Robert 'Bob' Van Frachem
Robert “Bob” Van Frachem, 83, formerly of De Pere, passed away Wednesday March 28, 2000 at a local nursing home. The son of the late William and Ella (Pfeifer) Van Frachem was born January 16, 1917 in Green Bay. Bob was a graduate of East High School. He married Dorothy Moes in 1940. Bob played on WBAY radio for two years. He ended his tenure in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant at Ft. Sill Oklahoma for four years. Bob also played in the Army orchestra. He worked at the Allouez Water Department for 33 years leaving there as a Superintendent. Bob then went on to get an Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin. He worked as an engineer for twelve years at McMahon engineering in Menasha until his retirement. After retirement, Bob started a band and taught guitar lessons. He was an avid gardener and was known for his beautiful flower gardens. Bob enjoyed woodworking, writing poetry, and especially his dogs. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Dorothy; a sister, Mrs. Melferd (Gladys) Mathys; nieces, Mrs. Alan (Mary Lou) Edwards, Donna Mae Pfleger, Mrs. Robert (Suzie) Damoto, Kathy Pahl; nephews, Tom Mathys. Tim Mathys, Mike Mathys. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Melferd Mathys. Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave. De Pere, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. Funeral service 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Schmeling officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Cemetery of the Holy Sepulchre of St. John the Baptist Parish in the town of Howard.
A memorial fund has been established in Bob’s name for the Osteoporosis Foundation and the Humane Society. The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Pinn; to all of the family and friends who were there for Bob; and to the staff at Odd Fellow Home.

Richard 'Dick' L. Vander Geeten
Richard (Dick) L. Vander Geeten, 69, Green Bay, died Monday, March 21, 2000 in a Yuma, Ariz. hospital. He was born January 15, 1931, in Green Bay to the late Ray and Mae (Kononski) Vander Geeten. On June 25, 1955 he married Darlene Roepcke in Green Bay. Richard had been employed as an engineer for the Green Bay Board of Education at West High School, retiring in 1992. In 1994, he retired from the grounds crew of the Green Bay Packers. He loved hunting, camping, fishing, and winters in Yuma. He also enjoyed traveling with the coachmen club and caravan, watching the Packers, working at the Bobcat games, coaching youth games and bartending for many years. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; one son, Mike (Renee) Vander Geeten, Green Bay; one daughter, Sally (Tod) Sanborn, Eagle River; three grandchildren, Joel and Danielle Vander Geeten and David Sanborn; one brother-in-law, Bob Maricque and one sister-in-law, Lois Vander Geeten; several nieces and nephews and many close friends. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Vander Geeten and one sister, Betty Maricque. Friends may call Sunday, April 2, 2000, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Lyndahl Funeral Home, Lombardi Avenue and Ridge Rd. where the funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Earl Vorpagel III officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

Diana Endries
Diana Endries, 63, of Town-send, died on Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, at Saint Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church in Lakewood. A visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until time of service. A full notice will follow. Suminski Funeral Home of Wa-beno, is handling the arrangements.

Dale R. Henrichs
Dale R. Henrichs, 66, Lena, died Sunday, April 16, 2000 at his home. He was born to the late Fred and Agatha Wyent Henrichs April 7, 1934 in Lena. Dale married the former Jean Shallow in June of 1955. He was employed by OMC - Evinrude in Milwaukee for 40 years. Dale belonged to AFL-CIO Local 1302 Union of Milwaukee. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Lena. Surviving are his wife, Jean; three sons, Dan Sara Henrichs, Lena; Dave and Ken Henrichs, both of Milwaukee; one daughter, Ann(special friend Steve Skwierawski, Milwaukee; two grandchildren, John and Jenna; two sisters, Darlene Rierdon, Louisville, KY; Diane Marvin Lotter, Menom-onee Falls; two brothers, Russell Linda Henrichs, Wausaukee; and Tom Mary Henrichs, Talbott, TN; and many nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Jean; brothers, Alfred and Loyal; brother-in-law, Rollyn Rierdon; nephew, Randy Henrichs and a special nephew, Marty Shallow. Friends may call at the Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena, Tuesday, April 18, 2000 from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Parish Vigil Service 8 p.m. Tuesday. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Lena at 11 a.m. with Father Frank Schrage officiating. Interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Lena.

