FRANCES L. RADDATZ, 89, of Beloit, WI, died Sunday March 23, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

She was born February 16, 1914 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of John and Edith Conrad Hutton. Frances married Erwin W. Raddatz on April 17, 1933 in Milbank, SD. He predeceased her on September 10, 1996.

Frances was employed by Adams Korn Kurls and later by Besly Bendix for 35 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Besly Quarter Century Club. Frances was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her yard, flowers, home, playing cards and her family dearly.

Survivors include her children, Robert (Rita) Raddatz of Ventura, CA, Carl Raddatz of Louisville, KY, Lorraine (Ronald) Cosler of Rockford, IL, and Dorothy Ann (Robert) Hoadley of Conroe, TX; five grandchildren, Cathy (Rick) Gulden of Ventura, CA, Jeff (Nancy) Raddatz of El Cajon, CA, Robyn (Pete) Vanderham of Mira Loma, CA, Mike Hoadley of Houston, TX, and Debbie (George) Borgesen of Pensacola, FL; Patricia (Gary) Lake of Brandenburg, KY, and Linda (Gary) Crook of Pensacola, FL; six great grandchildren, Angie Williamson, Derek Gulden, Jeff Raddatz Jr., Teri Lynn Dewees, Jason Owens and Tommy Watkins; one great great grandson, Dillon Williamson; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers; Howard Hutton, John Hutton, and Norman Hutton, three sisters; Irene Iverson, Dorothy Kruse, and Esther Wibbens, grandson, Tommy Stith, daughter-in-law, Bernice Raddatz.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2003 in the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend Mark B. Yates officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.

Memorials may be given to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mary Carmella Schroder, 82, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, March 31, 2005 in the home of her son.

She was born on March 28, 1923 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Rocco and Angelina Grosso Bertoldo. Mary was a 1941 graduate of Decatur High School. She married Dale S. Schroder on October 2, 1949 in Decatur, IL. He predeceased her on May 26, 1992.

Mary was employed at Beloit Catholic High School as the head cook. She was a member of the Beloit Eagles Club Aerie #557, Loyal order of the Moose Lodge #191 and St. Jude Catholic Church.

Mary will be remembered for her cooking and her love of children. Working at Beloit Catholic High, Mary was affectionately known as “MA”, by the many students that she loved and cooked for. Her home was always open to her friends and neighbors for a friendly game of yahtzee or just a warm smile when you needed one. She will be forever missed by her children, grandchildren, and everyone whose life she touched.

Survivors include her children, Daryl (Jerelyn) Schroder of Beloit, WI and Marcia (Dennis) Wise of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Marney (Jeff) Lyon of Oregon, WI, Carey (Jaron) Combs, Ben Schroder, Molly Schroder and Luke Schroder all of Beloit, WI, and Shane Wise of Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren, Abby Schroder, Mallory Combs, Camden Combs and Thomas Lyon; sisters, Fanny (Emmitt) Gaffron of Decatur, IL and Rose Carney of LA; one brother, Frank (Joyce) Bertoldo of Honolulu, HI; sister-in-law, Merilyn Jayne of Decatur, IL.

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters, Theresa Bullpitt and Chris Reinhart, brothers, Vito Bertoldo and Fr. Peter Paul Bertoldo.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2005 in St. Jude Catholic Church with Fr. Steven Kortendick officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with a Scripture service at 5:45 p.m. Visitation will also be from 10:15 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the church.

A memorial will be established at a later date.

Caroline M. Schnurr, 90 of South Beloit, IL died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

She was born December 28, 1914 in Durand, IL the daughter of Herbert and Nellie Doud Varner. She married Clyde Schnurr and he predeceased her on September 9, 1985.

Caroline was employed at Freeman Shoes and enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Marian Circle, Altar Guild and taught Sunday School. Caroline enjoyed reading and studing her Bible, cooking and baking. She enjoyed sports, College Basketball and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Caroline loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Marion (Eugene) Windsor of Beloit, WI, Albert (Patricia) Schnurr of Clinton, WI, Sally Hatch of Beloit, WI and Rosalie (Ted) Zierath of South Beloit, IL; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews; special friend, Eunice Marks of South Beloit, IL; and caregiver, Glenda Richardson of Beloit, WI.

She was predeceased by her parents; one son, Richard Pennewell, brothers Bernard, Chester, Milton, Miles, Leslie, Kenneth and Gerald Varner.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1305 Blackhawk Blvd, South Beloit, IL with Pastor Jay Quinn officiating. Burial will be held at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2005 at the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.

Memorial may be given in her name to Faith Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.

Anne M. Smiljanich, 92, of Beloit, WI, died Sunday March 27, 2005 in her home.

Anne was born June 11, 1912 in DePue, IL, the daughter of Steve and Barbara Lukich Smiljanich. She was a 1929 graduate of Beloit High School. Anne was employed by Fairbanks Morse, 20th Century Fox, Hollywood, CA, and the Beloit Corporation from 1946 until her retirement in 1977.

Anne was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Beloit Bowling Hall of Fame. She was also a member of the Fairbanks Womens’ Basketball Team. Anne was an accomplished bowler and golfer.

