Elizabeth “Betty” Gleasman, 92, of Beloit died Friday morning at Beloit Memorial Hospital and has gone home to be with her Lord. A wonderful and loving sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was born April 15, 1912 in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Leonard and Edna Schmidt. She married Laurence Lamont Gleasman in Dubuque, Iowa in March, 1938. After 50 years of marriage, he preceded her in death in March, 1989.

Mrs. Gleasman is survived by her daughter Barbara Underwood and husband Robert Underwood, of Whitewater; two grandsons (Jim Underwood and wife Jeanne of Austin, Texas, and Michael Underwood and wife LuAnn of Spring, Texas) and four great grandchildren (Tara Conneally, Timothy Underwood, and Andrew Underwood of Spring, and Sam Underwood of Austin) and many nieces and nephews. Her brother Christian “Christy” Schmidt lives in Briggsville, Wisconsin. She has received tremendous support from her caring neighbors and friends over recent years – her family deeply appreciates their care and service.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on November 30, 2004 at Christ United Methodist Church, 1227 Liberty Avenue, Beloit, WIth Reverend Jo Bierer officiating. Family and friends will gather after the service for light lunch and refreshments in the church fellowship hall. Private burial will follow. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service in the church. Memorials to Christ United Methodist Church would be appreciated. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI assisted the family with the arrangements.

Elizabeth Ann Greenlee 88, of South Beloit, IL, died Tuesday, November 23, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 5, 1916 in South Beloit, IL, the daughter of James and Helen Garrity Paden. Elizabeth attended South Beloit Schools. She married Robert H. Greenlee on August 28, 1937 in St. Peter Catholic Church, South Beloit, IL. Elizabeth was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of South Beloit, IL; three sons, William Greenlee, David (Diane) Greenlee both of Beloit, WI and Gerald (Joanne) Greenlee of Machesney Park, IL; seven grandchildren, Kerri (Jack) Grawe, Kathi (Todd) Weberg, Kris (Mike) Navarra, A.J. (Tracy) Greenlee, Amy (David) Kettle, Lisa Greenlee and Robert Greenlee; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Leo Paden of Sparta, WI; one sister, Mary Paden of South Beloit, IL; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, four brothers, Thomas, Jack, Joseph and Orville Paden, four sisters, Dorothy, Irene and Helene Paden and Ursula Lesser.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2004 in St. Peter Catholic Church with Fr. Jerome P. Koutnik officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will also be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Monday in the church.

A memorial fund will be established at a later date.

Evelyn “Evie” J. Galauner of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Premier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born in Wilton, WI, the daughter of Victor and Jessie Creviston Von Ruden. Evelyn was a graduate of Wilton High School, Wilton, WI.

Evelyn was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the Altar Society of the church. She also was a member of the Women of the Moose Club, Chapter #56 of Beloit. Evelyn was employed at Adams Korn Kurls, Fairbanks Morse & Company in the grinding room, she was housekeeper at Beloit Memorial Hospital and the head housekeeper at the Holiday Inn. Later she worked at Fairbanks Morse & Company in the grinding room and at the Stateline Foundry for several years as a housekeeper.

Survivors include her two daughters, Shirley (Ernie) Mortimer of Beloit, WI, and Judy Koehler of Beloit, WI; five grandchildren, Carrie (Bob) Klug of Oak Creek, WI, Kelly (Ken) Turner of Freeburg, IL, Michael (Robyn) Koehler of Beloit, WI, Tom (Stacey) Koehler of Lincoln, CA, and Jeff (Kaye) Mortimer of Farmington, MN ; six great grandchildren, Kurtis Koehler, Allyson Koehler, Chynna Haase, Maggie Mortimer, Mason Mortimer and Josh Turner; brother, Leonard Von Ruden of Wilton, WI; sister-in-law, Loretta Linde of Plover, WI; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, great grandson, Joshua, three brothers, Lyle Von Ruden, Glen Von Ruden and Lavern Von Ruden.

Graveside Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Wilton, WI, with Father Brian Konopa officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, November 22, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with a Rosary Service at 5:00 p.m.and from 12:00 noon Tuesday until 12:45 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Wilton, WI.

Walter William Gahl, 78, passed away October 28, 2004 at the Clark Fork Valley Hospital.

He was born in Custer, SD on January 12, 1926, the son of Paul and Margaret (Roetzel) Gahl. Walter grew up and attended school in Custer; he then went on to work on various local farms. He enlisted into the US Air Force on July 9, 1946 at Omaha, NE. After receiving the WWII Victory medal, Walter was honorably discharged at July 8, 1946 at Rapid City SD. He married Avis Clarambeau on June 22, 1950 in Cavour, SD. To that union were born four sons, Bill, Bob, Gene, Steven and a daughter, Juanita. They moved to Beloit, WI in 1955. Walter was employed as a welder with the Beloit Corporation up until his retirement in 1988. Avis passed away in 1987. Upon her death, Walter decided to move back to the mountains that reminded him so much of the Black Hills of So. Dakota where he grew up. He moved to Plains, MT to make his final home. He spent time in his later years doing what he loved-––woodworking and running a chain saw. He loved to make all sorts of crafts to give to friends and family. He will be missed.

Walter is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Avis; two brothers: Gerald & Herbert; and recently a daughter-in-law, Karen.

He is survived by his daughter, Juanita Jachetta (her husband, Steve) of Warden, WA; four sons: Bill of Plains, Bob (and wife, Barbara) of Corsica, SD, Gene (and wife, Carol) and Steven, all of Newman Lake, WA; two sisters: Ella Mae Wilson of Albuquerque, NM and Pauline Selken of Arlington, SD; seventeen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2004 in the Messiah Lutheran Church with the Reverend Dennis Pingel officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services Wednesday in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

George P. Gerhardt, 83, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 in his home.

