Verna M. LeFevre (Mrs. Raymond), 71, Lincoln. Visitation after 10 a.m. today at St. Peters Church, Lincoln. Funeral service 11 a.m. today at the church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ken (Jill) LeFevre, Rio Creek, Kevin (Jean) LeFevre, Lincoln; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters. Wake service 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Survivors include his wife, Marianne; three daughters, Denise (Ken) Ristow, Sheboygan, Maureen (Craig) Harmeling, Eagle River, Marcey (David) Radwanski, Spring Grove, Ill.; five grandchildren.

Marie Stankevitz
Marie Stankevitz, 91, Green Bay resident, died Wednesday morning February 9, 2005, at a local hospital. She was born June 22, 1913 in the town of Eaton to the late Anton and Frances (Bruzynski) Charneski. Marie married Emil Oshefsky in 1931. They had two children, Norman and Darlene. In 1952 she married Dennis Stankevitz. He preceded her in death in 1988. Marie was employed at the Green Bay Food Company until her retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Norman (Carol) Oshefsky Sr., Algoma; one son-in-law, Ronald Blohowiak, Cato; seven grandchildren, Quin (Linda) Oshefsky, Norm (Joan) Oshefsky, Cathy Oshefsky, Kim Gehrke, Laurie (Jim) Landwehr, Bev (Dave) Seidl, Ron (Kathy) Blohowiak; 15 great-grandchildren; her beloved pet Scruffy Rose. She was preceded in death by her daughter Darlene Blohowiak, four sisters and seven brothers.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home & Crematory, 1630 E. Mason St. after 9:30 a.m. Friday until time of service. Funeral service 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Sr. Toni Jendrasiak officiating. Burial in Fort Howard Memorial Park. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com/obit.

Bernard E. 'Bernie' Van Den Plas
Bernard E. "Bernie" Van Den Plas, 53, Humboldt, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, February 8, 2005. He was born April 5, 1951, in Green Bay to the late Arthur and Florence (Jadin) Van Den Plas. He married Doloris R. Treml on November 26, 1970, at St. Mary's Church, Luxemburg.

Bernie owned and operated the Van Den Plas homestead farm his entire life, now known as Sugar Bush Dairy. For over 30 years he operated Van Den Plas Trucking, hauling milk for numerous farmers, while employed with Dairy Land Farms, New Franken. He was a member of St. Thomas Church, Sugar Bush. Bernie was a very dedicated man, both in his work and to his family. He enjoyed fishing and spending precious time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Doloris; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jody and Heidi Van Den Plas, Humboldt, Jamie Van Den Plas, Green Bay; four grandchildren, Tyler, Rachel, Brandon and Jacob; one brother and one sister-in-law, Hubert and Doris Van Den Plas, Maribel; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Ann and Dennis Zellner, Luxemburg, Marlene and Richard Dorner, Green Bay; nine brothers-in-law and nine sisters-in-law, Vern and Maynard Walecka, Kewaunee, Harold and Carol Treml, Luxemburg, Rosie and Allan Dahlke, Ellisville, Len and Mary Lou Treml, Jerry and Marlene Treml, Myron and Petrine Treml, Linus and Mary Treml, Jerome and Lorie Treml, all of Luxemburg, James and Jackie Treml, New Franken; many nieces and nephews.

Bernie was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alois and Rita Treml.

Friends may call at McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 3 to 8 p.m. Friday. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. Saturday at St Thomas Church, Sugar Bush. Parish Prayer Service 7 p.m. Friday led by Sally Reynen, Pastoral Minister. Funeral at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the church with Rev. Dean Dombroski officiating. Entombment in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

The Van Den Plas family wishes to thank the Brown County Rescue Squad, Aurora Bay Care Medical Staff, and Rev. Dean Dombroski, for special care and concern offered at this time.

Edna Rusch Kelly

Eleanor M. Popkey
Eleanor M. Popkey, age 93, formerly of Menominee, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at Rennes Health Center De Pere. She was born on February 25, 1911, to the late Joseph and Jennie (Nasmith) Ryan in Marinette. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes High School and graduated in 1929. She married Gilbert Popkey on September 4, 1931, in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1979. She was a former member of Riverside County Club and Holy Family Parish. She enjoyed her walking club. Eleanor had a very warm and caring nature.

Eleanor is survived by four sons; Ross (Kristi) of Garden Valley, Calif., William (Rose Marie) of Sacramento, Calif., John (Renee) of New Port Richie, Fla., and Daniel (Holly) of De Pere; one daughter, Judith "Dolly" (James) Jonas of Green Bay; one brother, Daniel (Jane) Ryan of Marinette; one sister, Margaret Butman of Ypsilanti, Mich.; 13 grandsons, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Gilbert; an infant daughter; two brothers, Patrick and George, preceded her in death. Friends may call at the Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Tuesday, February 8, from 4-7 p.m. with a wake service at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 9, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Taylor St. in Marinette. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery Menominee. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. The family would like to thank the staff at Rennes Health Care Center for all their care. A memorial fund has been established.

Wesley E. 'Wes' Rathburn
Wesley E. "Wes" Rathburn, 71, a lifelong resident of Green Bay, died suddenly at his home Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005. He was born Sept. 7, 1933, to F. Orval and Marie (Brusso) Rathburn. He served as a paratrooper in the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team in Korea. On July 14, 1956, he married Mary Joanne Butnick at St Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church. Wes was an avid Packer fan, an avid trap shooter-mentor and was a lifetime member of the Brown County Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed golfing with his sons. Wes was a "hugger" and his embrace will be missed by his children, grandchildren and many friends.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Joanne Rathburn; six children and their spouses, Randy Rathburn and Yvonne Ullmer, Seymour; Dr. Jude Rathburn, River Falls; Joseph Rathburn, Lake Mary, Fla.; James and Joyce Rathburn, Greenfield, Minn.; John Rathburn, Fredericksburg, Va.; Mary and Roger Brunner, Dayton, Ohio; he loved being Grandpa to his ten grandchildren, Veronica Ullmer; Rachael Rathburn; Katie, Sean, Erin and Brian Rathburn; Christy and Jenny Rathburn; Ashley and Tyler Brunner; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Vonnie and Tom Baye, Adrianne DeMinor; nieces, nephews and cousins; Wes's trapshooting team, Steve Gillis, Larry LaPlant, Dick Delmont, Tom Rost, Carl Hansen, Bill Kitzinger and Fred Horn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Gladys Butnick; a sister and brother-in-law, Marge and Bud Mommaerts.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may also call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Inurnment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established.
