Gilmore Gordon “Gil” Schultz, 74, of Montello, WI, formerly of Clinton, WI, died Friday, August 6, 2004 in the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, WI.

He was born on September 2, 1929 in Wilton, WI, the son of Alfred and Edith (Visgar) Schultz. Gil was a graduate of Wilton High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air- Force. He married Virginia Corwith on May 24, 1958 in Reedsburg, WI.

Gil was employed for 35 years at Eco Lab as a truck driver, retiring in 1991. After retiring Gil moved to Montello, WI in 1993. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Gil was a member of the American Legion Post #0351 Montello, WI.

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Virginia; three sons, Brian (Denise) Schultz of Bellville, WI, Jon (Natasha) Schultz of Avalon, WI and Stuart (Nancy) Schultz of Clinton, WI; one daughter, Ellen (Dave) Niemann of Beloit, WI; 10 grandchildren, Nathan, Cassie and Ian Schultz, Jessica Schultz and Gavin North, Kayla, Hannah and Maggie Schultz, Karah and Mallory Niemann; one brother, William (Viviane) Schultz

He was predeceased by his parents, brother Gary, and an infant sister Joyce.

Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Military Rites accorded by V.F.W. Post #2306. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the UW Hospital Cancer Treatment Center, Ann Johnson c/o Comp. Cancer Center, 600 Highland Avenue, Madison, WI 53792.

Arnum Edgar Schmidt, 93, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, August 2, 2004 at Beloit Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born May 15, 1911 in Winona, MN, the son of Albert and Teresa Zaudke Schmidt. Arnum was a graduate of Winona High School and a graduate of diesel engineering school of Los Angeles, CA. in August of 1936. He married Eleanor Anna Streng on October 26, 1935 in Winona, MN.

Arnum was employed by Fairbanks Morse Company, retiring in May of 1973. He was a member of the Fairbanks Morse Retirees Club and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Eleanor A. Schmidt of Beloit, WI; two sons, Ronald N. Schmidt of Beloit, WI and Arnum E. “Arnie” (Leslie) Schmidt of Savannah, GA; four grandchildren, Dean Schmidt of Chapel Hill, TN, Sharon Schmidt Robinson of Savannah, GA, Susan Schmidt Mullis of Winder, GA and Nancy Schmidt Holland of Savannah, GA; seven great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Al and Norbert Schmidt.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2004 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Edward May from Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Turtleville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Radio Ministry.

Grace Mary (Andrews) Stitt, 88, of Janesville, WI, and formerly of Beloit, WI died Saturday, July 3, 2004 in Mercy Hospital, Janesville, WI.

She was born March 31, 1916 in Browntown, WI, the daughter of Leland and Emma Clark Phillips. Grace married LeRoy Andrews on September 29, 1933 in Freeport, IL. He predeceased her on May 31, 1964. She later married Torrence O. Stitt Sr. on January 23, 1965 in Edgerton, WI. He predeceased her on April 27, 1990.

Grace was employed by Freeman Shoe Company for 34 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Freeman Shoe Company Quarter Century Club and First United Methodist Church and a former member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children, Clifford (Wanda) Andrews of Rockford, IL and Sandra Kay (Anthony) Werner of Janesville, WI; 39 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; step children, Torrence O. (Alice) Stitt Jr. of Beloit, WI, David Richard Stitt of Fredericksburg, VA, Carol Marie Erickson of Fargo, North Dakota, Marilyn Rae (Francis) Buttke of Janesville, WI and Kay Ellen (Robert) Froehlich of Florida; daughters-in-law, Beverly Andrews of Riverbank, CA and Eva Andrews of Beloit, WI; brothers, Glen (Loretta) Phillips of Orangeville, IL and Gene (Ruby) Phillips of Monroe, WI; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, three sons, James, Erving and Charles Andrews, grandson, Karl and great grandson Casey, five brothers, Charles, Wilbur, Ray, Ernie, and Alve Phillips, one sister, Nora Smithson and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Andrews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Jo Bierer officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Jean N. Stoddard, 89, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, June 18, 2004 in Riverside Terrace, Beloit, WI.

She was born April 6, 1915 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Peter and Anna Kalutchuk Egnatchuk. Jean was a 1933 graduate of Rockford Central High School. She married William Dean Stoddard on May 10, 1941 in the Old Stone Church, Rockton, IL. He predeceased her on November 11, 2003.

