Ruth Lillian Kroll
Ruth Lillian Kroll, 82, of Townsend, died Monday, October 30, 2000 at the Nu-Roc Community Healthcare Center, Blackwell. Ruth was born February 11, 1918 in Cecil, WI the daughter of the late James and Cecelia Lindsau Campbell. She grew up in Cecil and graduated from high school. On May 21, 1941 she married Robert Kroll, who preceded her in death on January 20, 1998. They lived in West DePere where they farmed and she worked at a nursing home until moving to Townsend in 1970. While living in Townsend she continued to work for a local nursing home and also for Linssen's Restaurant. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Townsend. She loved her family dearly. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and her many pets, especially Benji. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Gil Cray, Ruther Glen, VA; Linda Allan Harris, Green Bay; six sons, Dale Cheryl Kroll, Green Bay; Curt Ann Kroll, Green Bay; Corey Pat Kroll, Arizona; Bob Cheryl Kroll, Lakewood; Tom Kroll, Townsend; Jeff Rhonda Kroll, Townsend; one sister, Elaine Dantoin, Green Bay; one sister-in-law, Izza Waffle, Greenville, WI; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Robert, she also was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters. Visitation was held on Thursday, November 2 from 5-8 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Townsend. Visitation continued on Friday, November 3 from 9 until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gary Bratz officiating. Interment at Forest Home Cemetery, Townsend. Suminski Funeral Home, Wabeno assisted the family with arrangements.

Chester J. 'Chet' Katch
Chester J. 'Chet', 78, Green Bay, died Monday, October 30, 2000 after a brief stay at Western Village. He was born June 7, 1922, in the Town of Angelica, to the late John and Ida Luecke Katch. He attended Angelica grade school and Pulaski High School. Chet served in World War II in the European Theatre, receiving the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. On September 6, 1947, he married Betty Jane Behnke at Assumption B.V.M. in Pulaski. Chet started with Red Owl Stores, Inc. in June of 1947. He purchased his own store in Oconto in 1959 and operated that business until he retired in 1975. He was active in many organizations in the City of Oconto. He was a 3rd Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, a 50 year member of the American Legion and a past president of the Kiwanis Club. Chet contributed to the City of Oconto by serving as the Director of the Oconto Industrial Park, City Coordinator for Industry and President of the Economic Development Corporation of Oconto County. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jane; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Kris Katch, Peoria, IL; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Dan Cisar, Peshtigo; five grandchildren, Sara, Brian, Keith and Anna Cisar and Matthew Erik Katch. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Keith Mark; six brothers and three sisters. Friends called at St. Jude Catholic Church, Green Bay from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, November 2. The Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Ron Belitz officiating. Burial in Fort Howard Memorial Park. Blaney Funeral Home, Green Bay, assisted the family.

Viola Pat Wickert
Viola Pat Wickert, 81, Algoma, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000 at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit. She was born Oct. 10, 1919 in Casco to the late William and Emma Dworak Ebert. Pat was raised in Algoma. She married Lloyd Santy March 27, 1948 in Manitowoc. They lived in Algoma, Chicago and California. Pat was a stenographer for an insurance company for many years in California. Lloyd preceded her in death June 9, 1965. Pat stayed in California for another five years. She then married Walter Wickert in Reno June 26, 1966. They moved back to Algoma in 1970. Walter preceded her in death Jan. 20, 1985. Pat then moved back to California in 1989 for a couple of years and then back to Algoma. She was a member of St. Paul"s Lutheran Church.She is survived by two sons, Lloyd Mary Santy, Sturgeon Bay; Laurence Gladys Santy, San Francisco, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mabel Muzz Millard, Sturgeon Bay; and Dorothy Howard Duntz, Conover; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two husbands, and two sisters, Gertrude and Ruth. Friends called at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, from 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, until the time of services at 11 a.m., with Rev. Joel Gaertner officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Donna Devlin
Donna Devlin, 52, of Algoma, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000. She was born Dec. 11, 1947 in Berlin to Leona H. Danowski and the late Donald H. Bintz. Donna was a graduate of Berlin High School and studied art at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay from 1992-97. On July 3, 1992, she married Peter Devlin, a Vietnam veteran. Donna was employed as a certified nurse assistant in Sturgeon Bay and Sister Bay. She had also previously been employed by ShopKo in the pharmacy and dental departments. She loved art and was a talented painter and sculptor, her favorite art form being large, three-dimensional sculptures which were displayed at several art galleries. Donna hosted the family holiday celebrations and family togetherness was most important to her. She is survived by her husband, Peter; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dayna Gierke, New Hope, Minn.; Tammy and Marcus Brock, Green Bay; Jennifer and John Engebregtsen, Kiel; and their father, Dennis Gierke; three stepchildren and a stepdaughter-in-law, Sean and Cozette Devlin, Rachael Devlin and Thomas Devlin, all of Green Bay; nine grandchildren, Rachael, Laura, Ahnalee, April, Christopher, Heather, Brandon, Pearce and Kyra; her mother, Leona Bintz, Green Bay; one sister, Ramelle Karnopp, Oconto Falls; one nephew and godson, Andrew Karnopp, Milwaukee; and two half-sisters, Amanda and Victoria. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald H. Bintz. Friends called at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Funeral service was at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Norbert Kox officiating.

