William Bereza
1915-2008
William Bereza, 93, Lublin, died Saturday, Sept. 6 at Gilman Care Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Thorp Funeral Home, with Father Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary service, and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Juanita Gabriel
1919-2008
Juanita M. "Peg" Gabriel, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 of heart failure at the New Glarus Home. She was born to Irl and Helen (Byrne) Lemmon in the foothills of West Virginia in 1919. Having grown up in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, she was married to John Gabriel on October 17, 1938 in Milwaukee. Juanita lived most of her adult life in Tomahawk, Medford, Monroe and finally New Glarus while spending many winters in Lakeland, Fla., where she was a founder of the "Merry Widows" group.
She leaves to mourn her, a son, Tom (Debbie) Gabriel and daughter, Juanita Kielley (Jerry) Dahlen; her grandchildren, Erin (Robb) Schiesl, Carrie (Mike) Lawlor and Tony (Heidi) Gabriel; her great-grandchildren, Nadia and Kyla Schiesl and baby Aidan Lawlor; and a special niece, Patty. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and all of her siblings.
Juanita "Peggy" was a joy to know. She attacked life with wit, wisdom, sass and humor. She was an Irish lass to the core — though there is still the question as to whether it was really Irish or actually Norwegian. Regardless, there was never a better wife, mother or friend. She will truly be missed.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 6 at Primrose Lutheran Church in Belleville, with the Rev. Nicole Espe officiating. Juanita was entombed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee following the services.
A memorial fund to establish a scholarship at the New Glarus Public Schools has been established.
Mom had a great life: we mourn her passing but thank God for her almost 90 years. Rest in peace, Peggy Weggy.
The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus assisted the family with arrangements.

David Korallus
1958-2008
David "Dave" H. Korallus, 49, Curtiss, died Sunday, Sept. 7 at Memorial Health Center in Medford where he had been taken earlier by ambulance. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Lisle, Ill. Interment will be at Bethania Cemetery in Justice, Ill. Pallbearers will be John Korallus, John Bryan, Hughie Vyse, Rodney Ritchie, Tom Tully and Carl Fowlkes.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.

Vlasta Resudek
1919-2008
Vlasta Resudek, 89, Rib Lake, died Wednesday, Sept. 3 at Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Sept. 6 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake, with Father Otto Bucher O.F.M. Cap officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Active pallbearers were David Koller, Ray Mosser, Rod Fallos, Jerry Stellbrink, Fred Rechter, Jim Fill, Dustin Bushman and Jeff Kalander. Honorary pallbearers were Russ Schlosser, Craig Schlosser, Bryan Mogensen and Darren Mogensen.
Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Vlasta Vlach was born March 24, 1919 to the late James and Dora (Kapitz) Vlach. She attended Ward Graded School and Rib Lake High School. She moved to Illinois and was employed in the Chicago, Ill. area.
She moved back to Rib Lake and on September 25, 1943 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rib Lake, married Stanley B. Resudek, who preceded her in death in 1997. She was employed for 35 years at Gem Products in Rib Lake.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and was a Christian Mother and member of the ladies bowling league at Little Bohemia in Rib Lake. She enjoyed polka music, taking care of her brothers, cooking, baking, playing cards and visiting with friends and family.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley of Rib Lake and James (Barb) of Rib Lake; four daughters, Mary Ann Mogensen of Milwaukee, Nancy (Russell) Schlosser of Plover, Joann (David) Koller of Muskego and Cathy (Ray) Mosser of Hales Corners; eight grandchildren Bryan (Brooke) Mogensen of Phoenix, Ariz., Darren Mogensen of Milwaukee, Jennie (Fred) Rechter of Saukville, Craig Schlosser of Plover, Danielle Koller of Muskego, Katie Mosser of Hales Corners, Jenifer (Jeff) Kalander of Prentice and Brenda (Dustin) Bushman of Kennan; four great-grandchildren, Jack and Jason Mogensen of Phoenix and Olivia and Avery Bushman of Kennan; three sisters-in-law, Esta Mae Vlach and Irma Vlach, both of Rib Lake, and Donna Sipla of Coloma, Mich.; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 11 brothers, Rudolph and James Vlach at birth, Frank (Olive) Vlach, Adolph (Margaret) Vlach, Fred Vlach, Joseph Vlach, Jim Vlach, Dan Vlach, Andrew Sipla, Lloydie Vlach and Emil Vlach.

