Russell Albert Franks
Russell Albert Franks, 77, 5644 Hwy 41, Oconto, died April 23, 2000 at the Oconto Memorial Hospital. Russell was born in Oconto on September 9, 1922 to the late Albert and Annie Tiedke Franks. He was raised in Oconto and married Catherine Thompson on February 22, 1947. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Oconto and the Amvets. Russell was a blacksmith for the U.S. Coast Guard Patrol during WWII. Survivors include his wife Catherine; two sons, Albert R. Franks, Appleton and Robert W. Margaret Franks, Oconto; two grandchildren, Russell Lee and Laura Kay Franks, Oconto; two sisters and other relatives. Private services were held April 26, 2000 at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto with Rev. Frederik Schulz officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion and Amvets.
Clara H. Block
Clara H. Block, 92, Gillett, went to the arms of her Risen Savior on Easter Sunday, April 23, 2000, at the Gillett Nursing Home. She was born March 21, 1908, in the Town of Maple Valley, to the late Hans and Anna Hansen Andersen. On November 10, 1928, Clara married Adolph G. Block at St. John Lutheran Church, Pulcifer. He preceded her in death November 18, 1999. She was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Gillett, and the WELCA. Clara is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Joyous, Kimberly; Richard and Eva, Gillett; Elroy and Joan, Bonduel; Roger and Beverly, Milwaukee; 17 gandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister-in-law, Gladys Johnsen, Gillett; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Block; two grandsons, Richard and Aaron Block; one granddaughter, Maureen Block; three sisters, Mabel and Sophia Andersen, Bertha Bert Phillips, and one brother, Einer Johnsen. Friends called at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Gillett, Friday April 28, 2000 after 9:30 a.m. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Dennis N. Nelson officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.
Norma E. Wenzel
Norma E. Wenzel, 68, Oconto, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls. She was born to the late Charles and Edith McDonald Wenzel August 6, 1931. Norma enjoyed cooking, dancing and watching classic western films. Surviving are three sons, Justin Linda Wenzel, Oconto; Allen Melissa Wenzel, Peshtigo; Robert Wenzel, Oconto; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three brothers and six sisters. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Wenzel, and two nephews, John Hurtado and Marlin Wenzel. Friends called at the Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Oconto, Monday, April 24, 2000 from 1-3 p.m. The funeral service was at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Walt Kaszynski officiating.
Doreen Lydia Wilson
Doreen Lydia Wilson nee Delikat, 73, Suring died this past Saturday, April 22, 2000. Doreen was born on September 9, 1926 to the late Lydia nee Clauer and Frederick Delikat. She was married on September 30, 1944 to David Wilson. They lived in South Milwaukee until their retirement in 1983. Then they moved to Grindle Lake in Crivitz until David's death in 1987. Then Doreen moved to Breed. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, Oak Creek for 28 yeares and later Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Breed. Survivors include her children, Darleen Paul Berntson, Larry Sandy Wilson, Kathy Don Kieweg, David Joy Wilson and Julie Wilson; 11 grandchildren and five great-granddaughters; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is also survived by her beloved and cherished companion of almost nine years, Victor 'Bud' Meles. She was preceded in death by her husband David, her mother Lydia, her father Frederick, and her two sisters, Dorothy and Delores. Visitation was held aat Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Breed Wednesday April 26, 2000 beginning at 12 noon until funeral services 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Paul Scheunemann officiating. Visitation continued Thursday April 27, 2000 at Forest Hill Memorial Park - Oak Creek Chapel at 11:30 a.m. until committal service 1 p.m. with Pastor Dean Dummer officiating. Helen Checki Mikrut
Helen Checki Mikrut, 90, Green Bay, former of Lena, WI, died at Western Village Nursing Home of Green Bay. She went home to be with the Lord and Savior April 20, 2000. Helen was born May 17, 1909 in Wallace, MI to the late Joseph and Katherine Kobski Mikrut. The former Helen Mikrut married Andrew Checki November 9, 1926 in Spruce. Andrew preceded her in death December 8, 1987. The couple farmed for 23 years in Lena before moving to Green Bay. Helen worked for the H.C. Prange Company as a custodian for 15 years before retiring. She belonged to the Homemakers Club and was a member of St. Patrick's Parish of Green Bay. Helen was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by one daughter, Marcella Pawlak, Green Bay; her grandson, Greg Pawlak, Green Bay, and his sons, Joshua, Cody and Shane, all of Kingsford, MI; her granddaughter, Tina Kolstad and husband Allan, and her children Jordan, Courtney and Crystal, and stepchildren Melissa, and Adam, all of Green Bay. She is also survived by two very special nieces, Frances Halvelka, Wallace; and Virginia Berg, Marinette and their families. Helen was preceded in death by a son, Stanley, two brothers, two sisters, and a son-in-law, Louis Pawlak. Friends called at the Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena, Saturday, Aoril 22, 2000 from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Frank Schrage officiating. Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Spruce.

