Palmiro (Paul) L. Mazzoleni
Palmiro (Paul) L. Mazzoleni Passed away March 22, 2005, peacefully in his sleep, at Manor Care Nursing Home. Palmiro was born September 1, 1913, in St. Louis, Mo., to Anton and Rina (Pagani) Mazzoleni, who emigrated from Italy in 1908. After living in Milwaukee and Kewaunee, Wis., his family permanently settled in Green Bay in 1921. Palmiro became an Eagle Scout in 1932 and was captain of his Green Bay West High School Cross Country team his junior and senior years (1932 and 1933).

After high school Palmiro attended St. Norbert College where he played two years on the varsity basketball team. Palmiro received a B.A. in Accounting from UW-Madison in 1939. After college Palmiro was employed by Standard Oil as a Field Auditor for Northeast Wisconsin. In May 1941, he enlisted in the United States Army. In July 1942, Palmiro received his Officers Commission after completing officers training class at Harvard Business Statistical School.

During World War II, Palmiro was proud to have served under General George Patton in Africa and Sicily and under General Mark Clark in Italy. While overseas he received three battle field promotions. He was discharged in March 1946 at the rank of Major. At war's end, while in Rome, Palmiro had the honor and privilege of meeting personally with Pope Pius XII. In 1946 Palmiro returned to Green Bay, his family and job at Standard Oil.

On August 30, 1949, he married the former Mary Destiche at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. Also in 1949 he opened "Paul's Standard Service" on South Broadway, which he operated until his retirement in 1987. In the 1970s Palmiro served four years as president of the Lakeland Chapter of the American Red Cross. He also was a member of VFW 9409, Suamico Chapter and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. From his days as an 8-year-old water boy, to his 1973 George W. Calhoun award as "Packer Fan of the Year" to his 2002 induction into the Packer Hall of Fame, Palmiro was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Jean Mazzoleni, their daughter Catherine and son John, Bloomington, Minn.; Mark and Karen Mazzoleni, their sons Paul, Tom and Mike and daughter Ann Marie, De Pere; Paul and Julie Mazzoleni, Arlington Heights, Ill.; four brothers-in-law, William and Jean Destiche and Roland Destiche, both of Green Bay; John Destiche, St. Germaine, Aubrey DeVore, Bowling Green, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Eleanore Destiche, Green Bay; nieces, nephews and long time neighbor and friends Michael and Mary Kay Held.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; two sisters, Santina Bent and Mary Mazzoleni.

Friends may call at Schauer and Schumacher East Side Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe St., from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2005. Parish wake service 6:30 p.m. with Deacon Nooker officiating. Visitation will continue at St. Agnes Church, 1484 Ninth St., Green Bay from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29. Funeral to follow at 11 a.m. at the Church, with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Entombment in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers and memoriam donations the family requests donations to Palmiro's favorite organizations, which are VFW 9409-Suamico Chapter, Boy Scouts-Green Bay Chapter, American Red Cross-Lakeland Chapter and St. Agnes Church.

The Mazzoleni family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Manor Care Nursing and Rehab Home, especially RN Tami Earley, Heartland Hospice Service especially, RN Heidi Brown during Palmiro's stay at ManorCare.

Kurt C. Strong
Kurt C. Strong, 38, a Green Bay resident, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Kurt was born February 22, 1967, in Glendale, Calif., the son of Judith (Wildman) Foucault and the late Charles Strong. He was employed by Precision Graphics as a service technician for 10 years until his illness forced him to leave his job. Kurt's love of his life was his daughter, Katrina. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially going to his grandpa Wildman's land in Langlade County to hunt. Kurt also loved bass and fly fishing, camping, skydiving and riding his Harley.

Survivors include his daughter, Katrina Earley, Oconto, his mother Judith Foucault, Duvall, Wis.; one brother Kevin (Theresa) Strong, Green Bay, and one nephew, Kasey Strong, Green Bay. Kurt is also survived by half-brothers and sisters; Chuck, Char and Leah; his special friends, Steve and Jennifer Beno, Green Bay, and his beloved cat, Whispers.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home & Crematory, 1630 E. Mason St. on Friday, March 25, 2005, from 4-8 p.m. Prayer services will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the town of Summit Cemetery, Langlade County. Online condolences may be expressed at prokowall.com/obit.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his daughter, Katrina's, education fund. Kurt's family would like to extend at sincere thank you to his wonderful friends; Steve, Lani, Tom, Dave, Kim, Gary, Dale, Bryan, Vern and Bob and also to VNA Hospice, especially to Tracy, Corinne, Barb and Ileana.

