Mr. Melvin W. Prahl
Mr. Melvin W. Prahl, 85, Green Bay, departed this life to be with his Savior on March 30, 2000. He was born February 19, 1915, in the Township of Lebanon, Waupaca County, to the late August and Hulda (Brown) Prahl. He married Leila A. Tank at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, New London, July 13, 1940. Leila preceded him in death to be with her Lord in October of 1997, at the age of 78. Melvin enjoyed his employment in the pulp and paper industry, ending after 35 years as a Senior Utility Engineer with the Fort James Corporation, and as a professional engineer licensed by the state of Wisconsin. He served his Lord as a lifelong worker in His Church on various boards and committees of his local church, and of the Wisconsin Ev. Lutheran Synod. Especially close to his heart was Fox Valley Lutheran High School as one of its founding members. His efforts were tireless for his beloved school. Melvin is survived by four children, Lanny Prahl (Karen), Denver, Col., Larry Prahl, Green Bay, Lexey Prahl, Waterbury, Vt., Tina (Larry) Thompson, St. Croix, USVI; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Fletcher, and by his brother, Kenneth Prahl, both of New London. Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 East Mason Street on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at First Lutheran Church, 743 S. Monroe on Monday from 10 until the time of service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Schleis officiating. Entombment at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay.
A memorial fund in Melvin’s name has been established for Fox Valley Lutheran High School. A special thanks to Dr. Gerald Bayer and the oncology staff at St. Vincent, and the Unity Hospice for their kindness, care and concern.

Mrs. Berwin 'Alice' Paye
Mrs. Berwin (Alice) Paye, 88, Green Bay, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 4, 2000. She was born on February 27, 1912 in the Town of Green Bay to the late John and Clara (Vandervest) DuPont. On October 5, 1932 she married Berwin Paye in Champion. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1977. Together they farmed in New Franken until their retirement in 1977. Alice loved Bible study, sewing, visiting with the neighbors and going out to eat at Julie’s Cafe. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Cletus (Terri) Paye, Fullerton, Calif.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Geraldine (Clayton) Tilkens, Green Bay; Clarice (Don) Lemmens and Karen (Jerome) Fels, both of De Pere; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Paye, Schoefield; 22 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Wilbert (Mary Dee) DuPont, Green Bay; two sisters, Julia Brunner and Mary Legois, both Green Bay. She was preceded in death by her son Berwin “Butch” Jr.; one great-grandson, Griffin Duaime; her special friend Reuben Birr; two brothers, Henry and Goldie DuPont; four sisters, Myrtle Collins, Josie Berger, Lillian Fieck and Agnes Vincent. Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., Friday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Funeral Service 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Dave Hatch, Co-Pastor from Our Savior Lutheran Church, officiating. Entombment at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

Lee Le Coque
Lee Le Coque, 59, Green Bay, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at a local hospital following a long illness. He was born June 4, 1940, in Green Bay to the late Lawrence and Virginia (Hubbell) Le Coque. Lee served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1961. On March 13, 1971, he married Janyce Piper at United Methodist Church in Madison. Lee was employed as a machinist at Northwest Engineering. He later worked in retail sales for Schmitt’s Wholesale in Green Bay and later as a district manager for the Copps Stores in Madison. He later worked in retail management and sales in Illinois and Wisconsin, until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Lee enjoyed a variety of interests, including golf, hunting, fishing, and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Janyce; a daughter, Brenda Le Coque, Green Bay; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Sally Glawe, Green Bay; his best friends, Gary and Sandy Vanden Busch; a special cousin and her husband, Joanne and Dennis Bonesha; many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Virginia Le Coque; a son, Larry Le Coque; a brother, James “Jimmy” Le Coque; his stepfather, Norris Glawe; and his grandmother, Wealthy Samuelson. Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday. Friends may also call at First Assembly of God Church, 1438 Shawano Ave., from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Paul Hamelink officiating. Burial will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
The Le Coque family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses and staffs of St. Mary’s Hospital ICU, Dr. John Brusky, Dr. Andrews and Appleton VA Clinic, especially Dr. Coenen. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Rev. John S. Goserud
Rev. John S. Goserud, 76, of Lititz, formerly of York, died at 3:36 p.m. Wednesday, April 5 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Irene M. (Wukovits) Goserud. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary April 26. Private services and burial were held Saturday, April 8 in Hellertown Northampton Co. Burial was in Union Cemetery of Hellertown. A memorial service will be held Palm Sunday, April 16 at 3 p.m. at Lancaster Moravian Church, 1460 Eden Rd. Lancaster. Rev. Goserud was born September 16, 1923 in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. He was the son of the late Otis and Luella (Olson) Goserud. He was a member of Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church where he was confirmed in 1935 and now was a member of Lancaster Moravian Church. After his freshman year at Lawrence College, Appleton, Wis, he transferred to Moravian College, Bethlehem, Pa. where he graduated with his BA degree in 1945. He received his Master of Divinity from Moravian Theological Seminary in 1947. He was ordained a Deacon of the Moravian Church in 1947 and consecrated a Presbyter of the Moravian Church in 1952 by the late Bishop J. Kenneth Pfohl. His first ministerial charge was in Feb. 1947-1948 at Bethany Moravian Church in Altura, Minn. In Oct. of 1948 to the spring of 1950 he served with the United Presbyterian Church in West Allis, Wis. In May of 1950 he accepted a call from the Moravian Southern Province to be the founding pastor of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church, Winston-Salem, N.C. and served there until 1956. Still serving with the Southern Province, he was pastor of Calvary Moravian Church, Winston-Salem, N.C. from May 1956-1961. In Dec. 1961 he received a call from the Northern Province of the Moravian Church and served the Nazareth Moravian Church, Nazareth, Pa. until 1967. He accepted a call to Lancaster Moravian Church in 1967 and served there until 1976. In 1976 he was asked to work with the Western District of the Moravian Church and serve in his hometown church, Sturgeon Bay Moravian, Sturgeon Bay, Wis. In 1979 he received a call to York Moravian Church, York, Pa. and served there until his retirement from the Moravian ministry in 1988. While serving in The Moravian Church he was particularly active in the Moravian Church youth and camp programs, but is probably best remembered for his special love of music, his support of music programs in the church and the importance of music in the worship services of the many congregations he served. Rev. Goserud is survived by his wife, a resident of the Moravian Manor in Lititz, Pa.; two daughters, Ingrid McGee and her husband, Dr. Raymond McGee of Palmyra, Pa. and Elisa Goserud of Jackson Center, Pa.; one son, J. Thomas Goserud and his wife Donna Pinter Goserud of Lanisville, Pa.; eight grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Greaves of Sturgeon Bay, Wis. Officiating at the memorial service will be his pastor, The Rev. Jeffrey D. Gehris and Bishop Edwin Sawyer.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Moravian Manor, 300 West Lemon Street, Lititz, Pa. 17543 or to American Diabetes Association, 2040 Linglestown Rd., Suite 106, Harrisburg, Pa. 17110. Arrangements by Workinger-Semmel Funeral Home, Inc., 849 East Market Street, York, Pa.

