Beth Ann Debuque, 44, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, May 7, 2004 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 13, 1959 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Robert W. and Joyce C. Hoke Connors. Beth attended Beloit Schools. She was formerly employed at the Holiday Inn, The Works, Club 88, Yates American and until her illness at the Borderline.

Survivors include her children, Stephanie Faye Johnson and Thomas Maxwell Debuque, both of Beloit, WI; granddaughter, Mazzy Faye Johnson; her mother, Joyce Connors of Beloit, WI; her sister, Barbara Ann (Michael) Hale of Beloit, WI; fiancé, Verlin Cleveland, nieces, Lee Ann Howard of Janesville, WI, and Kimberly Sue (Mark Rodriguez) Howard of Beloit, WI; great niece, Isabella Beth Rodriguez; great nephews, Alex Rodriguez and Benjamin Robert Oliver; uncle, William (Carol) Hoke of Albuquerque, NM; the father of her children, Thomas Debuque, many cousins and dear friends that loved her.

Her father and grandparents predeceased her.

Memorial Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI with the Reverend Roger Elliott officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to Beloit Hospice.

Mary Lou Dole, 74, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004 in her daughter's home.

She was born October 25, 1929 in Unionville, MO, the daughter of Lawrence and Leta Smith Halley. Mary married Arnold G. Dole on April 6, 1947 in Unionville, MO. He predeceased her on July 5, 1991.

Mary retired in 2000 from Beloit Memorial Hospital as a nurse's assistant. She was a member of Central Christian Church.

Survivors include her children, Roger G. (Darlyne) Dole of Janesville, WI and Deborah (Donald) Driscoll of Roscoe, IL; five grandchildren, Travis Gene (Jeanette) Dole of Janesville, WI, Tonya Marie (Michael) Gorton of Beloit, WI, Michael J. and John Paul Machones of Beloit, WI and Ryan Dole of Milwaukee, WI; great grandchildren, Tiana Marie Raley, Brittny Dole, Hailey Dole, Devin Michael Gorton, Abigail Gorton and Anthony Machones; three brothers, Bob (Bev) Halley of Moline, IL, Ed (Carol) Halley of Rockton, IL and Ray (Bev) Halley of Beloit, WI; one sister, Phyllis (Donald) Dye of Beloit, WI; aunts and uncles; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary's family and friends were her life and her love. She will be deeply missed by everyone.

She was predeceased by her parents, son, Michael Alan Dole and sisters, Kay Sterling and Virginia Adkins.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor David Meding officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in her name to Beloit Regional Hospice.

Larry Neil Duncan, 60, of Mount Juliet, TN, died Saturday, March 27, 2004 in Baptist Hospital, Lebanon, TN.

He was born July 22, 1943 in Wisconsin the son of Clay and LaVon Bester Duncan. Larry was an avid Earnhardt's fan and Tennessee Titans fan.

Survivors include his longtime love and companion, Joyce Gummo of Mount Juliet, TN; his two sons, Brian Duncan and Brandon Duncan, both of South Beloit, IL; his daughter, Brenda (Rudy) Colwell of South Beloit, IL; four grandchildren Dustin Silvis, McKenna Colwell, Maddison Colwell, and Carter Colwell; one brother, Ronnie Duncan of Beloit, WI; four sisters, Barbara Kenny of Rockton, IL, Linda (Larry) Hiter of South Beloit, IL; Kaya (Herb) Graham of South Beloit, IL, Robin (Mike) Thiering of Janesville, WI; sister in law, Beverly Duncan of Beloit, WI; special friends, Linda (Ted) Reimer and Tammy Stout, both of South Beloit, IL; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Phil Duncan, brother in law, Marshall Kenny, sister in law, Marlene Duncan.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Jason Turner from Beloit New Life Church officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of service in the funeral home.

Norman F. Dotter, 89, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, February 28, 2004 in his home.

He was born May 12, 1914 in the Town of Rock Falls, Lincoln County, WI, the son of William and Bertha Zank Dotter. Norman was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Ethel M. Gaedtke on June 25, 1949 in Bradley, WI.

