Survivors include his parents, Jeremie and Amy Johnson, Little Suamico; maternal grandparents, Mike and Ginny Steier, Green Bay; paternal grandparents, Diana (Gary) Tyykila, Brule, Eric (Janet) Johnson, Port Wing; maternal great-grandparents, John and Dorothy Heezen, Acof and Leta Steier, all of Green Bay; paternal great-grandparents, Ailie Johnson, Iron River, Linnea Johnson, Port Wing; paternal great-great-grandmother, Martha Koski, Superior.

Ruth (Mrs. Thomas) O'Brien
Mrs. Thomas (Ruth) O'Brien, 86, a lifelong Green Bay area resident, died Monday, June 9, 2003. She was born March 11, 1917, in Duck Creek to John and Louise (Gegare) Rodaer. On August 4, 1940, she married Thomas O'Brien in Iowa. Ruth had been employed by Larsen Canning, later Green Bay Foods, St. Vincent Hospital and Premontre High School before her retirement. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Parish.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas; two children and their spouses, David and Janice O'Brien, and Carol and Richard Pleshek; four grandchildren, Kelly Katers, Brian Pleshek, Thomas (Wendy) O'Brien and Suzanne (Trenton) Czarapata; six great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Kelsey, Curtis, Jonathan, Sarah and Jack; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Mary O'Brien; one grandson, Kevin O'Brien; and two sisters, Valaria Dickinson and Jane Jelinski. Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Sister Toni Jendrasiak, S.S.N.D., officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.

Anna A. (Mrs. Felix) Rank
Anna A. (Mrs. Felix) Rank, 90, New Franken, died Monday afternoon, June 9, 2003, at a Green Bay nursing home. She was born on February 18, 1913, to the late Fabian and Anna (Hoffman) Junion in Thiry Daems. On September 25, 1940, Anna married Felix Rank at St. Odile Church, Thiry Daems. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1994.

Anna enjoyed gardening, making Belgian pies and bread, and loved her farm in New Franken.

Survivors include her children, Sandra (Bob) Bertrand, Roger (Barbara) Rank, all of New Franken; her grandchildren, Paul (Lori) Bertrand, Amy Bertrand and her special friend Randy Buhr, Angela Bertrand, Doug (Peggy) Rank, Tom (Beth Hanes) Rank, Debbie (Matt) Williquette; four great-grandchildren, Alycia, Danielle and Brooke Bertrand and Alayna Rank; one sister, Evelyn DeGrave, Luxemburg; one sister-in-law, Blanche Junion, Thiry Daems.

Anna was preceded in death by one grandson, Patrick Bertrand; five brothers and two sisters-in-law, Clarence (Alice) Junion, Arthur Junion, Ben (Esther) Junion, Raymond Junion and Fabion Junion; one brother-in-law, Alvin DeGrave.

Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 3 to 8 p.m. today. Visitation continues between 9:15 and 10:15 a.m. Thursday at St. Kilian Church, New Franken. Prayer service 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Dean Dombroski officiating. Burial in St. Kilian Cemetery, New Franken.

