Reuben Schauss
1920-2008
Reuben E. Schauss, 88, Boulder Junction, died Sunday, Oct. 26 at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 30 at at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boulder Junction. Interment with military honors will be at the Cemetery of the Pines in Boulder Junction.
Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Bolger Funeral Home of Minocqua and Woodruff assisted the family with arrangements.

Dorothea Steinman
1916-2008
Dorothea Alvina Steinman, 92, Rib Lake, died Wednesday, Oct. 22 at the Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 27 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Greenwood, with Rev. Carl Busse officiating. Interment was at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in the Town of Greenwood. Pallbearers were David Dassow, Fred Klein, Mike Osowski, Steve Langteau, Roger Steinman and Gary Steinman.
Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Dorothea Kraus was born March 7, 1916 in the Town of Greenwood to the late Benjamin and Meta (Pollack) Kraus on the Kraus family homestead. She attended Green Grove Graded School, was a 1934 graduate of Medford High School and was a 1935 graduate of Taylor County Normal School.
On December 19, 1936 at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church parsonage in Rib Lake, she married Herbert Fred Steinman, who preceded her in death on March 3, 1989. She taught in many one room schools, including Buddy, Highland, Green Grove, Green Meadow and Rib River Graded Schools, as well as practice teaching at Fawn Valley Graded School.
She was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years, and former member of the Little Bohemia Ladies Bowling League, bowling for the "Highway C's." She was also the scorekeeper and statistician for Interwald baseball for many years. She enjoyed gardening, reading and knitting.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanette (Robert) Edelburg Sr. of the Town of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Kathy (Steve) Langteau of Stetsonville, Robert S. (Lori) Edelburg of the Town of Greenwood, Shirley (Mike Osowski) Edelburg of Minto, N.D., Roger (Beth) Edelburg of De Pere and Gary (Patty) Edelburg of Scandinavia; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be given to Mission to the Children or to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church Sunday school program.

Robert Dassow Sr.
1932-2008
Robert Walter Dassow Sr., 76, Medford, died Saturday, Oct. 11 at his home. Private services will be held.
Robert Dassow was born January 16, 1932 to the late Henry and Bertha (Barkow) Dassow Sr.
On June 26, 1954 he married Betty Marie Rochester, who preceded him in death on September 18, 2005. He spent most of his working years as a logger.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, playing his guitar, hiking in the woods, his animals and helping his family whenever they called. He especially loved his two cats, Tuffy and Reggie.
Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Richert, Susie Holzl and Donna (Don) Kalmon, all of Medford; two sons, Robert Jr. (Gail) and Robin (Jeany), both of Medford; two sisters, Darlene Drager and Ardella (Herman) Dohrwardt, both of Medford; four brothers, Alvin Sr. (Mary Ann), Harold Sr. (Marion), Arnold and Henry Jr. (Janice), all of Medford; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelly) Dassow, Corey (Trisha) Dassow, Jordan Richert, Renee Voss, Randy Voss, Travis Holzl, Jake Dassow, Mindy Kalmon and Mandi Kalmon, all of Medford, and Amy (Matt) Malovrh of Colby; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Gumz; four brothers, Donald, Ralph, Hilbert Sr. and Clarence; a grandson, Dustin Dassow; and a son-in-law, Marvin Richert.

Matilda Mueller
1913-2008
Matilda M. Mueller, age 95 years, of Medford, formerly of Dorchester, died Saturday, Oct. 18 at Our House Assisted Living in Medford, under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Oct. 21 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville,with the Rev. Frederick J. Brost officiating. Burial was at the parish cemetery. Serving as her pallbearers were Mark and Ken Riegert, Steve Hasenohrl, and Joseph, Jason and Don Cypher.
Matilda was born September 24, 1913 on the family farm in Stetsonville to Reynold and Josephine (Vogt) Riegert. She attended grade school at Pleasant Valley School in Stetsonville. She graduated from Dorchester High School and continued her education at Taylor County Normal School in Medford, where she attained her teaching degree. She began teaching at Larson School in the Town of Holway in Taylor County.
Matilda was married to Joseph Mueller on September 27, 1937 in Stetsonville. She and Joseph moved to Milwaukee and while living there she worked at various jobs in the area. In 1971 they moved to Marshfield for one year and then settled in Dorchester. Matilda entered Our House Assisted Living in Medford in February 2004 and resided there until the time of her death.
Matilda loved being with family and playing cards. She enjoyed working in her garden with her flowers, and shopping. She is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, and a former member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester.
Matilda is survived by a sister, Rose Riegert of Stetsonville, and a brother, Edward (Norma) Riegert of Medford. She is further survived by nieces and nephews, Sharon (Joe) Cypher of Medford, Mike Riegert of Stetsonville, Judy (Steve) Hasenohrl of Rapid City, S.D., Mark (Pam) Riegert of Medford; two great-nieces and two great-nephews; one great-great-niece and one great-great-nephew.
The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford assisted the family with arrangements.

