Virgina L. Schmidt
Virginia L. Schmidt, 56, of 416 2nd St., Oconto, died Friday November 17, 2000 at her home. Virginia was born August 16, 1944 in Oconto to the late Ralph and Lorena Marek Hall. Virginia worked at Riverside Health & Rehabilitation Center, Oconto, as a CNA for over fifteen years until she retired in April of 1999. Virginia loved watching and caring for all of her grandchildren. Virginia is survived by two daughters Stephanie Schmidt and special friend Curt Porath, Oconto; Kristine Marty Saffran, Abrams; two sons Craig Michele Schmidt, Oconto; Randy Penny Schmidt, Oconto; one brother Ralph Marlene Hall, Green Bay; and four grandchildren Taylor, Megan, Michael and Adam Schmidt. The family received relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday November 20, 2000, Tuesday, November 21, 2000 at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, from 9 to 10 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 10 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Thomas Beck officiating.

Geraldine E. McDowell
Geraldine E. McDowell, 84, Oconto, died Wednesday November 15, 2000 at Bay Shore Pines CBRF, Oconto. Geraldine was born July 22, 1916 in Oconto to the late John and Harriett Leigh Caldwell. She married Oliver McDowell on May 23, 1937. He preceded her in death in October of 1967. Geraldine worked at Great Lakes Shoe. Co. 17 years. She then worked as a reporter for the Green Bay Press Gazette from June 1, 1963 until her retirement on July 31, 1986. Geraldine was a member of the Presbyterian Guild and First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and Deacon. Geraldine is survived by three daughters Nancy Schmidt, Oconto; Patricia Meyer, Oconto; Carolyn William Peshek, Oconto; two sons Daniel Karen McDowell, Scandinavia; Thomas Jean McDowell, Scandinavia; one brother-in-law Ernest Theiss, Brookfield; twenty grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister Doris Theiss, two brothers Ralph Caldwell, Leigh Caldwell, one son-in-law Bill Meyer Jr. and a great granddaughter Kristen Ruechel. The family received relatives and friends at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Friday November 17, 2000. Funeral services were conducted Friday 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Thomas Beck officiating. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, assisted the family.

Wendy S. Seidl
Wendy S. Weiler Seidl, 42, Lakewood, WI, died as a result of an automobile accident on November 9, 2000. Wendy was born in Kaukauna on April 14, 1958, to Jack and Colleen A. Hoheisel Weiler. Wendy graduated from Kaukauna High School. She lived in that area most of her life but her heart was in the Lakewood area from the time she was a young girl. And so she finally moved to the Lakewood area in 1996. She was a member and a fire-fighter trainee of the Lakewood Volunteer Fire Dept. She was a bartender at the PourHaus in Lakewood. If there was a local benefit or fund-raiser, Wendy was sure to be involved. She enjoyed deer hunting very much. Wendy is survived by her fiancé, Donald Scheuerman, Lakewood; one daughter, Dana Seidl, at home; two sons, Ryan Mahony, at home; Dan DeCoster, Townsend; one stepdaughter, Stacy Scheuerman, Lakewood; one brother, Chris Terry Weiler, Tomahawk; two nieces, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Colleen Weiler; and a sister, Mary Kay. Visitation was at the Suminski Funeral Home, Wabeno. Funeral service was Monday, November 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Lakewood, with Father Stanley Browne officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers included Chief Raoul Schottky, Asst. Chief Dave Szkowny, John Warden, Randy Sackett, Greg Thomson, Pam Warden, Ginger Szkowny and Chris Thomson.

The family wishes that memorials be sent to the Lakewood Volunteer Fire Dept.

Frieda A. 'Kitty' Siech
Frieda A. 'Kitty' Siech, 88, Gillett, died Tuesday morning, November 7, 2000, at Community Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls. She was born April 29, 1912, in the Town of Gillett, to the late William and Natalie Wesner Seich. Kitty resided in Milwaukee, for about 50 years, and then moved to Gillett in 1987. She was employed as a welder at Milwaukee Chair Co., for 20 years. She was then employed by Helwigs Manufacturing Co., Milwaukee, until her retirement. Kitty was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Gillett. Survivors include two brothers, Walter Siech, Alfred Siech, both of Sheboygan; two sisters, Alma Fisher, Pauline Milhans, both of Gillett; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Kitty was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Bernard, and Ervin Siech; two sisters, Elizabeth Siech and Elsie Winkler. Friends called at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Gillett, Thursday, November 9, after 11 a.m. Funeral services were 1 p.m. Thursday, at the church, with the Rev. Dennis N. Nelson officiating. Interment in Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Gillett. Kuehl Funeral Home, Gillett assisted Kitty's family with arrangements.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials are requested for St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Gillett.

