Stella Kowalczyk
1922-2008
Stella Kowalczyk, 85, Gilman, died Saturday, Aug. 30 at her home, while under the care of Hope Hospice. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 3 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, with Father Frederick Brost officiating. Burial was at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
Plombon Funeral Service of Stanley assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Stella Marucha was born December 27, 1922 in Radisson, the daughter of the late Stanley and Jennie (Wojciechowski) Marucha.
On June 13, 1942 she married Edward Kowalczyk in Chicago, Ill. They settled in the Town of Ford and have lived there since. She was a member of the Western Taylor County American Legion Unit No. 359 for 53 years, in which she served as president for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Edward; five children, Joseph (Catherine) of Chicago, lll., Eugene (Jeanie) of White Bear Lake, Minn., Edith Raether of Jefferson, Daniel (Susan) of Gilman and Jenny (Bill) Mengel of Stevens Point; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Felix Marucha of Baltimore, Md. and Carl (Janet) Marucha of Fox Lake; and two sisters, Isabel Stoey of Detroit, Mich., and Josephine (Frank) Czech of Chicago.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Stanley; and two brothers, Peter and John Marucha.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hope Hospice are suggested.

Louis Voigt
1985-2008
Louis "Louie" R. Voigt, 22, Stetsonville, died Thursday, Aug. 28 at St. Joseph's Hospital emergency room in Marshfield, where he had been taken earlier by ambulance. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 2 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Rev. Joel Danner officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Mat Rampart, Robert Wendt Jr., Mike Lamberty and Craig Pfaff.
Louis Voigt was born September 5, 1985 in Merrill to Richard and Peggy Voigt. He attended Merrill elementary schools and was a 2004 graduate of Medford Area Senior High. After his education he worked as a farmhand at area farms and also at Heartland Co-op in Dorchester, for his family at Schult's Country Inn in Merrill and Equity Livestock in Stratford. At the time of his death he was working at Seubert Inc. of Dorchester.
He was a member of North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, animals, farming, sausage making and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his maternal parents, Peggy and Mark Brecke of Stetsonville; paternal father, Richard Voigt of Wausau; maternal grandparents, Donald and Darlene Keeser of Merrill; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Voigt of Wausau; maternal stepgrandparents, Myron "Mike" and Sharon Brecke of Curtiss; a stepbrother, Christopher Brecke of Stetsonville; a stepsister, Stephanie Brecke of Stetsonville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the family for a future designation.

Cecilia Olson
1916-2008
Cecilia "Granny Fox" Teckla Olson, 92, Chelsea, died Sunday, Aug. 24 at Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake, under the care of Hope Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 29 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Interment will be at Chelsea Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark, David and John Olson, Allan and Jeff Eisner, Peter Faude and Mike, Matt and Justin Olson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 28 from 4 to 7:30 p.m at Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home in Rib Lake with a VFW Auxiliary service at 6 p.m. and a parish prayer service and rosary at 7:30 p.m., and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
The former Cecilia Poehnelt, known as "Granny Fox" to most people, was born August 15, 1916 in Chelsea to the late Julius and Anna (Ramshugler) Poehnelt. She attended Winding Brook School through seventh grade.
On July 14, 1937 in Medford at Holy Rosary Rectory, she married Albert C. Olson, who preceded her in death. She had been employed at the Rib Lake Cheese Factory for eight years, at the Rib Lake Nursing Home for one year as a cook and had been employed for 21 years at Weather Shield.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a past member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church where she took care of the altar linens, and the altar for many years. She volunteered for 35 years at the Medford VFW; for 25 years at The Little Store; and for 21 years with Hope Hospice where she assisted in patient sitting and writing thank you notes. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and embroidery. She made numerous pairs of mittens, afghans and sets of dishtowels.

Survivors include a son and two daughters-in-law, Leroy "Butch" (Doredda) Olson of Chelsea and Karen Olson of Westboro; two daughters and one son-in-law, Pat Faude of Medford and Rita (Chuck) Eisner of Rib Lake; three brothers, Clement of Eden, N.Y., Max of California and Matt of Holcombe; a sister, Sr. Stanislaus, a resident of the Bell Tower, Merrill; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and other relatives and friends. She is further survived by her adopted granddaughter, Katie Noziska.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Tom on April 12, 2008; a grandson, Charles Eisner in 1998; a sister, Kathryn "Kate" (Joseph) Plasil; two brothers, Anthony "Tony" and Victor; three sisters-in-law, Harriet, Dorothy and Shirley Poehnelt; and four nephews, James Poehnelt, Leslie Poehnelt, Gene Wendly and Bruce Plasil.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be given to Holy Rosary Catholic School or Hope Hospice.

