barbara L.

OSHKOSH - Barbara L. Drown, age 75 of Oshkosh, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. She was born in Oshkosh on June 26, 1933, the daughter of the late Clark and Kathryn Schreiber Drown. Barbara was a graduate of Oshkosh High School and the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. She taught school in Pembine and Cambellsport, Wis., and then retired after 45 years as a research analyst from the Division of Corrections, State of Wisconsin in Madison. She was a lifetime member of A.C.L.U., the Democratic Party, and was a shareholder of the Green Bay Packers, which she loved dearly. She was an avid reader and history buff and loved to travel. She took her nephew and nieces on trips to New York, San Francisco and Austin, Texas. Barbara is survived by a sister, who cared for her over the last few years, Patricia Steffens of Oshkosh; a nephew, Mark Steffens of Milwaukee; three nieces, Kathy (Mark) Simanek of Excelsior, Minn., Linda (Rob Lucjak) Steffens of Cedarburg, and Lisa (Edsel LaBillois) Steffens of Oshkosh. In accordance to Barbara's wishes, no formal funeral services are being held. If you wish to donate to Barbara's favorite charities, they are the Oshkosh Humane Society, the Oshkosh Salvation Army, and the Oshkosh Public Library.

Henry, Gerald "Pat"

MADISON - Gerald "Pat" Henry, age 75, died on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on July 9, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of John S. and Herma (Lorraine) Henry. He was married to Shirley, his childhood sweetheart and soulmate who preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 1998. Pat was one of the founders of Big Brothers in Dane County, a Mason, a member of Zor Shrine, Lodge No. 5. He served in the Korean conflict as a sergeant in the Army. He was successful in many things, including being a husband, dad and grandfather. He began a career as a packaging salesman, working for Champion International, Horner Waldorf Corporation, and semi-retired working as a sales broker with the Rock Tenn Corporation. He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman. He loved going to the family cabin in Northern Wisconsin. Survivors include four children, Michael (fiancee, Vicki Linnane) Henry, Kevin (Renata) Henry, Carrie Troia and Mark (Lori) Henry; and four grandchildren, Timothy and Mary Henry, Anna Troia and Ryan Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Shirley. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held at the JOYCE-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Road, Madison, on Friday, July 25, 2008, at 7 p.m. Pastoral intern, Kirsten Fryer will officiate. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UW Dialysis or your favorite charities. Keller, Leonard N.

VERONA - Leonard N. Keller, age 72, of Verona, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison after a long illness. He was born on Sept. 9, 1935, in Perry Township to Leo and Ludwina "Patsy" (Lamberty) Keller. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. He married Marlene J. Subera on Sept. 26, 1959, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Leonard worked at Oscar Mayer and Company for 38 years as a meat cutter and power plant technician. He also drove school bus and motor coach for companies in Verona and Mount Horeb. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; his daughters, Sandy Keller (Dave Buroker) of La Crosse, and Paula Keller (Rod Henrichs) of Madison; and his grandson, Nicholas K. Buroker. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Daniel (Jeanne) Keller of New Glarus, Louise (Charlie) Buechner of Waunakee, Raphael "Ray" Keller of Madison, Gerald "Jerry" (Judy) Keller of Mount Horeb, and Linda "Lynn" (Harold) Mattison of Verona; his mother-in-law, Josephine Subera of Hillsboro; his sister-in-law, Alice (Richard) Stehr of Stillwater, Minn.; and many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Keller; a sister-in-law, Marian Keller; two nieces, Jill Keller and Kathy Keller, ; and his father-in-law, Joseph Subera. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008, at ST. ANDREW'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 N. Main St., Verona, with Father David Timmerman officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Holy Redeemer Catholic cemetery in Perry Township. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2008, at ELLESTAD FUNERAL HOME, 500 N. 8th St., Mount Horeb where a Scripture Service will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Koch, Trevor E.

