Quinn, Alivia Agnes

WISCONSIN DELLS - Alivia Agnes Quinn, born on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, died in the arms of her parents, on Thursday, July 24, 2008. Sweet Alivia was called into God's host of little angels from Meriter Hospital in Madison. Never was a child loved so much in so short a time. Alivia was born July 23, 2008, in Madison, the daughter of Nathan and Elizabeth (Fox) Quinn. Alivia is survived by her parents; maternal grandparents, Ed and Colleen Fox of Wisconsin Dells; paternal grandparents, James (Renee Gilbertsen) Quinn of Madison, and Vicki Davis of Arkdale; and aunts and uncles, Jon (Jill) Fox of New Lenox, Ill., Katie (James) Tanton of Summerville, S.C., Michael (Kari) Quinn of Carver, Minn., Amanda Voorhies of Wisconsin Rapids, Marilyn (Wayne) Riemer of Montello, and Kelly Stoll of Sun Prairie; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by an uncle, Mark Quinn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at ST. CECILIA CATHOLIC CHURCH in Wisconsin Dells, with Father Arnold Reuter celebrating. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held at ST. CECILIA CATHOLIC CHURCH on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. The Picha Funeral Home and Crematory of Lake Delton, assisted the family with arrangements. (

Ryan, Dorothy

BARABOO - Dorothy Ryan, age 82, of Baraboo, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo. Dorothy was born Aug. 30, 1925, in Rutland, S.D., the daughter of John and Tina (DeFriese) Ufkes. In November 1943, she married William Ryan in Chicago, Ill. Dorothy loved her family. She enjoyed bowling, giving to the Humane Society and was an avid gardener. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Robert) Nagel of Baraboo; sons, William (Laurie) Ryan of Reedsburg, and James (Cindy) Ryan of Milwaukee; a sister, Jeanette Stapleton of Westchester, Ill.; her grandchildren, Justin and Josh Nagel, and Jason, Adam and Michael Ryan; as well as her faithful companion for the past 12 years, her dog "Buddy". She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers; and sisters. Memorial Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at 7:30 p.m. at the PICHA FUNERAL HOME in Lake Delton, with Father Monahan officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Sauk County Humane Society. Schwab, Harold J. "Hal"

WAUKESHA - Harold J. "Hal" Schwab, of Waukesha, died on Sunday, July 27, 2008, age 79. Hal was the devoted husband of Iris; loving father of Mark (Pam), Theresa (Sebastian) Bednarek and Paul (Brenda); and fun-loving grandpa of Marlaina, Ryland, Marissa, Easton and Lauren. Hal is further survived by his sisters, Alice (James) Burlingame, Marie Ely and Elaine Cease; sister-in-law, Lucille Schwab; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Heldt and Edward Drabick. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Hal was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clara; brothers, Ozzi and Franklin; and sisters, Esther Drabick and Florence Meyers. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 30, 2008, from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Second visitation will be Thursday, July 31, 2008, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH in Waukesha. A committal service will take place on Thursday at 2 p.m. at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC cemetery. Memorials in Hal's name may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.

Steffes, Matthew J.

MONROE - Matthew J. Steffes, age 61, of Monroe, died following a brief illness on Sunday, July 27, 2008, at his mother's home in Platteville. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Steffes of Monroe; three children, Shannon Steffes, Shanelle Sanchez and Shawn Steffes, all of Monroe; three grandchildren, Selena, Oscar and Alex Sanchez; his mother, Jean Steffes of Platteville; four brothers, John (Peggy) of Mineral Point, Bernard of Dubuque, Iowa, Jerry (Jannan) of Cuba City, and Daniel of Platteville; and five sisters, Virginia (Kenneth) Leahy of Belmont, Marion (John) Calvert of Benton, Joanne (Jeff) Chandler of Platteville, Doris (Craig) Skattum of Rewey, and Debbie (Scott) Andrews of Darlington. He was preceded in death by his father in 1983. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 11 a.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 1329 31st. Ave., Monroe. Interment will follow in Greenwood cemetery, Monroe. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Matt's name. Terpstra, Ellen Lubinsky

ONALASKA - Ellen L. Terpstra at the age of 95, came to the end of her long and full life on Wednesday, July 2, 2008. She was born on Aug. 5, 1912, to Michael and Clara (Voss) Forss. Ellen was married to Richard G. Lubinsky on Dec. 17, 1937, in La Crosse. He preceded her in death at the young age of 51 on Oct. 21, 1965. Ellen was marred to Donald R. Terpstra on June 21, 1969, and he also preceded her in death. Ellen was a member of North Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed flying with her husband, Rich, to have breakfast in Madison, and all the other flying trips that they traveled on. Ellen made a trip to Europe on the Queen Mary with her husband, Donald and loved it all. She enjoyed her winters in Florida, and other travels. She is survived by her sons, Richard (Betty) Lubinsky and Thomas (June) Lubinsky; daughter-in-law, Colleen Lubinsky; stepdaughter, Rae Daffinson; and stepson, Gordon Terpstra; seven grandchildren, Cheryl (Brad) Hults, Richard (Connie) Lubinsky, Susan (Marty) Kosobucki, David (Colleen) Lubinsky, Jeff (Susan) Lubinsky, Thomas (Meri) Lubinsky, Lori (Andrew) Erlandson; and 16 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Viola Zerell and Sharon Lubinsky; and a brother-in-law, Walter Lubinsky. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Richard G. Lubinsky and Donald R. Terpstra; a son, Gary W. Lubinsky; brothers, Donald and Leslie Forss; sister, Arlene Rinartz; sisters-in-law, Esther Lubinsky and Inice Forss; and brothers-in-law, August Zerell, Frank "Pug" Lubinsky and William Rinartz. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the NORTH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1327 N. Salem Road, La Crosse. The Rev. Scott Skogen will officiate. Family and friends may call the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the North Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice. The Dickinson Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. The family would life to thank the staff at Laurel Manor and Onalaska Care Center for the excellent care and concern given to Ellen.
Ellen was a loving mother and grandmother who brought love and laughter to her family and friends.

