Grimes, Donna M. (Frauenkron)

STOUGHTON/ WAUTOMA - Donna M. (Frauenkron) Grimes, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at Berlin Memorial Hospital due to complications of pneumonia. Donna was born on Jan. 18, 1942. She worked at Stoughton Hospital for 21 years. Her hobbies were baking, sewing and gardening. She is survived by her husband, Neil; daughter, Cheryl Fulton; son, Mark; and two granddaughters, Heather and Cassy Jo. Funeral services are pending.

Harmeling, Ruth M.

MADISON - Ruth M. Harmeling, age 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, surrounded by her family while at HospiceCare. She was born on May 15, 1936, in Sheboygan, the daughter of Peter and Jeanette Otte. Ruth was a 1954 graduate of Cedar Grove High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Derwin "Dick" Harmeling, a year later on April 23, 1955. He preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2007. Ruth's pride and joy was her family. Times spent together will forever be remembered and cherished. She volunteered at her church and most recently enjoyed countless hours assisting as one of the managers of the Mercantile Gift Shop at Oakwood East. Ruth was always up for cards, board games, and most recently learning the challenges of bridge. Annual snowbird trips to Florida with Dick were filled with family and friends leaving many treasured memories. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Susan (Steven) Smithson of Sun Prairie, Sheryl (John) Bell of DeForest and Laurel (Daniel) Vanderlaan of Michigan; adored grandsons, Zachary, Justin, and Joshua; step-grandchildren, Andrea, and Andrew; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Betty) Otte of Cedar Grove. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, Richard Otte. Funeral services will be held at CROSSROADS CHURCH, 3815 Dutch Mill Road, Madison, on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Doug Van Essen presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to HospiceCare Inc. or Gilda's Club. The family wishes to thank the staff at HospiceCare, for their care and compassion they provided to Ruth.

Jackson-Tucker, Essie Mae

MADISON - Essie Mae Jackson-Tucker, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at noon at TRUE WORSHIPERS COMMUNITY CHURCH, 2924 Fish Hatchery Road, Fitchburg. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Kessenich, Carol J.

DANE/ WAUNAKEE - Carol J. Kessenich, age 53, of Dane/ Waunakee, died on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at her home surrounded by her family. The former Carol Nolden was born on Dec. 22, 1954, in Madison to Daniel and MaryEllen (Keller) Nolden. She married Roger Kessenich on July 3, 1976, and they resided in the Dane and Waunakee area. She was employed by Fahrenbach Studios in Waunakee for the past 18 years. Carol enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, embroidery and taking trips with Roger and their friends to various bed and breakfasts. Survivors include her husband, Roger; four children, Crystal (Thomas) Serres, Nicholas, Danny (friend, Stephanie Manley) and Michelle Kessenich (friend, Lawrence Hoye); two grandsons, Wesley Hoye and Braxton Kessenich-Oliver; her mother, MaryEllen Nolden; 13 brothers and sisters, Paul (Roberta) Nolden, Janice (Vaughn) Watzke, Larry (Janeen) Nolden, Audrey (Wayne) Parrell, Barbara (Sheldon) Zander, Mark (Monica) Nolden, Donna (Joe) Parrell, Duane (Denise) Nolden, Sharon (Ron) Hollfelder, Maureen (Todd) Duquette, Jerome Nolden, Dale (Becky) Nolden and Nadine (Paul) Vind; many nieces and nephews; and her in-laws, Romain (Jeanette) Kessenich, Annette (Dale) Ziegler, Rick (Linda) Kessenich and Randy (Nancy) Kessenich. Carol was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Nolden; and her mother-in-law, Arlene Kessenich. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC CHURCH, 209 South St., Waunakee. Monsignor James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the WINN-CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 5785 Highway Q, Waunakee. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at the Vienna cemetery.

