Bernard (Bernie) A. Carroll, 79, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 in his home, where he lived most of his life.

He was born May 6, 1923 in Footville, WI, the son of James and Margaret (Chapman) Carroll. Bernie married Helen J. Hanson on February 12, 1949 in St. Jude Catholic Church, Beloit, WI. Bernie and his wife recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.

Bernie was a dairy farmer in Newark Township until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Pure Milk Association and Holstein Breeders Association. He earned the Rock County Soil and Water Conservation Award in 1968. He was active in the Rock County Rural Electric Cooperative, serving on the board of directors for 25 years, retiring in 1996. He read meters for the cooperative for several years. Bernie also served as Newark Township supervisor for 15 years. He was active in Newark-Beloit 4-H, both as a member and a leader. Bernie enjoyed playing cards with friends, bowling and golfing. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Bernard and Helen were blessed with seven children and four grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Helen; three sons, Leonard (friend Karen Stillman) Carroll of Beloit, WI, Jeffrey Carroll of Fort Wayne, IN, Randy (Carrie Ann) Carroll of Maplewood, MN; four daughters, Susan (Frank) Carroll Crow of Rochester, MN, Patricia Carroll Sopsick of Madison, WI, Laura (Henry) Carroll Appel of Machesney Park, IL, and Carrie Lee (Dan Mullins) Carroll of Seattle, WA; four grandchildren, Christopher and Carissa Carroll of Maplewood, MN, Toby and Jared Appel of Machesney Park, IL; two sisters, Josephine Freitag of Beloit, WI and Dorothy Fensterman of Janesville, WI; two brothers, Russell Carroll of South Beloit, IL and Richard Carroll of Beloit, WI.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Kenneth and William Carroll, sister, Catherine Peters and son-in-law John Sopsick.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2003 in the St. Jude Catholic Church with Fr. Steve Kortendick officiating. Entombment will be in Mt. Thabor Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a Scripture Service at 5 p.m. in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Friday in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to Beloit Regional Hospice or St. Jude Catholic Church.

PAUL T. "TOM" COLE II, 29, of 1365 Grant St., Beloit, WI, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 in his home of natural causes.

He was born May 27, 1973 in Beloit, WI, the son of Paul T. and Carlene J. Coleman Cole Thompson. Tom was a 1991 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. Tom married Julie E. Carpenter on November 13, 1993 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI.

Tom was employed by Do It Tool & Die and owner and operator of General Home Repair. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #191. Tom was an avid hunter, fisherman, and archer.

Survivors include his wife, Julie; daughter, Samantha; stepson, Shawn Carpenter; mother, Carlene (Dennis) Thompson; father, Paul (Sally) Cole; three sisters, Jennifer (fiancé Tim LaRosa) Cole, Denise K. Thompson, and Linda Ryan; two brothers, Gregg (Theresa) Thompson, and Mark (Trisha) Ryan; grandmother, Elizabeth Arboleda; great grandmother, Eleanor Novachek; father-in-law, Don Carpenter; two sisters-in-law, Jennifer Carpenter and Mary J. Carpenter; one brother-in-law, Joshua Carpenter; grandmother, Elvera Schreiber; godsons, Michael Church and Michael J. Hulbert; goddaughter, Makayla Hulbert; ten nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

Tom was predeceased by four grandfathers, three grandmothers, and his mother-in-law, Mary M. Carpenter.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2003 in the Central Christian Church with Pastor David Meding officiating. There will be no visitation. There will be a luncheon after the memorial service at church served by the women's auxiliary. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

Mary Ellen Rothenbuehler DeWitt, 76, of Beloit, WI, passed away unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

She was born on March 17, 1928 in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Ralph and Irene Briggs Huffman. Mary Ellen married Delbert J. Rothenbuehler. He predeceased her. She later married Clarence 'Roy' DeWitt on September 25, 1975 in Rockton, IL.