Ernest Neitzel
1910-2008
Ernest E. Neitzel, 98, Owen, died Thursday, Oct. 16 at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, where he had resided the past two years, while under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice of Marshfield. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 20 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Curtiss, with Rev. Rebekah Tarras officiating. Interment was at Pine Hill Cemetery in Curtiss. Honorary pallbearers were all his great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Mark, Dane, Ernest and Troy Jensen, David Fischer and Steve Thomas.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
Ernest Neitzel was born August 8, 1910 in the Town of Holway to the late Charles and Caroline (Ried) Neitzel. He attended Golden Willow School in the Town of Holway. He worked for H.A. Liberty as a farmer, and also worked as a lumberman in the Westboro area.
On September 23, 1936 in Dorchester, he married Adeline Hamm, who survives. He farmed in the Town of Hoard for many years from 1934 until his retirement in 1972. While farming, he did woods work and operated a blacksmith shop. He also did custom plowing and bailing of hay for farmers. In April of 2006 he entered Clark County Health Care Center.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening.
In addition to his wife of 72 years, survivors include a daughter, Vera (Bruce) Jensen of Dorchester; two sisters, Anne Hamus of Colby and Mildred Hamm of Curtiss; a brother, Walter "Pete" of West Plains, Mo.; four grandchildren, Marie (Steve) Thomas of Delano, Minn., Dale Jensen of Curtiss, Mark (Tammy) Jensen of Medford, and Dane (Lorean) Jensen of Dorchester; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Smith, Hilda Borski and Lilly Sann; and three brothers, Elmer, Charles and Clifford.

Helen Quednow
1921-2008
Helen Catherine Quednow, 87, Medford, died Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Memorial Health Center in Medford. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 20 at St. John Catholic Church in Prentice, with Father Gerald Hagen officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake.
Heindl Funeral Home of Prentice assisted the family with arrangements.

Daniel Skripjok
1942-2008
Daniel Jerome Skripjok, 66, Lublin, died Monday, Oct. 20 at Memorial Health Center in Medford. No services will be held.
Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Joseph Milas
1929-2008
Joseph A. Milas, 78, Lublin, died Saturday, Oct. 11 at his home. A memorial service will be held November 1 at 2 p.m. at Gilman Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to services.

Lloyd Barker
1928-2008
Former Town of Holway and Medford resident Lloyd W. Barker, 80, Belle Fourche, S.D., died Sunday, Oct. 5 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in South Dakota. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 9 at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche. Inurnment was at Memorial Gardens in Cheyenne, Wyo.
Hemer Funeral Service assisted the family with local arrangements.

Robert Dassow Sr.
Robert Dassow Sr., 76, Medford, died Saturday, Oct. 11. Funeral services are pending.

Lester Kloth
1919-2008
Lester H. Kloth, age 89, of Dorchester, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Burial will be in the Dorchester Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester, and again on Friday one hour prior to service time.
Mr. Kloth was born February 11, 1919 in Medford, Wis., the son of Henry and Mary (Heinz) Kloth. He attended the Barry School in the Town of Holton. Lester then worked in his father's cheese factory in the Town of Holton, and later at the Parson's Cheese Factory.
On March 23, 1940 in Hales Corners, Wis., Lester was united in marriage to the former Gertrude Schwartz. Following their marriage Lester worked on the Schwartz family farm, which the couple later purchased. In addition to farming, Mr. Kloth worked as a mechanic at the Seidel Brothers Garage in Dorchester. He then worked as a welder for Northern Star Mobile Homes in Stratford, and retired from Dorchester Towers in 1978. In retirement Lester drove the road grader and snowplow for the Town of Holton for many years.
Lester was the neighborhood fix-it-man; he enjoyed recycling and reusing scrap and salvaged items. He loved being outdoors fishing, hunting and snowmobiling and riding his 3-wheeler around the farm.
Mr. Kloth is lovingly survived by his wife, Gertrude of Dorchester; his children; Kenneth (Bonnie) Kloth of Merrill, Ruthann (James) Maw of Finger, Tenn., Jerry (Marlene) Kloth of Wausau, Bonnie (Robert) Svoboda of Colby, Lyle (LuAnn) Kloth of Dorchester and Jesse Kloth of Dorchester; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Evelyn Denzin of Wausau, Joyce Kloth of Wausau and Barbara (Robert) Umnus of Wausau, further survive Lester.
One son, David; a granddaughter, Crystal; a great grandson, Ricky; and a brother, Melvin, preceded Mr. Kloth in death.

Pearl Liazuk
1913-2008
Pearl M. Liazuk, 94, Stanley, died Monday, Oct. 13 at Chippewa Manor. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stanley, with Father Robert Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Gilman.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley, with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service.
The former Pearl Nichols was born November 3, 1913 in Lena, Ill., to the late Henry and Caroline (Paul) Nichols. As a young girl she moved to the Wisconsin Dells area and later to Gilman where she grew up and attended area schools.
On May 26, 1936 in Medford, she married Walter Liazuk, who preceded her in death in 2001. They lived in Gilman and Thorp before moving to Stanley in 1956 where they owned and operated Liazuk's Bar and Cafe for many years. She later worked as a nurse's aide for Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley.
She was a long time member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children, Dean of Eau Claire, Darlene (Dale) Tieman of Wausaukee, Wanda Tramm of Staples, Minn., Duane (Barbara) of Fond du Lac, Dale (Suzanne) of Oconomowoc and Dae (Richard) Jacobson of Stanley; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Alois Olichwier of Bloomer; nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Gladys Lund.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Olichwier in 2007; a brother, Charles; and a sister, Goldene Hartzell.
