Mrs. Ken 'Fern' Derouin
Mrs. Ken (Fern) Derouin, 77, of 2790 So. Ridge Rd., died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at a local nursing home. Fern was born October 25, 1922, in Bellevue, to the late Matthew and Nettie (Parins) Denisson. She married Kenneth Derouin on June 11, 1942, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Green Bay. Fern and Kenneth farmed all of their lives prior to retirement in 1975. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, children, Ann Derouin, Green Bay, Buck Derouin, De Pere, Bill and Pat Derouin, De Pere, Nancy and Jim Thomas, Elkhart Lake, Ed and Maria Derouin, Green Bay, Jim and Karen Derouin, De Pere, Sandy and Michael Del Giacco, De Pere; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her siblings and their spouses, Roman and Agnes Denisson, Orland and Elaine Denisson, Janice and Robert Cavil, Mrs. Vernon (Kathleen) Van Beek, Mary and Norbert Gillis, Lois and Richard Mickulsky, Peter and Theresa Denisson, and one sister-in-law, Cathy. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Matt, Jr. Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth St., De Pere, Sunday, from 4-8 p.m. Prayer Service 8 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday from 10-11 a.m. at Nativity Parish. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrate at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Hablewitz officiating. Entombment in the Allouez Mausoleum.

Ruth M. Denis
Ruth M. Denis, 85, De Pere, died Wednesday at a local nursing home. She was born August 25, 1914 in Green Bay to the late Matthew and Sadie (Aldrich) Sutton. She married William H. Denis February 2, 1937 in Green Bay. He preceded her in death May 30, 1967. Ruth was an avid painter and loved to knit. She is survived by two sons, Richard S. Green Bay and Michael R. Atlanta Ga.; two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Michael S. Utton; one sister, Pattie Crutters. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday and after 11 a.m. Saturday at Schauer & Schumacher. Funeral 3 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Gary Pierce officiating. Burial Allouez Cemetery.

Doris Mae Ambrosius
Doris Mae Ambrosius, age 63, of 451 Orlando Drive, De Pere, died Sunday at St. Vincent Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Doris was born on June 30, 1936, in the Town of Howard to the late Benjamin and Evelyn (Stordeur) Huben. Doris married George Ambrosius on Aug. 8, 1953, at St. John the Baptist Church in Howard. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her time with the Christian Mothers organization. Survivors include her husband, George; her mother, Mrs. Benjamin (Evelyn) Huben; four sons, Dale (Cheryl) of De Pere, Tom (Debbie) of Pulaski, Paul of De Pere, and Jack (Lori) of De Pere; two daughters, Barb (Tom) Spang of Green Bay, and Lois (Randy) Burt of Kaukauna; six grandchildren, Christina and Melinda Spang of Green Bay, Samantha and Robert Burt of Kaukauna, and Kyle and Megan Ambrosius of Pulaski; one brother, Robert Huben of Green Bay; and two sisters, Florence (Harold) Rentmeester of Green Bay and Mary (Clayton) VanEnkevort of Lakewood. She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Patsy. Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home Tuesday, May 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in De Pere. Entombment in the Allouez Mausoleum.
Memorial funds may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the ninth-floor staff at St. Vincent Hospital for their thoughtful and compassionate care.
Eugene 'Gene' J. Albers
Eugene “Gene” J. Albers, 80, died Thursday evening, April 27, 2000, at a local hospital, in the company of his wife and six children. He was born in West De Pere on February 22, 1920, to the late George and Harriet (Denissen) Albers. In December, 1941, Gene enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He advanced to the rank of First Lieutenant and piloted a B24 Liberator Bomber with the 8th Air Force in England. He flew 30 missions and was awarded the Air Medal for Meritorious Service. Gene was discharged in 1945. On January 25, 1947 he married Mary E. Gomach at the Cathedral in Green Bay. Gene was self-employed as a fuel oil distributor in the Green Bay area for many years, selling his business in 1976. He worked for the City of Green Bay for eight years as a Bridge-tender before retiring in 1983. Gene enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing. Gene and Mary spent many happy summers at their trailer on the Cloverleaf Lakes. After enjoying the holidays with family, they would winter in Florida or the Southwestern States. They discovered Las Vegas on one of their winter trips and lived there from 1986 until last summer, when they moved back to Green Bay. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; two daughters, Carole Bailey, Milwaukee, and Beth and Dave McIntyre, Tucson, Arizona; four sons, Mike Albers and special friend Paula Spurlock, Waco, Texas, Tom and Debbie Albers, Dick and Terry Albers, and Steve and Laurie Albers, all of Green Bay; nine grandchildren, Justin Bailey, Brian, Maggie and Dan Albers, Tara and Amy Albers, Leon Albers, Michael and Eugene McIntyre; and special family friend Deena Perleberg; five sisters, Helen (Norb) Van Vonderen, De Pere, Katie and Frank DuPuis, De Pere, Della and Robert Collaer, Green Bay, Marie and Bob Denissen, Green Bay, Blanche and Jerry Eckers, Clintonville; three sisters-in-law, Grace (Clem) Albers, De Pere, Bernice (Bob) Gomach and Alice (Bill) Heesaker, both of Green Bay; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clem Albers; five brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law. Friends may call at St. Bernard Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Jerome Pastors officiating. MALCORE Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Gene’s family wishes to extend their appreciation to the doctors who gave him such good care and to the nurses on 7th and 9th floor at St. Vincent Hospital who made him so comfortable in his last hours.