He was born February 17, 1921 in Lyndon Station, WI, the son of Peter and Mary Powers Gerhardt. George was a 1939 graduate of Mauston High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. George married Vanetta “DeDe” Davis on August 25, 1951 in St. Thomas Catholic Church, Beloit, WI.

George was employed by Fairbanks Morse Company and the Beloit Police Department, retiring in January of 1979. Following his retirement George was the bailiff for the court of Judge Richard Long for many years. He was a member of the Beloit Elks Lodge #864, Beloit Police Department 20 year Club and a 3rd Degree Member Knight’s of Columbus St. Thomas Council #605. George was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Vanetta “DeDe” Gerhardt of Beloit, WI; two daughters, Cynthia (Richard) Nenahlo of Anchorage, Alaska and Michelle Dreseher of McKinney, TX; four grandchildren, Christina Nenahlo, Thomas Nenahlo, Nicholas Dreseher and Christopher Dreseher.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Peter Gerhardt, two sisters, Marie Pody and Anne Berto.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2004 in St. Jude Catholic Church with Fr. Steve Kortendick and Fr. Bill Connell concelebrating with Deacon James Davis assisting. Entombment will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Monday in the church.

Memorials may be given in his name to St. Jude Catholic Church or Beloit Regional Hospice.

Angela D. Griep, 41, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, September 20, 2004 in the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, WI.

She was born on April 14, 1963 on Easter Sunday in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Dale O. and Donna L. LaGrange Griep. Angela was a 1982 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. She was a volunteer at Beloit Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed painting and taking care of her cats Bugsy and Carrie. Angela was a member of Calvary Tabernacle and was deeply devoted to her church and faith.

Survivors include her mother, Donna of Beloit, WI; brothers, William Griep of Beloit, WI, Richard (Lori) Griep of Beaver Dam, WI and Jonathan Griep of Beloit, WI; sisters, Judith (Jim) Pulaski of Beloit, WI and Carolyn (Lang) Calcord of Loves Park, IL; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Griep, Joshua Griep, Kaitlyn Griep, Andrea Griep, Kaylee Griep, Dylan Griep, Ed Bender, Wade Pulaski and Lisa Hughes; great nieces and nephews, Emily Hughes, Jeffrey Hughes, Matthew Bender and T.J. Pulaski.

Angela was well loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all.

She was predeceased by her father.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.

Robert R. Gitchel, 56, of Beloit, WI, died suddenly Sunday, August 15, 2004 in the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, WI, with family and friends present.

He was born February 26, 1948 in Rockford, IL, the son of William and Alice Wilger Gitchel. Bob was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Marines. He married Linda D. Dale on December 29, 1972 in the Church by the Side of the Road in Rockton, IL. She predeceased him June 28, 2002.

Bob was employed by Fairbanks Morse Company for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and horses. Bob also enjoyed playing pool and being with his friends, family and especially his grandchildren. He was a 20 year member of the Moose Lodge #191 and also a member of the Eagles Club and the V.F.W. Post # 2306.

Survivors include his two sons, Kevin (Sheila) Gitchel and William Gitchel both of Beloit, WI; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Shawn, C.J., Randy, Alissa, Ashley, and Connor Lee; two brothers, Doug (Joan) Gitchel of Arizona and Dwight Hall of Florida; one sister, Joan Gitchel of Byron, IL; in-laws, Albert and Thelma Taylor of Beloit, WI; brothers-in-law, Albert (Pam) Taylor, Gary (Dana) Taylor, Bill (Jean) Taylor, Jack (Cindy) Bowles and Steve (Ivy) Bowles; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Russ) Banonas and Vicki (David) Turner; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and especially a longtime, lifetime friend, Vicki Urbin who was a very helpful friend to Bob and his late wife Linda.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Gary W. Gitchel and Ken Hall; step mother, Ronnie Hall.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Military Rites accorded by the V.F.W. Post #2306. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services Thursday in the funeral home with a Moose service at 1:45 p.m.

Lester D. Grover, 62, of South Beloit, IL, died Tuesday, August 3, 2004 in his home.

He was born October 14, 1941 in Mauston, WI, the son of Lorenzo and Thelma Sturdevant Grover. Lester worked for Blackhawk, Ideal, and Rogers Concrete for 40 years. He was very involved in hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Lester loved his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughters, Debra Bailey of South Beloit, IL and Leslie Stuart of Buffalo, WY; five grandchildren, Tosha, Amber, Fawen, Danny and Tyler; one sister, Barbara Williams of Missouri.

He was predeceased by parents, two brothers, Bruce and Roger, one sister, Regina.

Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Gene Van Galder officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services Friday in the funeral home.

Terrance G. “Terry” Gusk, 42, of Rockford, IL, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 in his home.

He was born July 9, 1961 in Port Washington, WI, the son of Melfred E. and Carol A. McGillivray Gusk.

Survivors include his daughter, Julia Hoover of South Beloit, IL; his parents, Melfred and Carol Gusk of Beloit, WI; two sisters, Sherree Kaltzed of Rockford, IL and Lori (James) Mueller of Beloit, WI; one brother, Larry Gusk of South Beloit, IL; nieces and nephews, Katrina, Jeremiah, Casey Blake, Hunter, Caitlin, Chelsea and Taylor.

He was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend William W. Wagner officiating.
