ROBERT W. HARE, 81, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 in Fair Oaks Health Care Center, South Beloit, IL.

He was born October 5, 1921 in Nappanee, IN, the son of Howard and Nelle Judd Hare. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the carrier USS Marcus Island in WWII. He married Edith E. Melter on December 12, 1942 in the First United Methodist Church, Beloit, WI.

Robert was employed by Fairbanks Morse & Company for 15 years and later by Beloit Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He was a ham radio operator.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who brought laughter to all with his humor and magic.

Survivors include his wife, Edith; four children, Richard (Jean) Hare of Ontonagon, MI, Vicki (Norman) Watson of Roscoe, IL, Suzanne (Bill) Bolen of Indiana polis, IN, and Michael (Lynda) Hare of Garden Grove, CA; 19 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Cameron Hare, and one great granddaughter, Kelsey Marie Lydick.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Jim Rowlette officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. There will be no visitation.

JAMES T. HOUGHTON, 50, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, June 13, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 14, 1953 in Beloit, WI, the son of William and Teresa Kenucane Houghton. Jim was a Vietnam veteran serving with the U.S. Navy. He married Bonnie L. Lloyd on April 20, 1974 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Janesville, WI.

Jim was formerly employed by Beloit Power Systems for 11 years and by Blackhawk Gas & Supply. He was a former member of Newark Gun Club. Jim enjoyed his time outside gardening and hunting. He was an avid Nascar and sports fan. Jim was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; two children, Sheri Houghton and Kenneth Houghton both of Beloit, WI; granddaughter, Paige Houghton; his mother, Teresa Houghton of Beloit, WI; one brother, Mark Houghton of Beloit, WI; several aunts, uncle, and other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his father.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Sister Joselda Kuhle officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.

LaVERNE A. HANSON, 80, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, July 7, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born January 10, 1923 in Avon Township, WI, the son of Arthur E. and Hazel Masteun Hanson. LaVerne was a 1942 graduate of Orfordville High School. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany receiving a bronze star and two silver stars. LaVerne married Berneice Folkers on February 4, 1976 in Janesville, WI.

LaVerne was owner and operator of Hanson Litho Inc. from 1966 until his retirement in 1990. He was formerly employed by Beloit Daily News, Delavan Shopping News, Litho Productions in Madison, WI, a foreman at Beloit Litho Inc., and was instrumental in the establishment of two other printing companies in the Beloit area. He was a lifetime member of the DAV. LaVerne was an avid hunter. He was a member of Luther Valley Church.

Survivors include his wife, Berneice of Beloit, WI; one daughter, Dr. Peggy L. Hanson Psy.D of Buffalo Grove, IL; two grandchildren, Raquel (Sergio) List-Ramirez of Vernon Hills, IL, and Shannon (Jennifer) List of Gibson City, IL; three great grandchildren, Patricia List, Devin List, and Austin List; three sisters, Charlotte Eichar of Litchfield, IL, Arvilla Whitman of Beloit, WI, and Arbutus (Clayton) Eggen of Schofield, WI; two step daughters, Janet (James) Mohr of Delavan, WI, and Cheryl Baker of Elkhorn, WI; four step grandchildren, Erica Mohr of Indiana polis, IN, Steven Mohr of Delavan, WI, Erin and Dustin Baker of Elkhorn, WI; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, one daughter, Patricia L., two sisters, Florence Thompson and Mercedes Hanson, great granddaughter, Justus Marie List, two brothers-in-law and one niece.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2003 in Luther Valley Church with the Reverend Mary Froiland officiating. Burial will be in Luther Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Thursday in the church.

Memorials may be given in his name to the American Alzheimer’s Association.

MARY A. HOOVER, 87, of Beloit, WI, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 10, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital as a result of an automobile accident.

She was born November 16, 1915 in Black Earth, WI, the daughter of Harold and Irene Foss Peterson. Mary married Daniel L. Hoover on July 24, 1943 in Beloit, WI. He predeceased her on December 14, 1994.

Mary was formerly employed by the Beloit Welfare Office then managed the Welfare Office in San Diego, CA, retiring to become a devoted full time mother.

Mary touched the lives of so many people in special ways and will be missed by all.

Survivors include her one daughter, Susan (Gary) Beeman of Darien, WI; two sons, Daniel J. “Jim” Hoover, and John L. (Bernadine) Hoover both of Beloit, WI; seven granddaughters, Kelly Hoover, Molly Hoover, Megan Hoover, Kristi (Matt) Kauffman, Jenni Hoover, Wendy (Gene) Krizmanich, and Jennifer Beeman; two great grandchildren, Ashley and Kenzie Krizmanich; three sisters-in-law, Doris Jones of Rockford, IL, Marion Peterson and Arlene Hoover both of Beloit, WI; two brothers-in-law, Warren Goodyear of Beloit, WI and Herb Jones of Rockford, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, an infant son, two sisters, Virginia Dahl and Vesta Stockwell, two brothers, Taft Peterson and Woody Peterson.

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2003 in the People’s Church 340 W. Grand Ave. Beloit, WI, with Pastor Wendall Boyer officiating. Graveside services will be Friday, May 16, 2003 in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services Thursday in the church.