Adolph Fulton Marcheske
Adolph Fulton Marcheske, 96, of Hartford, WI, died Saturday, April 29, 2000 at Hartford Memorial Hospital. Adolph was born April 29, 1904 in Oconto, WI to the late Karl and Anna Krause Marcheske. He later married Elsie Hein; she preceded him in death. During his lifetime he worked as a dairy farmer. He attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Hayes, WI. Survivors include one daughter, Jane LaRue Hansen, Hartford, WI; one son, Ralph Trudy Marcheske, Sheboygan, WI; two sisters, Martha Sommer and Sophie Lorier, both of Sheboygan; two brothers, Clarence Marcheske, Sheboygan; Walter Marcheske, Menasha, WI; five grandchildren and spouses; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Suring from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church, Rev. Russell Kampfer officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Suring.
Michael A. Gilbert, Jr.
Michael A. Gilbert, Jr., 16, son of Michael and Karen Kienitz Gilbert, Sr. of W11600 26th Rd., Pound died in an auto accident Friday, April 28, 2000 in Marinette County. He was born July 21, 1983 at Marinette and was a sophomore at Coleman High School. Mike was a member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, Town of Beaver and enjoyed working on trucks and cars. Surviving besides his parents are two sisters, Wendy and Kayla both at home; paternal grandparents, Jan and George Sanders of Tomahawk; maternal grandparents, Delmar and Sylvia Kienitz of Pound; great-grandmother, Ger-trude Marquardt of Coleman, and aunts and uncles. Friends called at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Beaver Hwy 64 from 11 a.m. Monday until the time of services. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the church with Rev. Mark Hannemann officiating. Burial was in St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Pound. Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman assisted the family with arrangements.
Bernice A. Shallow
Bernice A. Shallow, 75, of W8892 East 2nd Rd., Coleman died Saturday, April 29, 2000 at Rennes Health Center-East, Peshtigo. The daughter of the late Camille and Irene Belongia Charlier was born June 7, 1924 in Coleman. Bernice was married to Peter Shallow on September 4, 1943 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Oconto. She made wedding cakes for 30 years and made a stuffed teddy bear which was sent to General Norman Schwartzkopf. Bernice worked at Coleman Products for several years. She was a member of St. Ann Altar Society of Ss. Francis & Wenceslaus Church, Coleman, an honor member of the Equity Homemakers Society and was involved in making arts and crafts. Surviving are her husband, Peter Shallow; two sons, Patrick Joanne Shallow of McClure, IL and Tom Ginger Shallow of Neenah; two daughters, Debbie Tim Boyle of Aurora, IL and Tammy Chuck Steinke of Manitowoc; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and 10 brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Marie and a grandson, Michael Shallow. Friends called on Sunday at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman, where a parish wake service was held. Funeral Mass was conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Ss. Francis & Wenceslaus Church, Coleman. Rev. John Hephner officiated with burial in St. John Cemetery, Coleman.
Juanita 'Sis' Boes
Juanita 'Sis' Boes, 69, of Oconto, died Saturday, April 29, 2000 at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette. 'Sis' was born October 16, 1930 in Oconto to the late Harry and Eunice Curran Sohrweide. 'Sis' sang with the Mary Melody Maids in high school. She was an avid bowler and loved playing bingo. 'Sis' is survived by two daughters, Kathy Francis Pecor, Elko, NV; Karen Terry Pillsbury, Peshtigo; four sons, Gary Bonnie Boes, Kenosha; Norbert Brenda Boes, Gypsum, CO; Kevin Dede Boes, Two Rivers; Timothy Boes, Oconto; three brothers, Harry Pat Sohrweide, Peshtigo; Orlando Shirley Sohrweide, Oconto; Rodger Carol Sohrweide, Pensaukee; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday May 2, 2000. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 12 noon at the funeral home with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