Mary Vircks
Medford native, Mary L. Vircks, 63, Milwaukee, died Sunday, Sept. 7. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 11 at noon at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Prasser-Kleczka Bay View Chapel of Milwaukee assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Mary Marschner was born in Medford to the late Lawrence and Eila Anne Marschner. She worked as a medical assistant for Drs. Saluja and Shivram, and previously for Drs. Soni and Apte.
She was a dedicated member of St. Lucas Church where she served on the building and grounds committee, and was past president of the Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed gardening, camping, softball, and the Bucks and Brewers.
Survivors include her husband, Warren of Milwaukee; her son, Rory; four sisters, Mona (Ronald) Anderson, Suzanne (James) Freimund, Unetta (Roger Gumz) Unger and Cheri (Michael) Plooy; mother-in-law, Audrey Vircks of Medford; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald (Marlene), Jane (Robert) Potter, Steven (Nancy), Suzanne (Glenn) Goessl, Phyllis, Marilyn (Daniel) Shereda, Richard (Deborah) and Clayton (Cheryl) Vircks; nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marylee.
Memorials are appreciated to St. Lucas Church Basement Renovation Fund.

Lawrence Boxrucker
1917-1941
Lawrence A. Boxrucker, formerly of Dorchester, died December 7, 1941 in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. His repatriated remains will finally be laid to rest on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Benjamin Franklin will conduct the committal services at the cemetery on Saturday.
Lawrence was born November 10, 1917 in the Town of Little Black in Taylor County to John and Mary (Pueschner) Boxrucker. He attended Liberty country school in the town of Little Black until the eighth grade. After that, Lawrence worked at various farms in the area. Later he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps at Jump River and Rhinelander. Lawrence and his twin brother, Louis, headed west to Oregon in order to find work. No work was to be found, so they traveled to San Francisco, Calif., where Lawrence and his brother joined the Navy in 1940. Lawrence and his brother were assigned to different positions in the Navy. Lawrence was stationed on the USS Oklahoma as a Fireman 2nd Class. The USS Oklahoma was part of the United States Pacific Fleet based at Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu, Territory of Hawaii. On December 7, 1941 a fleet of Japanese carriers launched an air strike against the Pacific Fleet. Lawrence, along with 428 other sailors on board the USS Oklahoma, died that day.
Lawrence is survived by two brothers, Louis (Hilda) Boxrucker of Dorchester and Arthur (Celine) Boxrucker of Prairie du Chien. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Lawrence's parents and his sister Helen Langteau are deceased.
Local veterans organizations wishing to attend the committal services at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery and pay their respects to their fallen comrade should contact Ken Patterson of the Boxrucker-Berry American Legion Post. No. 519 of Stetsonville for further information.

Anna Grajek
1911-2008
Anna Grajek, 97, Lublin, died Friday, Aug. 29 at Our Lady Victory Hospital in Stanley. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 3 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin, with Father John Long officiating. Burial was at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.
Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Anna Kwiatkowski was born June 6, 1911 in Springfield, Ill. to the late Martin and Hedwig (Kaczmarek) Kwiatkowski. As a young girl she moved to the Lublin area where she attended Clark School near Withee. Following her education she lived and worked in Chicago, Ill. at a candy factory.
On September 21, 1930 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin, she married Anton Grajek, who preceded her in death on July 3, 1988. They farmed in the Lublin area, retiring in the late 1960s.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, and served as secretary and treasurer for many years. She also cooked for weddings and funerals. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers and trips out west.
Survivors include her children, Leonard of West Allis, Richard (Rosemarie) of Manitowoc and Carol Pawlicki of Thorp; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Rose Wellner, Joanne Pfeiffer and Sophie Kacher; and a grandson, Douglas Pawlicki on January 7, 1990.