Anne is survived by her close and special friends, Niles and Doris Gappa of Wausau, WI, Donald and Gloria Buck of Belvidere, IL, John and Teresa Joern, of Roscoe, IL. and their children John and Mark , Ruth Francis of Beloit, WI; many other friends

She is predeceased by her parents and her half brother, Andrew Lewis.

Funeral service will be 1:00p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Father Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be held in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be given in her name to Beloit Home Companion Registry or Beloit Regional Hospices

Sandra "Sandy" L. Spangler, 60, of South Beloit, IL, died Thursday, March 24, 2005 at home surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer.

She was born September 21, 1944 in Beloit, WI the daughter of Andrew “Jack” and Opal Rhead Spangler. Sandy was a 1962 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. She spent over 20 years working at the Golden Door Salon and the last 10 years as owner and operator of Styles by Sandy. Sandy was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing pool, fishing, birds, gardening and her flowers. Sandy loved her constant companion Freeway.

Survivors include her daughter, Carmen (Carl) Bartram of Beloit, WI; grandson, Travis Bartram; granddaughter, Cassie Bartram; mother, Opal Spangler of South Beloit, IL; niece, Jean Rockey of South Beloit, IL; nephew, Terry (Cristy) Rockey of South Beloit, IL; three great nieces, Barbara Ann Rediske, Taryn Rockey and Natalie Rockey, brother-in-law, Jack Rockey of South Beloit, IL; and many special dear friends including Roger Stout of Beloit, WI.

She was predeceased by her father, Andrew “Jack” Spangler; son, Monte McClaren and sister, Barbara Rockey.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI 53511 with Pastor Erik Jelinek officiating. Burial will be held at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in her name to Beloit Regional Hospice or The American Cancer Society.

Jan R. Schmidt, 48, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 in his home.

He was born on April 27, 1956 in Beloit, WI, the son of Ronald Russell and Jeannine A. Deering Schmidt. Jan attended Blackhawk Technical College. He was employed by Woodman’s Grocery Store. Jan was a Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan. He enjoyed shooting pool and motorcycles.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Ellen of Beloit, WI; his mother, Jeannine Schmidt of Beloit, WI; five sisters, Ann (Tom) Hartke of Michigan, Marcia (Steve) Allen of Beloit, WI, Becky (Don) Hoffman of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Julie Vandervort and Karla Schmidt both of Beloit, WI; aunts, cousins, nieces, nephew and great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father and uncles.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2005 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon, WI.

Patricia Jane “Pat” Sullivan, 56, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, February 23, 2005 in her home.

She was born on January 1, 1949 in Readstown, WI, the daughter of Osmond and Onah Schoville Olson. Pat married James Sullivan on February 10, 1968 in Seneca, WI.

Pat loved the outdoors, flowering and taking care of her yard. She loved spending time with her granddaughter and her dog, Toby. She enjoyed dancing and country western music.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, James of Beloit, WI; two sons, Scott (Amy) Sullivan of Virginia Beach, VA and Chad (Mirsa) Sullivan of Janesville, WI; one granddaughter, Allison Sullivan and a grandson to be, Cole Douglas Sullivan; two brothers, Fred (Martha) Olson of Readstown, WI and Doug (Linda) Olson of Virginia; one sister, Delores ((Paul) Randall of Readstown, WI; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Kathleen Schultz.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2005 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Norman Starks officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services Saturday in the funeral home.

Daniel S. Shook, Jr. 85 of Beloit, WI died Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Sun Valley East in Beloit, WI.

He was born January 23, 1920 in Janesville, WI, the son of Daniel and Mabel Rodau Shook, Sr. Daniel attended the Brown Street School in Milwaukee, WI. He married Dorothy Berens on June 25, 1941 in Milwaukee, WI.

Daniel was a veteran of World War II serving in the 73rd Armed Infantry from July 29, 1943 until September 28, 1945. He was assigned to the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater and presented with a Purple Heart. Daniel was employed at Yates American as a Machinist for 37 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Rockton, IL the Janesville V.F.W. Post 1621 and the Wisconsin Polka Boosters.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy (Berens) Shook of Beloit, WI; daughters, Patricia “Patsy” Titus of Janesville, WI, Dorothy “Dottie” Allen of South Beloit, IL, Sandra (Bradford) Phillips of Tucson, AZ; son-in-law Michael Lynch of Janesville, WI; grandchildren, Scott (Deb) Schiefelbein, Daniel Schiefelbein, Marvin (Melissa) Phillips, Jeremy (Kara) Phillips, Bernadette (Steve) Porter, and Kristin (Mike) King; 5 great granddaughters; 3 great grandsons; step-sisters Marie Whipple of Rockford, IL and Donna (Norm) Jaeger of Lindenwood, IL ; step-brothers, Glen (Delores) Rundberg of Rockford, IL, and Vernon (Barbara) Jackson of Seattle, WA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, daughter, Sheryl Lynch; granddaughter, Lynn Schiefelbein; brothers, Edward, Sanford, Robert and Harold; sisters, Elizabeth “Abbie” Unz and Jeanette Young; son-in-laws, Orvin Titus and Ned Allen, and step-mother, Norma Shook.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2005 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Rockton, IL with Pastor Richard Wagner officiating. Burial will be held at Town of Rock Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by the V.F.W. Post 1621. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Monday until time of service at the church. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI 53511 assisted the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Stained Glass Window Fund at St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