Steven Klingbeil
1961-2008
Steven J. Klingbeil, 47, Medford, died Monday, Aug. 25 of natural causes, at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating. Cremainal inurnment will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Steven Klingbeil was born April 22, 1961 in Medford to Reinhard and Audrey (Wesle) Klingbeil of Medford. He attended Holy Rosary School, was a 1979 graduate of Medford High School and attended Wisconsin Gateway Technical College-Kenosha School of Horticulture.
He opened The Flower Gallery when he was 22 and was in business for 26 years. The Flower Gallery was unique and truly as his store motto stated was "For those not content with the ordinary." He received a senior certificate in Floral Design from FTD. He was the first to utilize the Medford Area School-to-Work Program, offering several high school students over the years an opportunity to learn and work at his store.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church; Big Brothers/Big Sisters where he was a Big Brother for Josh Fleischman; was a founding member of the Medford Downtown Business Association; and a member and served on the board of the Medford Area Community Theater, and performed in "Arsenic and Old Lace" and "The Jerk."
He was a gentle, soft-spoken man who loved his family, friends and dog, Eartha. He had a passion for gardening, landscaping and cooking.
Survivors include his parents; brothers and sisters, Mary (John) Raedel of Eau Claire, Bill (Margie), Mike (Sandra), Daniel and Tim (Tracy), all of Medford, Nancy (Pat) Perini of Columbus, Ohio, and Diane (Jim) Ertl of Rosemount, Minn.; his life partner, Nick Corriere of Minneapolis, Minn.; five nieces and six nephews; a great-nephew; and other relatives and friends.
Memorials can be made in his name to Black River Industries.

Elizabeth Epson
1918-2008
Former Medford resident Elizabeth A. Epson, 90, Wausau, died Wednesday, Aug. 20 at Colonial Manor in Wausau. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Aug. 26 at Medford United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dennis Govier officiating. Inurnment of her cremated remains took place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.

Frank Decker
1916-2008
Frank J. Decker, age 92, of the Town of Little Black in Taylor County, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008 at the Golden LivingCenter-Continental Manor in Abbotsford. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Father Gerard Willger officiated. Burial was at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Frank was born on February 26, 1916 to Peter and Krezenz (Hiegel) Decker in the Town of Little Black in Taylor County. He attended Liberty School in Little Black and graduated from the eighth grade. After grade school Frank continued to work on the homestead farm which later became Frank's and his wife's farm.
Frank married Neva O. Sulik on May 28, 1941 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Together they continued to farm and raise their family. Frank also was employed at Meyer Machine Shop in Dorchester where he worked as an engineer and designer for over 40 years. Frank was instrumental in developing the first Meyer Self-Unloading Forage Box. Frank and Neva also had maintained a milk hauling operation in the Dorchester area.
In his spare time Frank enjoyed fishing and hunting and cutting and splitting wood. Frank was a man of few words however his expression, "Work hard, its good for you," is fondly remembered by his children. Frank was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters for over 75 years.
Frank is lovingly survived by his children, Michael (Connie) Decker of Dorchester, Fred (special friend Darlene Anderson) Decker of Medford, Frank (Judy) Decker of Schofield, Kristine (Roger) Ellenbecker of Allenton, Rachel Louret of Medford and Claudette (special friend Wayne Krug) Saladin of Dorchester; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a sister, Charlotte Habermeyer of Stetsonville; and a brother, Clarence Decker of Colby. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers; and five sisters.
In lieu of flowers, Frank's family has asked that memorials in their father's name be given to the Clark County Humane Society in Neillsville, or memorials may be given to the family which will be donated to various charities of the family's choosing.

Elaine Bormann
1920-2008
Elaine M. Bormann, 88, Medford, died Friday, Sept. 26 at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford, where she had resided the past year. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 30 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Medford, with Pastor Peter Warmanen officiating. Interment was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Pallbearers were Tyler Bormann, Luke Petersen, Rod and Steven Premeau, Tom Fronk and Marty Cipar.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Elaine Krueger was born January 28, 1920 in Detroit, Mich., to the late Arthur and Olga (Kissman) Krueger. She attended Medford area elementary schools and was a graduate of Medford High School.
On June 17, 1946 in Iowa she married Melvin "Mac" W. Bormann, who preceded her in death on June 19, 1980. She worked most of her life as a homemaker and mother, and also at Highway Cleaners in Medford and Hurd Millwork in Medford until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was a choir member for over 50 years, and a past member of Medford VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed growing plants, especially violets, and also embroidery work.
Survivors include a son, Danny of Medford; five daughters, Patsy (Lee) Paustenbach, Becky Petersen, Sue (John) Winter and Julie (Sam) Scott, all of Medford, and Mary Lynn (Michael) Premeau of Norwalk; two sisters, Elsie (Vic) Zirngible of Medford and Carol ("Hank") Spencer of Crandon; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joey Paustenbach in 1994; nine brothers and sisters, Lester, Dick, Bob, Don, Julia Krueger, Wanda Foss, Mary Bracker, and Leslie and Ardis Krueger in infancy; and a son-in-law, Jerry Petersen in 2001.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name to St. Paul's Lutheran Church building fund.

Betty Glennon
1929-2008
Betty L. Glennon, 79, West Bend, died Sunday, Sept. 28 at St. Joseph's Hospital in West Bend. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend, with Rev. Rich Vincent officiating. Cremation will follow with inurnment in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
Myrhum-Patten Funeral and Cremation Service of West Bend assisted the family with arrangements.