Norman was employed by Beloit Bridge and Iron Company, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed traveling, and reading. Norman continued to learn throughout his life, and family and friends often benefitted from his knowledge and advice.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel of Beloit, WI; three children, Norma J. Dotter of Tomahawk, WI, Sandra G. Dotter and Kent N. Dotter both of Beloit, WI; one brother, Gordon M. (Gerry) Dotter of Merrill, WI; several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Beloit Hospice for all their assistance during Norm's last days. Norm was a man of quiet strength. He was generous with his time, talents and material goods, and will be missed by many.

He was predeceased by his parents, infant daughter, Rita Kay, two brothers, Alvin and William E. Dotter, three sisters, Grace C. Call, Elma Dotter and Ruth F. Dotter.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Gene Van Galder officiating. Burial will be in Turtleville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.

H. VAIL DEALE, 88, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, February 28, 2004 in Beloit Health & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on May 14, 1915 in Baltimore, MD, the son of Henry Vail and Sarah Sisson Deale. Vail was educated at Dickinson College and DePauw University, where he received his B.A. in 1936. He also received a B.L.S. from the University of Illinois Library School in 1937, and his M.A. in English Literature from Drake University, in 1950. Vail married Jane Louise Niehaus on June 7, 1944 in Washington, D.C. She predeceased him on February 2, 2004.

Vail came to Beloit College as the director of libraries in 1953. After years of careful planning, Vail saw through to completion the building of the Colonel Robert H. Morse Library, which opened in 1962 and was named state 'Library of the Year, ' the first time the award went to a college library. Vail's two Fulbright awards led him to Iran, first in 1965-66, where he assisted in building the first academic library in Iran at Pahlavi University in Shiraz and met the Shah. In 1970-71 he served on the faculty at the University of Tehran. Vail wrote numerous articles for Library Journal, Wisconsin Bulletin, College and Research Libraries, and The Journal of Higher Education, among others, and was very active with the Midwest Academic Librarians Conference, served on the council of the American Library Association, and as president of the Wisconsin Library Association. Governor Patrick Lucey, named him to the Wisconsin Council on Library Development in 1973. During his 27 years at Beloit College, approximately 50 students went on to careers in librarianship. In the 1960s, he worked with the Beloit Community on Human Rights, the Beloit Peace Council, and was a member of the Beloit Chapter of the NAACP. He was a charter member of the Leon Peterson Scholarship Committee, was appointed chairman of Brotherhood Week Committee in 1963, and headed the Beloit Citizens Committee for the United Nations in 1964. After retiring in 1980, Vail was on the board of the Voluntary Action Center, served on several minority scholarship committees, and the Community Resources Commission. He was the secretary of the Beloit Public Library Foundation. For many years he continued to maintain an office on campus and met with other retired faculty, known as the 'Buffaloes.'

Survivors include his daughter, Sally (Robert) Deale Gaskin of Destin, FL; two granddaughters, Rebecca (David) Webb of New Market, MD and Sarah (Brian) Hedges of Arlington, VA; two great granddaughters, Emily and Jordan Webb of New Market, MD; one brother, Dr. Hugh (Marjorie) Deale of Franklin, IN; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Dorothy Deale Kellison.

Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2004 in Eaton Chapel with the Reverend Thomas Wanner officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph of Arimathea Columbarium. There will be no visitation. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Martin Luther King Jr. endowed book fund or H. Vail Deale endowed library fund at the Beloit College Library.

Jane Louise Niehaus Deale, 86, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, February 2, 2004 in her home.

She was born December 14, 1917 in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of John and Augusta Thoms Niehaus. Jane married H. Vail Deale on June 6, 1944 in Washington, D.C.

Jane was a member of the League of Women Voters, Art League of Beloit College, Mortar Board of Beloit College, Beloit Symphony Guild and the Beloit College Women's Club. Jane also served on the City of Beloit Board of Review from 1991 to 1996. She was a former member of First Church of Christian Scientist where she was a first and second reader, chairman of the board, clerk of the church and reading room librarian.

Survivors include her husband, H. Vail Deale of Beloit, WI; one daughter, Sally (Robert) Gaskin of Destin, FL; two granddaughters, Rebecca (David) Webb of New Market, MD and Sarah (Brian) Hedges of Arlington, VA; two great granddaughters, Emily and Jordan Webb of New Market, MD.