Mary A. Broekman
Mary A. Broekman, 45, Green Bay, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Bellin Memorial Hospital after a short courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Mary was born July 5, 1957, in Green Bay to Willard and Bonnie (Johnson) Verstoppen. On February 26, 1977, she married her high school sweetheart, Patrick Broekman, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Green Bay. Mary loved working for the Thornes at A&A Appraisals with her best friend, Vicki. Mary loved taking care of and spending time with her family and friends, going up north, gardening, fishing, cooking, playing cribbage and watching her sons play sports. Mary was always there when you needed her. She always put her family and friends ahead of anything else.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Pat; her two sons, Joe and his friend Cristy, Steve and his wife Jessica; her parents, Willard and Bonnie Verstoppen; her eight brothers and sisters, Marvin, Larry, Gene, Karen, Sharon and her husband Joe, Mark, John and his wife Sue, Dean and his wife Tammy; her mother-in-law, Patricia Broekman; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Debbie, Kim and Russ, Zeke and his wife Joan, Mike and his wife Sandy; many nieces, nephews and her granddogs, Tyson and Gerti. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Joseph (Josie) Broekman; a sister, Carol Verstoppen; and Grandma and Grandpa, Margaret and August Johnson.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Msgr. Brian Coleman officiating. The family would like to thank the 2nd floor staff of Bellin Hospital, especially her nurse Carol. Also a special thanks to her very best friend Vicki Rifleman for being there from the beginning to the end.A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Agnes Dufeck
Agnes (nee Hallada) Dufeck, Denmark, died Monday, June 9, 2003, at the age of 91. She was born March 9, 1912, in Two Creeks, Wis., daughter to the late Joseph and Antonia (Ebel) Hallada. She was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers, and Badger College of Cosmetology, Milwaukee. On Aug. 16, 1948, she married the late Raymond Dufeck at St. Francis Church, Francis Creek, Wis. She was an employee of or managed beauty salons in Two Rivers, Shawano and Racine before opening her own hair and beauty business in Denmark, Wis., in 1940. She was a member of All Saints Parish Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, and Third Order of St. Francis. Survivors include two sons, Mark (Dona) Dufeck, and their daughter, Sara, Sturgeon Bay, Wis., and David of Denmark; and one brother-in-law, Albert (Lorraine) Dufeck. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Helen Buege; and brothers, Frank, Ed, Greg and Bernard Hallada. Supporting relatives and special friends include, Lorraine and Al Dufeck, Paul Dufeck, Charmaine Holzinger, Kathy Dworak, Nancy Malewiski, Ruth Pahnke and many others.

Visitation will be held on June 11, 2003, at All Saints Catholic Church, 145 St. Claude St., Denmark, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. A Celebration of Agnes' life with a Mass of Christian Burial follows the visitation. Fr. Ron Colombo, All Saints Parish, officiates with burial in the church cemetery. Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, Denmark, is handling arrangements. The family wishes to acknowledge the supporting relatives and special friends, Father Ron, the medical attention of Bellin Health, Denmark, and the 7th floor staff of St. Vincent Hospital.

Tessie Lottie Netupski
Tessie Lottie Netupski, 81, Athens, Ga., formerly Green Bay. Visitation 4-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at West Mason Malcore Funeral Home, 1530 W. Mason St. Funeral service 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Survivors include three sons, David (Debbie) Netupski, Green Bay, Daniel Netupski, Athens, Ga., Raymond Netupski, Des Plaines, Ill.; three daughters, Mary Ann (William) Mann, Rome, Joann (Larry) Piontek, De Pere, Debbie (David) Smith, Athens, Ga.; one brother, Edward Jakubowski, Athens, Ga; one sister, Jean Opitz, Chicago; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Anna A. Rank (Mrs. Felix), 90, New Franken, died Monday afternoon, June 9, 2003 at a Green Bay nursing home. Funeral arrangements are pending; McMahon Funeral Home, Luxemburg, is assisting the family.

Patrick Lee Smet
Patrick Lee Smet, 46, Green Bay. Visitation 4-9 p.m. today at Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Survivors include one daughter, Crissy Smet, Neenah; one son, Ryan (Puschen) Smet, Green Bay; four brothers, Gordon (Pat) Smet, Green Bay, Gene Smet, Shawano, Lyndon Smet, Green Bay, David (Sheila) Smet, Amberg; four sisters, Kathy (Chris) Campbell, Chilton, Missy (Richard) Hilliker, Arizona, Karlene (Al) Richert, Green Bay, Connie Hetrick, California; nine grandchildren.

John "Jack" Andrew Sarns
John "Jack" Andrew Sarns, 85, Green Bay, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at a local nursing home. He was born January 18, 1918, to the late Verner and Emma (Cook) Sarns in Mount Clemens, Michigan. On September 6, 1939, he married the former Mary Etta Horn. John was a salesman all his working life. Beginning with selling packets of seeds as a teenager, he continued with his own business in typewriter repairs and sales in Sault Ste. Marie. He sold typewriters and business machines for many years. He then went into selling roofing materials through Tyfany Company. As a veteran of World War II, John was an active member of the Sault Ste. Marie American Legion in the 1940s and Master of Ceremonies of many American Legion events. He also enjoyed membership in the Green Bay Downtown Optimist Club for many years. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, sail boating and horseback riding.