SUN PRAIRIE - Trevor E. Koch, age 28, passed away tragically from a motorcycle accident on Tuesday, July 22, 2008. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held in the North Oakland cemetery, Jefferson. Norton, Sylvia Margaret

OREGON - Sylvia Margaret Norton, age 85, of Oregon, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008, at Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Stoughton. She was born on Dec. 28, 1922, in Cross Plains, the daughter of Theodore and Lena (Geraths) Falkenstein. She married Neil A. Norton on June 11, 1946, in Cross Plains. Together the couple farmed in rural Oregon (Storytown). Sylvia was a member of Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, doing needle-point, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She belonged to and enjoyed getting together with her crochet club. She is survived by four children, Richard (Eileen) of Brooklyn, Robert (Bonnie) of Stoughton, Mary Maly of Madison, and Susan (David) Rennhack of Oregon; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul (Martha) Falkenstein of Cross Plains; and sister, Margaret Buttchen of Stoughton. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Neil; parents; brother, Victor; and son, Thomas John. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, on Monday, July 28, 2008, at 11 a.m., with Father Bill Connell presiding. Burial will follow at St. James cemetery, in Dayton. Visitation will be held at the GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 431 Soden Drive, Oregon, on Sunday, July 27, 2008, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., and at church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A special thank you to the staff and residents of Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation Center for the care and spirit they provided.

Schuetz, Jacklyn M. "Jackie"

VERONA - Jacklyn Mary Schuetz, age 64, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at home, in the arms of her loving husband, Ron, after a lengthy battle with myotonic dystrophy. Jackie was born Nov. 25, 1943, to Robert and Mary (Brown) Geller. She attended Middleton High School and graduated in 1961. Jackie married her husband of 45 years, Ron Schuetz, on May 18, 1963. She was proud of her work as an LPN at St. Mary's Hospital where she worked up until the time of her early retirement because of her disability. Jackie is survived by her husband, Ron; sons, Todd Schuetz of Seattle, Wash. and Tim (Jodi) Schuetz of Verona; and daughter, Teri (Steve) Daigle of Merrill. Jackie very much enjoyed her grandchildren, Jake and Will Schuetz and Amber and Hailey Daigle. Additionally, Jackie is survived by brothers, Dan (Lynn) Geller of Red Lake Falls, Minn. and Mark (Renee) Geller of Verona; sister, Jill (Bruce) Langevin of Tucson, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jackie was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Christine; her parents, Robert "Bob" and Mary Geller; and a brother, David Geller. Jackie valiantly fought her myotonic dystrophy for more than 40 years and never once complained. Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at HospiceCare, Independent Living, and the many friends (particularly the card club group) who assisted Jackie and Ron in their endeavor to keep Jackie at home to the very end where she was the most comfortable. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison. Family and friends may call on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Wittwer, Scott F.

VERONA - Scott F. Wittwer, age 48, of Verona passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at HospiceCare, Inc. in Fitchburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at the SALEM UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 502 Mark Drive, Verona. Relatives and friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008, at the BECKER-BEAL FUNERAL HOME, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville.

Fr. Robert J. Brophy

Rev. Fr. Robert J. Brophy, of Madison and formerly of Mt. Horeb died on Saturday, June 1, 2002 at the Nazareth House in Stoughton. He was born July 31, 1929 in Lone Rock, WI to James D. & Nona E. (Hennessy) Brophy. He was ordained a priest May 26, 1956.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Mt. Horeb, WI with the Most Rev. Bishop William Bullock presiding and the Most Rev. Bishop George Wirz concelebrating with the priests of the diocese. Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Mt. Horeb where a prayer service (office of the dead) will be at 6:00 PM. Also, a morning prayer service will be at 7:30 AM on Wednesday at the Church.

The Ellestad Funeral Home, 500 N. 8th. St., Mt. Horeb is serving the family.

Scott James LaPorte

Scott James LaPorte of Mount Horeb went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the age of 36.

Scott is survived by his son, Alexander; his grandfather, Burnell Halverson of Mt. Horeb; his father, James (Susan) La Porte of the town of Delafield; his sisters, Angela (Fawel) Wolosz of Waukesha, Leslie Lovelien of Watertown; and his brother, Thomas (Heather) LaPorte of Waukesha. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Virgene LaPorte; his brother, Brandon LaPorte, and his grandmother, Maxine Halverson.

Memorial services will be held at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 315 E. Main St., Mt. Horeb, Thursday, June 6, 2002 at 11:00 am. The Ellestad Funeral Home is serving the family.

Scott was an avid artist, loved guitars and music, and had a heart and soul full of love. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Isaiah Duane Wallace

Isaiah Duane Wallace, infant son of Scotty and Stephanie (Arneson) Wallace, was born and received into eternal life, on Monday, June 3, 2002 at Meriter Park Hospital in Madison.

