Don Propson
Don Propson, 63, was with his wife, Nancy A. Kaster, and others who loved and cared for him, when he died on March 29, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. Don fought with determination and without complaint for 3 1/2 years, first with bone marrow cancer and then with lymphoma.

Don was born on Jan. 24, 1941 to Helen (Goeser) Propson and the late Al Propson in Fond du Lac, Wis. He married Nancy A. Kaster on July 15, 1989, and they shared 15 wonderful years of married life together. Don attended Hilbert High School, graduating in 1959. After graduation he was employed by Wickes Lumber in Forest Junction, prior to enlisting in the Air Force where he served from 1962 to 1966 as Communications Specialist in the Philippines. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Don returned to employment at Wickes Lumber Yard in Green Bay for a period of time prior to becoming employed as a salesman for Hoida Lumber. Don spent many years with Hoida and, along the way, met hundreds of people who all benefitted from his honest, practical spirit and quick wit. Don retired from Hoida on July 3, 1997 to focus on the true loves of his life, his family, dear friends and the outdoors.

Don was an avid hunter and fisherman and he spent many cherished times in pursuit of his next big trophy. Don took frequent trips with close friends "out west" to spend time in the mountains, where he found his greatest peace. Don treasured his time spent on Lake Michigan and Lake Winnebago. He also enjoyed golf, spending time at Berry Lake, hiking in the woods, his involvement with thoroughbred breeding and racing, and sharing his morning coffee with good friends. Perhaps his greatest sadness when facing the challenge of his illness came from his intense desire to share himself and his interests with his three grandsons, and the knowledge that this would not come to be.

Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Nancy A. Kaster; his three daughters, Wendy Nysted and her husband Mark; Trudy Propson; Jenny Morrow and her husband, Jon; three grandsons, Dylan Nysted, Logan Morrow and Mason Morrow; his mother, Helen Propson; his stepmother, Jeanette Propson; brothers and sisters, Joan & Jim Thiel, Robert & Ellen Propson, Jim & Sandy Propson, Dave Propson, Mary & Rick Fletcher; his mother-in-law, Mildred Kaster, Wendy & Trudy's mom, Ann Propson; brothers-in-law Martin Jay Kaster and his wife Debbie, Richard S. Kaster and his wife Nancy R.; two sisters-in-law, Sr. Marsaia Kaster and Nancy M. Kaster; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Al Propson and his father-in-law Martin S. Kaster.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home & Crematory, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4 to 8 p.m. (TODAY) Wednesday. VFW Memorial Service 6:30 p.m. TODAY.