Sally A. (Marcek) Anderson, 58, Green Bay. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 S. Ridge Road. Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Survivors include one son, Ken Sieglaff; three daughters, Kathy (Andrew) Duaime, Karen (Steve) Peterson, Rhonda (Jeff) Carlson; seven grandchildren. Carol Berceau
Carol Berceau, 76, Allouez. Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. today at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St. Matthew St. Survivors include her husband, Jim; two daughters, Ann (Del) Keup, Amy (Philip) Mattek; one son, Thomas (Kathy) Berceau; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Beatrice Bloomer. Malcore Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., is assisting the family.

Denise J. DeVillers
Denise J. DeVillers, 50, Green Bay. Visitation 3-5 p.m. Thursday at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave. Funeral service 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Survivors include one son, Adam Green, Green Bay; her father, Gerald DeVillers, Green Bay; one brother, Dale DeVillers, San Antonio; two grandchildren.

George L. Erdman
George L. Erdman, 87, Green Bay, former Pulaski resident, died peacefully Monday, March 21, 2005, at Woodside Lutheran Home. The son of the late Louis and Josephine Erdman was born December 23, 1917, in Chicago, Ill. On November 27, 1949, he married the former Frieda Klopotic in Chicago. The couple moved to Pulaski in 1958. George had been employed as a tool and die maker at Pyle International, Chicago and National Can Co., Green Bay. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Frieda, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Judy) Ferguson, Green Bay, Ray (Marie) Ferguson, Shawano; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandson; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

George was preceded in death by one son, George Erdman Jr., two sisters, Dorothy, and his twin sister Lorraine. Friends may call at Assumption B.V.M. Church, Pulaski, after 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, Fr. Brendan Wroblewski, O.F.M. presiding, with burial in the parish cemetery.

Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski, is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family would like to thank the East wing staff and Pastoral Care at Woodside Lutheran Home for the care extended to George.

Survivors include her husband, Bernard; two sons, Gary and Wayne Parizek, Wayside; one sister, Laverne (William) Treml. Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County R, Denmark, is assisting the family.

Leslie C. Motiff
Mr. Leslie C. Motiff, 94, Green Bay, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at a local nursing home. He was born Nov. 10, 1910, in Green Bay to Alexander and Jennie (Marto) Motiff. On April 29, 1930, Leslie was united in marriage to Dolores "Dee" Williquette at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howard. Together they enjoyed the next 72 years at each others' side until Dolores preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2002. Leslie was employed for many years by the City of Green Bay as a heavy machine operator until his retirement in the 1970s. Leslie had a love of the outdoors which he shared and taught to his family. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially bear and deer, and he enjoyed the time he could spend at the family cottage in Amberg, Wis. Leslie was a longtime member of the Northeastern Wisconsin Beagle Club and he raised many champion beagles. He was also involved with the local Pigeon Club and would often race pigeons on the weekend. Leslie also enjoyed the annual trip to Florida that he and Dolores would take with friends.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Raymond and Marie Motiff, Amberg; Geraldine "Geri" Meiers, Green Bay; Mark and Linda Motiff, Green Bay; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Dave and Terri Cornette, Steven and Darci Motiff, Mike and Desire Motiff, Julie and Ron Rybachek, Michelle and Scott Olejniczak, Lisa and Eric VanDeWiele, Rick Meiers and his special friend, DeAnna Dimmitt, Joe and Melissa DeClerc, Kevin and Holly Kaiser, Matt and Melissa Motiff; eleven great-grandchildren, Alex and Samantha Cornette, Brad and Ryan Motiff, Cole and Morgan Motiff, Josh and Zach Olejniczak, Drew and Dylan DeClerc, Emma Kaiser; one great-great-granddaughter, Natlie Olejniczak; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Wanner, Howard.

Leslie was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; his parents; a sister, Angeline Fonder; and a son-in-law, James Meiers. Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday. The Funeral Service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Rowland De Peaux O.Praem officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

The Motiff family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Steven Turzinski and his staff. They would also like to express their appreciation to the entire staff of Western Village for their wonderful care.