He is survived by: Two sisters, Abigail and Emma both at home His paternal Grandparents: Duane and Susie Wallace of West Lima His maternal Grandparents: Hilton and the late Janet Arneson of Barneveld.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, June 7, 2002 at the Ellestad Funeral Home, 500 N. 8th St., Mt. Horeb, WI, with Rev. Dale Pace officiating. Burial will be at German Valley cemetery.

Angela M. Davies

Angela M. Davies, 35, of Mount Horeb died at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare facility, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, June 6, 2002 after a very long and difficult battle with cancer.

The former Angela Michelle Christofferson was born on July 2, 1966 in Eau Claire to Mike and Connie (Koerner) Christofferson. She graduated in 1984 from James Madison Memorial High School in Madison and then earned a BA in Home Economics Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

She married Steven Davies on June 20, 1987 in the presence of many family and friends at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Madison. They have a daughter, Amanda Mae, born in 1990, and a son, Peter James, born in 1993.

Angie was a member of St. Ignatius and Holy Redeemer Parishes, where she was very active in the religious education programs. She enjoyed teaching religion to the kids and also coordinated the Holy Redeemer School of Religion for three years. Since 1988, Angie worked with infants and toddlers at Animal Crackers, Inc. in Madison and Children's Community School in Mt. Horeb. In 1997, she became a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Verona Area High School where she taught classes to the students in child development, parenting, and other life skills. She had a special relationship with many of her students and co-workers.

Angie loved spending time with children, especially her daughter Amanda and her son Peter. Many people commented on her natural ability to interact with kids and they loved being around her. She worked as a Girl Scout co-leader for the last four years for Mt. Horeb Girl Scout Troop 41.

She is survived by her husband Steve and their children Amanda and Peter of Mt. Horeb, her mother Connie Keator of Madison, her father Mike Christofferson of Eau Claire, her sister Cindy Fleischman and son Justin Simpson of Madison, her grandparents Marvin and Suzanne Koerner of Eau Claire, her uncle and aunt James and Marge Koerner and their son Samuel of Eau Claire, and many special and close relatives in the Davies family and extended Koerner family. A large group of very close friends also share in the loss.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 9 at Ellestad Funeral Home in Mt. Horeb. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., on Monday, June 10 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Mt. Horeb. Burial will be at St. Ignatius Calvary cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at Ellestad Funeral Home, 500 N. 8th St., Mt. Horeb, 53572 for Angie's children. Memorials in her name can also be made to HospiceCare or to American Cancer Society for this year's Relay for Life in Mt. Horeb.

Loretta M. Statz

Loretta M. Statz, age 66, of Pine Bluff, WI died on Thursday, June 06, 2002 at Meriter Park Hospital in Madison.

She was born August 19, 1935 in Belleville, WI to Lawrence and Stella (Sutter) Keller. She married Duwayne "Butch" Statz on May 29, 1954 in Mt. Horeb, WI. She did bookkeeping for the family business. She loved flowers, birds, nature and her collection of sheep figurines. She was a member of St. Mary's of Pine Bluff Catholic Church, of its Council of Catholic Women, of which she was past president, and a member of the Pine Bluff Historical Society. She was involved in civic and community activities.

She is survived by her husband: Duwayne "Butch" Her children: David (Joann) Statz of Cross Plains, Elizabeth "Lisa" (Jeff) Dye of Madison, Mark Statz of Mt. Horeb, and Jeanne (Bryan) Poast of Black Earth' 3 Grandchildren: Kasey Poast, Andrew and Jeremy Statz; Her grandchildren were the sparkle in her eyes. Four brothers: Wallace (Shirley) Keller of Mt. Horeb, Raymond Keller of Mt. Horeb, James Keller of Arizona, and Larry "Pete" (Linda) Keller of Mt. Horeb; three sisters: Betty (Duwayne) Dougherty of Ridgeway, Rosemary (Joe) Vargas of Sun Prairie, and Mary (Rollie) Buechner of Mt. Horeb; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and brother-in-law: Delores and Harold Laufenberg and a brother: Paul Keller.

Mass will be at 11:00 am on Monday, June 10, 2002 at St. Mary's of Pine Bluff Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery in Mt. Horeb. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Sunday, June 9, 2002 at St. Mary's of Pine Bluff Church. The Ellestad Funeral Home, Mt. Horeb, is serving the family. Loretta touched the lives of so many people and she will be sadly missed by family and friends.
