George P. Konter, 77, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, January 3, 2004 in Beloit Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on October 7, 1926 in Waumandee, WI, the son of Peter and Magdalene Faber Konter. George married Viola Shaldach on September 4, 1946. She died on May 2, 1980.
He later married Grace Turner Christianson on June 13, 1981.

George was employed by Allis Chalmers in LaCrosse, WI. for 24 years. He then went to work for Chrysler in Belvidere, IL. for 19 years, before retiring in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Grace; daughter, Patricia (Michael) Norman of Spring Green, WI; step children, Christine (Tom) Kostka of Beloit, WI, Barbara (Clarence) Seymour of Milan, IL, Daniel Christianson of Brodhead, WI, Steven (Lisa) Christianson of Beloit, WI; daughter- in- law, Linda (Dean) Packard of Portage, WI; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister, Alice Skroch of Independence, WI; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, first wife, Viola Shaldach; stepson, Dr. Richard Christianson; two brothers, Frank and Adolph and one sister, Susan.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2004 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 709 Milton Avenue, Janesville, WI, with the Pastor David Sievert officiating. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Matthew's Church or School.

Beloit attorney Frank X. Kinast, died peacefully Sunday at home. Born in Milwaukee June 21, 1914 to Dr. John J. Kinast DDS and Viola (Bodden) Kinast. In his infancy, the family moved to Beloit. He attended Beloit schools, graduating from Beloit Memorial High School in 1933.

Kinast worked his way through both undergraduate (economics) and law school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received his law degree in 1947, after serving four years in World War II, including three years overseas. He played varsity tennis at UW.

From 1947 to 1950, he served as Rock County assistant district attorney. He then was elected district attorney and was re-elected in 1952.

He married Rock County native Catherine Ann Whitmore on Dec. 31, 1952 at St. Jude Parish, Beloit. The couple had seven children, and he proved a devoted father and husband.

An important achievement during his tenure as district attorney was a revision of the county's system of appropriations, culminating in authorization of a complete audit for 1955 by the state department of auditing.

Kinast entered private practice Jan. 1, 1955, continuing his successful trial career. At the same time, he built a busy family law practice in which he demonstrated a genuine interest in the welfare of his clients. He worked until a month before his death.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Elks, AmVets UW Alumni Association, and the state and local bars; he formerly served on the Beloit Police and Fire Commission and on the Rock County Board, where he chaired the Airport Committee.

Survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters: Christopher G. (Jill) Kinast of Beloit; Rev. Frank X. Kinast, Jr. (Melissa) of Tuscaloosa, AL; Cathy Cameron of San Diego; Elizabeth Strong (Donald) of Everett, WA; and Amy Kinast (Darin Burleigh) of Madison. Grandchildren are Claire and Stephanie Kinast; Jessica Cameron; Kimberley and Luke Strong; and Katie, Abbey and Emily Kinast.

He is also survived by three sisters: Koletta Kendall of Del Rey, FL; Rose Burt (Roy) of Beaverton, OR; and Mary Schultz (Kenneth) of Knoxville, TN.

Predeceased by his parents and by two of his children: Fr. Timothy Kinast and Kimberley Kinast. Also by three brothers: Leo, Albert and John.

A service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Steven Kortendick officiating. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the funeral home.

Ole Kvitle, 97, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, November 10, 2003 in Premier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing.

He was born May 23, 1906 in Cambridge, WI, the son of Hans and Christina Kvitle. Ole was a graduate of Cambridge High School, University of Wisconsin Whitewater, and University of Wisconsin Madison receiving his bachelors and masters degree in education. Ole married Cecelia Axelberg on December 23, 1933 in Joplin, MO. She predeceased him on June 2, 1997.

Ole started his teaching career in Armstrong, WI in 1925, Nashville, WI in 1926, and Cambridge High School in Cambridge, WI from 1933 to 1938. He came to Beloit in 1938 as a teacher and principle for Lincoln Junior High. Ole later was an assistant principle for Beloit Memorial High School from 1951 to 1971. He was a member of the Masonic Morning Star Lodge No 10 F.& A.M. Ole was the former president of the Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed bridge, chess, hunting, fishing, people and reading. He was a member of Second Congregational Church for over 50 years.

Survivors include his dear friends, Maurice and Marie Reynolds of Beloit, WI; nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

He was predeceased by his parents, five sisters and four brothers.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2003 in the Second Congregational Church with the Reverend Douglas Gray officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

Lucille A. Krohn, 84, of Janesville, WI, died Monday, September 8, 2003 in Beloit Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born August 31, 1919 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Herman and Katherine Klettke Herbst. Lucille was a 1937 graduate of Beloit High School. She married Arthur Krohn on June 24, 1961 in Beloit, WI. He predeceased her on December 18, 1972.

