George Lapp
George Arthur Lapp, age 86, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away on Oct. 9, 2002.
He was born Aug. 14, 1916, in Dorcester, to Wallace and Clara Lapp. He received his formal education in Fifield. He graduated from Fifield High School in 1934. Mr. Lapp worked at the Fifield creamery (now closed) and Miller’s gas station (now Fifield Grocery store).
He moved to Palmer, Alaska, in 1938, to seek his fortune. He fought in World War II, U.S. Army, Aleutian Islands.
Mr. Lapp spent the remainder of his years living in Anchorage.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian; brothers, Frank, Park Falls, and Bert, Sheboygan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Richard, Donald, and Wallace.
Mary Weiss
PARK FALLS — Mary Helen Weiss, 99, of Park Falls, died Monday, October 14, 2002 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls. She was born on April 28, 1903 in Park Falls, the daughter of Thomas and Clara (Oberpaul) Kronberger. She spent her entire life in the Park Falls area. On July 25, 1922 she married Joseph Weiss in Park Falls. Mrs. Weiss was a homemaker and member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
She is survived by three daughters: Sr. Virgirna Weiss of Milwaukee, Wis., Rose (Ron) Fowler of South Milwaukee, Patricia Hansen of Cudahy; four sons: Joseph (LaVerne) Weiss of Park Falls, John (Patricia) Weiss of Iron River, Lawrence (Patricia) Weiss of Milwaukee, Fdward (Cheryl) Weiss of Ridgeerest, CA
(2) daughters-in-law:Bernice Weiss of Park Falls, Vicky Seelow of Neenah.
(33) grandchildren, (49) great-grandchildren, and (4) great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph in 1996, her sons: William, Kenneth, James, and Raymond, (2)great-grandchildren and brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 17, 2002 at 10:30am from St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Park Falls. Fr. James Jackson will officiate.
Burial will follow at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30am until the hour of the service at the church.
Marian L. Wardensky
PARK FALLS — Marian Wardensky,80, of Park Falls, died Sunday, October 13,2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. She was born on July 23, 1922 in Park Falls, the daughter of Emil and Harriet (Parker) Lemke.
She was a lifetime resident of the Butternut-Park Falls area and attend school at the Wirsing School. On September 6, 1939 she married Reinhart Wardensky. Marian worked at Phillips Plastics, Park Manor Nursing Home and was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters: Joyce (Jim) Young of Green Bay; Joan (Jim) Kilger of Park Falls; six grandchildren: Greg, Jeff (Jane), and Kurt Damrow and Jean Pierce, Jackie (Bill) Jeske, and Judy (Bob) Juul; twelve great- grandchildren; two sisters: Ruth Netzel of Park Falls, Carol (John) Radlinger of Loretto, Mich.; a brother: Melvin (Jackie) Lemke of Paradise, Calif.; her former husband Reinhart (Leona) Wardensky of Park Falls; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son John Wardensky, three brothers: Lester, Emil, and Bob Lemke, her infant sister Virginia, and her special friend Mint Barber.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 17 at 4 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Park Falls. Rev. Scot O'Connor will officiate.
Interment will be held at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 3 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
Alloy Chapinski
INDIANAPOLIS — Alloy A. Chapinski, 75 of Indiana
polis, Indiana
, died October 4, 2002 at Community North.
Mr. Chapinski graduated from Alliance College in Cambridge, Penn. He was a teacher and principal for 40 years having been a principal with the Ashland Public school system and also as a teacher and principal for 20 years in Cleveland, Ohio . In 1993 Mr. Chapinski retired as principal at Our Lady of the Lake, Ashland.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and Wisconsin Principal’s Association.
Mr. Chapinski is survived by his wife Delores Regruth Chapinski, a stepson Thomas E. Mullen, Jr., two sisters Marie Malinowski and Charlotte Montera, and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday, October 8 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Jerry Delvaux
MILWAUKEE — Jerry J. Delvaux, 84, Ashland, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, in Green Bay.
He was the beloved husband of the late Agnes (Treba) Delvaux; dear father of Helen Anne (Chester) Lorbiecki; Robert (Deb); Chester (Sue); Mary Delvaux; and Susan (the late Joel) Ehlert; the loving grandfather of John, Peter, Paul, Jennifer, Alex, Matthew, Beth, Nate and Kristen; brother of Charles (the late Rosemary) Delvaux. His brothers, Adrian (Audrey), John (Violet), Harold (Cecelia), Lloyd (Zudora), and Carl (Dorothy) and his sisters, Sr. Lucy Delvaux and Ruth (Melvin) Colson preceded him in death. Numerous loving relatives and friends also survive him.
He was retired from Pabst Brewery, Milwaukee, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree. He was also an active member of AARP, RSVP, and a volunteer at the Bargain Hut. He enjoyed participating in the Kitchen Band, the Senior Choir and many other volunteer activities.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, at the Mountain Funeral Home, Ashland.
A Memorial Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. A private interment will be held.
Memorials may be made to the Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund, Ashland.
Elmer Kundinger
PARK FALLS — Elmer Kundinger, 86, Park Falls, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at the Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls. He was born March 28, 1916 in Park Falls, the son of John and Mary (Hilgart) Kundinger.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Park Falls with Father James Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Nola Cemetery in Park Falls.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 1 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Park Falls from 4 - 8 p.m. with a Parish Prayer Vigil at 7 p.m. and on Monday, Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
The Novitzke Funeral Home in Park Falls is handling the arrangements.
Lyle Gilstad
GRAND VIEW — Lyle D. Gilstad, 80, Grand View, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland. He was born Oct. 7, 1922 in Grand View, the son of Peter and Minnie (Wallin) Gilstad.
He was a Sergeant in the US Army during WWII. He worked for American Airlines for over 30 years in Tulsa, Okla. He retired back to Grand View in 1981 after his wife, Ruth, passed away. Lyle was a member of the United Methodist Church in Grand View. A favorite hobby he loved was wood carving, and he was currently making a carousel because he loved carousel music. He will be remembered as a loving brother and wonderful uncle.
Surviving are a sister, Lorraine Gilbertson of Chippewa Falls; a brother, Arnold Gilstad of Grand View; nine nieces and nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives and friends.
Besides his wife, Ruth, he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Burt.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service for Lyle will be held at a later date in January 2003. He will be buried in Floral Haven Memorial Garden Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Okla. Roberts Funeral Home in Ashland is helping the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Grand View.
