Richard A. Janssen
Richard A. "Duke" Janssen, 72, of De Pere, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, June 1, 2003. The son of the late Alphonse and Verna (Gussert) Janssen was born August 22, 1930, in Detroit. He attended Nicolet High School in De Pere. On February 3, 1951, he married the former Patricia A. Echtner at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. Duke was employed for many years at Milprint Inc. as a department supervisor until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed his sports of hunting, fishing, golf and spending time with his family at his cottage on Underwood Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; five children and their spouses, Michael (Mary) Janssen, Wrightstown, David (Mary) Janssen, Suamico, Lynn (Jamison) Bartlett, Fulton, N.Y., Gary (Mary) Janssen, De Pere, Lori (Ron) Jaeger, De Pere; his 10 grandchildren, Lisa, Sara and Thomas Janssen, David (Michelle) Janssen, John (Holly) Janssen, and Jessica (Tony) Mossakowski, Nicholas and Lindsay Janssen, Kaylee and Jacob Jaeger; two great-grandchildren, Braeden Janssen and Joseph Mossakowski. He is also survived by his step-father, Jess Ranvick, De Pere; brother-in-law, Thomas (Joan) Echtner, Glendale, Wis., and their three children, Christine, Mark, and Theresa; three stepgrandchildren, Marnie, Donald, and Jamison Bartlett, Fulton, N.Y., and their five children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Thomas Janssen; one grandchild, Eric Richard Janssen; parents-in-law, John and Margaret Echtner; and godchild, Tony Gussert.

Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, (920) 336-3171, from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Old St. Joseph Catholic Church on St. Norbert College Campus. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. John Kastenholtz, O.Praem, officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Greenleaf.

Survivors include his wife, Clarice; four children, Marsha (Forrest) Zink, De Pere, Jolene Konshak, Green Bay, Daniel Konshak, Paul (Lisa) Konshak, DePere; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Konshak, James Konshak.

Harlow J. McGown
Harlow J. McGown, 78, town of Chase, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 1, 2003, at his home. He was born December 29, 1924, in Plover, Wis., to the late Levi and Nellie (Langton) McGown. Harlow served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On October 9, 1948, he was united in marriage to Marie Krutza in Stevens Point. Together they have enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Harlow was employed by Nigbor Furs in Stevens Point, Briar's Clothing in Green Bay and retired from Medalcraft Mint in 1999. He was an avid gardener. Harlow was a member of St. John Cantius Parish. Survivors include his wife, Marie; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Barbara McGown, Mosinee; two daughters and a son-in-law, Judy Rucinski, Pulaski, Susan and John Schmidt, Oneida; eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Joshua and Justin McGown, Matthew and Janelle Schmidt, Ken (Kari) Fruzen, Kristin and Lance Rucinski; three great-grandchildren, Kordell and Keagan Fruzen, Ryleigh Rucinski; a brother, Leslie McGown, Green Bay; a sister and brother-in-law, Beulah and Clarence Dickenshied, Green Bay; a brother-in-law, Richard (Sandi) Krutza, Stevens Point; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bernard; and a sister, Hazel.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. today. There will be a Parish Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. today. Friends may also call at St. John Cantius Catholic Church, 6051 Noble St., Sobieski, from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Father Gerald Prusakowski O.F.M. officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

The McGown family would like to thank Dr. John Andrews and Dr. Richard Greene and his nurse, Arlene, for their care and support.

Agnes M. Rank
Agnes M. Rank, 87, of Luxemburg, died peacefully, late Sunday evening at Bornemanns Nursing Home, Green Bay. She was born July 18, 1915, in Luxemburg to the late George and Barbara (Beirl) Dorner. On September 26, 1934, Agnes married Peter Rank at St. Mary's Church, Luxemburg. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1991. Together they farmed in Luxemburg until retirement. Agnes was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of St. Mary's Church, Luxemburg, and a member of the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters. Her enjoyments included playing sheep's-head, crafts and scrap-booking.

Survivors include five children, Arvilla Rank, College Park, Md., Merrill (Susan) Rank, Luxemburg, Shirley (Merlin) Vanden Plas, Humboldt, Janet (James) Van Pay, New Franken, Sandra (Jeffrey) Ulrich, Sturgeon Bay; 14 grandchildren, Steve (Terry) Vanden Plas, Randy (Cindy) Vanden Plas, Roxie (Terry) Jorgensen, Kevin (Sherry) Van Pay, Mike (Debbie) Van Pay, Joe (Tammy) Van Pay, Tim (Cindy) Van Pay, Julie (Jon) Zirbel, Paul (Ann) Rank, Dennis Rank and Jennifer, Sarah (Jon) Romdenne, Karen (Kevin) Tassoul, Erica LaLuzerne and Jeremy, Alan LaLuzerne; 21 great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Laura Kirby, Reno, Nev., Caroline Burkart, Green Bay, Anna Marie (Norbert) Finnel, Denmark; three sisters-in-law, Julia Dorner, Elaine Dorner, both of Luxemburg, Louise Dorner, Green Bay.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister-in-law, George Dorner, Donald Dorner, Leo Dorner, Phillip (Esther) Dorner, Raymond Dorner; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary (George) Perkins, Anna Dorner, Frances Dorner, Regina Kunesh, Henry Burkart and Tom Kirby.

Friends may call at the McMahon Funeral Home, Luxemburg, 4 to 8 p.m. today. Visitation continues between 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Luxemburg. Prayer service 6:30 p.m. today. Funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Luxemburg.

Survivors include one daughter, Sue (Bill) Wallingford, Neenah; two granddaughters; one sister, Phoebe Williams, Green Bay; three sisters-in-law, Toni Reynen, Evanston, Ill., Bernice Johnson, Green Bay, Rose Corsten, Green Bay.

Mrs. Edward (Esther Catherine Mason) Adler
Mrs. Edward (Esther Catherine Mason) Adler, 89, Mill Center, died Thursday May 29, 2003, at a local hospital. She was born May 19, 1914, in Green Bay to Bertram and Melvina (Calkins) Mason. On Sept. 22, 1934, she married Edward Adler. Esther was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Women's Society. She had been a 4-H leader while living in Anston and was a member of the Anston Mother's Club. Esther was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family first.

Survivors include her husband, Edward; three children and their spouses, Donald (Sandy) Adler, Mill Center, Wayne (Judi) Adler, Atlanta, Georgia, Kathy (Dan) Butterfield, Charlotte, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn James, Pulaski; a brother and sister-in-law, Bertram (Evelyn) Mason, Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Ethelyn Mason, Green Bay; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Mervin Mason.

Friends may call at St. Paul's United Methodist, 341 Wilson Ave., from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. The Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Ray Kotwicki and Rev. Don Behrendt officiating. Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., is assisting the family. Burial will be in Mill Center Cemetery.

The Adler family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff of the Cardiac Care Unit at Bellin Hospital for their care of Esther during her illness. A memorial fund has been established in her name to benefit St. Paul's United Methodist Church and Peace Lutheran Church.