He is survived by Mary, his wife of 63 years; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Jackie Sarns, Green Bay, Jim and Mary Ellen Sarns, Naperville, Illinois, Gary and Ellen Sarns, Suamico; one daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Robert Gerdes, Green Bay; seven grandchildren, Chris, Beth, Anne, Kathy, Jon, Gregg and Molly; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Kay Sarns, Morley, Michigan, George and Paulette Sarns, Interlochen, Michigan; Mrs. Alex (Helen) Sarns, Morley, Michigan; and one sister, Gertrude Yates, Bainbridge Island, Washington. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex and Bill; and one sister, Thelma.

Friends may call on Wednesday after 10 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., where the funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. James Hablewitz officiating. Lyndahl Funeral Home is serving the family.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Western Village Nursing Home for the care and compassion that was given.

Survivors include his parents, Stacey Ann Lampereur and Eric Edward Farah; his sister, Autumn; maternal grandparents, Mary Cardin, Brad and Peggy Lampereur; paternal grandparents, Ed and Diane Farah; great-grandmothers, Julia Farah and Marge Levendusky.

Mabel Jansen
Mabel Jansen, 96, Green Bay. A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. June 16 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, Lombardi Avenue at Ridge Road. Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Mel and Vi Marrick, De Pere, and many nieces and nephews.

Carl J. Joppe
Carl J. Joppe, 83, Green Bay, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, June 8, 2003, at a local hospital following a brief illness. Born in Green Bay on January 8, 1920, he is the son of the late August and Ella (Marquardt) Joppe. Carl served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from November 11, 1941, to November 12, 1945. On February 4, 1946, he married the former Laverne Vandenbosch at SS. Peter & Paul Church. Carl worked for his father-in-law Alfred Vandenbosch at Van's Printing. Later he was the co-owner of the print shop until his retirement in 1978. Carl greatly enjoyed playing softball, golfing, bowling and horseshoes. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and going dancing with his wife, Laverne. Carl was a lifelong member of SS. Peter & Paul Parish.

Survived by his wife of 57 years, Laverne; one daughter and son-in-law, Sally (Kevin) Brick of Green Bay; two brothers, Fritz (Clara) Joppe and Robert (Peggy) Joppe, both of Green Bay; nieces and nephews, Mark (Linda) Joppe, Matt (Sue) Joppe, and Ann Joppe, all of Green Bay, Jeanne Joppe of Texas.

Preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Joppe. Private funeral services were held with MALCORE Funeral Home, 432-5579, in charge of arrangements. Burial in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.

Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Vincent Hospital Emergency and 9th floor and Green Bay Oncology.

Kenneth F. Wilson Sr.
Kenneth F. Wilson Sr., 73, Green Bay, died Thursday evening, June 5, 2003, at a local hospital. Born in Green Bay on August 29, 1929, he is the son of the late Harold and Josephine (Delfosse) Wilson. Ken served in the U.S. Army and married the former Marie Thelen in 1951 in Green Bay. He worked for the Wisconsin Public Service for 38 years. Ken was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the VFW. He was an avid Packer fan, and he appeared in the Hall of Fame movie of the Ice Bowl. Ken also enjoyed doing volunteer work for the American Cancer Society, was a bell ringer for the Salvation army, and liked playing bingo and slots.

Survived by four children, Debbie (Steven) Wiertz of Chicago, Ken (Nancy) Wilson Jr., Larry Wilson, Jeff Wilson, all of Fond du Lac; eight grandchildren, Michelle, Nicole, Jenny, Joey, David, Sarah, Brian and Kevin; one great-granddaughter, Kyra Blue; two sisters, Dawn (Donna) Smith and Carol (Joyce) Champeau, both of Green Bay; one sister-in-law, Janice Wilson of Fond du Lac; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Herb Wilson; one sister, Patsy Wilson.

Visitation at MALCORE Funeral Home, University Avenue at Baird Street, from 4-8 p.m. Monday. Tuesday visitation will continue at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 South Madison St., from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the funeral services. Funeral services 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Lange officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

Special thanks to special friends Emerey and Joanne, Dr. Christopher Pinn, the pastors of Grace Lutheran Church and Mary, Marge, Roberta and the entire staff of 9th floor St. Vincent Hospital.