Elaine A. Wittenkeller
Elaine A. Wittenkeller, 70, of Townsend, died on Sunday, April 16, 2000, at the Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette. She had been courageously fighting cancer. Elaine was born in Chicago, IL, on September 28, 1929, one of eleven children born to William and Rosemary Keslin Degnan. After graduating from school there, she married Ray M. Wittenkeller on September 18, 1948. She was considered a businesswoman by her family, as she was constantly working when she had the chance. Most of her career she worked as a purchasing agent for a steel company. When not working, Elaine was a dedicated homemaker and mother. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially swimming, skiing, and camping. When not outside, she enjoyed reading, watching old movies, and trips to the casino. She was especially proud of her family, and enjoyed the time spent with her children and grandchildren. Elaine is survived by her husband, Ray M. Wittenkeller; three children, Barry Jane Witten-keller, of Burnsville, MN; Christian Barbara Wittenkeller, of Addison, IL; Jay Cathryn Wittenkeller, of Spokane, WA; six brothers and sisters, Rosemary Larson, of Jacksonville, FL; Wil-liam Patricia Degnan, of Schererville, IN; James Degnan, of Schererville, IN; Phyllis Don Tomczak of Chicago, IL; Patricia John Crotty, of Hickory Hills, IL; George Patrici Degnan, of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Douglas, Brian, and Kristin Wittenkeller. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Christine; two granddaughters, Emily and Allison; three sisters, Eleanor Dalton, Kay Dundin, and Florence Blider; one brother, Jack Degnan. Father Gerald Schmidt and Deacon Harold Orlowski led a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon on Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Saint Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church in Lakewood. Friends called upon the family at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial at the Forest Home Cemetery. Suminski Funeral Home of Wabeno served the family.

Faye Mrs. Harlan Metzler
Faye Mrs. Harlan Metzler, 79, 319 S. Main St., Oconto Falls, died April 16, 2000, Palm Sunday, at home surrounded by family and friends. Faye was born to Wesley and Edna Hansen Scutt on May 20, 1920. She graduated from Gillett High School with the class of 1938 and beauty college in Green Bay. On March 11, 1941, she married Harlan Metzler at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Oconto Falls. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and River Island Golf Club. Throughout her life, Fay had many joys, family times, golfing, playing bridge, knitting, sewing, crafts and traveling. She will always be lovingly remembered by her family for her great Sunday dinners of baked chicken and fresh apple pie. Faye always had an open door for her friends and neighbors to visit. Survivors are her husband of 59 years, Harlan; their four children, Carole Gary Van Zeeland, Kaukauna; Karen Dave DePagter, Tampa, FL; Tom Metzler, Green Bay; Cathy Kurt VanSomeren, McFarland; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Marian Fredrick; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob and Alice Metzler, Millie Metzler all of Oconto Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sons, John and James, as well as many bridge and golf partners. The family will receive relatives and friends with her urn present after 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Oconto Falls until the time of services. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church with Fr. Harold Beerntsen and Patricia DeGroot, parish director, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Jones Funeral Service, Oconto Falls is serving the Metzler family.

LaVerne Skenandore
LaVerne Skenandore, 82, of Oneida, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000 at a local hospital. LaVerne was born July 22, 1917, to the late Joel and Lydia (Webster) House. She married Roy Skenandore on October 25, 1950 at Holy Apostles Church in Oneida. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1978. LaVerne was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Robert Cornelius Post #7784 in Oneida an the Do-Do Club. Survivors include two children, Janice and Ronald McLester, Oneida, Kevin and Kathy Skenandore, Green Bay; four grandchildren, “Little” Ronnie, and Bryan McLester, LeeAnn and Eric Skenandore; two great-grandchildren, Brannon and Carleigh Skenandore; one sister, Arlene Cornelius, Oakland, Calif. She is also survived by her special friend Millie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Roy Jr., a sister, Margaret John, and a brother, Merlin House. Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth St., De Pere, on Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. Oneida Indian Singing 6:30 p.m. Wake Service 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Holy Apostles Church, in Oneida, with the Rev. Brad McIntyre and Deacon Edmund Powless, officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Anna John Nursing Home and St. Mary’s ICU.

Laura Molly Ring
New Ulm - Laura Ring, 13, the daughter of John and Cindy Ring of 1622 N. Payne Street in New Ulm, died Tuesday, April 18th at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Laura Molly Ring, the daughter of John and Cynthia (Baumgartener) Ring, was born July 22, 1986 in Appleton, Wis. She was in the 8th grade at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in New Ulm. She was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church and was confirmed on Sunday, April 9, 2000. She loved to read and sing, play the piano, and babysit. Laura loved little kids. Survivors include her parents; sister, Andrea; brothers, Zachary and Caleb, all of New Ulm; paternal grandparents Lester and June Ring of New Ulm; maternal grandmother Beverly Baumgartener of Wrightstown, Wis; aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Kermit Baumgartener. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm, and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
