Rex Gerald Phillips, 68, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, October 22, 2004 at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 9, 1936 in Superior, WI, the son of Robert E. and Helen P. Knox Phillips. Rex married Cecelia A. Hutchins on December 29, 1956 in St. Stephens Catholic Church, Minneapolis, MN.

Rex was employed by ADM of Minneapolis, MN for 10 years. He retired from General Motors in 1987 as a line worker. Rex enjoyed hunting, bowling, playing guitars and singing, automobiles and the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include his loving wife, Cecelia; his children, Roxanne (Ronald) Ganzow of Beloit, WI, Debbie (Ben) Doetch of Poplar Grove, IL, Kimberly (Wayne) Schlote of Beloit, WI, Scott Phillips of Beloit, WI and Patricia (Kevin) Brenum of Beloit, WI; 15 grandchildren; sisters, Martha Marlowe of Minneapolis, MN, Joyce (Arthur) Groom of Beloit, WI, Maxine Daniels of Spooner, WI, Janice Davis of Beloit, WI, Loretta Phillips of Beloit, WI; brothers, James (Frances) Phillips of Hayward, WI, Thomas (Gloria) Phillips of Orfordville, WI; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Don Roberts and Robert Phillips; two sisters, Grace Payne and Audrey Moen.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Steve Kortendick officiating. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 26 at Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI with a Scripture Service at 6:00 p.m.

A memorial in his name will be established at a later date.

Lois A. “Ole” Olson-Peterson, 81, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, September 2, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 19, 1923 in Beloit, WI, and raised in Rockton, IL she was the daughter of Anton “Ole” and Myrtle Evelyn Shute Olson. Lois was a 1941 graduate of Hononegah High School. At the age of 20, Lois felt it was her civic duty to join the U.S. Navy during WWII where she was an airplane mechanic and joined the Wave Choir. Lois married Raymond Mullins in California. She later married Owen Leonard Peterson on January 20, 1951 in the Old Stone Church in Rockton, IL. He predeceased her on November 9, 1988.

Lois was employed by the Wagon Wheel, Beloit State Bank, J.C. Penney, and Fairbanks Morse. She was a member of the Duo Deckem Club which was a group of women who graduated from Hononegah in the early 1940’s whom continue to meet on a regular basis. Lois was also a member of the South Beloit American Legion, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #191, Beloit Eagles Club, V.F.W. Post #2306, and the Intermediate Women’s Club. Lois was involved with the Badger Girl Scout Council for over 13 years, a member of the Beloit Turner Scholarship board, YMCA board and the Krueger Women’s Golf. She was an avid golfer and traveled throughout the country with Owen golfing on many courses. Lois and her three close friends bowled on Wednesday nights at Bowl Aire Lanes for over 30 years.

Survivors include her children, Shari (John) Mullins-Cook of Triumph, IL, Patti (Larry) Anderson of Beloit, WI and Peggy Peterson of Beloit, WI; three grandchildren, Lori Cade of Beloit, WI, Terri (Angel) Martinez of Plano, IL, and Larry Anderson Jr. of Beloit, WI; four great grandchildren, Brittney Cade of Beloit, WI, Coddie Martinez of Plano, IL, Bridgett Riemer of Beloit, WI and Madison Martinez of Plano, IL; sister-in-law, Iris Olson.

Lois truly enjoyed her life, family and friends and will be missed by all.

She was predeceased by her parents, sister, Marion Lundmark, brother, Russell Olson, granddaughter, Carrie Miles and brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Lewis Moon officiating. Private Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. Post #2306. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in her name to the V.F.W. Post #2306 or the South Beloit American Legion.

Mary Elizabeth Pitel, 72, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, August 13, 2004 in Rock Haven, Janesville, WI.

She was born May 15, 1932 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Orea and Blanche Boyle Willis. Mary was a 1950 graduate of Beloit High School and a 1953 graduate of Mercy School of Nursing, Janesville, WI. She married Robert E. Pitel on July 18, 1953 in St. Jude Catholic Church in Beloit, WI. He predeceased her June 9, 1991.

Mary worked at Beloit Memorial Hospital and Rock Haven as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.

Survivors include her sons, Jeffrey Pitel of Voorhees, NJ, Steven (Gail) Pitel of Beloit, WI, Timothy (Stephanie) Pitel of Phoenix, AZ, Christopher (Vonda) Pitel of Janesville, WI; 14 grandchildren, Laura Pitel, Tessa Pitel, Greg Pitel, Angela Pitel, Thomas Pitel, Stephanie Pitel, Zachary Pitel, Andrew Pitel, Jessica Pitel, Amanda Pitel, Benjamin Pitel, Christian Pitel, Danielle Pitel, and Evan Pitel; one brother, Roy (Jane) Willis of Austin, TX.

She was predeceased by her parents and son, Gerald.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2004 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Fr. James Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in Mt Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, August 15, 2004 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI 53511.

Memorials may be given in her name to Rock Haven.

Carol Walters Phalin, 62, of Beloit, WI, died August 1, 2004 in her home.

