Verna Zimmerman
Of Waukesha. Born on March 7, 1915 in Hillsboro, WI, the daughter of Charles and Lena (nee Hertzfeld) Atkinson, died on Sunday, April 11, 2004 at Heartland Health Care Center at the age of 89 years. She was a former Girl Scout leader and member of the Benjamin Goss Bird Club, and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and handicrafts.

She is survived by her children, Robert Zimmerman of California,
Donald (Carolyn) Zimmerman of Kentucky, Ann (Ted) Zick of Kentucky, Richard (Mary Anne) Zimmerman of Florida and John (Trudy) Zimmerman of Illinois; her 13 grandchildren, her 13 great grandchildren; her sisters, Pearl Zimmerman, Rose Tannis and Virginia Tannis; sister-in-law Pat Pfeiffer, brother-in-law Arthur Zimmerman, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernest and sister, Gladys.

A memorial service for Verna will be on Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 4:00 PM at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 2:00 PM until time of service. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Winston V. Grantham

Of Waukesha. Born on September 10, 1943 in Quitman, Texas, the son of Newton and Ruth (nee Thompson) Grantham, died on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 60 years. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Judy, whom he married on September 22, 1962, his daughters; Dorothy (Dave) Brelle of Waukesha, Shelli Grantham of Waukesha and Rhonda (Bob) Wiza of Mukwonago, his grandchildren; Trista Gerhartz, Ryan Gerhartz, Bobby Wiza, Daniel Brelle and Rebecca Brelle, his sister, Nita (Jimmy) Needham of Bridgeport, Texas, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Winston will be on Friday, January 16, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Pastor Glen Teasdale will officiate. A visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 10:00 am at Prairie Home Cemetery. Meet at the cemetery.

William John Hunkins, Jr.
William John Hunkins, Jr., of Waukesha, died on Monday, August 11, 2003 at Clement J. Zablocki Medical Center at the age of 82 years. William was born on September 2, 1920 the son of William J. and Angeline (nee Grant) Hunkins, Sr.. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Albert, John and Robert.

William will be sadly missed by his wife, Georgia, his children: Ellie (Dick) Zimmerman of Mukwonago, WI, Arnold Hunkins of Waukesha, WI, Rose Chopp of Oconomowoc, WI, Shorty (Terry) Hunkins of Waukesha, WI, Jerry Hunkins of Waukesha, WI., Tammy (Keith) Durand of Rhinelander, WI, 5 grandchildren: Jenny (Chris) Danks of Waukesha, WI, Keith Hunkins of Waukesha, WI, Kevin Hunkins of Waukesha, WI, Alex and Rebecca Durand of Rhinelander, WI, four great grandchildren, three sisters: Anna Boone of Waukesha, WI, Violet Lawton of Waukesha, WI, and Mae Vredenburg of California, and two brothers: Gene (Glenda) Hunkins of California and Clarence "Jack" (Beverly) Hunkins along with other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for William will be held on Friday, August 15, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Blvd. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. Private burial will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Susan Shafer
Susan Shafer, age 101, passed away April 14, 2003, in Waukesha, WI. She was born November 9, 1901 in Clark County near Marshall Illinois to Frederick C. Imle and Clara J. Coldren Imle. She grew up on a farm near Marshall, Illinois where life revolved around many relatives and the Emmanuel Evangelical (Grand Turn) Church.

In 1919, she moved with the Imle family to South Texas where she attended Donna High School, graduating as valedictorian of her class. She worked in a medical office until she met and married Victor Shafer, of Wisconsin, at the Methodist Church in Donna, Texas on June 20, 1923.

They made their home on the Shafer farm in Menomonie, Wisconsin until 1968 when they retired in Florida. Leaving Florida in 1986 they moved to Waukesha, WI to be near family.

Susan will be sadly missed by her daughters: Betty (Edward) Burns of Sacramento, CA: Joanne (Robert) Schneider of Hoffman Estates, IL: Judy (Glen) Jester of Waukesha, WI: her brother: Ernest ( Portia ) Imle of Adelphi, MD, her 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Victor, on July 4, 1990, and her infant daughter Jean Victoria. She is also preceded by her sister: Louise Imle Scott and three brothers: John Imle, Edgar Imle, and Harry Imle.

The Funeral Service to celebrate Susan's life will be held on Monday, April 21, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home at 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. Reverend Dwight R. Bastian will officiate. Friends may call on Monday from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Town of Lucas Cemetery near Menomonie, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the First United Methodist Church (121 Wisconsin Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186) or The Waukesha Memorial Hospital Foundation (725 American Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53188)

Adam A. "Boots" Schiller, Jr.

Lifelong resident of Waukesha died Thursday April 1, 2004 at Waukesha Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 80 years. Adam was born May 1, 1923 in Waukesha a son of Adam A. and Emma (nee Katzner) Schiller, Sr. He married Vera Bast on June 15, 1950 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Waukesha. He was an engineer for Waukesha Cutting Tools for over 30 years. Adam proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. He is a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Waukesha. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother; Frederick and his sister; Hazel.