Diana May Endries
Diana May Endries, 63, of Townsend, died at Saint Vincent Hospital in Green Bay on Saturday, April 15, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer. Diana was born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin on March 27, 1937, the daughter of Edward and Celia Homel Holsen. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc and married Leander 'Andy' Endries. Together they raised their family, and when the kids were grown, she went on to obtain a Nursing degree from Lakeshore Technical College in 1979. She worked as a LPN for many senior living homes in the Manitowoc area. She and Andy then moved permanently to Townsend. There she made many new friends and was active in many organizations including Saint Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church in Lakewood, Lakewood Altar Society, Church Choir, Lioness Club, Lakewood Homemaker Club, and White Lake Mentoring group. She was also a Sandhill Crane Counter, and she enjoyed Bridge, bird watching, and music. Diana is survived by her husband, Leander 'And', of Townsend; three children, Lynn Endries-Rosenbauer, of Whitelaw, WI;l Vickie Jeff Krause, of Waupaca, WI; Eric Endries, Captain-US Army, of Stevens Point, WI; her mother, Celia Holsen; one sister and one brother, Doreen Steve Strouf, of Manitowoc, WI; Daniel Dorothy Holsen of Manitowoc, WI; numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward, in 1973. Father Gerald Schmidt and Deacon Harold Orlowski held a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church in Lakewood at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2000. Friends called upon the family at the church from 9 a.m. until time of services. A private interment was held. Suminski Funeral Home of Wabeno served the family.
Kenneth A. Elbe
Kenneth A. Elbe, 74, Gillett, died Monday afternoon, April 17, 2000, at the Gillett Nursing Home. He was born October 3, 1925, in Gillett, to the late John and Margaret Bahrke Elbe. On September 1, 1946, Kenneth married Ora Belle Kobs, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Gillett, where he was a member. He was employed by Ansorge Distributing Co., Gillett, as a truck driver, for 28 years, at which time he retired. He was a member of the Teamster's Union, Local 75. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Ora Belle, Gillett; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Randy and Kathy, Sacramento, CA; John, Appleton; Kennth L., Green Bay; two daughters and one son-in-law, Constance Lopez, Sparks, MD; Deborah and Ed Erickson, Gillett; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Harold and Lois, Green Bay; Carol Elbe, Neenah; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Gertrude Schmidt, Ethel and Ray Dorn, all of Shawano; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Kenneth was preceded in death by his brother, Emory. Friends called at the Kuehl Funeral Home, Gillett. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Gillett, with the Rev. Dennis N. Nelson officiating. Final resting place in Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Gillett.
Edward Fredrick
Edward Fredrick, 80, Gillett, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000. He was born November 8, 1919, in Gillett to Gustave and Bertha Leiske Fredrick. He graduated from Gillett High School and lived and farmed in Gillett all his life. He is survived by his wife, Irene, whom he married May 30, 1951; his three children, Kathy Fredrick Carl Hoffman; John Fredrick; and Brenda; and Penny Fredrick; and three grandsons, John and Christopher Hoffman and Cody Fredrick. His is also survived by three sisters, Elsie Gustke, Bette Zellmer Marvin and Jean Boelter Gordon; and his sister-in-law, Marion Fredrick. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters. Friends called after 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000, at St. John Lutheran Church, Pulcifer. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, at the church, with the Rev. John Laatsch officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Kuehl Funeral Home, gillett, assisted the family with arrangements.