She was born October 3, 1941 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Edwin Walters and Purzle Luebke ( Herbert) Punzel. Carol graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, WI. She married Gerald E. Phalin on January 26, 1974 in Beloit, WI.

Carol worked for Beloit Convalescent Center for 15 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Carol also worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Pamida in Adams County until she became ill. She enjoyed gardening and reading the bible.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald of Beloit, WI; her three daughters, Vickie Sorenson of Janesville, WI, Kimberly (John) Teed of Beloit, WI, and Lori (Todd) Jester of Beloit, WI; her two sons, William (Marcie) Sorenson of Janesville, WI and Robert Sorenson of Janesville, WI, five grandchildren; and one great granddaughter; brothers, Gary (Barb) Walters of Janesville, WI and Jerry (Edie) Walters of Beloit, WI, and a very special friend, Shirley Hutter.

She was predeceased by her parents.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Dave Meding officiating. Burial will be held at Shopiere Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of the services Thursday in the funeral home.

Mary Anne Presho, 86, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, July 30, 2004 at Pioneer Court.

She was born December 12, 1917 in Mendon Township, Iowa the daughter of John and Annie Beckett McWilliams. Mary was a graduate of McGregor High School in McGregor, Iowa. She married Stanton Leo Presho on June 26, 1938 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, McGregor, Iowa. He predeceased her on February 3, 1998.

Mary worked at Beloit Memorial Hospital as a Nurses Aid, then as a Sales Clerk at Bergners for 20 years until she retired.

Survivors include her son, James S. (Shirley) Presho of Beloit, WI; her daughters, Jane (Bob) Klein of Beloit, WI, and Kathy (Dave) Jarvis of Rockford, IL; five grandchildren, Dennis (Ruby) Kohl, Mike Kohl, Joe (Shelly) Kruschek, Jacqueline Engstrom and Eric Engstrom; two great grandchildren, Donnavie and Brian Kohl.

She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Jack McWilliams and sister, Alice Hedley.

A very special thanks to the staff of Pioneer Court and the staff of Beloit Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to mom.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI with the Pastor Norm Starks officiating. Burial will be held at Mt. Thabor. Visitation will be 1:00 Monday until time of service in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Beloit Hospice.

William “Bill” J. Plummer, 68, of Beloit, WI, died at his home Friday, July 09, 2004.

He was born July 14, 1935 in Strickland, WI, the son of William and Anna Wilgus Plummer. William was a 1954 graduate of Ladysmith High School in Ladysmith, WI. He married Joyce A. Ruch on February 11, 1956 in St. Ann’s Church in Murry, WI.

William worked at Beloit Corporation as a machinist until his retirement in 1997. He was also employed at Yates-American Machine Company. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. William loved his grandsons, and families sporting events.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce of 48 years; his three sons, Jim Plummer of South Beloit, IL, Thomas (Renee´) Plummer of Roscoe, IL, Jerald (Cindy) Plummer of Roscoe, IL; his daughter, Christy K. (Christopher) Slye of Alamo, CA; grandsons, Neil “Plummer” Morello of Scottsdale, AZ, Brandon Plummer of South Beloit, IL, Shane, Jarad, Kevin and Matt Plummer of Roscoe, IL; brother, Robert Plummer of Bruce, WI; sister, Josephine Janowski of St. Paul, MN; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

His parents, four brothers, and one sister predeceased him.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Pastor Mark Dilley from the Grace Bible Church officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until the time of services in funeral home.

Wesley T. Paddock, 32, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, October 3, 2003 in his home.

He was born April 17, 1971 in Rockford, IL, the son of Wesley D. and Veronica C. (Kitko) Paddock. Wesley was a 1989 graduate of North Manchester High School in Indiana and a graduate of Southwestern Illinois College.

Survivors include his mother, Veronica Paddock of Collinsville, IL; his father, Wesley D. Paddock of Beloit, WI; two brothers, David Paddock of Caseyville, IL and Michael Paddock of Collinsville, IL; maternal grandparents, Frank (Joanne) Kitko of Ramey, PA; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Paddock of Beloit, WI; one uncle, Thomas (Judy) Kitko of Madison, AL; two aunts, Teresa Kitko of Wilmington, DE and Jeanne Kitko of State College, PA.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Wesley W. Paddock.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Steven Kortendick officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of services Friday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in Wesley’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Lester W. “Butch” Piedlow, 85, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, April 29, 2004 in his home.

He was born December 12, 1918 in Beloit, WI, the son of Wilbur S. and Murney Read Piedlow. Butch was a 1938 graduate of Beloit High School. He married Geraldine Toice on June 19, 1943 in Beloit, WI. Butch worked at Beloit Corporation in Quality Control until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the Beloit Elks Lodge #864, past master of the Masonic Lodge No. 10 F& A.M. and a former president of the Royce School PTA.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Geraldine; daughters, Betty (David) Badertscher of Beloit, WI and Terry (James) Kirchhoff of Hope, AR; four grandchildren; sister, Frances (Leslie) Bliss of Shingle Springs, CA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents and three sisters, Helen Van Alstine, Louise Doss and Ruth O’Brien.

Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Douglas Gray officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to Beloit Regional Hospice.