Lucille was employed by Freeman Shoe, retiring after 40 years and was a nurse's aid at Beloit Memorial Hospital during WWII. She was a volunteer of the Red Cross and Beloit Memorial Hospital. Lucille was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her sister, Leona Churchill of Janesville, WI; one brother, Floyd (Rose) Herbst of Beloit, WI; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, one brother, Harold, one sister, Lorraine Christensen and an infant sister, Eva.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Mark B. Yates officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

HAROLD E. KUEHL, 85, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born on May 9, 1918 in Iowa, the son of Frederick and Hilda Tangeman Kuehl. Harold graduated from the University of Iowa in 1938, and moved to Chicago to work for Price Waterhouse and Company. He married Jeanette Aegler of Chicago in December of 1942 in Oak Park, IL.

After living in Chicago, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Clarendon Hills and Hinsdale Illinois, Harold and his wife moved to Beloit in 1974 where he worked as comptroller for Beloit College for a few years. He became a very active member of the First Congregational Church serving as treasurer and trustee for many years. Harold was also a member of the Noon Kiwanis Club of Beloit. He was also involved with the past breakfast club for school children, meals on wheels and the reading program for parents.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; three children, Hal (Sharon) Kuehl of Princeton, IL, Judy Burke of Orlando, FL, and Bob (Laurel) Kuehl of Portage, MI; four grandchildren, Sara (Ron) Carroll of Chicago, IL, Adam Kuehl of Portage, MI, Megan and Kevin Burke of Orlando, FL; Harold's siblings include, Ivanell Woods, Howard (Maxine) Kuehl both of Elkader, IA, Myrna McKenna of Laguna Hills, CA, Lois Bennett of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Don (Coralinn) Kuehl of Frederick, MD; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2003 in the First Congregational Church with the Reverend Shawn Stapleton officiating. There will be no visitation. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be given in his name to the First Congregational Church Endowment Fund.

FLORENCE KLINGMAN, 90, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, May 23, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 3, 1913 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of John and Anna Ceiger May. Florence was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Madison. She was a veteran of WWII serving in the Women's Army Corp. Florence married Herbert Klingman on Florence was employed by the Small Business Administration as a coordinator for training. She attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her niece and nephews, Alice Lippincott of Beloit, WI, Earl Schiefelbein of Janesville, WI, Mary and Loren Lippincott of Beloit, WI; several great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, four brothers, and one sister.

Private services will be held in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Watertown, WI. There will be no visitation.

MARY KAY KENT, 67, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, May 8, 2003 in her home.

She was born November 3, 1935 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of William F. and Esther Folgate Engels. Mary Kay was a 1953 graduate of Freeport High School. She married Ray Kent on August 24, 1957 in Embury Methodist Church, Freeport, IL.

Mary Kay was employed by Warner Brake, Godin Real Estate, and Century 21. She was a volunteer in the Beloit Memorial Hospital gift shop. Mary Kay was an avid bridge player and enjoyed bowling and golfing. She loved to entertain and was an excellent cook. Mary Kay was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ray; two sons, Michael R. (Janice H.) Kent of Greencastle, PA, and Douglas (Janet) Kent of Beloit, WI; two grandchildren, Susan Marie Kent and Abigail Marie Kent; one great granddaughter, Jynna Alysse Kent; one brother, William Engels of Ocala, FL.

She was predeceased by her parents and one son, Matthew Kent.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2003 in the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend James Rowlette and the Reverend Philip Allen officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Monday in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Beloit Regional Hospice.

KEITH T. 'Tom'-'Vito' KLADE SR., 56, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, March 24, 2003 in Williams Bay, Walworth County.

He was born July 16, 1946 in Merrill, WI, the son of Frederick and Mildred Plautz Klade. Keith married Carla Barker on November 15, 1975.

Keith was employed by George Williams / Aurora University, Williams Bay, WI, as a grounds supervisor. He was a Green Bay Packer fan. Tom as most of his relatives called him was an outdoors person. He enjoyed gardening and won an award from the city in 1999 for his lawn. He was also learning how to play pool, which has some stories. Tommy has most of those. He enjoyed being with his nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters, and his friends. He was the social butterfly. He wasn't much for T.V. but he did like Tvland, which he enjoyed all the old shows. Tom will be missed very, very, much.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Carla; two sons, Keith Klade Jr. of Beloit, WI, and Thomas (Julie Schuetz) Klade of Janesville, WI; four sisters, Maryann (Ernie) Weisskopf, Helen (Everett) Lange both of Tomahawk, Sandra Euler of Montgomery, IL, and Ida (Milton) Schultz of Merrill; three brothers, Doyle (Dorothy) Klade, Bill (Barbara) Klade and Rowe (Annette) Klade all of Merrill, WI; numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Donna Brown and Fay, four brothers, Roger, Richard, Fred and Dennis, nieces, nephew, and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Norman Starks officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
