Elizabeth E. 'Elsie' Culver, 85, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, January 6, 2005 in her home.

She was born on May 3, 1919 in Praha, TX, the daughter of Joseph and Hattie Blahuta Raska. Elsie married Alvie Culver on January 14, 1944 in Houston, TX. He predeceased her on October 22, 1996.

Elsie was employed by Admiral Corp for almost 20 years. She later was a local housekeeper for 25 years. Elsie enjoyed going to rummage sales, baking, crocheting, collecting red dishes and gardening.

Survivors include her children, Kenneth (Shirley) Culver of Beloit, WI, Genneieve (Bob) Bargman of Machesney Park, IL, and Joan (Jim) Johns of Beloit, WI; 21 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; five brothers in Texas; three sisters in Texas; three daughters-in-law, Chris Culver, Terrie Culver and Sue Culver.

She was predeceased by her parents, three children, Michael, Arthur and Richard, one brother, one sister and a daughter-in-law, Pam.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2005 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Steve Kortendick officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Robert Coomer, 87 of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, December 16, 2004 at Beloit Health & Rehabilitation after a long illness .

He was born August 10, 1917 in Beloit, WI, the son of Harmon and Emma Kessler Coomer. Robert attended Beloit High School. He married Myrtle Feldon on February 16, 1941 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beloit, WI.

Robert was employed by Beloit Corporation as an Inspector until his retirement in 1981. He then went to work for Beloit Specialty. Robert loved gardening, fishing and was a devoted Bears and Cub Fan.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Myrtle; his daughters, Susan (David) Bennett of Beloit, WI, Sandra (Timothy) Galvin of Shirland, IL, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Widmer of Wausau, WI; sons, Robert (Vicki) Coomer of Beloit, WI, Michael Coomer of Beloit, WI; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; 4 step-great great grandchildren; brother, Harmon (Mavis) Coomer of Janesville, WI and sister, Audrey Hamilton of Beloit, WI.

He was predeceased by his parents, and sister, Ila Jocz.

Visitation will be 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 19, 2004 at Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. A private graveside service will be held at East Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Gene VanGalder officiating.

Memorials may be given in his name to Beloit Hospice.

Eugene Theodore 'Gene' Collins, 80, of Clinton, WI, died Saturday, November 6, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital with his wife and five children by his side.

He was born August 19, 1924 in Janesville, WI, the son of Timothy and Frances Frieden Collins (Heffernan). Gene attended South Beloit and Rockford Schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Submarine Service having served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Gene married Mae Osmond on July 12, 1947 in St. Peter Catholic Church, South Beloit, IL.

Gene, his wife and family farmed in Southern Rock County for 54 years milking cows and raising livestock. His past time was spent with horses, restoring carriages and spending time with family. Gene was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Sharon, WI. He was also a member of South Beloit American Legion, Turtle Grange, Rock County Bee Keepers, Rolling Rims Buggy Club, Clinton Historical Society and he was one of the original organizers of the Horse Drawn Vehicles Parade during Clinton's Prairie Days Celebration.

Survivors include his wife Mae of 57 years; five children, Patricia (Lee) Phillips of Janesville, WI, Thomas (Lori) Collins of Clinton, WI, Mary 'Mo' Collins of Capron, IL, Kevin (Lisa) Collins of Greenleaf, WI and Jeffrey (Kathy) Collins of Clinton, WI; grandchildren, Kristin Beals, Matthew (Amy) Beals, Chad, Ryan and Blake Collins, Dustin and Jessica Hurst, Dustin Collins, Angela, Justin, Nicholas, Brittany and Eileen Collins, Kayla, Joshua, Jonathon and Jacob Collins; great grandchildren, McKenzie, Baxter and Adeline Beals; one sister, Barbara Turner of Rockton, IL and step-sister, Pat Kothe of Rockton, IL.

We celebrate Gene's life with love and joy.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Laverne Collins, and Francis 'Tim' Collins and one sister, Darlene Jaenecke.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2004 in St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Sharon, WI. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Visitation will also be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday in the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to St. Catherine's Church or Clinton Historical Society.

Walter A. 'Pat' Clark, 74, of Janesville, WI, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital with his family at his side.

He was born on July 10, 1930 in Sabula, IA, the son of Lester and Bertha (Hendrickson) Clark. Walter was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1947 until 1967. He married Joyce Coakley in 1956. She predeceased him in 1981. Walter later married Carol J. Evenson.

