Edmund Joseph Griffin, 75, of Delevan, WI, died Friday, April 1, 2005 in his home.
He was born August 6, 1929 in Beloit, WI, the son of John and Margaret Finnegan Griffin. Edmund was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was employed by IBEW as an electrician, retiring in 1995. Edmund was one of the founders and honorary member of Turtle Lake Sportsman Club. He was a volunteer for the Turtle Lake Fire Department. Edmund was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Tammy (Ted) Dever and Kim (David) Erickson both of Beloit, WI; three grandchildren, Branden Dever, Zachary Dever and Mitchell Erickson; one sister, Mary (Ben) Dziadul of Tempe, AZ; nieces and nephew, Jeanne (Jonathon) Olcott of Phoenix, AZ, Cate (Henry) Taylor of Brule, WI and Barry (Ruth Ann) McGilvra of Sun Lake, AZ; special friend of the family, Bill Paladino of Delavan, WI.
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, John Griffin Jr. and Robert Griffin.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Steven Kortendick officiating. Private burial by his family will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in his name to Beloit Regional Hospice, St. Jude Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
Ann Marie Gerow, 84, of Beloit, WI, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 in her home.
She was born January 1, 1921 in High Cliff, WI, the daughter of John and Anna J. Forkes. Ann married Garland F. “Jerry” Gerow on July 12, 1943 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Milwaukee, WI.
Ann was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church where she was active in the church and school activities, Altar Society and the funeral luncheon committee. She was a 4-H leader and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. A visit to Ann’s home was like a celebration each time. Her home cooked meals and baked goods were always enjoyed.
Survivors include her husband, Garland “Jerry” Gerow of Beloit, WI; children, Georgia Gerow of Tucson, AZ, Diane (Glenn) Hahn of Beloit, WI, Judith Paulk of Fort Wayne, IN, Mary (Steve) Atterbury of Rockton, IL, Joseph (Cheryl) Gerow of Oregon, WI, Christopher Gerow of Phoenix, AZ and Jennifer (Mark) Engles of La Porte, TX; grandchildren, William Farnsworth, Nicholas Gerow, LaMont Paulk, Jessica Atterbury, Brittany Atterbury, Alonna Atterbury, Stevie Rose Atterbury, Erica Gerow, Alexis Gerow, Sara Gerow, Audry Gerow, Marshall Engles, Matthew Engles, and Daniel Engles; eight great grandchildren.
Ann was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her parents, son, Gary Gerow, brothers, George, Carl, Frank and John Forkes, sisters, Mary and Irma.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March17, 2005 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Helen GeRue, 85, of South Beloit, IL, died Thursday, March 10, 2005 in Fair Oaks Health Care Center, South Beloit, IL.
She was born April 2, 1919 in Dodgeville, WI, the daughter of Carl and Lena Kieffer Rolli. Helen married George GeRue on November 23, 1949 in Rockton, IL. He predeceased her on October 27, 1956.
Helen was employed by Fairbanks Morse Company, Plantation Motor Inn and Freeman Shoe Company. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts for several years. Helen was a league bowler sponsored by Blackhawk Grocery at Viking Lanes. Helen was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, South Beloit, IL.
Survivors include her sons, Larry Alan (Mary Ann) GeRue of South Beloit, IL and Gerald Guy (Marge) GeRue of Roscoe, IL; step son, Richard (Patricia) GeRue of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Niki (Randy) Olson of Mineral Point, WI, Erin (Mike) Windsor of South Beloit, IL, George (Jodi) GeRue of South Beloit, IL, Carin (Andy) Keller of Rockford, IL, and Brett GeRue (Nancy Conrad) of Rockford, IL; great grandchildren, Savanah, DaKoda, Trinity, Austin, Emma, Olivia, Jordan and Sydney; sister-in-law, Grace Rolli of Dodgeville, WI.
She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Fred Rolli, Walter Rolli, Charles Rolli, Martha Jeffrey, Frieda Ast, Edith Rolli and Hilda Lemmerhirt.

Walter Griesman, 89, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, January 28, 2005 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 9, 1915 in Russia, the son of Conrad and Emily Pabst Griesman. Walter married Marion Newkirk on May 12, 1939 in Beloit, WI. She predeceased him on October 5, 2002.
Walter was employed by R&R Bowl, retiring in 1982. He was inducted into the Beloit Bowling Hall of Fame on October 31, 1992. Walter was a member of Redeemer Covenant Church. He enjoyed off track betting.
Survivors include his children, Judy McCawley of Birmingham, AL, Patricia (Al) Turner of Beloit, WI and Larry (Pat) Griesman of Rockford, IL; seven grandchildren, Robin, Lisa, Kelly, Tom, Becky, Lindsey and T.J.; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Eddie (Liz) Griesman of Sun City, AZ; one sister, Emily Erickson of Chicago, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, Alex, Ty and Kenny Griesman and one sister, Fredia Griesman
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2005 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Christopher Carlson from Redeemer Covenant Church officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Beloit Bowling Association.