JESSE L. HOLLIS, 84, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, April 5, 2003 in his home.

He was born June 28, 1918 in Thayer, MO, the son of Harvey and Maude Boykin Hollis. Jesse married Charlotte Ramsey on August 10, 1940 in Dubuque, IA. She predeceased him on February 5, 1997.

Jesse was employed by the Beloit Foundry, Fairbanks Morse & Company, and later by General Motors as a forklift driver, retiring in 1982. He was also a volunteer at the Town of Beloit Fire Department. Jesse was a member of the Beloit Moose Club. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren. Jesse was a member of Our Lady Of The Assumption Catholic Church.

“Jesse will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.”

Survivors include his five children, LeRoy (Cheryl) Hollis of Garden Grove, CA, Terry (Jack) Zane, Sherry (Bill “Art”) Edwardson, Rhonda (Steve) Heumiller, and Jodi Hollis all of Beloit, WI; 14 grandchildren, Darla, Jack, Jared, Danielle, Billy, Jesse, Deanna, Dana, Steve, Carolyn, Trent, Lori, Mitch, and Scott; 14 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Les Hollis and one sister, Bertha Stump.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003 in the Our Lady Of The Assumption Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with a moose service at 6 p.m.

Memorials may be given to Beloit Regional Hospice or the OLA building fund.

Alan G. Hayden, 47, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003 in his home.

He was born July 11, 1955 in Beloit, WI, the son of Glen F. and LaVonne Anderson Hayden. Alan was a 1973 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. Alan married Mary A. Morrison on September 27, 1975 in First Congregational Church, Beloit, WI.

Alan was employed by Ace Hardware as the rental manager. He was a member of Second Congregational Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; son, Bradly Hayden of Orfordville, WI; daughter, Joanie Hayden of Janesville, WI; three grandchildren, Trevor, Darrik, and Emileigh; his mother, LaVonne (Bob Bagley) Hayden of Brodhead, WI; two brothers, Mark D. (Patty) Hayden of Durand, IL, and Scott A. Hayden of Trego, WI; two aunts, Eula Hayden of Beloit, WI and Frances Anderson of Davis, IL; two uncles, John Cockrell of Beloit, WI and Nathan (Betsy) Anderson of Beloit, WI; several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and his faithful dog, Haylee.

Alan was a problem solver. He loved to fix things and by fixing things he made everyone’s life easier. Alan enjoyed his gadgets. He loved to sing but more importantly he loved to be with his grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his father, grandparents, father-in-law and mother-in-law.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with his nephew Rodney Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be 4 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

CHARLES HOGAN, 68, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born January 26, 1935 in Shopiere, WI, the son of Charles R. and Isabel Reynolds Hogan. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Janet-Jo Hudson on May 25, 1957 in Beloit, WI.

Charles was employed by Kerry Food Ingredients for 31 years as a blender, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed golfing, coaching Little League thru Beloit Legion Baseball, Packer fan, traveling and a special moment in his life scoring a hole in one in June of 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Janet-Jo; five children, Shawn (Karen) Hogan of Beloit, WI, Susan (Michael) Bishop of Waupun, WI, Shelly Hogan of Beloit, WI, Scott (Cindy) Hogan of Hendersonville, TN, and Chip (Kathy) Hogan of Beloit, WI; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer Cook, Christopher and Nicole Bishop, Amber Shannon, Michael Shannon, Michael Hogan, Scott Hogan, Samantha Hogan, Maggie, Hannah and Sam Hogan; four great grandchildren, Brianna Ramirez, Jazemine Stolze, Dylan Stolze, and Devan Stolze; six sisters, Geraldine (Pete) Tielke of Solon Springs, WI, Beverly Welch of Pheonix, AZ, June (Charles) Rinehart of Sharon, WI, Shirley (James) Stein of Rockton, IL, Isabel Crowley of Beloit, WI, and Nancy (Ed) Rau of Hayward, WI; one brother, John (Mary) Halderson of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was predeceased by his parents, stepfather, Ike Halderson, and two sisters, Janice and Alice.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003 in Our Lady Of The Assumption Catholic Church, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.

Memorials may be given to the OLA building fund.

Walter Emil Imm, 78, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, October 21, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born on May 31, 1926 in Rastatt, Germany, the son of Emil and Klara Nestler Imm. Walter was a graduate of Carlton College and the University of Wisconsin Madison. He married Susanne Schoenleiter on July 19, 1952 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Walter was employed by Beloit Corporation, retiring in 1986. He loved to play golf, hunt and fish. In his later years he took up woodworking and was a member of the Wood Carvers Association of Wisconsin.

Survivors include his loving wife, Susanne of Beloit, WI; two sons, Peter Imm of Vancouver, Canada, and Stephen Imm of South Beloit, IL; one brother, Wolfgang (Edith) Imm of Germany; two sisters, Sigrid Ehrler of Germany and Waltraud (Helmut) Schubert of Ireland; one niece, five nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents and son, Brian.

Walter will be greatly missed by his family.

Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. with Pastor David Meding officiating. In keeping with Walters wishes, there will be no visitation.

Memorials may be given in his name to the American Heart Association.