Mary Ellen was employed by Weises and J.C. Penny's. She was a member of Central Christian Church. Mary Ellen was a very caring and loving person who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Mary Ellen loved her family and was comforted when they were in her presence, or when she could speak to them on the phone. At the time of her passing, she was still grieving the recent death of her beloved daughter Lana; now they are together again in eternity.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence 'Roy' DeWitt of Beloit, WI; children, Randall Rothenbuehler and Judy Hoiberg both of Beloit, WI; one grandson, Curtis Hoiberg of Philadelphia, PA; special pet companion, Penny Lou.

She was predeceased by her parents, beloved daughter, Lana Rothenbuehler, infant son, Kurt and sister, Charlene Krause.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2005 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Norman Starks officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, WI. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Claude Dygart, 60, of Beloit, WI, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2005 at 8:37 a.m. after a short battle with cancer in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 7, 1944 in Beloit, WI, the son of Theodore Claude and Cora Johnson Dygart. Claude lived his whole life in Beloit except for his tour with the Navy. He was united in marriage to Audrey Letcher on December 24, 1973 in Beloit, WI.

Claude was employed by Alliant Energy and Beloit Power Systems. He was a very loving person who enjoyed his genealogy and spending time with his family. Claude was the love of Audrey's life, he was her everything and she will forever love and miss him for the rest of her life. He was the best husband and father to Audrey and their children. She will forever hold a place in her heart for her love Claude.

Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Audrey; two sons, Brian Dygart and Jason Dygart both of Beloit, WI; one daughter, Kristy Dygart of Beloit, WI; one grandson, Tharyn Claude Dygart; one brother, Leonard Dygart of Beloit, WI; many nieces and nephews; his dogs, Tinkerbell and Bandit; special friends, Theresa Whalen, Tammy Stenulson, Sue Moore and Jason Kirchkow.

He was predeceased by his father in 1955 and mother in 1995 and in-laws, James Letcher in 1980 and Ortha Letcher in 1999.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2005 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Norman Starks officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the family.

Doris Helen Duffy, 96, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 in Beloit Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born October 6, 1908 on the Hazlewood homestead farm in Manchester Township, Boone County, IL the daughter of Clarence B. and Mary 'Matie' Chamberlain Hazlewood. Doris attended Center School in Manchester Township and graduated from Beloit High School. She received her teacher's certificate and taught for more than 45 years. She married Michael Arthur 'Art' Duffy on June 25, 1934 in Iowa. He predeceased her on June 9, 1970.

Doris started teaching in the Wyman limestone one room school and taught there until it was consolidated. She then taught at Caledonia, Rock Cut, and Hamilton Jr. High, retiring from Clark School in South Beloit, IL. She was a volunteer at Grinnell Hall and Beloit Memorial Hospital. Doris was a member of the Illinois State Teachers Association, Business Professional Club, Homemakers Club, Meridian Club and Blaine United Methodist Church. Doris enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and her constant canine companion, Peggy Sue

Survivors include her nephew, Laverne (Natalie) Hazlewood; nieces, Jean Hazlewood and Janet (Bill) Miller; great nieces, Barbara (John) Hazlewood-Miller, Susan (Randy) Hazlewood-Roberson, Sharon (Jeff) Peters, Kathy (Brad) Lenz; great nephews, Gary (Melissa) Woodhouse and Don (Mary Lou) Woodhouse and their father, Ray Woodhouse; sister-in-law, Geraldine Stark and her family, RJ (Marcia) Stark and Ray (Jane) Stark.

She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Arthur Hazlewood, sister, Alice Koltz and a niece, Carol (Koltz) Woodhouse.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2005 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Lisa Kruse-Safford officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Blaine United Methodist Church, Poplar Grove, IL or the First United Methodist Church, Beloit, WI specifically for children's ministries.

Emma Marie Dunaway, 91, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

She was born on January 14, 1914 in Monticello, IA, the daughter of Frank and Nellie Harmon Brewster. Emma married Leo Herbert Dunaway in 1935. He predeceased her on November 4, 1970. She enjoyed bowling, volleyball, playing bingo and poker.