John M. Kuss Jr.
John M. Kuss Jr., 47, of Lakewood, WI, died tragically on the morning of November 9, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. John was born in Milwaukee on September 15, 1953, the son of John and Geraldine Stauffer Kuss. His family moved to the Lakewood area in 1961, and he graduated from Wabeno High School in 1971. After school, John served his country in the United States Navy, where he was an electrician and wireman onboard a destroyer. After an honorable discharge, John attended school to become a pilot and later went back to school to gain his license as a flight instructor. Using his electrical knowledge he gained in the Navy, John became an apprentice electrician for Edward Zebrasky of Maiden Lake Electric in Lakewood. While working for the Electrician's Union, John spent a lot of time traveling, spending most of his time in Alaska. There he met and married Lynn Silberstein on September 6, 1986, in Fairbanks. In 1988, they moved to Lakewood, and he started Lake and County Electric. John enjoyed many things in the time that he had. He was an active pilot and flying instructor who took to the sky whenever the opportunity came. He also loved to fish, especially for musky. Other things he enjoyed included airboating, water skiing, swimming, and watching the Packers. he will be missed not only by his family, but also by his large "extended family" of friends. John is survived by his wife, Lynn; one daughter, Janet Kuss, Townsend; three sons, Bob Kuss, Cail, CO; Marty Kuss, Townsend; Chris Kuss, at home; three sisters, Mary Allen Gardebrecht, Lakewood; Bonnie Chuck Nygard, Anchorage, AL; Carol Prasser, Green Bay; one brother, Bob Cheri Prasser, Lakewood; one brother-in-law, Robert Liz Silberstein, New York. John is further survived by his mother, Geraldine, numeorus nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Kuss Sr., and his stepfather, Jack Prasser. Friends called upon the family on Sunday, November 12, from noon until 2 p.m. at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Lakewood. Father Browne led the Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. Interment at the St. Mary of the Lakes Cemetery. Pallbearers included Allen Gardebrecht, Robert Prasser, Russell R. Geiter, Duane Schrieber, Dewey Schrieber, Phil Shopodock and Lou Stauffer. Suminski Funeral Home of Wabeno in charge of arrangements.

Emil 'Smokie' Urbanek
Emil 'Smokie' Urbanek, 78, Spruce died Tuesday, November 7, 2000. He was born on July 10, 1922 in Spruce to the late Joseph and Mary Urbanek. On June 23, 1951 Emil married the former Phyllis Gering. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2000. Smokie worked at Foral Motors, Unit Structures in Peshtigo, and then at Lon's Implement in Lena. He was a member of the Pulaski V.F.W. Survivors include one son, Lon Urbanek, Lena; one daughter, JoAnn Bob Trepanier, Green Bay; two granddaughters, Misti and Stacey both of Green Bay; one brother, Ed Urbanek, Spruce; one sister, Frances Norbert Pashauwer, Lena; and one step-sister, Mary Chernney, Alcorn. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cleo; three sisters, Christine Greeten, Josephine Kieth, and Alvina McDonald; two brothers, Fred Urbanek and Joe Hrabik. Friends called at the Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of the funeral. Funeral service was 12 noon Saturday at the Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Landwehr officiating. Interment at the Pine Hill Cemetery, Spruce.

Gaylord 'Bud' Zuleger
Gaylord 'Bud' Zuleger, 76, entered into eternal life on Friday, November 10, 2000 at his home, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with various illnesses. He was born on September 15, 1924 in the Town of Cicero, the son of the late Martin and Mary Peters Zuleger. On May 13, 1950 he married LaVerne Schinke in Appleton. Bud retired to Boundry Lake, Crivitz after working at Miller Electric Mfg. for 28 years. Bud was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He shared his skill and his knowledge with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He was also a WWII veteran and member of Tabor Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, and his youngest son, Scott. He is survived by his loving wife, Laverne; his two sons, Martin Zuleger of Appleton; Daniel Gina Zuleger of Boundry Lake; his sister, Violet Zuleger of Appleton; six grandchildren; as well as many relatives and friends. Bud's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service was held on Monday, November 13 at 11 a.m. at Tabor Lutheran Church, 14153 Church Rd., Mountain, WI. His family greeted relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. at the Church. Pastor Paul Scheunemann officiated with burial. Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home & Crematory, Crivitz, assisted the family.
Bud, you will be deeply missed by us all. You were a wonderul husband, father, grandpa and a friend to everyone who knew you. We love you and thank you for all your have done for us.

Alvin R. Jashinsky
Alvin R. Jashinsky, 68, of 9130 West Lake Drive, Pound died Friday, November 10, 2000 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay following a brief illness. The son of Adolph and Mabel Lentz Jashinsky was born July 6, 1932 in the Town of Brazeau. He graduated from Central High School in Milwaukee and entered the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. Alvin was married to the former Patricia A. Eckenrode on July 2, 1954 in Wadena, MN. The couple lived in Milwaukee where he was employed by Allis Chalmers Co. until retirement. They moved to White Potato Lake, Pound in 1982. Al was a member of the Moose Lodge, Milwaukee; the Kalbes-Seewald American Legion Post of Coleman; the Jerome Rouse VFW Post of Beaver and also the Coleman-Pound Lions Club. Surviving are his wife, Patricia; three children, Debbie Mike Feleniak of Milwaukee, Mike Stacy Burgau of West Bend, and Sheila Burgau Al Boyd of Waukesha; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one brother, Gerald Kay Jashinsky of New Berlin. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen. Friends called at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, November 12. Coleman-Pound Lions Club Service was held at 6 p.m. Sunday followed by a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. James Frisby officiated with burial in the First Baptist Cemetery, Pound. The American Legion and VFW conducted military rites at the cemetery.