Mrs. Edward 'Esther' Gooding
Mrs. Edward (Esther) Gooding, 94, Green Bay, died Wednesday March 29, 2000 at a local hospital after a brief illness. Born in Oconto, September 13, 1905 she is the daughter of the late John and Mary (VanBovan) Maloney. She married the late Fred Mohr in 1926 and he preceded her in death March 16, 1966. Esther then married Edward Gooding May 24, 1947 and he preceded her in death November 10, 1988. She was a lifetime member of Saints Peter and Paul Church. Esther loved gardening, especially her roses. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law; Marion Kurth, Lois and Bob Marcott, all of Green Bay; two sons and daughters-in-law; Roger and Patricia Mohr of Green Bay; Donald and Dorothy Mohr of Townsend; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by spouse, two sons-in-law; Milton Kurth and Ervin Peerenboom, three brothers and six sisters. Friends may call at MALCORE Funeral Home, University Ave at Baird Street from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Today and prior to the funeral on Friday. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Today. Funeral service Friday 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend John G. Van Der Horst officiating. Entombment at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

Mary E. 'PeeNee' Glime
Mary E. “PeeNee” Glim(e), 57, Green Bay, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2000 after a year long courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in Green Bay, April 3, 1942 she is the daughter of the late Willard and Marie (Derepkowski) Saunders. On May 16, 1960 she married Garry Glime resulting in 18 years of marriage and four children. Mary graduated from East High School and attended St. Norbert College. She was a longtime member of Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Church. Mary was very involved with the patients of Brown County Mental Health Center where she was employed as a Volunteer Coordinator for almost 20 years until her illness forced her into early retirement. She was also employed part-time at Wal-Mart East in the fabrics department. Mary truly enjoyed working at Wal-Mart and helping customers with their special projects. Although it was a very hard decision, she resigned from Wal-Mart to begin her next project, the remodeling of her father’s home after his death on April 3, 1997. There wasn’t a day that went by that Mary didn’t talk about what wall she was going to tear down or what window she was going to put in. Mary’s love of people and life showed in everything she did; whether it be painting, gardening, sewing, cooking, working, volunteering, remodeling, or mothering. She is survived by her three sons; Garry (Joe) Glime, Jr. and special friend Deb Poupore, Dick Glim, Mike Glime all of Green Bay; one daughter, Michelle and fiance’ Greg Shavlik and his children, Connor and Ryan Shavlik of Seymour; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Wanda Saunders of Green Bay; one of Mary’s many dreams was to be a grandmother; this wish came true with the arrival of Marcus Grant Shavlik to Michelle and Greg on January 4 of this year. Marcus Grant brought much love and joy to Mary’s final days; one step-daughter, Susan Behnke of California; Nieces and Nephews; Amy Geyso of Wrightstown, Julie (Geyso) and Ken Rogers of Little Chute, Rick Geyso of Wrightstown, Lea Geyso of Green Bay, Dawn Saunders of Wrightstown, and Sheri Saunders of Green Bay; special friend, Janice “Maude” Schumacher of Green Bay. Preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tom. Friends may call at MALCORE Funeral Home, University Ave. at Baird Street , from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the funeral on Thursday. Parish wake service 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral Thursday 10:30 a.m. at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Church with the Rev. Robert E. Rhyner officiating.
Mary’s children would like to extend a special thank you to Gen Giese, Anne Stankewicz, Candy Krause and her many friends at Brown County Mental Health center. Your kindness, support and love will never be forgotten. They would also like to thank 9th floor nursing staff of St. Vincent’s Hospital for their care and concern.