Kilgore, Melvin

BARNEVELD - Melvin Kilgore, age 66, of Barneveld, died on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, after a long battle with cancer surrounded by his family at HospiceCare Inc. in Fitchburg. He married Jeanette Willis Arthur June 11, 1986. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at the BARNEVELD CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 104 Jones St., with Pastor Bob Sichta officiating. Kivlin, Larry

MADISON/ OREGON - Larry Kivlin, age 76, passed away on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on Oct. 20, 1932, in Oregon, the son of Edward and Irene (Gefke) Kivlin. Larry graduated from Oregon High School in 1950. He was employed at Oregon Truck Line for 34 years, delivering U.S. Government surplus food to schools and institutions. In 1984, Larry began his own business, Kivlin Livestock, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed bowling with a passion and belonged to several Madison leagues. Larry participated in the annual Peterson Classic Tournament 34 times. He was a fan of UW football and basketball, the Packers and many high school sports. Larry also enjoyed cards, casino gambling and yard work, in that order. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy; a sister, Jackie Roos of Scottsdale, Ariz.; brother-in-law, John (Arlene) Baraniak; and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Fred; sisters, Marjorie Rocca, Lorraine Kylen, Eileen Clark, Ramona Warren, Virginia Griffith and Marilyn Gannon; sisters-in-law, Marge Baraniak and Carol Baraniak; and brothers-in-law, Robert Baraniak and Richard Baraniak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, with Father Bill Connell presiding. Burial will be at St. Mary's cemetery, Oregon. Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Mother of Consolation Church Remodeling Fund or Salvation Army. A special thanks to the entire staff at Meriter Hospital, especially the ICU.

Lerch, Darlene M.

ARLINGTON - Darlene M. Lerch, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008. She was born on Feb. 2, 1931, in the town of Leeds, the daughter of the late Herbert and Julia (Noltemeyer) Schultz. Darlene was a teacher's aide at the Arlington Grade School for almost 30 years. On Oct. 10, 1953, she was united in marriage to Harold Lerch. Darlene is survived by her husband, Harold; a daughter, Becky (Joe) Santowski; her brothers and sister, Charlie (Pat) Schultz, Valeria (Bob) Gundlach and Herb (Gayno) Schultz; a sister-in-law, Arlette Schultz; a brother-in-law, Bill Hahn; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donovan and Wilmer Schultz; and a sister, Evelyn Hahn. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at ST. PETER'S LUTHERAN CHURCH in Arlington, with the Rev. Marion Hendrickson officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at the HAMRE FUNERAL HOME in Lodi, and from noon until the service on Saturday at the church.

Mattison, F. Kay

STOUGHTON - Our extraordinary mother, wife, grandmother and friend, F. Kay Mattison, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, in her home in Stoughton, cared for by her family. She is survived by Michael Mattison, her husband of 41 years; her son, Charles (Kathy nee Asleson) Mattison; her daughter, Sarah (Mickey) Mattison Buhl; her grandchildren, Samuel, Chloe and Robinson; and her brother, Charles (Marsha) Schaeffer. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Schaeffer; and her granddaughter, Annie Buhl. A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the F. Kay Mattison Madrigal Fund, in care of the Stoughton Area School District, 320 North St., Stoughton, WI 53589. McCosh, David D.

MADISON - David D. McCosh, age 66, passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at his residence. He was born June 15, 1942, in Canyon City, Colo., to Robert and Betty (Dryden) McCosh. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving four years. He attended Colorado State University before attending graduate school at Marquette University. He purchased and operated Glenway Bike Shop in Madison, before working for the Dept. of Transportation for the past 24 years. David will be fondly remembered for his love of photography, music, reading and writing, traveling, camping, biking, and his love of family and friends. David is survived by his children, Joan Elizabeth (Timothy) Dziewior of Madison, and David Bruce McCosh of Verona; a brother, Patrick (Nina) McCosh of Fort Collins, Colo.; a sister, Melissa (Steve) Cook of Santa Barbara, Calif.; three grandchildren, Timothy and Kaitlyn McCosh at home in Verona, and Thomas Pfaff-Dziewior at home in Madison; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents; and a brother, Michael McCosh. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established in memory of David.