Jean was an avid golfer, and a former member of the Sunset League and the Intermediate Women . She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was active in the Sarah Circle. Jean loved to take care of her family, her love and cooking for them was one of a kind. She was loved by all who knew her and she dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Sally J. (John) Kelley Heineke of Beloit, WI, and William “Bill” (Linda Savage) Stoddard of Iowa City, IA; three grandchildren, Katherine (Dave) Kelley Zanzig of Berterange, Luxembourg; Margaret (Rob) Kelley Mann of San Francisco, CA and Daniel William (Laura) Kelley of Las Vegas, NV; four great grandchildren, Hannah and Nathan Zanzig, Benjamin and Ethan Mann; one sister, Sonya Walters of Minocqua, WI; three nephews, Ron Walters, Jim Walters and Robert Yontz; two nieces, Beth (Ike) Marcadis and Katrina (Nelson) Archer.

She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Mary.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in her name to First United Methodist Church or Beloit Regional Hospice.

Abel Clarence Siverhus, 77, of Beloit, WI, passed away on June 15, 2004 at his home.

He was born May 10, 1927 the son of Gustav and Ida Berge Siverhus, in the town of Portland, Monroe County, WI. Abel was a member of Skogdalen Lutheran Church in Timber Coulee, WI, where he was baptized and confirmed. On December 4, 1948 he was united in marriage to Patricia Helgerson. They farmed for several years and Abel worked for a roofing business in La Crosse. In 1965, they moved to Beloit, where he went to work for roofing and siding firm. In 1971, Abel went into his own roofing and siding business until his retirement in 1989. Later on in 1997, he went to work part time at Harris Ace Hardware. Abel, his wife and family were members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Beloit. After their children had all left home and were on their own, Abel and Patricia rejoined and became members of the Skogdalen Lutheran Church, where all their children were baptized and two confirmed and this is where Abel wanted to be, more like home.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Beloit, WI; six children, Mary (Joseph) Leterski of Bevent, WI, Jane Wells of Bowling Green, KY, Anna Greenlee of Beloit, WI, Abel (Candy) Siverhus of Beloit, WI, Paul (Kim) Siverhus of Beloit, WI, and Judy (Randy) Miller of Janesville, WI; 19 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Olson of Cashton, WI and Myrtle Amundson of Westby, WI; brother, Harry Siverhus of Cashton, WI; three sisters-in-law, Hazel Siverhus of Sparta, WI, Gwen Siverhus of Cashton, WI and Clarice Siverhus of Cashton, WI; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, one grandson, Joey Minor; one granddaughter, Patricia Minor; two sisters, Isabelle Weber and Esther Olson; four brothers, Grant, Albin, Rueben and Glen; sister-in-law, Margie Siverhus; three brothers-in-law, Everett Weber, Palmer Olson and Clifford Olson.

Funeral Services will be held at Skogdalen Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. with the Pastor Dale Svendsen officiating. Burial will be held at the Skogdalen Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 18, 2004 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor Kurt Handrich. Visitation will ALSO be held Saturday, June 19th from 2:00 p.m. until time of service in the church.

Celestine O. Shackelford-Butts, 46, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, May 17, 2004 in Rockford, IL.

She was born June 26, 1957 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Osborn and Charlie Lou Milsap Shackelford. Celestine was a 1975 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School and a 1997 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of MATC. She was a veteran of the U.S Army serving with the Medical Corp. Celestine married Jeffrey L. Butts on May 26, 2001 in Beloit, WI.

Celestine was employed by Milwaukee Veteran’s Administration, Veteran’s Place Central and the Aurora Health Care. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Sorority, V.F.W., the American Legion and Wesley Christian Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jeffrey of Tomah, WI; one daughter, Kyesa Shackelford of Beloit, WI; four grandchildren, Khai-Air Dawson, Shai-Air Hodge, Da-Jhair Dawson and Sincere Smith; three step children, Kimberly Stevens of Milwaukee, WI, Adrian Butts of Atlanta, GA, and LaToya Jones of Milwaukee, WI; three step grandchildren, Jeffrey Boyd, Braylin Stevens and Latour Butts; her parents, Osborn and Charlie Shackelford of Beloit, WI; two brothers, Osborn L. (Denise) Shackelford of Peoria, AZ and Aaron (Cindy) Shackelford of Mukwonago, WI; one sister, Karen Y. Shackelford of Tacoma, WA.