Samuel L. Giacalone, 86, of Beloit, WI, died Sunday, March 6, 2005 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.
He was born on March 26, 1918 in Beloit, WI, the son of Joseph and Vita Lombardo Giacalone. Samuel was a graduate of South Beloit High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Samuel married Josephine M. Piccione on October 2, 1948 in Beloit, WI.
Samuel was employed by Fairbanks Morse Company for 43 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the South Beloit American Legion Post # 0288, Knights of Columbus Council #605, Fairbanks Morse Quarter Century Club and St, Thomas Catholic Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Josephine Giacalone; children, Joseph (Mary) Giacalone of Sun Prairie, WI, James (Pamela) Giacalone of Rockton, IL and Michael (Laura) Giacalone of Roscoe, IL; granddaughters, Lia Marie Giacalone, Corinna Ann Giacalone and Anna Nicole Giacalone; sisters, Mary McOtis of Beloit, WI, Virginia (Russell) Guastella of Madison, WI, Josephine (Samuel) La Sala of Rockford, IL and Rose Giacalone of Beloit, WI; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, infant brother, Samuel and brother-in-law, Gerald McOtis.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005 in St. Thomas Catholic Church with Fr. Jerome Koutnik officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, 2005 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with a Rosary service at 4:45 p.m.
Donald J. Gearhart “Dangerous Don”, 77, left this world on January 22, 2005 in Florida. Don spent the winters in Largo, Florida and the summer months he resided in South Beloit.
Don was born May 16, 1927 in Racine WI, the son of Jesse J. and Lucille M. Billeadoux Gearhart. He attended schools in Eagle Grove and Des Moines, Iowa. Don was a World War II veteran. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy; where he was later transferred to the Construction Battalion better known as the C.Bs. His unit was disbanded in 1945. Don was then transferred back to the regular Navy until his discharge in late 1946. He married Theda Mae Bennett in DeMoines, Iowa on February 23, 1945. She predeceased him on October 29, 1992. He later married Agnes (Addie) Smith on August 23, 1993 at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas. She predeceased him on August 7, 1994.
Don was a resident of Beloit, WI since 1948 working for the Racine Feet Hosiery Mill in So. Beloit, Illinois before opening Gearhart’s TV and Appliance with is father, in 1950. His father, Jess, retired in 1969. Don then continued to run the family business until he retired in 1981. Douglas, his son, continued running the family business while his dad moved to Florida and became a resident there. Don was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. He formerly attended Our Lady of Assumption church for many years. Don loved the game of golf and spent many days at the Krueger Haskell Golf Course always trying to perfect his game and hoping for that evasive hole in one, which he finally achieved on September 23, 2003. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a great love for his family. Don will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his beloved, Shirley Siekierski of 10 years; one son, Douglas (Jan) Gearhart; one brother, Kenneth (Ann) Gearhart; one sister, Sherry Maloney; He is further survived by three granddaughters, Chris Timm of Brodhead, WI., Connie (Michael) Rankins of Aurora IL., and Laurie (Alfredo) Aguilar of Social Circle, GA; six great grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his oldest sister, Margaret Smiley.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2005 in St. Jude Catholic Church with Fr. Jim Kuhn officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday in the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his name.
Fern L. Gunn, 81, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, January 1, 2005 in Beloit Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born February 27, 1923 in Medford, WI, the son of Herbert and Myrtle Peterson Dodge. Fern was a graduate of Medford High School. She married Shannon L. Gunn on October 4, 1941 in Chippewa Falls, WI. He predeceased her on August 9, 2003.
Fern was a manager in the area for Trichem and Artex. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her children, Gary (Marian) Gunn of Marshfield, WI, Dennis Gunn, Gordon (Nancy) Gunn and Brad (Rhonda) Gunn all of Beloit, WI; 15 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Gerri) Dodge of Birnamwood, WI.
She was predeceased by her parents and daughter, Karol.
Private services were held on Thursday, January 6, 2004. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
Agnes M. Govert, 91, of Beloit, WI, died Sunday, November 28, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital, just one day from her 92nd birthday.
She was born November 29, 1912 in Muenster, Germany, coming to America when she was 12 years old. Agnes was the oldest of two daughters born to John and Antonia Stockman. She married Alphons Govert in October 25, 1933 in South Dakota moving to Wisconsin in 1952. Agnes was a homemaker all her life preferring to raise her eight sons.
Survivors include her sons, Walter (Charlene) Govert, Richard (Pamela) Govert, Leon (Diana) Govert, Ray Govert, Ralph (Donna) Govert, Louis (Karen) Govert, and Francis (Terry) Govert; nine grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; Agnes’ longevity let her enjoy her fourth generation including nine great grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren; other survivors include her sister, Antonia Kopp of Box Elder, South Dakota; daughter-in-law, Penny Govert; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Agnes will be sadly missed by all who have ever known her.
Agnes was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Alphons in 1982 and her oldest son, Gerald.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2004 in St. Jude Catholic Church with Fr. Steve Kortendick officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday in the church.