George S. Paider
George S. Paider, 81, Luxemburg, formerly of Pilsen, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, Oct. 26, 2000, at his home. He was born on Oct. 15, 1919 in Pilsen to the late Joseph and Anna Wavrunek Paider. George operated the family farm in Pilsen. He also owned and operated a bowling alley and bar in Waupaca for five years. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Joseph Ct. 2080, Pilsen. George served as the Town Chairman for the Town of Montpelier, on the Kewaunee County Board, and on the Bank of Luxemburg Board of Directors for many years. He bowled on Rendezvous" bowling team for 50 years. On Sept. 4, 1943, George married Carmen Davister at St. Hubert Church, Sugarbush. He is survived by his wife, Carmen; eight children, Joe Pat Paider, Weyauwega; John Ann Paider, Luxemburg; Josie Herb Trask, Milwaukee; Jim Georgette Paider, Ellsworth; Jeff Debbie Paider, Jerry Alice Paider, all of Luxemburg; Jake Laura Paider, Brussels; and Jesse Kathy Paider, Luxemburg; 21 grandchildren, Tim Dorothy Paider, Tom Michelle Paider, Sarah John Mueller, Greg, Chris, Connie, Joseph Paider, Greg Bobbi Alsteen, Jessica Dave Prado, Wendy Jeff Smith, Wanda Brian Doughty, Bill and Zach Paider, Marshall Paider, Brooke and Adam Paider, Danielle, Samantha and Garrett Paider, Tom and Lauren Bader; five great-grandchildren, Jessica and Brenda Paider, Jonah and Matthew Paider, Kylie Doughty; two sisters, Sr. Hermana Paider and Sr. Germaine Paider, Bay Settlement; and several other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Paider; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Fr. Roger Paider, Frank and Helen Paider; one sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Ed Bardouche. Friends called at the McMahon Funeral Home, Luxemburg, from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, and from 8-9:45 a.m. Monday. A Catholic Order of Foresters prayer service was held at 6 p.m., and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday. The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Parish, St. Joseph-St. John site, Pilsen, with Rev. C. Terry LaCombe officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pilsen.

Edward C. David
Edward C. David, 90, Gillett formerly Breed, died in Gillett October 27, 2000. He was born July 8, 1910 in Breed to the late Charles and Mary Ellen Powell David. Ed had farmed in Breed for many years, later in life he was employed by Elmer Hubbard as a crusher operator. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Edward was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Suring. Survivors include his brother and his family: Ralph Esther David of Green Bay; his niece, Linda Robert Rolley of Green Bay; a nephew, Michael Jane David of Green Bay. He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Heise. Visitation was held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring on Monday, October 30 beginning at 1:30 p.m. Funeral services were Monday 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Russell Kampfer officiating. Burial in Breed Union Cemetery.

Henry J. Weier
Henry J. Weier, 83, of 9297 County Rd. Z, Pound died Saturday, October 28, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls. The son of the late John and Julia Klein Weier was born May 8, 1917 in the town of Brazeau. He served in the Army Air Corps for four years and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. On October 18, 1941 Henry married the former May Hoffman. He operated a farm in the town of Brazeau until retire-ment. He helped organize the Brazeau Blackhawks in 1951. Henry was a member of Kalbes-Seewald American Legion Post 280, Coleman; member of the Klondike Sportsman Club where he was President for a number of years; member of the 4-H Club and was a leader for few years; member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Klondike where he served on the first parish council and was one of the original lectors which he did for 15 years, was bread and cup minister and was an usher and served Mass for funerals. He was a member and Vice-President of the Cemetery Board for over 20 years and also a member of the Jitterbug Club of Long Lake, WI. Surviving are his wife, May Weier, Pound; three sons, David Diann Weier of Milwaukee; Howard Weier of Pound; and Steve Weier of Franksville, WI; nine grandchildren, three stepgrandsons, and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Mirkes of Springhill, FL and Eleanore Harry Dunn of Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Laura Sandgren, Florence Weier, Sr. Amata Rose and Ester Kloes; and three brothers, Martin, Raymond and Ed. Friends called at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman from 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of services. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. John Hephner officiating. Interment in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery, Klondike. Military rites were conducted at graveside.

Berniece L. Giese
Berniece L. Giese, 84, Suring, died October 27, 2000 at Woodland Village. She was born September 23, 1916 in the Town of How to the late John and Caroline Swenty Luebeck. Berniece married Walter H. Giese on May 29, 1934. Her family was always of great importance to her; the family spent lots of time together at their cottage on Shay Lake. Bingo and picking berries were among favorite pastimes. Berniece had been employed in the Suring Public School system as a cook for 26 years. She was a member of the Suring United Methodist Church. Survivors include her four daughters and their families: Louise Luedeman of Portage, Audrey Ronald Whiffen of Green Bay, Roberta Randy Letkiewicz of Germantown, Susan Eugene Eisner of Oneida; her son and his family, Steve Ruth Giese of Suring; two brothers, Elmer Willa Luebeck of California, Ellsworth Isabel Luebeck of Suring; two sisters, Marge Matt Mitchell of Suring, JoAnn Gary Sarles of Arizona; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Berniece was preceded in death by her husband Walter on August 6, 1993; four sisters, Dewina, Lucille, Lurella and Leona; a son-in-law, Donald Luedeman in 1997, and granddaughter, Laura Luedeman, in 1984. Visitation was held Monday, October 30 at the Suring United Methodist Church beginning at 10 a.m. Funeral services were 11 a.m. with Pastor Mara Pheno officiating. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A memorial has been established. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, Suring in charge of arrangements.