Survivors include her children, Kenny (Kay) Dunaway of La Center, WA, Loretta Hall of South Beloit, IL, Glen Dunaway of Janesville, WI, Bob (Shar) Dunaway of Beloit, WI, Judy (Rusty) Clark of Chino, CA, Howard (Michelle) Dunaway of Glendora, CA, and Fred (Lori) Dunaway of South Beloit, IL; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, daughters, Lilly and Nellie; grandsons, Danny Hall and Stevie Dunaway; granddaughters, Judy Dunaway and Becky Grice.

Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2005 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Mark and Karen Place officiating. There will be no visitation.

Scott William Duhr, 19, of Clinton, WI, died Saturday, January 8, 2005 in the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, WI, as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born November 4, 1985 in Beloit, WI, the son of Paul W. and Kris J. Bell Duhr. Scott was a 2004 graduate of Clinton High School. While in high school Scott played football, basketball, track, and summer baseball. He was in the Electrician's Apprenticeship Program with McGilvra Electric. Scott was a life scout with the Boy Scouts. His passion was hunting, fishing, four wheel drive trucks, and spending time with his friends. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Clinton, WI.

Survivors include his parents, Paul and Kris of Clinton, WI; three brothers, Nick Duhr, Brandon James, and Adam James all at home; one sister, Stephanie Duhr at home; grandparents, Ray Duhr of Janesville, WI and Cecil 'Butch' and Dianna Bell of Beloit, WI; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a list of friends.

He was predeceased by his mother, Lynn M. Hanson, grandmothers, Sally Hanson, Carolyn Bell and Donna Duhr.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2005 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Doug Workman officiating. Burial will be in Clinton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

A scholarship fund will be established in his name at Clinton High School.

Christopher Roger Donato, 35, of Madison, WI, died unexpectedly of natural causes on January 4, 2005 in his home in Madison.

He was born December 19, 1969 in Beloit, WI, the son of Samuel Donato and Sally (O'Neal) Donny. Chris was a graduate of Beloit Memorial High School and attended the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Chris worked as a ski instructor at Copper Mountain in Colorado for several years and then moved to Minocqua Wisconsin where he pursued his love of cooking and fishing. He worked as a chef at the Frying Pan and later at the Whitetail Inn. It is there that he found his other love, his Newfoundland dog Barley. Chris was active in golf, hockey and band. He moved to Madison 5 years ago to be closer to his family and to fish the Southern Wisconsin lakes. Here he also renewed his interest in music and played saxophone for the V.F.W. and the Shrine bands in Madison. Chris was employed as kitchen manager for J.T. Whitney Pub & Brewery.

Survivors include his parents, Sally (Mel) Donny and Samuel (Jane) Donato; sisters, Jane Donato of Spokane, WA, Lisa (Vaughn) Minnix of Yuba City, CA, Samantha (Blake) Divine and Lia Donato both of Beloit, WI; step sisters, Mary Louise Warhus and Erika Warhus both of Portland, OR; his uncle, Thomas of Annapolis, MD; maternal grandmother, Helen O'Neal of Green Valley, AZ; niece and nephew, Rachael and Aaron.

A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2005 in the Sun Valley Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Ian Stirrat officiating. There will be no visitation. There will also be a memorial service for friends and family on January 16, 2005 in Green Valley Arizona.

Fred R. Dietsch, 86, of Beloit, WI died Thursday, December 16, 2004 at the University Hospital in Madison, WI.

He was born February 13, 1918 in Beloit, WI, the son of Fred R. and Susan Dietsch. Fred was a 1936 graduate of Beloit High School. He married Bernice Bortney on August 31, 1940 in Iowa.

Fred served in the US Army during World War II. He retired as a machinist from Bendix Corporation.

He was a member of, Morning Star Lodge #10 F. & A.M., Beloit Chapter #9 RAM, Beloit Council #1 RSM, Commandery KT, The Scottish Rite and Zor Shrine Temple of Madison, Order of the Eastern Star Phoenix Chapter #215, and Past Master of the Morning Star Lodge #10.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; daughters, Judy (David) Darling of Beloit, WI, Crystal (Richard) Catron of LaGrange Park, IL; four grandchildren, Kim and Jeff Darling and Jennifer and Michelle Catron.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and sister.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2004 at the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Daniel Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 2:00 p.m.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Masonic Temple Scholarship Fund.
