Susan Roush
1964-2008
Susan Carla Naomi Roush, 44, Medford, died Wednesday, July 23 at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center in Medford while recuperating from a stroke in early May. Her funeral was held Monday, July 28 in the Chapel of Memories in Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere, Ill. The Rev. Philip Henselin, pastor of New Life Lutheran Church in Rockford, Ill., officiated.
Susan was born March 8, 1964 in Belvidere, Ill. to James C. Sr. and Gloria (Loescher) Roush of Marengo, Ill. She attended Marengo area schools and graduated from Marengo Community High School in 1983.
She was employed at Pioneer Center in McHenry, Ill., for approximately 10 years prior to moving to the Medford area in 1996. She lived with her brother, Gene, in Stetsonville until she was able to find her own apartment and live independently which was her No. 1 wish in life. She continued to grow spiritually, mentally, emotionally and experienced a lot of 'firsts' during that time of her life. Susan's greatest joy, however, was working at Black River Industries (BRI) where she was employed for more than 12 years, making new friends and challenging the staff.
At the time of her death she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as a volunteer at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center. She especially enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics program and showing off her trophies and ribbons, and she equally enjoyed her volunteer time with the nursing home residents. Her hobbies also included crocheting, puzzles and writing to pen pals.
Survivors include her mother, Gloria Roush of Woodstock, Ill.; two brothers, Eugene (Carol) Roush of Stetsonville and Arlyn (Elizabeth) Roush of Woodstock, Ill.; many nieces and nephews; and cherished friends and co-workers.
She was preceded in death by her father, James C. Roush Sr.; and a brother, James C. Roush Jr.
Memorials in her honor may be given to Black River Industries.

Stuart Welte
Stuart M. Welte, 83, Sheldon, died Monday, Aug. 4 at his home. Services are pending with Plombon Funeral Services of Gilman.

Marcella Daubert
1913-2008
Marcella M. Daubert, 95, Medford, died Saturday, Aug. 16 at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford, where she had resided the past 3 1/2 years. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 19 at The United Church Of Christ in Medford, with Rev. Cathy Hinman officiating. Interment was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Pallbearers were Jeff Kallenbach, Justin Hraby, Mark Willner, Wally Kummer and Brian and Tim Noland.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Marcella Gerstberger was born August 15, 1913 in Rib Lake to the late Ernst and Gertrude (Frank) Gerstberger. She attended Fawn Valley School.
On August 29, 1936 in Rib Lake she married Sam Daubert, who preceded her in death on October 9, 1994. They owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Corning, Lincoln County, from 1937 to 1976. They moved to Medford in 1976.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Survivors include a son, George (Luella) of Medford; a daughter, Sandy (Mike) Kummer of Medford; three sisters, Emma Ziembo, Edna Rezutek and Betty Quednow, all of Rib Lake; three brothers, Elmer (Elsie), Art (Marlene) and Glendon "Sonny," all of Rib Lake; a sister-in-law, Angeline Gerstberger of Rib Lake; four grandchildren, Tami (Jeff) Kallenbach, Lisa (Brian) Noland, Mark (Lori) Willner, all of Medford, and Wally (Marsha) Kummer of Wausau; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Kluckman and Alice Ziembo; and a brother, Otto.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for designation at a later date.

Cheryl Herrmann
1947-2008
Cheryl Anne Herrmann, 61, Wittenberg, died Monday, Aug. 11 at Hospice House in Wausau under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. A memorial mass was held Saturday, Aug. 16 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Rothschild, with Father Janusz Kowalski officiating. Inurnment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake.
Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home of Wittenberg assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Cheryl Bokath was born February 14, 1947 in Marshfield to Verl and Lela (Huber) Bokath, formerly of Rib Lake. She attended Rib Lake schools, graduating in 1965. After graduation she moved to Milwaukee.
On August 25, 1995 in Milwaukee, she married Bruce Herrmann, who survives. They moved to Elderon in 2002, then to Wittenberg in 2008. She was employed at WPS Insurance in the customer service department.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her mother, Lela Bokath of Marshfield; three stepchildren, Sandy (Dell) Gutknecht of Wauwatosa, Holly (Ken) Traub of West Bend and Scott (Michelle) Herrmann of Tomahawk; two brothers, Chuck Bokath of Rogers, Alaska, and Scott (Melissa) Bokath of Stanley; a sister, Cindy (Kent) Mueller of Marshfield; 10 step-grandchildren, Dave (Laura) Gutknecht, Joseph Martin, Jennifer Herrmann, Andrew, Ryan, Christopher and Kari Gutknecht, Jeremy and Nickolas Herrmann and Mykena Traub; one stepgreat-grandchild, Jose Martin; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, and one brother in infancy.