Tracy, Karen

REEDSBURG - Karen Tracy, age 59, of Reedsburg, died Sunday, July 27, 2008, at Reedsburg Area Medical Center. Karen was born Aug. 10, 1948, in Mauston, the daughter of James and Gertrude (Fletcher) Tracy. She worked for the federal government as an accountant and scheduler for the United States military for five years at the Pentagon, and then moved closer to home and for the next 27 years worked at Fort McCoy. After retirement she stayed busy working at Christmas Mountain near Wisconsin Dells. Karen had a keen interest in collecting American Indian relics, wolf artwork, porcelain dolls, music boxes and books. Karen is survived by a sister, Roberta Kwosek of Reedsburg; a brother, Robert Tracy of Baraboo; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the CONWAY-PICHA FUNERAL HOME in Lyndon Station with Father Arnold Reuter officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery of Lyndon Station. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 31, 2008, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. The Conway-Picha Funeral Home and Crematory of Lyndon Station assisted the family with arrangements.

Tylke, Candice Eileen

MADISON - Candice Eileen Tylke, peacefully passed away in Madison on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at age 42. She was born on Dec. 12, 1965, in Milwaukee, to Vincent Sr. and Cecile (nee Kaczmarski) Tylke. Candice graduated from West Milwaukee High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from UW-Oshkosh. She received an associate's degree and two certificates from MATC Madison, MATC Milwaukee, and Rockford Memorial Hospital, respectively. She was a firefighter/ paramedic for many years for the City of Beloit, and also worked as a flight paramedic with Wausau MedEvac. Candice enjoyed the outdoors, sailing, flying, landscaping and her loyal pets. She also loved to listen to music and cook. She was a longtime member of the International Association of Fire Fighters, and the International Association of Flight Paramedics. Candice is survived by her two brothers, Vincent Jr. (Annette) of New Berlin, and Gregory (Barbara) of Milwaukee; a close cousin, Mary Ellis of Racine; and a host of relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her best friend and soul mate, her sister Valerie; and her faithful border collies, Jazz and Sam. Candice's life influenced many and will be cherished always. All friends, relatives and colleagues are welcome to attend a Memorial Gathering at the Funeral Home on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 10 a.m. Memorial Celebration at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Candice's name to the Wisconsin Humane Society. MADISON - Robert Van Zante, age 65, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at the HospiceCare Center, after a year-long battle with Parkinson's disease and brain cancer. Funeral services will be held at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens, Madison. Weinbrenner, Ruth A.

DODGEVILLE - Ruth A. Weinbrenner, age 95, of Dodgeville, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2008, at Upland Hills Nursing and Rehab Center in Dodgeville. She was born on June 2, 1913, in North Lancaster Township, a daughter of Frank and Margaret (Boyle) Steil. She lived in Fennimore area and graduated from Fennimore High School and the teachers training course, also attending the Platteville State Teachers College. Ruth was a rural school teacher in the Boscobel and Fennimore communities for several years. She had a sincere interest in her students and was dedicated to her profession. She got her education by riding horseback. In 1940, she married Harley Weinbrenner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dodgeville. They farmed in the Bloomfield area for several years before purchasing their home in Dodgeville. Ruth worked at Wedlakes Variety Store, Elliot's Reminder Office and Corner Drug for several years, and also volunteered at Dodgeville Memorial Hospital in the gift shop. Ruth and her husband worked diligently to get the Dodgeville Senior Center organized and open for enjoyment of many people. Harley and Ruth loved to travel. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Harley on June 1, 1998, her parents; her sisters, Marie Powell and Irene Steinman; and her brother, Donald Steil. She is survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Father Paul Ugo Arinze will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of Mass on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Joseph's School Trust Fund.

Weis, Lois I.

STEVENS POINT - Lois "Lou" Weis, age 78, of Stevens Point, died on Friday, July 25, 2008. Lou and her husband of 58 years, the Rev. Jim Weis, served United Methodist Churches throughout Wisconsin for 40 years. Lou also enjoyed her work in the personnel department of Portage County and as a realtor. Lou was passionate about being a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, gardening, time at the cottage and lifelong learning. Lou is survived by her husband; and children, Vicky Weis (Ann Laursen), Dana James Weis (Debi), Loni Schilt (Ron) and Lauri Weis. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sarah, Katie, Sam, Rob, Sam, Emma, Madeline, Amy and Gracie; sisters, Eleanor Weiland, Avis Favour (Dick); brother, Harvey Fossen (Marge); and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at ST. PAUL'S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Stevens Point. Lou always cared about and fought for social justice. Go Barack! Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
