Ethel Marie Dotter, 90, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, December 6, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 9, 1914 in Stevens Point, WI, the daughter of Herman and Grace Beach Gaedtke. Ethel was a 1932 graduate of Rhinelander High School and attended Teachers College in Stevens Point. She married Norman Dotter on June 25, 1949 in Bradley, WI. He predeceased her on February 28, 2004.

Ethel was a school teacher for 12 years before marriage. She taught in one room schools in northern Wisconsin including Prairie Lake, Lund, Marsland (Lac du Flambeau), Pelican Lake, Minocqua Grade School and Kelly School. She enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, gardening, and craft fairs. Ethel's family was her priority. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Norma J. Dotter of Tomahawk, WI, Sandra G. Dotter and Kent N. Dotter both of Beloit, WI; brothers, Harold (Eve) Gaedtke and Dale Gaedtke both of Tomahawk, WI; sisters-in-law, June Gaedtke of Palmer, Alaska and Anita Gaedtke- Haring of Tomahawk, WI; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, infant daughter, Rita Kay Dotter, four sisters, Mildred McCarthy, Marjorie Kroening, Irma Halverson and Joyce Majerus, four brothers, Almon Gaedtke, Hugh Gaedtke, Clyde Gaedtke and Herman Gaedtke.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Gene VanGalder officiating. Burial will be Turtleville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Friday in the funeral home.

Clara S. Devlin, 86, of Janesville and formerly of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, November 25, 2004 at Rock Haven Nursing Home, Janesville, WI.

She was born January 10, 1918 in Beaver Dam, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Louisa Diehl Willihnganz. She married Clemens Nytes on October 17, 1936 in Sheboygan, WI. He predeceased her on December 18, 1960. Clara later married Charles Devlin on September 20, 1966 in Beloit, WI. He predeceased her on October 20, 1975.

Clara was employed by Adams Corporation, State School System and Beloit Memorial High School. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church.

Clara loved to play card games, crossword puzzles, volunteer work, and was known for her sense of humor.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Carrie (Scott) Horlock of Sycamore, IL, Michael (Karen) Nemetz of Beloit, WI, David (Stacy) Nemetz of Janesville, WI, Vicki (Chad Poff) Nemetz of Beloit, WI, Michelle (Dan) Carter of Adams, WI, Russ (Lexy) Austin of Madison, WI; 15 great grandchildren; step-daughter, Jackie (Bill) Austin of Beloit, WI; sister, Emma Hayes of Waukegan, IL; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, two infant sons, daughter, Barbara Nemetz, five brothers and two sisters.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2004 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Rock Haven Nursing Home.

Elwyn W. 'Butch' Dwars, 82, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, November 17, 2004 in his home.

A Beloit resident for the past 45 years, he was born on November 10, 1922 in Reedsburg, WI, the son of Walter and Agnes Klipp Dwars. Elwyn was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Kathryn Steinhorst on January 31, 1932 in Dubuque, IA. She predeceased him on April 11, 1996.

Elwyn was a construction worker for the past 30 years. He was a member of the Local Union #464 and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI. Elwyn loved playing the guitar, scratch off tickets, playing power ball and visiting the ladies at Woodman's and Osco Drug.

Survivors include his children, Gerald 'Lou' (June) Dwars of Lac Du Flambeau, WI, Barbara (Howard) Hatch, Donna (Billy) Brannon and Sandra (Randy) Parker all of Black River Falls, WI; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Cecil Bloss and granddaughter, Carol Jean.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend James A. Adomeit officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Mary H. Devins, 90, of Portsmouth, Ohio, died Thursday, October 21, 2004 in Hill View Retirement Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.

She was born October 4, 1914 in Richland County, WI, the daughter of John and Loretta Drea Sheahan. Mary married Harry R. Devins on August 24, 1935 in St. John's De Nep Catholic Church in Milwaukee, WI. He predeceased her on September 17, 1994.

Mary was employed at Freeman Shoe Company for 28 years, retiring in 1978. She was a charter member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Mary belonged to the Altar Society of the church and Freeman Shoe Company 20 Year Club.

Survivors include her son, James J. (Ellen) Devins of Minford, OH; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Entombment will be in Mount Thabor Mausoleum. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI 53511 assisted the family with the arrangements.

Lester E. Dooley, 83, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, October 9, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 5, 1921 in Beloit, WI, the son of William L. and Anna A. (Wilke) Dooley. Lester was a 1941 graduate of Beloit High School. While in High School Lester was an outstanding athlete and signed with the Chicago Cubs before being called into the service. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. Lester married Marvis 'Sis' Amundson on August 18, 1945 in St. Jude Catholic Church, Beloit, WI.

Lester was the former owner and operator of Rex Bowling Lanes for 10 years. He then was owner and operator of Bowl Aire Lanes from 1959 to 1990. Lester was a lifetime member of the Elks Club, and the V.F.W. Post #2306. He was a member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus St. Thomas, Beloit Bowling Hall of Fame, Beloit Historical Athletic Hall of Fame and the American Legion Post #48.

Survivors include his wife, Marvis 'Sis' Dooley of Beloit, WI; one son, Dennis (Lisa) Dooley of Beloit, WI; grandson, Christopher (Angie) Dooley of South Beloit, IL; one brother, Melvin Dooley of South Beloit, IL; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Leonard Dooley.

Services will be private according to Lester's wishes. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the University of Wisconsin Hospital or the Mayo Clinic.

Isabelle L. Dreier, 85, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, September 23, 2004 in Premier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing.