She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Margarite Norton of Chevy Chase, MD and Helen Brewer of Jackson, MI.

Memorials services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Inurnment will be in the St. Joseph of Arimathea Columbarium, St. Paul's Episcopal Church. There will be no visitation.

Lawrence E. 'Larry' Dray, 73, of Beloit, WI, beloved husband of Phyllis, peacefully entered into the arms of our Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 in St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI.

He was born June 11, 1930 in Richland Center, WI, the son of Thomas and Odelia Reidel Dray.
Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea for two years.. He married Phyllis E. Sharp on September 5, 1953 in Faith Lutheran Church, South Beloit, IL.

Larry was employed by Fairbanks Morse & Company for 20 years and Litton Gardner Machine for 29 years, retiring in 1992. He was an avid knife collector, and loved bowling, golfing, gardening, traveling and most of all supporting his loved Green Bay Packers. Larry was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Larry was very devoted to his family and was respected by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Beloit, WI; three children, Penny (Steven) Rabuck, Debra (Ron) Hallett and Larry (Christine) Dray all of Beloit, WI; five grandchildren, Tricia, Kari, Matt, Heather and Tim; one great granddaughter, Aubrey; one brother, James (Barbara) Dray; four sisters-in-law, Carolyn Dray and Shirley Dray both of Richland Center, WI, Patricia Dray of Phoenix, AZ and Faye Sharp of Ft. Meyers; one brother-in-law, Lyle (Donna) Sharp of Beloit, WI; special friends, Scott (Brenda) Stowers of Beloit, WI, Ben Griswold of Clinton, WI and Marion Stickler of Pheonix, AZ; many other friends and neighbors.

He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers, David, Robert, Norman, and Thomas; four sisters, Josephine, Nona, Jenny, and Stella, brothers-in-law, Lester Sharp and Jerry Valenta; one niece, Normlee Bingham and special friend, William Stickler.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Dr. Larry Correll officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in his name to the American Cancer Society.

Mae Dudley, 80, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, February 3, 2004 in Fair Oaks Health Care Center, South Beloit, IL.

She was born July 8, 1923 in Baraboo, WI, the daughter of Arthur and Ella Stueber Waffensmith. Mae was a graduate of Prairie Du Sac High School. She married James H. Dudley on March 22, 1944 in Deming, New Mexico.

Mae was employed by Fairbanks Morse & Company and Beloit College, retiring in 1988. She was a former member of the Junior Women's Club and the Intermediate Women. She was a member of Bridge Clubs and the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, James; children, Mary (Steven) Jero of Madison, WI and Thomas Dudley of Pasadena, CA; one granddaughter, Hillary (David) Rolston of Charleston, SC; one great grandson, Jacob; two sisters, Lois Clement of Baraboo, WI and Byrdell Roundy of Prairie Du Sac, WI.

She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Thomas.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2004 in the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Thomas Wanner officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until the time of services Friday in the church. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Rock County Alzheimer's Support Center.

Mildred Densch, 84, of Janesville, WI, died Wednesday, September 10, 2003 in Cedar Crest, Janesville, WI.

She was born July 24, 1919 in Goodman, WI, the daughter of Edgar and Martha McGregor King. Mildred moved to Beloit in 1951. She met her husband, Harold Densch while they both were employed by Fairbanks Morse. They married on October 10, 1953. He predeceased her on March 5, 1996.

Mildred served as Treasurer for Rock Township for 22 years. She was a member of the Wisconsin Towns Association. Mildred was a graduate of the Salvation Army Officers Training College, Chicago, IL, and served as an officer for several years. She was a member of the Home League of the Salvation Army.

Survivors include her children, Becky (Bill) Torrisi, Martin (Colleen) Densch, and Larry (Judy) Densch; grandchildren, Danielle Torrisi, Michael Torrisi, Jennifer McConnell, Temple Graham, and Waylon (Gina) Swartz; great grandchildren, Sebastian, Seth, and Sam Graham, Eugene and Sarah Swartz; sister, Ruth (Glen) Larson; brother, Ken (Jo) King; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and one infant brother, Charles.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Ron Lord officiating. Entombment will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2003 in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until the time of services Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in her name to Beloit Regional Hospice.
