Wayne K. Anderson
Wayne K. Anderson, 69, Green Bay, died Saturday, July 26, 2003 at his home. He was born on Nov. 10, 1933 in Green Bay to the late J. Howard and Myrtle (Bunker) Anderson. Wayne moved to Los Angeles with his parents in 1949 and graduated from Franklin High School in L.A. in 1952. In 1955, he returned to Green Bay and married the former Donna Karman on Feb. 24, 1962 at West Side Moravian Church. He joined the Green Bay Fire Dept. on June 11, 1963, where he retired as a captain, Jan. 1, 1990, and was a member of the Retired Professional Fire Fighters Association.

Wayne was an active member of West Side Moravian Church, and dedicated many hours to the Ashwaubenon Moravian Cemetery. He was an avid AAA softball player, pitching for Wally Lom's Bar and other Green Bay teams. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, but especially spending time up north at Crivitz and Fence.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Donna; one son, David Anderson, Berlin, and his special friend, Dawn Krebs, David's children, Krista, Meghan and Alyssa; one daughter, Sally Camiro, Green Bay, and her special friend, Arturo Morales, Sally's children: Andrew, Juan, Jr., and Bianca; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Cyril "Bud" Anderson, Los Angeles, and Emmett and Bette Anderson, De Pere; and Virginia Anderson, Green Bay; one niece, Carole (Jerry) Pigeon and her family; one nephew, Jim (Karin) Anderson, and his family; a brother-in-law, Guy Karman and his family; a sister-in-law: Shirley Karman and her family; and many relatives and friends, especially Dick Cheslock.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald, Vernon "Hunk", Russell and Eugene; a sister-in-law, Martha Anderson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Al and Ellie Karman; and a brother-in-law, Barry Karman

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lyndahl Funeral Home, Lombardi Avenue at Ridge Road. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. Wednesday at West Side Moravian Church, 1707 S. Oneida St., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Beth Macha officiating. Interment will take place in Ashwaubenon Moravian Cemetery.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial has been established. The family would like to thank Drs. Richard Potts and John Rank, the staff of Apria Health Care, especially Roger, and the staff of Unity Hospice, especially Sharon, for all of their care and concern.

Mrs. James (Barbara) Berner
Mrs. James (Barbara) Berner, 48, De Pere, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 21, 2003, from injuries incurred in a traffic accident in Plankinton, S.D. The daughter of Marian (Laundrie) Denis and the late Francis Denis was born May 21, 1955, in Green Bay. Barbara attended St. Norbert College and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy. She married James Berner on Oct. 27, 1979, at Old St. Joseph Catholic Church on the St. Norbert College campus. James also passed away on Monday from the same accident.

Mrs. Berner practiced pharmacy at the National Poison Control in Denver, Colo. She then worked as a pharmacist on staff at St. Vincent Hospital for several years in Green Bay. Most recently, she volunteered her services at Aurora BayCare Medical Center. Mrs. Berner served in the capacity of co-buyer for the hospital gift shop. Along with her mother and sister, she knitted items for newborns at the hospital. She was a member of the Brown County Pharmacy Society, the Pharmacy Society of Wisc. and the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists.

She was a longtime associate member of the Service League of Brown County. Jim and Barb gave willingly and freely of their time and talents. They were active members of the Notre Dame Academy Parents Club service as board members, the Notre Dame Academy Parents Band-Aide Club, The Jackson Hole Land Trust and the Green Bay Country Club.

Barb thoroughly enjoyed spinning, weaving and craft making. She was a member of Traveling Treadlers, a fiber-arts guild. She treasured time with her family spent exploring the Teton Mountain Range including downhill skiing and Snake River floating.

Survivors include one son, Eric, one daughter, Heidi, her mother, Marian Denis, one sister and brother-in-law, Larry and Carol LaCombe, and one brother, David Denis and special friend Pay Wilson. Brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Gene and Carol Knuth and Gerald and Chris Berner also survive her. She is further survived by nieces and nephews; Alison LaCombe, Elizabeth LaCombe, Mark Denis, Kevin Denis, Kirsten Denis, Amy (Eugene) Zdanovec, Michael (Lori) Knuth, Sara (Matthew) Herrscher, Patrick (Amy) Knuth, Matthew Knuth, Christopher Knuth, Cynthia (Kim) Lasecki, Mark (Teresa) Berner, Brian (Kimberly) Berner and Anne Berner.

Her father, Francis Denis, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Grace Berner preceded her in death.

Friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Community on Pope John XXII Circle off Sportsman Road, De Pere, from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. Thursday at church until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. John H. Harper officiating. RYAN FUNERAL HOME, De Pere is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the various South Dakota emergency personnel in attendance at the accident scene.

Dr. James M. Berner
Dr. James M. Berner, 48, De Pere, died unexpectedly in a traffic accident on Monday, July 21, 2003 in Plankinton, S.D. The son of the late Lawrence and Grace (Benzine) Berner was born Feb. 8, 1955 in Green Bay. Dr. Berner was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of St. Norbert College and the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. On October 27, 1979, he married the former Barbara Denis at Old St. Joseph Catholic Church on the St. Norbert College campus. Barbara also passed away on Monday from injuries sustained in the same accident.

Dr. Berner completed his residency and served as chief resident at Denver General Hospital in Denver, Colo. Upon return to Green Bay, Dr. Berner was associated with the Emergency Department of St. Vincen and St. Mary's Hospitals. He served in the capacity of Medical Director at St. Vincent Emergency Department for numerous years. Dr. Berner most recently held the role of Emergency Room Director as well as a Chief of Staff at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. He was currently a board member of Emergency Physicians Limited and member of BayCare Clinic. He served on staff at numerous hospitals including Door County Memorial, Bay Area Medical Center, St. Mary's in Kewaunee, Aurora Medical Center-Two Rivers and St. John's in Jackson, Wyo. He had also served as Medical Director of Brown County EMS Council. Dr. Berner was a member of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Physicians Advisory Committee to WI EMS Board, the Brown County Medical Society, the WI State Medical Society, the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the American Medical Association. Dr. Berner was a longtime volunteer, board member and Medical Director of the NEW Community Clinic. Jim and Barb gave willingly and freely of their time and talents. They were active members of the Notre Dame Academy Parents Club serving as board members, Notre Dame Academy Parents Band-Aid Club, The Jackson Hole Land Trust and the Green Bay Country Club.

Jim enjoyed fly-fishing and hunting. He loved the Green Bay Packers. He was also a member of Trout Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited. He cherished time spent with his family in the Teton Mountains of Jackson, Wyo., where they enjoyed Snake River floating, catch and release fly-fishing and downhill skiing.

Survivors include one son, Eric; one daughter, Heidi; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Gene Knuth; and one brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Christine Berner. His mother-in-law, Marian Denis, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Carol LaCombe, and brother-in-law, David Denis and special friend Pam Wilson survive him. He is further survived by nieces and nephews; Amy (Eugene) Zdanovec, Michael (Lori) Knuth, Sara (Matthew) Herrscher, Patrick (Amy) Knuth, Matthew Knuth, Christopher Knuth, Cynthia (Kim) Lasecki, Mark (Teresa) Berner, Brian (Kimberly) Berner, Anne Berner, Alison LaCombe, Elizabeth LaCombe, Mark Denis, Kevin Denis, and Kirsten Denis.

His parents and his father-in-law, Francis Denis, preceded him in death. Hilda E. Mueller, 91, Seymour. Visitation after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John United Church of Christ, Black Creek, until funeral at 11 a.m. Survivors include a daughter, Donna (Roger) Rupp, Green Bay, a granddaughter and two great grandsons. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family.

Geraldine F. "Gerry" Singleton
Geraldine F. "Gerry" Singleton, 72, De Pere. Visitation after 2 p.m. today at First Congregational Church United Church of Christ, De Pere, until funeral at 2:30 p.m. Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis (David) Meyer, De Pere, a brother, Norman Reinhardt, Florida; a sister, Elaine Ferris, New York, and two grandsons. Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the family.

Donald John Zehms
Donald John Zehms, 80, Green Bay. Private funeral. Survivors include his wife, Marysue; four children, Dale (Diane) Zehms, Bothel, Wash., Todd (Trish) Zehms and Lynn (Jon) Lovien, all of Green Bay, Leanne (Gary) Miller, Bothel, Wash.; a brother, John (Norma) Zehms, California; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Patricia (Pat) Harris, 73, Green Bay. Private services held at Malcore Funeral Home. Survivors include three children, Mike (Valentina) Harris, Delray Beach, Fla., Jeff Harris, Green Bay and Pam Harris, Delray Beach, Fla; a brother, Jim (Dorothy) Hecht, Austin, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Minerva E. (Cook) Krutz, 94, Suamico. Visitation 4-7 p.m. today at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home West, 1145 Cardinal Lane. Funeral 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 13209 Velp Ave., Suamico.