Adam is survived by his wife of 54 years: Vera Schiller of Waukesha, his two sons: David Schiller of Elkhorn, Wisconsin and Fred Schiller of Waukesha, Wisconsin, a granddaughter: Christine Gluege of Waukesha, Wisconsin along with his sister: Sally Schiller of Greenfield, Wisconsin and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service celebrating Adam’s life will be held Monday April 5, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church (1052 Whiterock Avenue Waukesha). Friends may call at the church on Monday April 5 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Glen Schaumberg will be the officiant. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.

Louise C. Berkey

Louise C. (Holmes) Berkey, 98, of Waukesha, found peace on Friday, September 17, 2004, at Virginia Health & Rehabilitation Center. Louise was born on July 22, 1906, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lou and Sue (Butler) Conger. She was a former member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Milwaukee, and a member of St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Waukesha. Louise was a member of the National Board of Missions and was chosen as one of sixteen women to serve on the Executive Committee of the United Presbyterian Women for the entire United States.

Louise will be sadly missed by her children, Suzanne Dixon of Palatine, Illinois, Nancy Kunesh of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mavis (Michael) McGrath of Delafield, Wisconsin; her 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, G. Russell Holmes and her second husband, Dr. Earl Berkey.

The funeral service for Louise will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha, the Rev. James L. Wilch officiating. The visitation will be at St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. service. Burial will immediately follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Memorials are appreciated to St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53188, or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Bernice “Bunny” M. Lange (nee Evans)

Of Waukesha died on Saturday, July 17, 2004 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. Bunny was born on October 7, 1922 in Saskatchewan, Canada the daughter of Evan and Sarah (nee Sage) Evans. She was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, the Sarah Circle at church, the Welsh Women’s Society and a lifelong member of the Wisconsin Women’s Bowling Association. Bunny was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Lange, brothers, Gilbert, Ernest and Floyd Evans and sister, Elizabeth Evans.

Bunny will be sadly missed by her sons; David Lange of Los Angeles, CA, Charles “Bob” (Sybille) of Thornfield, MO, Steven (Kristi) Lange of Pewaukee and Scott (Allison) Lange of Waukesha; her grandchildren, Lisa, Sarah, Steven, Justin and Evan Lange, and Jamie (Tom) McIntosh; her great grandchildren, Ashley Petoskey, Parker Lange, and Kylie McIntosh, her brother, Harry (Milly) Evans of Ogema, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service for Bunny will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at 1:00 PM at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Waukesha. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and also on Thursday from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin.

Charles Herman “Toddy” Golemgeske

Longtime resident of Waukesha, died on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004 at Virginia Health Care Center at the age of 83 years. Charles was born the son of Charles F. and Anna (Knutson) Golemgeske on Auguest 2, 1921 in the town of Pewaukee. He was a member of the Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ. Charles worked for International Harvester for 33 years and retired in 1977. He proudly served during WW II in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion – Post # 8. He enjoyed his family and loved to do odd jobs and lawnmower repair.

Charles will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years, Inez (nee Wallich) his brother, Arnold (Fern) of Stone Bank his nephew, Charles (Jan) Betker of Waukesha nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his brothers, John, Roy and George. The family of Charles would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Virginia Health Care Center and the staff of Odyssey Hospice.

The funeral service for Charles will be held on Monday, September 13, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home. Rev. James Gorman will officiate. The visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with full military honors. Memorials are appreciated to the Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ 413 Wisconsin Ave. Waukesha or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Deborah L. Feight

Of Waukesha. Born on May 7, 1959 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Raymond and Rita (nee Loferski) Wujcik, died on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 45 years. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Robert.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Alan, whom she married on February 4, 1995, her children, Christina and Ryan Venne of Waukesha, her step-children, Britt and Clay Feight of Waukesha, her mother, Rita of Delafield, her granddaughter, Lexus Williams of Waukesha and step-grandson, Spencer of Waukesha, her sister, Suzanne of Delafield, her brothers, Donald (Hilary) of Tucson, AZ, Kenneth (Kathy) of Tucson, AZ and Greg of Milwaukee, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service for Deborah will be on Monday, July 26, 2004 at 1:00 pm at St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha. A visitation will be on Monday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery.

Donna J. Gugler

Donna J. Gugler, age 73 of Waukesha, died Friday March 19, 2004 at West Allis Memorial Hospital. She was born January 14, 1931 in Aurora, Illinois, a daughter of the late Clarence H. and Bernadine Audrey (nee Willard) Phillabaum. She graduated from Aurora High School and then went on to attend the University of Kansas and East Texas State University earning a degree in Art Education. On June 7, 1952 she married Clark L. Gugler in the Danforth Chapel on the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. She had been a substitute teacher in the Muskego and Waukesha School System. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waukesha and belonged to the Joy Circle at the church. She was also a member and past president of the Waukesha Women’s Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Caryl Phillips.

Donna will be missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Clark Gugler of Waukesha; her three children, Jeanette Louise Gugler of Raleigh, NC , Diane Leslie (Mark) Ebert of Appleton, WI, and Brian David (Gayle) Gugler of Waukesha, WI. She will also be missed by her four granddaughters, Michelle and Jessica Ebert of Appleton and Allison and Natalie Gugler of Waukesha, along with other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Donna will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Avenue in Waukesha. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Lyona Methodist Cemetery in Lyona, Kansas. Memorials in Donna’s name may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Waukesha. The Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home is serving the family.