She was born April 21, 1919 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Erwin J. and Minnie A. Wolsdorf Scharff. Isabelle was a 1936 graduate of Beloit High School. She married Richard W. Dreier on November 8, 1942 in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI. He predeceased her on April 28, 1991.

Isabelle was employed by Fairbanks Morse Company until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and was active in the St. John's Lutheran Women's Guild and the Fellowship Guild.

Survivors include her daughter, Kaylene Ann Dreier of Madison, WI; two grandchildren, Joshua Travis Smith and Jeremiah Deacon Smith; great granddaughter, Zoë Smith; brother, Arvid (Carol) Scharff of Millston, WI; sisters-in-law, Delores Scharff of Beloit, WI, and Margaret Behm of Chicago, IL; nieces, nephews and cousins and a special friend, Clair Helom.

She was predeceased by her son, Jaylan David Dreier, parents and two brothers, Arnold and Donald.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2004 in St. John's Lutheran Evangelical Church with Reverend Mark B. Yates officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, September 27, 2004 from10:00 a.m. until the time of service in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with the arrangements.

Memorials may be given in her name to St. John's Lutheran Women's Guild.

Roger V. Disch, 72, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, September 9, 2004 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law after a courageous battle with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

He was born on a farm near Evansville on Easter Sunday. His oldest sister, Charlene, remembers muddying her new Easter shoes as she ran across a field to summon the neighbor lady to be midwife. Roger was the fifth oldest of eight children born to Henry C. and Cecille (Anderson) Disch between 1922 and 1944. Roger attended country school and Evansville High School, where he played tight end on the football team. He joined the U.S. Marines when he was 18 and was assigned to driving amphibious tractors. He earned his sergeant stripes when he was 19. Roger married Donna Green on February 26, 1954 in Evansville, WI.

Following his service with the Marines, Roger was employed by Fischer Body in Janesville. Upon moving to Beloit, Roger ran a route for Omar Bakery in Beloit, managed the Schrock Fertilizer Company plant in Janesville and sold insurance for Farmers Rural Insurance Company. Roger was among the first workers at the Chrysler auto plant in Belvidere, IL, where he worked until retiring in 1992. Roger had been a member of the Second Congregational Church in Beloit. He had been a member of the Eagles Club in Beloit and the American Legion. Roger was involved with the Newark-Beloit 4-H Club as chairman of the club's annual auction for several years and as an advisory board member.

Survivors include his companion of 27 years, Joyce Lynn of Beloit, WI; two daughters, Darcy Disch-Demos and Julie (Sid) Schwartz both of Beloit, WI; four grandchildren, Janelle Demos, Taylor Demos, Angelica Schwartz and Monica Schwartz; his extended family includes Joyce's children, Steve, Bill, Jeff, Dianne and Beth, and their families; two sisters, Charlene Kettle-Gilbertson of Brodhead and Becky (Dennis) Collins of Sun Prairie, WI; four brothers, Donald (Margaret) Disch of Janesville, WI, Bob Disch of Beloit, WI, Rex (Ila) Disch of Brodhead, WI and Daryl (JoAnn) Disch of Evansville, WI.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Raymond Disch.

The family gives thanks to the people of Beloit Memorial Hospital Special Care Unit and special thanks to the people of the Janesville Hospice program.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2004 at Plymouth cemetery with the Reverend Jim Rowlette of First United Methodist Church, Beloit, WI, officiating.

Daniel J. Demers, 37, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, July 24, 2004.

He was born January 30, 1967 in Beloit, WI, the son of George E. and Mary Werner Demers. Daniel was a 1985 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School.

Survivors include his father, George of Beloit, WI; sister, Diane Demers of South Beloit, IL; two nieces, Ciara Ramirez Demers and Callie Ramirez Demers both of South Beloit, IL.

He was predeceased by his mother and sister, Deborah K. Demers.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday in the funeral home.

Eugene J. Derone, 91, of South Beloit, IL, died Friday, July 16, 2004 at Pioneer Court.

He was born October 25, 1912 in Beloit, WI, the son of Joseph and Nettie Milatzo Derone. Eugene graduated from South Beloit High School. He married Frances C. Clark on May 26, 1945 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Beloit, WI. She predeceased him on February 19, 1980.

Eugene was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, South Beloit, IL and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #197 of Janesville, WI. He was employed by Fairbanks Morse & Company for 15 years, National Mirror Works for 10 years, Barber Coleman of Rockford, IL for 10 years, managed Motel 6 for 5 years and was a part-time auditor for the Wagon Wheel Lodge for 5 years. Eugene also managed motels in Santa Barbara, CA, Santa Maria, CA, Fresno, CA, Lubbock, TX, Columbus, GA, Belle Vernon, PA, Elizabeth Town, KY, Louisville, KY, St. Petersburg, FL, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Cocoa Beach, FL and Decatur, AL.

He loved to play the organ for family and friends especially during the holidays.

Survivors include his sister, Ann (Rocco) Maltese of Beloit, WI, and several nephews, Frank (Jody) Brown of Sanibel, FL, Dennis Brown of NJ, James J. (Melba) Parma of South Beloit, IL, Joseph (Peggy) Parma of Phoenix, AZ , brother-in-law, Jim Clark of Wauwatosa, WI, and cousins.

His parents, sisters, Caroline Russo, Angeline Parma and brother Paul Derone predeceased him.

Prayer services will be at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, July, 20, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church with the Fr. Jerome Koutnik officiating. Entombment will be in The Shrine of Memories Mausoleum, Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