Antoinette Kobylarczyk
1936-2008
Antoinette J. Kobylarczyk, age 71, of Thorp, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp, with Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Burial was at St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leonard Cwikla, Stanley Halida Jr., Neil Alger, Jerry Kobylarczyk, Alfons Mitchell Jr. and Steve Pawlik.
Antoinette Jean Mnichowicz was born on December 31, 1936 in Polley, Wis., to Anthony J. and Ann (Pawlik) Mnichowicz Sr. She was raised on the family farm in Lublin and received her education at area schools. After completing her education, Antoinette lived with her uncle for a short time, working at his resort. She then moved to Chicago, Ill., where she worked for Western Electric for ten years. Upon returning to the Thorp area, Antoinette worked at the Thorpedo Restaurant. She was united in marriage to Louis F. Kobylarczyk on October 15, 1966 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Together, they farmed until 1977 when they retired and moved to the City of Thorp. Antoinette continued to reside in Thorp until entering the Clark County Health Care Center in 2003.
Antoinette was a very caring person who always found time to help her family in any way possible. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, baking, cooking, crocheting, knitting and doing embroidery work. She was especially fond of her Pomeranian dogs.
She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church and its PCCW, and also was a member of Rainbow Homemakers Club.
Antoinette is survived by her four brothers, Dennis (Ruth) Mnichowicz of Thorp, Wis., James (Anita) Mnichowicz of Lublin, Wis., Anthony J. Mnichowicz Jr. of Lublin, Wis., and Leon (Theresa) Mnichowicz of Roselle, Ill.; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Louis on March 9, 2005; one sister, Jeanette; and two brothers, Gabriel and Joseph.
Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Matthew Mathias
1988-2008
Matthew Paul Mathias, 20, Medford, died Sunday, Aug. 17 as a result of injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, with Father Frederick Brost officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood, Mich.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 until the time of the service.
Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
Matthew Mathias was born April 4, 1988 in St. Paul, Minn., to Paul Lawrence and Mary Beth (Gayan) Mathias. The family moved to Butternut in 1993 where he attended kindergarten at St. Anthony's Catholic Grade School. He then attended Butternut Elementary School. In 2002 the family moved to Montreal and he graduated from Hurley High School in 2007. He moved to Medford in May 2008 to live with his father. He had been employed by Highline Corp. and most recently by MTA Communications in Medford.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was also a server, serving his last mass on Sunday, Aug. 17. He was also a member of Teens for Life, Schoenstatt and Holy Rosary Youth Group.
He was active in basketball and football, and was an exuberant fan, always cheering on his favorite teams, the Hurley Midgets and the Green Bay Packers. A very special moment in his life was the year he was voted homecoming king at Hurley High School.
Survivors include his father, Paul L. (Jacqueline) of Medford; his mother Mary Beth Mathias of Montreal; two sisters, Rebecca and Elizabeth of Montreal; a brother, David of Montreal; a half brother, Paul Lawrence Mathias II of Medford; a stepsister, Andrea Duarte of Medford; two stepbrothers, Andres and Brandon Duarte of St. Paul, Minn.; paternal grandparents, Glenn and Darlene Mathias of Rib Lake; numerous aunts and uncles; cousins; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leo and Lois Gayan.

Robert Retzer
1921-2008
Robert H. Retzer, 87, Medford, died Sunday, Aug. 17 at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 20 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. Peter Warmanen officiating. Interment was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II with full military rites performed by the Medford Military Honors Team. Active pallbearers were Dan Barron, Ronald Jackson, Dennis Jones, Galen Messmann and David and John Poulter. Honorary pallbearers were Hugo DeJong, Joseph Meyer and Walter Schoepke.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
Robert Retzer was born March 18, 1921 in Superior to the late Henry and Laura (Nicholson) Retzer. He attended schools in the Superior area and graduated from Superior East High School in 1939. He began studies at Wisconsin State College-Superior in 1939, but his studies were interrupted by his service in the United States Army. He served in the Army Signal Corps in the Philippines during World War II from March 1943 to January 1946. He then returned to Wisconsin to attend UW-Superior where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1946. He also received a Master of Education degree in administration in 1954.
On July 9, 1949 in Barron, he married Marjorie Caldwell, who survives. He started working for Medford Public Schools in January 1947 where he worked as a high school math and science teacher for 38 years, retiring in 1985. He served as head of the math department, and for many years was in charge of the high school annual, as well as serving as the high school attendance officer.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and was a member of the Lutheran Men's Group; was a charter member of the American Cancer Society of Taylor County; served as secretary of the City of Medford's first Police and Fire Commission; worked for many years as a poll worker during elections in the city; and was a member of the Medford Education Association, Wisconsin Education Association Council, National Education Association and a charter member of Medford Area Retired Teachers Association.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Cathy Retzer of Medford, Todd (Kathleen) of Hager City and Nancy (Dennis) Jones of Sheboygan Falls; a sister, Joyce Brighum of Milwaukee; a granddaughter, Christina (Paul) Dickson of Onamia, Minn.; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Eric and Jennifer Dickson of Onamia; nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Merlyn in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to his family to be determined at a later date.

Henryetta Rust
1917-2008
Henryetta R. Rust, 91, Milwaukee, died Tuesday, Aug. 12. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Pastor Pete Warmanen officiating. Burial will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II, with graveside military rites performed by the Medford Honors Team.
Hartson Funeral Home of Hales Corners assisted the family with arrangements.
She served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra (Arthur Malone) Dercole of Milwaukee; two sisters, Charlotte Bielke and Margaret Howe; two grandchildren, Kim Chaffin and Jeffrey (Karen) Dercole; and four great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Casey Chaffin and Anthony and Vincent Dercole.