Walter worked as a parts man for Trucks, Inc. in Janesville, WI, retiring in 1992. He then continued working at Transport America and Advanced Security. Walter enjoyed the river and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #1621, the Moose Lodge of Janesville #197, Orfordville American Legion, the Fleet Reserve Association (F.R.A.), Ground Control Association (G.C.A.) and the Star Zenith Boat Club.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; son, Patrick (Cinnamon) Clark (U.S. Army); three daughters, Kathryn (WM) Harn, Rebecca (Bob) Hinz, and Jennifer Clark; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; eight step children, David (Barb) Voegeli, Daryl Voegeli, Charles Voegeli, Diane (Kenneth) Roach, Donna (Michael) Saxby, Cheryl (Jim) Watkins, Lillian (Mark) Hunter and Lila (Mark) Svendsen; 22 step grandchildren and 23 step great grandchildren; one brother, Ben Clark; two sisters, Shirley Mangler and Linda (Don) Reed; several nieces, nephew and cousins.

Walter was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was predeceased by his father in 1978 and his mother in 1999.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2004 in the Jordan Lutheran Church, Smock Valley Road, Browntown, WI. Burial will be in the Jordan Lutheran Church Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday in the church.

A memorial will be established in his name.

Thore G. Carlson, 83, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 16, 1921 in Beloit, WI, the son of Ernest G. and Hildur Carlson. Thore was a 1939 graduate of Beloit High School. Thore served with the U.S. Marines Corp. during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a veteran of Iwo Jima and a recipient of the Purple Heart. Thore married Esther J. Wiebel on December 29, 1945 at the Old Stone Church in Rockton, IL.

Thore started his employment at Carlson Cleaners with his brother. He later worked for WBEL radio station, retiring in 1986. Thore was a member of the Marine Corp League, the Marine Bulldogs and was one of the original founders of the Marine Corp League. He was a past president of the Noon Kiwanis and a volunteer at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Thore was a former Pop Warner coach and loved to golf.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Esther of Beloit, WI; children, Sandra (Clark) Moriarty of Roscoe, IL and Curtis (Patti) Carlson of Wisconsin Rapids; four grandchildren, Ann (Trent) Hart of Machesney Park, IL, Gunnar (Neile) Moriarty of Minneapolis, MN, Scott (Pam) Carlson of Nekoosa, WI and Chad (Laura) Carlson of Windsor, CO; three step grandchildren, Lori (Mike) Buckner of Happy Hollow, WI, Lisa (Jeremy) Lindstrom of Wisconsin Rapids and Tamara Buckner of Whitewater, WI; one great grandson, Owen Riley Hart; two step great grandchildren, James Lindstrom and Tierney Lindstrom; brother-in-law, Tom (Yvonne) Martin of Iowa; sister-in-law, Marge Carlson of Pompano Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Carl, sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Roland Bovee.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Gail Abbott officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in his name to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or the Marine Corp. League.

Orville Clare Christianson, 93, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004 in Pioneer Court, Beloit, WI.

He was born on July 14, 1911 in Shell Lake, WI, the son of John and Ann Hillman Christianson. Orville was the eldest of seven children Orville, Cyril, Wally, John, Gordon, Joyce and Eugene Christianson. He was a graduate of Shell Lake High School and attended technical school in Superior. Orville worked for the Shell Lake Creamery and completed courses in dairy science at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He married Lucille DePolis of Spooner, WI in 1939 and they moved to Beloit, WI. Orville worked for the Wright and Wagner Dairy (Beatrice Foods) for many years, retiring in 1976.

Survivors include his three children, Jean Marie (Rudy) Winther of Marquette, WI, Linda Mary (Armando) Rugarcia of Puebla, Mexico and Gary Christianson of Waukesha, WI; six grandchildren, Mark and Erik Christianson, Kirsten Braucher, Gina Marie Winther, Elizabeth and Danielle Rugarcia; five great grandchildren, Enrico and Leah Braucher, Ashton Haleigh, Caitlin Hannah and Britton Tyler Christianson; two brothers, John Christianson and Eugene Christianson; one sister, Joyce Magnusson.

He was predeceased by his parents, and brothers, Cyril, Wally, and Gordon.

Graveside services will be 12:00 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2004 in Calvary Cemetery, Spooner, WI. Burial will be beside his beloved wife, close to his roots and his favorite fishing haunts. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m.

Richard Joseph Culver, 55, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004 in his home.

He was born on January 15, 1949 in Beloit, WI, the son of Alvie and Elizabeth Raska Culver. Richard attended Beloit Memorial High School. He married Susan Ross on April 6, 1985 in the First United Methodist Church in Beloit, WI.