She will be missed by many other friends and relatives.

She was predeceased by her grandparents.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Roy Howard officiating. Burial will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Monday in the funeral home.

John W. Shepherd, 54, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, May 17, 2004 in his home.

He was born April 11, 1950 in Beloit, WI, the son of John W. and Betty (Snyder) Shepherd. John was a 1968 graduate of F.J. Turner High School. He married Edna Delaney on December 5, 1970 in Beloit, WI.

John was employed for 33 years at United Industries. He was a member of the Knights of the Round Table. John enjoyed war gaming and history.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Edna; two daughters, Tracy (Rob) Pankhurst and Lori (Dave) Shepherd both of Beloit, WI; six grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Britney, Joshua, Derrick and Tyler; one great granddaughter, Hallie; his parents, John and Betty Shepherd of Beloit, WI; one sister, Kathy (Dennis) Jackson of Janesville, WI; two brothers, James (Carroll) Shepherd of Beloit, WI and Mark Shepherd of Madison, WI; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws and friends including his war game friends and friends from work.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Tom and Clara Snyder and Eli and Bertha Shepherd.

Funeral services will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services Friday in the funeral home.

Memorials to the family would be appreciated.

Thomas Kent Strumski, 64, of Roscoe, IL, died Thursday, May 6, 2004 in his home.

He was born August 21, 1939 in Hammond, IN the son of Joseph Clemmons and Margaret Elizabeth Sako. Thomas graduated from the East Alton Wood River High School in Wood River, IL. He attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated in 1958 with a degree in Engineering. He served in the United States Air Force from 1959 through 1963. Thomas married Rosalyn Lee on January 10, 1970 in Granite City, IL. She predeceased him on December 30, 1993. He later married Peggy Jane Eckstein on August 12, 1995 in Norwalk, OH. Peggy predeceased him on June 21, 2002. Thomas was employed at PMS Consolidated as the Division Manager until his retirement in 2000.

Beloved father of, Tomi (Mike) Dickey of Bethalto, IL, Tammy (Sam) King of Maryland Heights, MO, Kent (Nichole) Strumski of Amherst, OH, Melissa (Paul) Beaudet of Largo, FL, Donna Strumski of Lewiston, MN. He also was survived by grandchildren, Katie and Michaela Dickey; great grandchild, Abigail Murphy, sister, Betty (Ken) Snider of Granite City, IL.

He was predeceased by his parents, and brother Ron Strumski.

Funeral Services will be private. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. assisted the family with the arrangements.

Charles “Chuck” Siebel, 77, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004 in his home.

He was born November 10, 1926 in Beloit, WI, the son of Herman F. and Mattie G. Osmond Siebel. Chuck was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He married Rosemary “Rosie” Piatt on April 6, 1963 in Beloit, WI.

Chuck was employed by Fairbanks Morse & Company and Beloit Power Systems, retiring in 1978. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, Handyman and the V.F.W. Post 2306. Chuck was a lover and restorer of antique cars. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and was an avid bowler. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and was a communion minister. Chuck was an overall dynamic handyman for his family, friends and neighborhood and will be missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary “Rosie” Siebel of Beloit, WI; children, Donald (Lisa) Siebel of Beloit, WI, Cynthia (Michael) Cregan of Winnebago, IL and Steven (Carolyn Hayford) Siebel of Beloit, WI; three grandchildren, Brennen Rutten, Cody Rutten and Amber Siebel; six sisters, Irene (Byron) Matthes, Genevieve Johnson, Joan (Edward) Patton, Helen Thom all of Beloit, WI, Delores (Robert) Griep of Janesville, WI, and Janice (Frank) Olson of Marietta, GA; three brothers, Herman “Bud” (Dolly) Siebel, Clarence (Sarabeth) Siebel both of Beloit, WI and William (Joan) Siebel of Mansfield, PA.

He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, Ernest, Edward and Raymond Siebel and infant sister, Dawn.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004 in St. Jude Catholic Church with Fr. Steven Kortendick officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with a Scripture Service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will also be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the church.

A memorial in his name will be established.