Mary Neder
1943-2008
Mary E. Neder, 65, Waukesha, died Friday, Aug. 29 at Muskego Health Care Center. A funeral mass was held Wednesday, Sept. 3 at St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha. Private entombment took place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Waukesha.
Cesarz, Charapata and Zinnecker Funeral Home of Waukesha assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Mary Gier was born March 14, 1943 in Milwaukee to the late Johan and Cecilia (Peters) Gier.
On August 3, 1963 she married David Neder, of Medford, who survives. She worked at the Boston Store in children's clothing.
She was a member of St. William Catholic Church and Christian Mothers, and was active with Brownie and Girl Scout troops.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her children, Karen Neder of Madison, Ann (Philip) Schmidt of Marshall, Patricia Neder of Atlanta, Ga., Josephine (Andy) Korchmaros of Tucson, Ariz., Martha (Keith) Miller of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Edward Neder of Waukesha and Matthew (Patty) Neder of Watertown; brothers, Karl Gier of Waukesha, Rita (Jim) Good of Euclid, Ohio, Fred Gier of Eagle and John (Margie) Gier of Dousman; mother-in-law and godmother, Cathrine (Neder) Brown of Croften, Md.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron Neder of Modesto, Calif., Chuck Neder of San Jose, Calif., Mary (Lindsey) Ervin of Davidsonville, Md., and Paul (Karen) Neder of Rock Island, Ill.; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Christopher.
Memorials in her name may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association of Milwaukee.

Stella Kowalczyk
1922-2008
Stella Kowalczyk, 85, Gilman, died Saturday, Aug. 30 at her home, while under the care of Hope Hospice. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 3 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, with Father Frederick Brost officiating. Burial was at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
Plombon Funeral Service of Stanley assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Stella Marucha was born December 27, 1922 in Radisson, the daughter of the late Stanley and Jennie (Wojciechowski) Marucha.
On June 13, 1942 she married Edward Kowalczyk in Chicago, Ill. They settled in the Town of Ford and have lived there since. She was a member of the Western Taylor County American Legion Unit No. 359 for 53 years, in which she served as president for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Edward; five children, Joseph (Catherine) of Chicago, lll., Eugene (Jeanie) of White Bear Lake, Minn., Edith Raether of Jefferson, Daniel (Susan) of Gilman and Jenny (Bill) Mengel of Stevens Point; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Felix Marucha of Baltimore, Md. and Carl (Janet) Marucha of Fox Lake; and two sisters, Isabel Stoey of Detroit, Mich., and Josephine (Frank) Czech of Chicago.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Stanley; and two brothers, Peter and John Marucha.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hope Hospice are suggested.

Louis Voigt
1985-2008
Louis "Louie" R. Voigt, 22, Stetsonville, died Thursday, Aug. 28 at St. Joseph's Hospital emergency room in Marshfield, where he had been taken earlier by ambulance. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 2 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Rev. Joel Danner officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Mat Rampart, Robert Wendt Jr., Mike Lamberty and Craig Pfaff.
Louis Voigt was born September 5, 1985 in Merrill to Richard and Peggy Voigt. He attended Merrill elementary schools and was a 2004 graduate of Medford Area Senior High. After his education he worked as a farmhand at area farms and also at Heartland Co-op in Dorchester, for his family at Schult's Country Inn in Merrill and Equity Livestock in Stratford. At the time of his death he was working at Seubert Inc. of Dorchester.
He was a member of North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, animals, farming, sausage making and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his maternal parents, Peggy and Mark Brecke of Stetsonville; paternal father, Richard Voigt of Wausau; maternal grandparents, Donald and Darlene Keeser of Merrill; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Voigt of Wausau; maternal stepgrandparents, Myron "Mike" and Sharon Brecke of Curtiss; a stepbrother, Christopher Brecke of Stetsonville; a stepsister, Stephanie Brecke of Stetsonville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the family for a future designation.