Richard worked at General Motors for 29 years as a paint repairman. He enjoyed hunting, auctions, and family gatherings. Richard was especially proud that he was present for every grandchild's birth.

Survivors include his wife, Susan of Beloit, WI; seven children, Christina Culver of Janesville, WI, Mary Culver of Jefferson, WI, Catheran Burchfield of Janesville, WI;
Rick (Kashia) Culver, Jr. of Janesville, WI, Mandy (Scott) Mason of Brodhead, WI, Alicia Culver of Orfordville, WI, Brad (Nikki) Ross of Janesville, WI; mother, Elizabeth Culver; three step-children; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; brother, Kenneth (Shirley) Culver of Beloit, WI; sisters, Genevieve (Bob) Bargman of Machesney Park, IL, Joni (Jim) Johns of Beloit, WI,; sisters-in-laws, Christina (Mike) Culver of Beloit, WI and Terri (Arthur) Culver of South Beloit, IL.

He was predeceased by his father, Alvie Culver, brothers Arthur and Michael Culver.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI 53511 with Pastor Norm Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until time of service Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Beloit Memorial Hospital Cancer Center.

Jason Christopher Cannell, 21, of South Beloit, IL, died Monday, August 2, 2004 in St. Anthony's Hospital, Rockford, IL.

He was born April 18, 1983 in Rockford, IL, the son of Christopher Lee Cannell and Christine Palmer. Jason attended Prairie Hill School, graduated from Hononegah High School and was attending Rock Valley College. He was very excited about going on to college. He talked of being a history teacher or archeologist, but was majoring in business. Jason was loved by anyone who met him. His quick wit and smile was loved by all.

Survivors include his mother, Christine (Brian) Allen of Machesney Park, IL; father, Christopher (Lanae) Cannell of South Beloit, IL; sister Hanna Cannell of South Beloit, IL, Britton Allen of Machesney Park, IL, Jocelyn and Heather Allen both of Rockton, IL; grandparents, Fran and Wayne Mecca of Machesney Park, IL and Paul and Barb Cannell of South Beloit, IL; aunts and uncles, Mary Palmer of Machesney Park, IL, Laura (Doug) Bisso of Wheaton, IL, Lisa (Scott) Grabow of Roscoe, IL, Mitch (godfather) and Karen Cannell of Godfrey, IL, Teri and Mark Miles of Edgerton, WI and Leonard (Rene) Palmer of Loves Park, IL; cousins, Dee, Mark, Danielle, Ryan, Sierra, Blake, Chelsea, Cori, Haley, Reid, Shane, Dereck and Brogan; special cousins, Nathan, Jordan, Chase and Travis; godmother, Nodi Kemmeter.

Jason will be dearly missed by his mother, father and all his friends and family.

He was predeceased by his maternal and paternal great grandparents and an aunt, Perene Palmer.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates, 2355 Cranston Road Beloit, WI, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Rockton Restoration.

Alvira Cecelia Clark, 76, formerly of Beloit, died Sunday, June 20, 2004 at Dove Health Care in Eau Claire, WI.

She was born December 27, 1927 in Minster, OH, the daughter of August and Frances Voskuhl Garman. Alvira was a graduate of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Dayton, OH. She married Jackie Lee Clark on January 12, 1952 in Dayton, OH. He predeceased her on July 28, 1996.

Alvira worked at Carlyle Nursing Home and Beloit Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Marian Guild.

Survivors include her four sons, James (Sue) Clark of Manitowoc, WI, Thomas (Cindy) Clark of Plano, TX, Timothy (Heather) Clark of Woodbury, MN and Dennis (Mary) Clark of Eau Claire, WI; three daughters, Teresa Clark Derfus of Stratford, WI, Laura Clark of Jackson, WI and Paula LeVahn of Bloomington, MN; 11 grandchildren, Codi and Tomi Clark, Joshua and Kathryn Derfus, Willis Clark, Sarah and Lauren Clark, Emily Clark, Erin, Isaac and Trent LeVahn; one sister, Patricia (Donald) Stachler; three brothers, Norbert 'Butch' (Priscilla) Garman, Charles 'Doc'(Erlene) Garman and Richard (Betty) Garman.

She was predeceased by twin infant children, John and Jacqueline, parents, four sisters, Barbara Rammel, Rita Green, Veronica Schmitz and Margaret Weaver; three brothers, Victor, Virgil and Marvin 'Sam' Garman.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2004 at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Steve Kortendick officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI with Scripture Service at 4:00 p.m.

Memorials may be given in her name to Beloit Hospice or a local Humane Society.
